Airplane power adapter cord for PowerBook..?

Apple recently announced a power adaptor cord for the MacProBook to be used on the airlines..
Is there also a similar product that is available for the PowerBook G4 ?

Hi Robert,
Cords for G4 Powerbooks are only available from third-parties, like Madsonline - http://www.madsonline.com/Auto_Adapters.html .
Apple has only released a magsafe version to avoid having to license the connector.

  • Power adapter/cord for the Power Mac G5 A1177 EMC 2023?

How do I determine the correct power adapter/cord for the Power Mac G5 A1177 EMC 2023? I suppose I would need a part number or identifier to look for a replacement.
So far, I haven't been able to determine the answer from Apple's support search or other search methods. I do not have an original user's manual but the one I found on the net doesn't specify the correct power cord.

    Hi-
That is a Late 2005 Dual Core machine?

  • Power Adapter Cord Transformer/Brick/Block Thingy

The power brick/block on my power adapter cord get sooooo hot! How hot is too hot? This is a replacement cord after the first one's magsafe died. This one is the 85W. This one is working fine, but the block is so hot (seems especially hot today). If I hold it up to my ear I can hear a faint buzzing noise. Is this normal? Thanks.

OK, thanks. That's what I have been doing (letting it sit asleep but on) have actually had this for... hmmm I think its having a 2 year birthday! But this brick is new and I think it might have just been the intensity of the cpu and the location of the brick. I hope. It was HOT. I could pick it up, but if I put my hand flat against it's flat side, it was too hot to keep my hand there. (is it of any use to actually measure the temp?) Right now it is on a table, actually near an open window so that is cool air, and it is just warm. Normal amount I think. Still making the buzzing only if I hold it up to my ear. Battery indicator says 96%. Cord itself is not warm at all neither is mag safe. I'm going to mark this as "solved." But do post if you/anyone has anything additional to add or if that one overheating episode sounds like a bad indicator of a problem. I don't want to leave it unattended if it is a fire risk. Most important of all because of our animals.

  • Power adapter cord will snap soon....

It appears my power adapter cord will snap soon... It's slightly cracked towards the end where the cord meets the rectangular magsafe connector.
Is there a way to fix this before it's too late?

The only way this can really happen is if:
1 - You accidentally tripped over the cable (or some other way) that yanked the Magsafe free from your MacBook by the cable. If this is the case, it did exactly what it is supposed to do... protect your MacBook from tumbling to the floor... sometimes at the cost of the much cheaper adapter.
2 - You've been disconnecting the Magsafe by pulling the cord... which would have the same effect as #1. In order to disconnect the Magsafe connector, you should be doing so at the connector itself, not by the cord.
There is no harm in seeing if Apple will replace it for you. I would not recommend attempting a repair on your own... especially since the damage is right at the connector. You don't really want to take a chance at creating a fire hazard for something that is reasonably inexpensive to replace.

  • Airplane Power Adapter

Hello. I'm going to start a loooong trip to very very far overseas and need to get an airplane power adapter. Any suggestions out there? I have no idea what to look for.
    Thanks!
    Jeremy

I thought I could use a airplane adapter on a airplane and I bought one from Kensington.
However, I couldn't use it because there were no power outlet around my seat on economy class.
I could watch lot of movies and play games using the on-demand entertainment system on the airplane though. It seemed like Linux base system on Airbus.

  • Correct Adapter/cord for 11-inch MBA, late 2010

I lost my adapter/cord for my 11-inch MBA, late 2010. looks like it needs an 85W adapter, but I can't find an 85W adapter/cord replacement cord. Why is this so difficult? MagSafe isn't coorect one. Anyone suggest where to find. Thanks

    Thanks. Will get this one.
But still a Q: When I go to System Information > Hardware > Power > AC Charger Information > Wattage it has 85. That was why I thought I needed 85W.
Read on Apple site that can run with higher wattage, but not lower wattage. 45W, 60W and 85W are same price. Any advantages to running higher wattage?

  • I'm traveling to London for the summer, does anyone know a good power adapter/converter for my MacBook Pro?

I'm traveling to London for the summer, does anyone know a good power adapter/converter for my MacBook Pro? I know there's the Travel Adapter Kit but it's only for iPhones, iPods, iPad, etc.

    Apple World Travel Adapter Kit
The World Travel Adapter Kit includes the Apple USB Power Adapter, USB Cable and six interchangeable AC adapter plugs for use with iPod, iPhone, and iPad. The adapter plugs can also be used with Apple MagSafe Power Adapters, Portable Power Adapters, and AirPort Express, so you can plug your power adapter into most electrical outlets around the world.

  • Does a usb cab to 60 Watt L-Tip Power Adapter charger for Apple MacBook Pro Laptop Charger exist

    does a usb cable
does a Usb cable to60 Watt L-Tip Power Adapter charger for Apple MacBook Pro Laptop Charger exist? i have an external battery pack i would like to use to charge my iphone and macbook pro.

