Aironet 1130 AG Series

I am in the process of setting up a free wireless network for visitors and tenants to use in their free time. I have run into a problem with a tenant wanting to keep their employees off the network by issuing a password. I would like to avoid this if at all possible by simply blocking their work computers Mac Addresses from accessing the network. Can this be done via the control pages as I know nothing about CLI? If so where do I start?
Much thanks for any help I can get on this.

    2.Hi Carlo,
    Thank you for the update.
I researched on the issue and got the following details:
Our case is being hit by a bug. For the details, please visit http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit and enter the bug id as CSCsl22021.
As of now, its the test code that is available as the fix, and it requires additional testing on it. If you wish, we can send you the test code, however, we cannot provide guarantee for it work without any flaws in the production environment. Otherwise, you may downgrade the existing IOS by downloading code from http://tinyurl.com/yqc4sx. You may downgrade to 12.3.8-JEA3(LD).
Please feel free to contact me for any clarification.

  • Dual SSID (with dual VLAN) on Cisco AiroNet 1130

    Cisco Community,
I need some major help in figuring out how to change our wireless setup. Currently, we have 2 Cisco AiroNet 1130 WAP's in the office that go directly into the 2 POE ports on our Cisco ASA 5500. These WAP's have 1 SSID and are using WEP for security. After demonstrating the flaws of WEP to my boss, he has agreed that we should use something more secure and I've suggested WPA. We want visitors to our office to be able to hop on our wireless but on a separate guest SSID with WEP.
I'd like the internal SSID to route to the ASA and take the default route to the internet (it will be our new fiber connection once it's installed in a couple weeks). The default route is whichever connection is working since our ASA 5500 will fail over when it detects an outage.
I'd like the guest SSID to route to the ASA and then go over our existing cable connection. This connection will be our backup once the fiber connection is installed. Since we won't be using it very often, but will be paying for it, I advised that we send all guest wireless traffic over this connection since 50/5 is plenty for guests.
I have no idea how to create a VLAN and implement it but I can generally figure things out with a little help. The current SSID (which will be the internal SSID) has no VLAN. We do currently have a few VLANS on our network, one for voice (.42) and one for data (.100) and the default (.0). What device to I create the VLAN on (Cisco 5500?) and how to I setup the WAP? I need very basic instructions to start and I'm also trying to do this without causing downtime if possible.
I've attached a diagram of what it should look like. Red indicates our internal network and Blue indicates the guest network. I can send screenshots as well.
Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.
    Thanks,
    Cody

    Cody,
Here is a good doc to follow... it explains multiple ssid's and vlans

I tried holding down the mode button to transfer a new image via tftp but that failed (the link b/w the ap and the computer never came up)
It seems the the ap can't bring the ethernet interface up.  Is this a hardware problem or is there something else i should try?

I would think about an RMA at this point.

  • Cisco Aironet 1130

I need to configure SNMP on our company Aironet 1130.   I am told there is a tool we can use that will allow us do the configuration from a PC vs connecting directly to the device.. If that is true, where can I download it?

I would like to enable SNMP on the device so that our SolarWinds Orion NPM server can monitor the device
    Ok.  NOOOOOOOOOOOW I understand you.
You need to enable one of two types of SNMP communities:  Read Only or Read-Write.
For example, if your SNMP community is TV for Read-only and RADIO for Read-Write then it's this:
    snmp-server community TV ro
    snmp-server community RADIO rw

  • Wifispot aironet AP 2600 series

    Hello,
I recently deployed a aironet 2600 AP series in one of our external office. My manager wants a wifispot there but without a password authentication.
thats means it will be a open-wifispot but i find that too unsecured.
Is there a way too let it open but still have a encrypted connection?? and whats the best way too set that up?

    Hi,
If you want to setup secure or ecrypted wi-fi hotspot network, you would need to get the security key OR save the your AP Client configuration in client machine manually to avoid asking for key each time.

