Airplane Mode/ Mobile Network Access

Please create quicker access to the mobile network radio toggle. When putting my phone I'm a locker or entering somewhere with poor coverage, my battery kills itself trying to find a signal. It would be much easier if a user could swipe down (to pull the rotation lock, alarm, settings, etc) and have one of the option be airplane mode or at least mobile network, like the older OS had. Thank you!

Thanks for the feedback.
There is a setting for Airplane Mode, it is located under Settings>Network Connections. If you use this feature it will save on the battery life so your BlackBerry Z10 doesn't looking for any network connections.

Mac Pro won't wake for network access & streaming

I used to enjoy streaming media from my G5 to various UPnP devices, as well as streaming videos to my iPhone using Air Video and accessing the G5 from my MacBook over my home network, and over the internet using Back to my Mac. But after upgrading to a Mac Pro, I find it no longer wakes from sleep mode for network access of this kind. I can stream media and access it from my notebook while it’s awake, but when it goes to sleep after ten minutes, it disappears from the MacBook’s Finder sidebars and can no longer be reached with UPnP or Air Video.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Does the Mac Pro (or maybe Snow Leopard) sleep more deeply, and if so, is there any way around this? For the record, I have the Wake for Network Access box checked in Energy Saving preferences, and my network is controlled through a FRITZ!Box router; I don’t have a Time Capsule or AirPort Express.

Well, believe it or not sometimes you may have to enable and then re-enable it for it to "take".
It doesn't happen very often but every once in a while it seems to rear it's ugly head. It seems to be hit or miss on what program it comes up on.
Try going back into the "Energy Saver" (10.6.x) settings and un-check the box and then re-check it again, or un-check it then close the window then open it again and re-check the box.
Hope it was that easy...

Z10 won't access mobile network

Hi everyone. My Z10 STL 100-1 won't give me an option to switch on the mobile network (its protected). The airplane mode is off. When I go to Sim card settings, the phone doesn't sense the Sim card. I'm using a micro sim card. I've done a battery pull, taken off Sim card and put it back in, left the the battery off the phone for some time as it is also very hot and not charging fully but when I put the battery on, there is still no access to mobile network. I can't make calls at all. Please help! K.

Network Access Manager - Service (Secure Mobility Client)

We are currently working on Deploying the Secure Mobility Client.
1. We are looking at the ability to stop the Network Acess Manager without Admin rights, According to the Cisco Documentation on this:
"Stopping and Starting the Network Access Manager"
Users with local administrator privileges can start and stop the Network Access Manager. Users without local administrator privileges cannot start and stop the Network Access Manager without using the service password defined in the Authentication panel of the profile editor.
Question: I am unable to find the said option in the Authentication panel in the profile editor
2. Since we will be using NAM for all of our computers, and since some users will not be using the VPN, we will need to push out profiles to the users (This is easy however we are concerned about updates and getting those pushed). A collegue shared that he head at Cisco Live2011 that there is an option in NAM to update it's profiles by connecting to the VPN-Headend without actually authenticating and logging into the VPN.
I know if a user connects to the VPN Headend we can update the profiles on NAM/VPN etc... however without them connecting I'm not sure if there is any way to do so?

There is nothing to be done with your anyconnnect client.... if needed changes needs to ne done at VPN FW/Router where your anyconnect connection is established..... here i guess your corporate office is having this VPN server.....
They have configured it as tunnel all mode... means all traffic will be taken through VPN... see from your output preferred default route is pointed to 192.168.0.101, which is a vpn gateway....
If needed anyconnect vpn configuration needs to be changed from tunnel all to split-tunnel....

when Airplane mode is on you can turn on either or both wifi and bluetooth
It makes it clear that airplane mode turns off processes involving cellular networks, which doubtless involve rather strong transmissions, while allowing others such as wi-fi and Bluetooth. I'm puzzled though why the iPod rather than the iPhone has the airplaine mode when it has no cellular capacity. Perhaps it's there but doesn't actually do anything other than making it possible to conform to a request to switch into airplane mode, and display an airplane icon to satisfy flight attendants who are checkng up on you!

If not:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

If you want all the songs from an artist on your phone you can to to the artist view, tap on the artist, scroll to the bottom of the list and you will see a Download All button. This works for playlists and albums too (scroll to the bottom and tap the Download All button). I suppose if you wanted all your music on your phone you could create a smart playlist in iTunes on your computer that would contain all your music, upload it to iTunes match (Store>Update iTunes Match), and then you would get a Download All button at the bottom of this playlist on your phone to download all your songs.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you have no service on the iPhone. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. There is one step you did not mention trying that i think is worth trying.
If you see No Service in the status bar of your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
Remove the SIM card. If the SIM card is damaged, worn, or bent, or if it's too big or small for the SIM tray, contact your carrier for a new one. Then reinsert the SIM card.

Unable to access Internet using a Mobile Network

Hello friends
I recently updated my SE Xperia mini pro 17i (2011 model) to ICS, initially there were some issues and I had to re-update it to finally get authentic interface of ICS. Even after the successful update I am unable to use the mobile network to access Internet, the only way is to use a Wifi instead. Can somebody please help me out with this issue?