Not that I am aware of.  An Internet search on your part will be required.  If you should find something to that effect, note it will not be endorsed by Apple and the magnetic connector will probably be in violation of Apple patents.
    Ciao.

  • 4G IPOD SHOWS POWER ADAPTER CORD

HELP!!! My 4g ipod has a frozen screen showing the power adapter cord connecting to an outlet even though I connected it to my computer. I just updated it with the latest software and it still shows it.

"My 4g ipod has a frozen screen showing the power adapter cord connecting to an outlet even though I connected it to my computer...the weird thing is is that i don't even have an AC charger."
    I am confused...
You might want to look at Knowledge Base Document #93936 on iPod iconology or what does this picture on my iPod mean?. It says,
"This icon appears on the screen during an update or restore that occurs when iPod is connected to the computer via a low or no-power connector. This can include some USB ports and 4-pin FireWire ports. When this appears, disconnect iPod from the computer and connect it to the power adapter. Then plug the power adapter into a power outlet. The update or restore will complete and iPod will restart to the main menu."
    I hope that helps,
    Jon
[Never mind, I read it wrong. I thought it was plugged into the wall outlet and even though it had been plugged into the computer]

  • Is this power adapter ok for Macbook?

I'd like to get a second 60w magsafe power adapter for my Macbook Aluminum (bought Dec 2008). Here is what I'm looking at http://cgi.ebay.com/60W-AC-Power-Adapter-Charger-For-Apple-MacBook-MagsafeW0QQitemZ370224264486QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain0?hash=item563315f526. The power adapter model number matches mine (A1184). But I don't see my Macbook model number (A1278) listed in those on the page. The Macbooks listed seem to be older models.
The power adapter looks to be exactly the same as mine. Is there any reason I shouldn't buy it?

Thanks. How do you know it isn't original?
I'm trying to save about 40 bucks since originals on eBay are around $35 + shipping. Is it worth it or is new better?
Here they have the new adapter and the older (mine): http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=60wmagsafe+poweradapter&mco=Nzc1MjMwNg. If I get new, guess it is better to go with the newest of the new.

  • Macbook pro magsafe power adapter - cord melted

Has anyone had the cord on their power adapter burn or melt through? I've had my Macbook Pro for 3+ years and taken great care of it. I experienced the battery bulge issues and has two batteries replaced under AppleCare. I came home yesterday to find this:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/jdgrif/MacbookProPowerAdapter?feat=directlink
    Any ideas?
I realize I'm outside of my AppleCare now but I still find this alarming.
    Thanks.

    I would take MBP & Magsafe to your local Apple Store or AASP. Otherwise, see the following KB Articles;

  • Is a 60watt MagSafe Power Adapter compatabile for a MacAir?

I have a 45watt Mag Safe Power Adapter for my MacAir.  I also have a 60 watt Mag Safe Adapter, and says on box, only for MacBook/Pro.  Can I use this for my MacAir??

To quote from below linked article from Apple:
"Power adapters for Intel-based Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple notebook, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue."

    Best.

  • HT1349 5W power adapter, warranty for accessories purchases seperately

I purchased the Apple 5w power adapter from Target in Jan 2013.  The device stopped charging my sons Ipod.  It is not the outlet, cable or the Ipod as they charge with the power adapter for my Iphone.  equally my iphone can not charge with the defective power adapter.  How does one go about getting warranty access for the 1 year as this item is defective.  Apple store isn't that close and online/support doesn't bring up anything for accessories or when searching by the SN of the item.
I am putting this in the iphone 4s community as there isn't a selection for power adapters or accessories in general.

While the items you buy separately have a 1 year warranty on them, I have found that my local Apple store seems to ignore teh purchase of the separate item, and includes them under the iPhone warranty.  When I bought my iPhone, I got just the iPhone, then 3 months later we bought my wife's iPhone.  About a month after that, I ordered 3 extra Lightning cables and a couple of the microUSB adapters.  I have tried to get the lightning cables replaced under their separate warranty, but the APple Store keeps refusing to consider the cable purchse date and only looks at the purchse date of the iPhone itself.  In about 3 weeks, my iPhone will be a year old, but my cables should still have warranty for 4 more months.  I highly doubt that the clerks at the store will honour that since the iPhone itself will be over  a year old...

  • Power adapter/supply for Airport Extreme A1354?

    Hi all -
I just bought an Airport Extreme on eBay, but it didn't come with the power adapter. I've searched around and I'm having trouble finding a replacement adapter for it -- most of what I've seen have been for the round AEs.
The model number of the AE I need it for is A1354 (not sure about the MDxxx number). Does anyone have this model AE and can let me know the model number on the power brick? If I still can't track one down, can someone recommend a decent replacement power supply with the correcting power ratings?
    Thanks!

Really?  That would be awesome!   I can definitely pay what you'd like.  I haven't seen a private message feature on the boards here, but if you want to email me you can get me at appleforums [at] mattesch [dot] me.  Thanks again!
