Aironet 1260 as bridges
Is it possible to create a wireless site to site link using 1260 access points as bridges (like the 1300 series)?
Also if so, can you use 11n channel bonding on the bridge link?
I need to link 2 buildings together wirelessly approximately 70 metres apart. There is direct line of sight between them.
Are you using autonomous APs? or controller-based APs?
Never tested but I don't think there will be any issue connecting them as a bridge eitherway with or without channel bonding.
It all depends on your antennas gain and type.
If you have directional antennas with LOS cleared it will be very good. It still depends on the antenna's gain however.
You may try them wi h1260 APs. I don't unfortunately have 1260 APs to test with.

Aironet 350 Wireless Bridge Problem
I have inherited a wireless link between two building that used a pair of Aironet 350 wireless bridges. I say used because one took a lightning strike and is fried. I need to see the configuration on the remaining bridge to set up the new bridge but no one knows the user name or password to access the remaining functioning 350. How do I reset this old buzzard? I have tried all the instructions I have found on this site and others. There is no reset button. I found this out by disassembling another Aironet 350 we had which has also taken a strike. I cannot set up the new 1300 without knowing the config of what it will be talking to. I have been able to connect to the 350 with a serial cable and I can see some of the information. But the only thing I get is the ip address for fe0. I have attached the file I captured to this post. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
If you know the IP of the 350, put a laptop on the same subnet and use a crossover cable to web to its GUI. VxWorks CLI sucks!
If you can get hold of a pair of 1231 APs, they can be configured to run in bridge mode and use the same antennas as the 350s. Benefits are IOS and G radios. -
Aironet 1300 wireless Bridges connection loss, help!
Hi,
We have 2 Cisco Aironet 1300 wireless bridges with yaggi antennas.
The connection drops sometimes (every 2 or 3 days) and never comes up again.
When we reboot the non-root bridge the connection works again. We swapped the complete unit but still the same.
For logs see attached file.
What can be the problem? The antennas are not aligned correctly?
Thx in advance
greetings,
MarcHow long is the path and what were the results of the survey?
Were the connectors waterproofed?
Please describe the sytem from the bridge to the antenna including cable type, length, path, outdoors, indoors etc. -
We have three Access Points, two Cisco Aironet 1260 and one 1240AG. Originally, the SSID was hidden on all three AP's and users had to go to Other Networks and type in the SSID and password to access the WAN. About a few months ago, the network started broadcasting to the public. I am trying to make the SSID hidden again, any suggestions? I have tried going to the Security tab, choosing the SSID Manager and setting single guest mode to none but it has not helped. Any suggestions? I have researched this a lot. If you are confused on my situation ask me questions.
MichaelAmjad,
The SSID is based on the company I work for so I think it is safe to rule out other people with the same SSID. We are in a building with a few companies.
I did not get a chance to try your method yet because the AP's are hanging from the ceiling and I think I need to download something to change the CLI. I manage at the AP configs off of their IP addresses all the time.
I got the SSID to remain hidden now which forces me to connect to it through other networks and knowing the SSID in advance. This what I was trying to figure out. Here's what I changed.
On the http AP interface I clicked Security, SSIA Manager, then I went down to Client Authentication Key Management and changed WPA to WPAv2.
I had the encryption set to WPA2 on two of the AP's but the third one is an older model and only can do WPA. Hopefully, I finally fixed this. -

AIRONET 1260 with new radius cisco ACS 4.x
Hi, I have a new CISCO AIRONET 1260
I have CISCO ACS 5.1 radius for VPN on ASA and tried to configure an NDG on it for AIRONET 1260 too and worked fine with IEEE 802.1x CISCO EAP-FAST authentication
As I had some trouble to let users to authenticate only on VPN if are VPN users and only on CISCO AIRONET if need only WIFI AIRONET
I tried exception policies rules but something not working. VPN was ok but not WIFI access denied for rule policy access
I decided to install CISCO ACS 4.x on Windows 2003 that is on ACS 5 DVD
I created NDG as done on ACS 5 put a shared secret , put on AIRONET too as done for ACS 5 but I receive an error against ACS 4.x
To troubleshout it I tried

but not work ! I think to have done all fine owever on ACS 5 it worked in 5 minutes
I searched log inside ACS 4 and found "Invalid message authenticator in EAP request" and I found this:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-3991
Changed shared secret more times but ever not workign with ACS 4
what's wrong?
I need to have user and password prompt on client trying to authentincate on AIRONET WIFI and I need ACS INTERNAL USER no active directory, no LDAP , no external user databaseI have solved

I wait your good answer.
Thanks.

Ping - Telnet Not Traversing Aironet C1310 Wireless Bridge
aironet root-bridge <----> aironet non-root-bridge10.80.254.3/28 <----> 10.80.254.4/28
The bridges are associated and devices (pc, voip, printer) on the non-root side can access the network on the root side.
I can ping and telnet to devices on the same side of each bridge, but not accross the bridges.
This is probabably a simple fix, but I'm really stumped and would greatly appreciate the input.

Aironet 1260 and external Antenna
I know you can put a minimum of 3 AIR-ANT-2422 antenna on the 1261 AP but my question is, can you mix and match antenna?
Currently there is an AIR-ANT-24120 used on an older 1200 model. Upgrading to a 1261. The 24120 is 12db and 2422 is 2.4db.
Environment is Manufacturing floor with 30' ceilings, worried about coverage. Can the 24120 work on the 1261 or am I stuck with the 2422s?
ThanksYou can't mix-and-match these two. AIR-ANT-24120 is a 12 dBi antenna. The 1260 will not support anything higher than 6 dBi because this model simply doesn't have enough power to do so.
The 1260, 3500e and 3600e doesn't have enough power because in the past people kept complaining that the 1250 needed 20.0w PoE power. Now the the 1250 doesn't have any limitation about the maximum (maybe it does but I haven't seen or heard of it) gain support. So Cisco cranked down the power requirement of the new WAPs and balanced it to the antenna gain. -
I wanted to ask if I was looking to deploy a 1260 access point, would I need to replace the 4400 WLC with a 5500 or will the access point work with a 4400?
Hi Marcus,
The AP 1260 is supported only after WLC software version 7.0 and it is supported on 4400 as well but we need t orun 7.0 and above software release..

Image Recovery for Cisco Aironet 1300 Outdoor Access Point
We purchased two 1300 APs for outside. There is a new release for the image that we wanted to use so, we have the latest security updates. We downloaded, logged onto the access point just fine, but the image never took. After four hours with a direct connection, it was still going and this morning we came in and it just keep rebooting. Our network guy states it looks like a corrupt image. We can barely do anything and since there is no "mode" button like the earlier models, I have not found anything on web sites or forums to help us reload a good image to the access point. I would appreciate any insight someone has and/or where to look for this. I logged on and downloaded about every manual on the 1300 I could find, but have not found a good way to fix this. Not even the upgrade tool will connect since it just keeps rebooting.
Hi Bruce,
Because (as you correctly noted) the 1300 does not have a mode button you could try this method;
Complete the steps in this section in order to reset Cisco IOS Software-based bridges:
If the privileged command prompt ap# is available in the CLI, the write erase command and the reload command erase the startup configuration and reset the unit.
If the GUI is available, choose System Software > System Configuration. Press the Reset to Defaults button.
Aironet 1300 Series Bridges do not have a MODE button to reset the AP to factory defaults. So, if neither the GUI or CLI is available with sufficient privileges, complete these steps to delete the current configuration and return the entire bridge settings to the factory defaults using the CLI.
Open the CLI with a Telnet session or a connection to the bridge console port.
Reboot the bridge by removing and reapplying power.
Allow the bridge to boot until the command prompt appears and the bridge begins to inflate the image.
Press ESC when you see lines that are similar to these on the CLI:
Loading "flash:/c1310-k9kw-7mx.v122_15_ja.200040314-k9w7-mx.v122_15_ja.20040314"

Messages that are similar to these appear:

After the bridge reboots, reconfigure the bridge with the web browser interface, the Telnet interface, or Cisco IOS Software commands.
Note: The bridge is configured with the factory default values that include:
The IP address, which is set to receive an IP address with DHCP. If you do not have a DHCP server, you can access the bridge using the default IP address of 10.0.0.1 using HTTP/HTTPS or Telnet. Once you gain access to the bridge via Telnet or GUI, you can modify the IP address of the bridge.
Note: This default IP address of 10.0.0.1 becomes available only for a short period. So, make sure that you assign your own IP address to the bridge within that period of time.
The default username and password, "Cisco".
From this doc;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_password_recovery09186a00800949d0.shtml#ca_1310_ser
One other thing, be careful with the new IOS that you aren't loading a LWAPP Recovery Image. (it almost sounds like what may have happened)
Hope this helps!