  • Cisco aironet 1130 and Intermec CV30

    Hi to all,
I've a little problem with three Cisco 1130 AP. Anticipately i tell you that i'm not a guru of cisco wireless, but my implementation is very simple. I need a roaming for the 3 AP. I only have Ap, so i configure one as Master Ap and the others like repeater with cisco aironet extension configured. All 3 on the same channel and only the Master one broadcast SSID. Wep security implemented. My Cv30 terminals randomly loose the signal also if they're near an AP. They use windows mobile but i think is only a wrong config problem. I need help. Thank you very much.

  • Aironet 1130 Configuration

We have a Cisco Aironet 1130AG Access Point in our Community Centre.
It was originally installed by the County Council, with no security password set.
We were unable to access the AP as the technician who installed it had changed the password from the default, but hadn't recorded it (and has now left).
We therefore did a Factory Reset, which has enabled us to configure the AP. However, there are a few problems:
    1) If the AP is re-booted, it loses all the settings;
    2) We can't save the Current Startup Configuration;
    3) We don't seem to be able to change the default password.
    Regards
    Adrian Cobley

The fact that you can't save the configuration or that it gets deleted after a reboot, points to an issue with the nvram, it might be a hardware failure.
However as George said, paste the configuration to take a look, also issue a show ver and let us know which version are you using.

  • Manage new Aironet 1130 with web browser

    Hello,
I bought a wi-fi Aironet 1130AG, I plug it in my network, it gets an IP address with my DHCP server but I can not manage it with my internet browser, "Internet Explorer can not display this page ". Wifi terminal responds to ping.
    Thank you for your help.
    Anthony

When you recieve brand new AP you should be able to console into it.
Just to evaluate what you really have we need to have console output :
May be the IOS image is corrupted for example.
If after checking the console and making sure that nothing wrong , i would say re-image the AP using console session.
check the following link for more information on how to download ios image to the AP:

  • Aironet 1130 AG Ping Drops.

    Hello Friends,
We have 5 Access point in our network. recently we discovered ping drops in all access point. the pings dropping randomly. sometime one request time out or three times.
All APs are connected with POE edge switch. For test,  we attached with other Core switch with power adapter but again same problem. We created different VLan & tried but same result.Even we upgraded OS to 12.4(25d)JA2
We tested same AP with other company network & there its working without any drops.
We are facing this issue since one month & there is no changes in network configuration.
    Please advice on this problem.
    Thank You..

We tested same AP with other company network & there its working without any drops.
So when you say this, to me it's no change in the AP configuration, but your just connecting it to another network and it's working fine. So that being said, looks like a meteors configuration issue not an issue.

  • Aironet 1130 AG

I am configuring the Access Point and after going through the Express Setup and Express Security pages, and after turning the radios on, the Services page no longer displays HTTP, or any other services. It does however display the following...
    " \n'; for (i=0; i "
    and that is all.
Any ideas what has happened? I am configuring two of these and each one does this same thing, so I do not believe it to be a hardware error.

The Bootloader version is 12.3(8)JEA.... It seems that when I go to Security-->Admin Access and change the Authentication to "Local User List Only" and then remove the Global Password, the Services page disappears. Unless someone has something better, I think that I will keep a Global Password, but change it. That seems to have worked....

  • N+1 redundancy with 2504-HA

    Hello,
I have question regarding N+1 redundancy with 2504-HA WLC.
Can I use 2504-HA unit for H+1 redundancy? SSO is not needed
    I have two wireless network:
    1.      With WLC 5508 with about 40 AP(1262), all them are A regulatory domain
    2.      With WLC 2504, with about 30 Mesh AP(1552), all of them are E regulatory domain
I plan to use two 2504-HA units for backups, one for network with WLC5508 and second for network with WLC2504.
In case N+1 redundancy is management with Prime mandatory ?

