Aironet 1130AG Help

I have 4 Aironet 1130AG WAP's
How do I configure them to use WPA Without a RADIUS server?
I have got one of them set up by adding a VLAN and a SSID and used in encription manager I set Cypher to TKIP.
In SSID I have set Key management to mandatory checked WPA and set the WPA pre-shared key.
On my laptop I can see the SSID and it is listed as Security Enabled network (WPA)
When I try to connect and and enter the WPA pre-shared key it tries to connect and never does, but the connection changes to Automatic.
How do I get these to work?
Thanks

Unless you need VLANs for your network you don't need to configure any on the AP to make this work and that may be where your problem lies. Try removing the VLAN and see if that helps.

  • Cisco Aironet 1130AG WPA2 Configuration

    Hi everyone,
First of all, let me introduice myself. I just graduated as an IT-engineer and started working in a company who gives support to their users, but also does installations. One day a week I am permanent located with 1 customer. I give support to users, but also implement new systems. I really love networking, but it's really not my strongest point. Especcialy when it comes to CLI. So I was hoping you could help me.
With this customer they have 4 floors with on each floor a Cisco Aironet 1130AG. At the moment they are using WEP as a protection with a really long key. The users find this annoying, but I am more concerned about the security perspective. So I want to implement WPA2 with a shorter key for the people to remember. On one floor, I also want to add a public network when other people want to connect and just need internet access.
Is it possible you guys could help me change the current set-up and give advices regarding the security and implementation. For me I would be great if all of the Access Points could work togheter and just be 1 wireless network. I don't know if this is possible and how to do it? For the public network I know there also need to be some changes in VLAN's, so I would appreciate the help there for setting up trunks. The firewall is a cisco ASA5505.
At the moment I am running this configuration:
I tried setting up this with the GUI, but it doesn't look like the configuration at the moment is shown in the GUI or maybe I am just looking in the wrong places.
Thanks again for helping me configure this!! Much appreciated!

  • Aironet 1130ag GUI problem

i can't have access into Cisco Aironet 1130ag via GUI. Meanwhile, i could ping it. Kindly assist

    Hi Fafolahan,
Just to add a note to the good info from Scott (+5 points here Scott :)
Converting a Lightweight Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode
You can convert an access point from lightweight mode back to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS Release that supports autonomous mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier). If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP.
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Note This section does not apply to Cisco C3201WMIC and Cisco C3201LAP.
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:
Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 On the PC where the TFTP server is located, perform these steps:
    a. Disable any software firewall products, such as Windows firewall, ZoneAlarm firewall, McAffee firewall, or others.
    b. Ensure all Windows files are visible. From Windows Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders.
Step 4 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point, c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point, and c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point.
Step 5 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.
Step 6 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 7 Press and hold MODE while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 8 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds) and then release.
Step 9 Wait until the access point reboots, as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.
Step 10 After the access point reboots, reconfigure it using the GUI or the CLI.

  • DHCP Server Assignment - Aironet 1130AG

I am attempting to configure a Cisco Aironet 1130AG to use a Windows Server 2003 DHCP server for assigning addresses to clients connecting to the access point. Does anyone know how to set this option? I cannot find it anywhere.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm having more or less the same problem but mine is even more low level than this. I have three 1130ag's that were setup in as PEEP authentication. The PEEP was proving to be a problem for whatever reason and we decided to go with WEP authentication and have the 1130's be regular old APs. Well apparently they can't or won't do that. I set one up as a standalone AP and it actually worked for about three weeks giving out DHCP addys to laptops then one day decided it wouldn't anymore. So I reset it using the MODE button and put the same information back into the device. Now it will allow clients to connect but never gives them a DHCP addy. We don't have and never had a Cisco Wireless controller and these have been working as PEEP WAPs for well at least a year or so. Why won't they simply give out DHCP to the clients?

  • Aironet 1130ag RAIDUS auth issues - what is no sg in radius-timers?

    Hi All.
    wonder if anyone can help
We have an aironet 1130ag in a remote office connected to the data centre over MPLS. The Radius server is based on server 2003
We have hundreds of these points set up exactly the same but this is the only one giving me issues, I even stripped the config and rebuilt it and then swapped with a new access point
The issue is that clients can't authenticate when connecting to the access point but provides nothing in event viewer. Checking the RADIUs server provides nothing either.
The access point error logs just state station: authentication failed
On looking deeper into the problem I enabled RADIUS debugging on the access point and got some interesting results, in particular is the line:
no sg in radius-timers: ctx 0x12EF0A4 sg 0x0000
I can't find out what no SG in Radius-timers actually means, but after that line appears I just see more retransmits and no sg fails.
I inspected the packets on the RADIUs server and found lots access requests coming from my access point and lots of access-challenges returning back from my RADIUS server - I'm not sure how often that's supposed to happen or if it's a one time occurance. I did however see directly after the first access-request that the RADIUS server returns with UDP and is fragmented, length is 1514...... could this be the problem? If so why cannot it hanlde fragmented packets? And what do I need to do to fix?
    Many thanks for the help
    Mark

the fragmented packet might be a red herring as I've just done the same packet inspection on the same radius server but coming from a different access point which works, I get the same fragmented UDP packet but the connection works.
    any ideas?

  • POE on Aironet 1130ag failes

Hi, I am trying to enable POE on our three new Aironet 1130ag but they fail to get the power from 6500 switches which have WS-X6348 modules and WS-F6K-VPWR sub modules. I disabled power injector and tried power negotiation and pre-standard compatibility without any success. Thanks.