The first thing I would advise doing is contacting your current network provider and have them send you through the relevant internet settings.

HT204266 iPad works except I cannot access anything at the App Store (Also I have 'no service' in the top left corner that will not change even if I switch the airplane mode on/off)

Recently, my iPad has stopped allowing any functions to be performed in the App Store. I can access but cannot update or acquire any apps.
The rest of the iPad appears to be working other than the 'no service' in the topleft corner. I tried to change that by switching the airplane mode on/off with no luck.

After the cloud and iTunes Match, Can I access all my music in airplane mode?

Seems like Apple hasn't been very clear about this. So now all my music is being stored in the cloud. That should allow me to free up space on my phone...but if I turn on airplane mode, what would be left on my phone if I delete my music locally? If I can't delete the music locally on my phone, what's the point of storing it in the cloud? just backup?

Of course the music in the cloud which has not been downloaded to your iDevice can't be accessed while airplane mode is active. However, all music that has been previously downloaded to your iDevice can be played.
iTunes Match is not designed to be a streaming service. When you listen to music it is downloaded to your iDevice.

XP Mode Crashes When Accessing Network Shares

I am using Windows 7 Professional and have installed XP Mode to use a legacy accounting application.
In the Virtual Machines folder on the host under settings I have set the network adapter to Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.
Under XP Mode, I have set XP to be a member of the workgroup and I am logging on with a user who can access network. When I run XP Mode I can access the internet with Internet Explorer.
If I then go to "My Network Places" "View Workgroup Computers" I can see all the workgroup computers on the network. If I then double click on a computer name Windows Explorer shows me all the shared directories on that computer.
This is where the problem occurs. If I then click on a shared directory XP Mode instantly exits and restarts. (Windows 7 is unaffected.)
Does anyone have any idea's as how I can access all the shared directories to view the files stored on the network.

Can other computer in the workgroup see the shared directory in Windows XP Mode? I don't know exactly what you mean by this. No other computers in the workgroup are running XP Mode. They are running native XP Professional. (It was my original idea to run
a physical XP laptop together with Windows 7 desktop to access the data files required, before I read about XP Mode.)
All workgroup computers can access network shares, if the user has appropriate permissions. I have shared the "Shared Documents" under XP Mode and this share can be accessed by all other computers on the network including the host. However, if I access this
share from the guest via "View Workgruop Computers" as in my first post, XP Mode instantly quits and restarts. For information the XP Mode user name and password is the same as the host user name and password.
I have checked the Event Viewer both before I first posted and again today. There are no entries recorded. However, I should have mentioned that upon restarting XP Mode I get "The system has recovered from a serious error" the details of which are:-

The page talks about testing RAM. RAM is fine. There is 8GB of physical RAM. It was tested with memtest86+ v2.10 and v4.20 separately. v4.20 was run for 12 hours plus with no errors detected. I have tried adjusting XP Mode RAM under settings but this makes
no difference.
The issue happens when accessing all shared directories including empty ones.
I clean booted the computer and yes the issue still exists.
If I use dos to view a directory under XP Mode the problem exists, by typing
\\SERVER\SHARE\FOLDERNAME .
By using the host I can map a shared directory. Then under XP Mode I can access the share from my computer. I have noticed by mapping S: to a Network Share that in Windows Explorer in XP Mode the path is
\\tsclient\S\ . Is this normal?
Under Windows 7 the same share appears as S:\ as I would expect.
However, I would prefer not to have to map and un-map different Network Shares to drive letters.
It should have been mentioned in my first post, host is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I don't know the build but it is full retail version (not upgrade) from when first released - prior to SP1. All updates have been applied including SP1.

Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client, Network Access Module, wired PEAP

I am testing AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, Network Access Module as supplicant with PEAP authentication for wired network users. With default configuration it is working well. With default configuration it is Trusting any Root CA certificates installed on the OS. Do you know how to configure NAM that it will validate ACS certificate with specific Root CA Certificate ?
In Network Access Module profile editor it has two options about Certificates:
One is Certificate Trusted Authority which has two options by its self first is too trust any Root CA certificate that is installed on OS, and second is to import Root CA certificate in Profile. Potentially Second option can help in my case, I can manually import Root CA certificates in each profile. But I think it will be hard to update Root CA certificates in future in that way.
Second is Certificate Trusted Server Rules, this option have matching capability by certificate Common Name. For what can be used this option ?

Normally the way it works is that you set up your Enterprise Root CA, and then have it issue a certifcate for the AAA server (ie ACS, ISE, etc). You then install this certificate on the AAA server and (in an Active Directory environment) add the Root CA certificate to the client systems local certificate store. What that means is that any certificates (such as the one installed on the AAA server) that are presented to the client that are signed by the root are automatically trusted.
Server validation is an extra step in terms of proving the identity of the AAA server to the authenticating client. As such, when you build the policy in the NAM editor, it would look similar to the image below:
I like to use the CN (Common Name) as the match criteria and build my CA issuance policy to always include the FQDN in the certificate for identity purposes.