    Hi,
Better to use same model and same software.
    Case1: You have 5508WLC
Solution from my side: You must buy a another WLC with HA SKU license(Zero AP license). This wlc can work as N+1 and AP SSO as well as Client SSO but with higher version of code(7.5 or higher).
    Case2: You have 2504 WLC
Solution: You must buy a another 2504 HA WLC: AIR-CT2504-HA-K9, that only supports N+1(No AP SSO and NO Client SSO)

  • AP SSO WISM2 WLC 7.4.121

    HI everyone,
I'm currently doing a proof of concept on the AP SSO feature running on WLC 7.4.121.
The first thing I would like be sure is that client SSO is not avalaible in 7.4.X release, i need to upgarde to 7.5.X, Am I right ?
The second thing I would like to share and investigate with you is about AP SSO not currently working in my topology.
I have 2 seperate C6500 (SUP720-3B) switches with 1 WISM2 in each and both switches interconnected trough a 10G port.
I enable AP SSO on both WLC that synchronize themselves trough the 10G port on a special redundancy VLAN.
They both synchronize, and everything is working (both AP database on primary and standby WLC).
What I can't understand is when forcing switchover on the primary (redundancy force-switchover command), the fallback is doing great to the standby WLC but the AP still get into CAPWAP DISCOVER state because of a timeout with the following logging message
*Feb 14 15:36:37.727: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Sequence number (0) mismatch in request messageDeleting clients for centrally switched wlan 1Deleting clients for centrally switched wlan 1Sending hreap clients to wlc on HA eventAP1cdf.0f66.90b4#% Cannot enable CDP on this interface, since CDP is not running% Cannot enable CDP on this interface, since CDP is not running., 5)14 15:37:22.934: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Retransmission count for packet exceeded max(CAPWAP_WTP_EVENT_REQUEST*Feb 14 15:37:22.934: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: GOING BACK TO DISCOVER MODE
So the SSID is unavalaible for a certain period of time as it would be with N+1 redundancy.
I also saw that some documentation said that tle WLC needs to be run on a VSS (
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/5500-series-wireless-controllers/113681-high-availability-dg-00.html) and some other say the contrary (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/aironet-1130-ag-series/qa_c67-714540.html)
Did you manage to get AP SSO working and did you ever have this issue ?
    Thank for you help !

    HI Max,
The first thing I would like be sure is that client SSO is not avalaible in 7.4.X release, i need to upgarde to 7.5.X, Am I right ?The second thing I would like to share and investigate with you is about AP SSO not currently working in my topology.
Yes you need 7.5 version on WLC for Client SSO.
I never seen this tiype of error, You must contatc TAC and tell them about this issue.

  • Finding the manufacture date on an access point via software

I'd like to determine the manufacture date of our access points because we plan on converting to LWAPP? Can someone tell me the what CLI command to use and which field has the answer. thanks.

    Hi Thomas,
    Not sure about finding the Manufacture date (maybe you are trying to find out about the presence of a MIC certificate) but we did go through this coversion from Autonomous to Lightweight on our infrastructure last summer.In this process we did convert about 70 1121's and 1231's to LWAPP and it worked very well. Here are some relevant docs;
Upgrading Autonomous Cisco Aironet Access Points to Lightweight Mode
    From this excellent doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html
The following Cisco Aironet access points have the ability to operate as autonomous access points or lightweight access points:
Cisco Aironet 1240 AG Series Access Points
Cisco Aironet 1230 AG Series Access Points
    Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Points that contain 802.11g (AIR-MP21G-x-K9) and/or second-generation 802.11a radios (AIR-RM21A-x-K9 or AIR-RM22A-x-K9)
Cisco Aironet 1130 AG Series Access Points
Cisco Aironet 1100 Series Access Points that contain 802.11g radios (AIR-AP1121G-x-K9)

Self-Signed Certificate Manual Addition to the Controller for LWAPP-Converted APs
LWAPP secures the control communication between the AP and the WLC by means of a secure key distribution. The secure key distribution requires already provisioned X.509 digital certificates on both the LAP and the WLC. Factory-installed certificates are referenced with the term "MIC", which is an acronym for Manufacturing Installed Certificate. Aironet APs that shipped before July 18, 2005, do not have MICs. So these APs create an SSC when they are converted to operate in lightweight mode. Controllers are programmed to accept SSCs for the authentication of specific APs.