    Hi Reza,
    I think you have already figured out the problem here :) This module - WS-F6K-VPWR only supplies 7W of PoE power and the 1130 requires 802.3af 15W PoE;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/hardware/Config_Notes/78_10826.html#wp31976
    We had this happen to us recently due to a PoE problem. The 1130 requires either IEEE 802.3af power or needs a setting on the WLC for using power injector or Cisco Pre-Standard PoE. Our older switches could only provide Cisco Pre-Standard PoE so we had to tweak the WLC Power setting for these AP's. Once we did that the Radios came right up. Here is a reference;
    You may have to enter the following info in the WLC;
While the AP boots, with its Intelligent Power Management feature, it negotiates with the switch via Cisco Discovery Protocol messages in order to provide the necessary power to the AP. Even though the power injector is connected to the AP, the AP that uses this Intelligent Power Management feature gives priority to the Cisco Discovery Protocol information in order to identify whether or not the switch can provide the power. Therefore, after the Cisco Discovery Protocol message shows that the switch does not provide sufficient power (since it is not an inline power capable switch), the AP disables its radios. At this time, the status LED of the AP turns orange and this error message is recorded:
[ERROR] : AP has not enough in-line power
to enable radio slot 1 In order to overcome this problem, issue the
config ap power injector enable installed
command on the controller that is connected with this AP. This command is available from controller version 3.2.116.21. Ensure that you use the correct version in the controller.
This command specifies that a power injector is used in order to supply sufficient power to the AP.

Cisco Aironet and WLAN Controller Product Power Options

    Have a look at this good Q&A;
    Q. As with the 1200 Series AP, can a 1130/1240 AP work with 7 watts of power to it from a pre-standard POE with 802.11g radio alone disabled?
    A. No, the power consumption on the AP1240 breaks down like this:
5 GHz only radio 11.56 watts
2.4 GHz only radio 12.96 watts
    Both radios on 15.0 watts
The power consumption on the AP1130 breaks down like this:
5 GHz only radio 9.750 watts
2.4 GHz only radio 9.910 watts
    Both radios on 12.20 watts
In either case, you can see that, for the AP to operate with a single radio, it requires more than 7 watts of power.

  • How to enter into interface configuration mode on aironet 1130AG

How can I enter into "interface configuration" on Aironet 1130AG, AIR-LAP1042N?

How can I do this ?

    George,
I ran into an exception the other day – lightweight 3500s (and presumably 3600s) are allowing config t without the debug precursor. The lab version I’m doing this on is 7.0.220.0. Do you have same/different results? I’m not sure if this is tied to the AP model or the lw code they’re running. I’ll need to do some more testing.

  • Windows 7 problem connecting to Aironet 1130AG AP

We currently have Windows XP Pro laptops that are configured to connect  with our Cisco Aironet 1130AG Access Point and everything works fine.  I am  trying to configure new Windows 7 laptops using the same settings we  used for the XP Pro laptops and they will not connect to the AP.  Have any of  you run into configuration issues with Windows 7 and Cisco wireless access point connectivity  and found a solution?  Is there any documenation on how to configure Windows 7 with Cisco Aironet 1130AG Access Points?

The wireless card is a Dell DW1501 wireless N WLAN Half Mini Card (Broadcom is the manufacturer).
I had the router setup to not broadcast.  I changed it to broadcast and Windows  7 still will not connect.  Do you have any other suggestions?  Windows 7 is  32-bit on the laptops and I read somewhere online that mentioned they had  the same problems with 32-bit but not 64-bit.  The XP laptops wireless  configuration is WPA-Enterprise with Cisco Leap along with user name and  password.

Does anyone know what a practical client limit would be to a Aironet 1130AG access point. I thought I saw somewhere 25 but I cannot find any info on this.

Between 20-25 per AP is viable.  I believe the docuementation says we can support up to 50 wireless clients total, but at around 25-30 you really start to see degredation do to load, as it's half-duplex shared media.

  • Aironet 350~~ Help Factory Settings must be RESTORED

    Hello,
I am the proud and happy new owner of the Cico Aironet 350 wireless access point. Now the issue (acquired by the company's buyout of another one), needless to say when I get it there is no username/passwords included. Just the cable/power supply and the wireless access point it self. Has anyone here ever worked with this unit before and if you have, do you know how to reset to the factory defaults?

    Hi Joshua,
    Here is the method to do a factory reset;
Reset the AP 350 That Runs Cisco IOS Software
Complete the steps in this section in order to reset an AP 350 that runs Cisco IOS Software.
Note: Cisco IOS Software-based APs have a default configuration that includes a username and password combination. Both the username and password are "Cisco", which is case-sensitive. After you reset to factory defaults, be prepared to give "Cisco" as both the username and password when you are prompted by either the GUI or the CLI.
The AP350 does not have a MODE button to reset the AP to factory defaults. So, if neither the GUI or CLI is available with sufficient privileges in the AP350, complete these steps to delete the current configuration and return all access point settings to the factory defaults using the CLI.
Reboot the access point by removing power and reapplying power. Let the access point boot until the command prompt appears and the access point begins to inflate the image. When you see these lines on the CLI, press ESC: Loading "flash:/" ...########################################################################### ################################################################################ ################################################################################ ####################

  • Guest wifi using RV180 and Aironet 1130AG

How would I configure a "guest" wireless network, with a different key/password, that uses a different subnet than the existing network?
We have a simple 192.168.1.x subnet currently, with the Aironet as our only AP.  The Aironet support a "guest" wireless function, but how do I make that work with the RV180?

    Good morning
Hi  Dave , thanks for using our forum, my name is Johnnatan and I am part of the Small business Support community. In order to configure different wireless subnets in your rv180, first at all you have to create different vlan (subnets) then associate these vlan to a specific SSID in your Aironet, you can configure each SSID with differents passwords, I could help you with the RV180 configuration, in order to configure your Aironet you can post your question in  the wireless section so you can have more feedback on your case, in order to create your vlan you can follow these instructions:
