Aironet 350 Bridge

Can you configure Bridge to work in a full duplex mode?

... or gang 2 or 3 350s together and load balance.
each one will still be half-duplex, but the potential for 2 or 3 to be tied up transmitting without receiving at the same time will be reduced.
Plus the aggregate pipe is 22 or 33Mbps nominal.

  • Aironet 350 Bridge associations

    Hi,
I have 2 aironet 350 bridges that keep disassociating and then reassociating constantly. Is there any way to stop this form happening?

Parent is "Root Bridge", end station is "Non-root bridge w/out clients." Thanks for pointing me to the Express setup page--that's the one I had in mind, but I haven't been there since day one. Now I need to figure out why, with those settings, it's allowing client connections...
The only MAC address filtering I see is (per documentation) "allow or disallow the forwarding of unicast or multicast packets either sent from or addressed to specific MAC addresses." When I look at the actual Address Filters page, it only allows me to specify "Dest Address." Not much help if I don't want to allow other connections *to* the bridge...
When I'm not in Express Setup, and go to the Setup page, I have the option at the bottom of the page (Network Ports | Bridge Radio or Network Ports | Root Radio) to go to an Advanced page. While there, I see a field called "Radio Cell role." The Root Radio Advanced page shows the Radio Cell role as "Access Point / Root." The other options would be "Client/Non-root" and "Repeater/non-root." The Bridge Radio Advanced page shows the role as "client/non-root." I am *assuming* that the Root radio here, although called an "access point" is not an access point for clients (i.e., its role is that of the access point for the far end(s) of the bridge).
I can't find anyplace to stop broadcasting the SSID...
    Thanks for the help!

  • Monitoring Aironet 350 Bridge Link Signal Strength

    Hello,
Does anyone have ideas/examples on using SNMP to query 350 series bridges to obtain running data on signal strength & quality? I would like to use something like MRTG to monitor signal strength, along with link usage.
Looking through the MIB files (especially ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/AWCVX-MIB.my)
it looks like awcDot11TpFdbLatestRxSignalStrength is what I'm after, however I cannot see how to properly reference this. When I walk the tree from 1.3.6.1.4.1.522.3.12 it doesn't seem to list the relevant values.

  • Aironet 350 configuration to Aironet 1300

Is it possible to download an ini configuration from an Aironet 350 bridge, convert it and upload it to an Aironet 1300 bridge?

  • Aironet 350 Failure...Twice

A couple of months ago, I installed three Aironet 350 Bridges, each connected to directional antenna via LMR400 cable. The directionals are pointed towards an access point at the front of the campus. After abou 36-48 hours of use, the ethernet ports on the bridges locks up, and actually dies in two of the instances. I figured that it was a bad group of bridges, so we replaced them with three more, only to have two of the replacements do the exact same thing. When the port crashes, the red light comes on and stays on, even after you remove the rj45 connector. Afterwards, you are unable to access the bridge via a browser, so there is little means of troubleshooting available. I haven't had a lot of luck with the reseller, and this customer has been down since March!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Aside from on-site consulting (possibly on a contingency basis), I can only suggest that you pull it all into a lab, check all the configs, upgrade all the firmware and confirm that it's reliable before putting it back in.

  • Aironet 350 Wireless Bridge Problem

I have inherited a wireless link between two building that used a pair of Aironet 350 wireless bridges.  I say used because one took a lightning strike and is fried.  I need to see the configuration on the remaining bridge to set up the new bridge but no one knows the user name or password to access the remaining functioning 350.  How do I reset this old buzzard?  I have tried all the instructions I have found on this site and others.  There is no reset button.  I found this out by disassembling another Aironet 350 we had which has also taken a strike.  I cannot set up the new 1300 without knowing the config of what it will be talking to.  I have been able to connect to the 350 with a serial cable and I can see some of the information.  But the only thing I get is the ip address for fe0.  I have attached the file I captured to this post.  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.

If you know the IP of the 350, put a laptop on the same subnet and use a crossover cable to web to its GUI.  VxWorks CLI sucks!
If you can get hold of a pair of 1231 APs, they can be configured to run in bridge mode and use the same antennas as the 350s.  Benefits are IOS and G radios.

  • Need help on Aironet 1300 bridges

    Greeting,
We have just upgraded two Aironet 1300 bridges (from cisco 350) on two buildings about 100 yards apart. They are only running as bridges. One is set up as root bridge and another one is setup as non-root bridge. Root bridge is in the main building direct connect to Cat 4506. For some reason the root bridge has some intermittant problem connect to the network. We are running the IOS 12.3(8). We changed the cable but the problem still occured. Everytime we have to reboot the root bridge in order to get it back. but all the interfaces in the root bridge show " up / up" prior to reload. The "show tech" looks fine on the root bridge. Any suggestion? Shall I change root bridge to workgroup bridge?
    really appreciate for any helps,
    Gene

    Hi Steprodr,
I just need to clearify that the power injector is on the non-root bridge? I think the power are fine on both bridges when the problem occured. We used cisco 350 bridges before the upgrade. So the cable and port are still remain the same. The problem is more going towards from root bridge come back to Cat 4506 because both root and non root bridges can ping each other when the problem occured.
    thanks,
    Gene

  • Aironet 350 Bandwidth throughput

Hi I have a Aironet 350 point to point wireless bridge. It will operate at 10Mb/s half duplex. What is the maximum data throuput that I can achieve I have been quoted a figure of 3.4Mb/s? Is there any general documentation that can help me?

  • Aironet 350 with pismo antenna?

Hi people. I recently bought a cisco aironet 350 pccard wireless adapter for my pbg3 500. It works, i use os x 10.3.5. The problem is it doesnt reach very far. Last week a friend of mine came with his macbook and he had full signal at places where I could not even connect.
Doing some research I found that removing the fat sticker placed on the part of the card that remains outside the powerbook, there are 2 antennas and a jack for an external one. So I tought I could use the one built-in the display that is meant for airport cards. The problem is they can not be conected directly (the cable doesnt reach and the conectors are different anyway. To make thinks worse, the powerbook cable doesnt even have the conector, just the wire. I tried making a bridge between this cable and the cisco jack (using a 15 cm cable) but doesnt improve the signal, so I think im doing something wrong, or the pismo antenna is no better than whats built into the cisco card. Maybe someone here has some experience on using a non airport card with the airport antenna.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Pepo

Thanks Brent. I have a spare ibook display that I can use for testing the antena. Problem is I dont want to burn the pccard amplifier. I dont know how the antena works, or if there is already an amplifier in the display, so if I connect the output of the card to the airport antena, I may burn the card. If I touch the antena lead it has power, as well as the pc card, so I dont think they can be connected toghether.
Also another doubt I have is actually how the antenna works. If I check the jack with a tester, I can see that the shield and the conductor of the wire arent isolated from each other, so then how do you wire them to the card when they are bridged already?
Sorry, hope I explain myself a bit at least, my english is not good enough I think for this kind of things.
    Thanks again.

  • Aironet 350 reset to factory config over vacation.

I have an Aironet 350 non-root bridge that was reset back to its factory default configuration over a 5 day period of inactivity (Christmas vacation). I didn't set it up, so I can't say too much about how it was configured before except that it was running 12.0 firmware.
I have upgraded it to 12.04 and reconfigured it and it seems to be running fine.
Any ideas on what could have caused this? Could I have had a security breach?

That could be very likely. Are you using a default configuration for security, or have you turned user-manager on and added a management username/password. Note that someone could have potentially done this via SNMP also.

  • 350 bridge

I've got got 1500's deployed with a controller. What I need is bridge set-up over at a construction sight with a camera. I have a left over 350 bridge and repeater. So far I have not been able to get them to attach to the 1500. They will attach to a 1200 with noproblem.
I've entered the Mc in the controller, in same sub-net, and checked the encryption.
Looked around for info on this, but time is short as always.

    Hi Thomas,
    I think that you are running into the following;
    Q. Are the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series Mesh APs interoperable with other Cisco Aironet APs? What are the Cisco devices that are compatible with mesh APs?
    A. No. The Cisco Aironet 1500 Series is Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP)-based and does not interoperate with Cisco IOS Software-based Cisco Aironet Wireless Bridges or APs that exist. However, it does interoperate with all LWAPP-based APs and WLAN controllers.
    From this good Q&A doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_qanda_item09186a0080094d01.shtml#aps
    Q. Is the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series compatible with the Cisco Aironet 1400 Series and Cisco Aironet 1300 Series?
    A. The Cisco Aironet 1500 Series is LWAPP-based and will not interoperate with autonomous Cisco Aironet wireless bridges or access points such as the Cisco Aironet 1400 Series and the Cisco Aironet 1300 Series in autonomous mode. In addition, it will not bridge to the Cisco Aironet 1300 Series in lightweight mode because in lightweight mode, the Cisco Aironet 1300 Series operates only as an access point (and not a bridge). The Cisco Aironet 1500 Series will, however, co-exist in the same WLAN as a Cisco Aironet 1300 Series in lightweight mode (for example, within the same wireless LAN controller or across multiple controllers within the same mobility group), allowing a wireless client to roam seamlessly between the Cisco Aironet 1500 Series and 1300 Series Access Points.

  • Aironet 350 Access Point needs security

I have been asked to help a fledgling school lock down their wireless network.  The network is currently setup as 3 Aironet 350 Access Points with operating on the same subnet distributed around the school.
These have NOT been updated or touched since the day they were installed, by all acounts.  I think they are running VXworks.  My issue is that most support links that might prove helpful seem to be broken.
    A few simple questions:
Can the Aironet 350 be secured and then used with a simple shared key?  This link seems to say no, that you must have Cisco software on the user computer as well.  that certainly can't be right, can it?
I'm clearly out of my comfort zone with these, but they just don't have anyone to do this for them.  It looks like they need to be flashed to IOS and then able to use WPA but not WPA2?  I'm having trouble finding a firmware lik for the 350 as well because it's EOL.
Basically, any help or information is welcome!  I'm ready to just pull the plug on them and call them secure!

350 APs (not bridges) can be converted to IOS.  Then they can do WPA-PSK TKIP.  Downside is they only have 802.11b radios.  The latest IOS they can run is old but could probably be setup with WDS using an internal RADIUS server on one.
The upgrade tool and image are still available for download.  I'm attaching a .pdf of instructions.
    You need these files:
    Aironet-AP-Cisco-IOS-Conversion-Tool-v2.1.exe
    AP350-Cisco-IOS-Upgrade-Image-v2.img

  • Security on Aironet 1300 bridges

I am a newbie on this fourm. I required your suggestions and recommendations. I have aironet 1300 bridges. I want to connect them in point to multipoint envt.
I want to have one root bridge and rest as non root bridges. But i want to implement authentication of non-root bridges through root bridge. Please suggest what is the latest and strongest authentication and security protocols that i can use. Please i am looking for an early response.

EAP Authentication type provides the highest level of security for your wireless network. By using the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) to interact with an EAP-compatible RADIUS server, the root access point/bridge helps another access point/bridge and the RADIUS server to perform mutual authentication and derive a dynamic unicast WEP key. The RADIUS server sends the WEP key to the root access point/bridge, which uses it for all unicast data signals that it sends to or receives from the non-root access point/bridge. The root access point/bridge also encrypts its broadcast WEP key (entered in the access point/bridge's WEP key slot 1) with the non-root access point/bridge's unicast key and sends it to the non-root access point/bridge.

  • Securing Aironet 350 Access Point

    Hello -
My small network is operating correctly using the Aironet 350 Access Point and multiple clients. However, the setup is not secure.
How is it possible to secure access to our AP?
Specifically: I would like to establish a WEP key, as some devices (i.e. pocket-pc's) do not support more advanced security schemes.
    Thanks,

Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) authentication, also called 802.1x authentication, provides dynamic WEP keys to wireless users. Dynamic WEP keys are more secure than static, or unchanging, WEP keys.
For more details on configuring both types of WEP refer the following document,

  • Aironet 1310 Bridges keep losing connection

There was a similar thread about this last year and I tried what was listed in there to no avail.  I have 2 Aironet 1310 bridges, one as a route bridge and the second as a non-route with clients.  These worked great for nearly a year, we had no problems keeping the connection up.  They were not connected for the last few months but nothing was changed on the configuration, when I put them back up they reconnected just fine and worked for about an hour, not they randomly disconnect with the same message in the log entries below.  Is there something wrong with them now?  The are using the same antennas as before and are in the same exact locations.

I am not at the remote location any more, but the route bridge had a signal of -78 dB and a SNR of -22 dB.  The non-route has -77dB for signal and a SNR of -22 dB.  The location has line of sight, over water with nothing in the way.
Since I last posted I changed the fragmentation and RTS thresholds back to default from 4000 and it has been up for 24 hours now.  I am hoping that it has made the difference.
