AirPlay buffering from local video file [NOT WORKING]

We have been trying to play videos on our Apple TV, (Actually 2 of them, neither worked). WE have a local video file on our mac (iTunes Version 11.3.1) and we have been trying to play the video n out Apple TV using AirPlay. We can select the Apple TV from the AirPlay list but when we go to watch it all it does is buffer. It buffers for ever. This happened on both our Apple TV's (one is a ten. 2 and the other a gen. 3). We have also tried using our other mac which also runs iTunes 11.3.1. Our network works fine, (Apple Time Capsule) we have backups going to it and everything. This issue only started about 3 days ago; before that everything worked perfectly for more then two years. (Across two different routers). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi,
Just linking to the file won't work. You'll have to call
navigateToURL with that file's path. This will load the file in the
default browser.
There's no other way to launch applications from AIR
1.0.

  • Duplicate video files not working

Random video files don't work when transferred or duplicated.
    One process;
I transfer .mov files from one computer to the local drive on the mac. Most of the files work- others just show the quicktime icon, but fail to open citing "The document “XXXX.mov” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized."
    Another process;
I already have the video files (.mov, .mp4, etc.) already on the local mac- most files have no issues, but when I duplicate the file some just show the quicktime icon and fail opening with 'The document “XXXXX.xxx” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized."
One thing is clear- if a file fails, once transferred or duplicated, that file will ALWAYS fail if re-transferring or re-duplicating.

If you click Yes the project file will be updated when you save it. That has nothing to do with the media.
Are the Lesson and Media folders still in the Book Files folder (or whatever it's called)?
Select one of the clips in the browser and use Edit>Item Properties. One of the first lines is Source. That gives you the file path for where your media is supposed to be located. What does it say? If nothing is there, use the File>Reconnect function and point the application to where the media is located.

  • Encode Video Files not working for avi files

    Hi,
I've been trying to convert some .avi files to apple format using Lion's native 'Encode video files' function however keep getting a 'avconvert: source file not found for source file://fileparthhere avconvert: failed to create an export session. Check setup
I can't work out why as this has worked before in Lion and works fine for other video formats. The only thing I've done is remove Final Cut Express HD and can't add it again as I don't own it anymore
Suggestions? Is there a encoder to make this work or should it work anyway?
    Thanks

  • Some  Mpeg 4 video files not working under Window 7

I recently purchased a new PC running under Windows 7 OS. Obviously I have installed the latest version of ITunes and QuickTime player. I transferred all my music and video files from my vista laptop to the PC. The music files play fine using ITunes and the most recent music video files play ok too, but there seems to be a problem with the older music video files. When I try to play one of the older music video files, ITunes asks for authorization for the new PC to play the video each time I try to play the same video. ITunes grants authorization each time, but the video does not play, it shows that the video is playing on the progression bar but the music video is not displayed.
I have tried to play the music video using windows media player, but windows media error message says that it doesn't support the format of the music video.
I am perplexed as to what is going on; why will the newer music videos play through ITunes and not the older ones, and why doesn't windows media player support Mpeg 4 video files?

  • Importing Video Files Not Working

When I try to add or import a video file iTunes it does zip. I've tried everything, even creating a new user account. I'm having alot of other problems as well that I didn't have with the old version of iTunes. I've downloaded other media file organizing programs and have a feeling it has something to do with that, a kind of "software wars" going on in my computer. Tisk tisk.

  • Adobe Cap 5.5 on Moodle - Rapitvity and video files not working

Has anyone found a solution to this problem?   Thanks, Sandra

In the dialog inside Captivate where you set up the path to find the video file.  By default, Captivate sets an absolute link, however, this path will be invalid if your video will be moved to another system (e.g. the LMS).  You have to alter the default path to make it a relative path.  The usual method is to copy the video file into the same publish folder as the Captivate SWF.  (By default, Captivate doesn't move your video file for you at publish time.)  If your FLV or F4V file is sitting in the same folder as your SWF, then you can just use the filename of the video file as your relative path when setting up the link in the dialog.
I also recommend you ONLY use lowercase filenames at all times for Captivate projects, including the published file and folders, and that you NEVER have spaces in files or folder names.  These precautions will eliminate many baffling link failures when projects are moved from a Windows development environment to another webserver environment.

  • Cookies in local HTML files not working

I'm developing a widget and using Safari as a testing place for development. It is working well, however, I've noticed a problem with cookies.
I'm temporarily using cookies to set preferences until I move to the widget world where I have a separate place to store preferences. The problem is, this isn't working.
Cookies don't appear to work for files that are stored locally. I run the same exact page in Firefox and it works fine, but whenever I try to read a set cookie from safari it comes back as null. Also ... there are no errors in the Safari javascript console.
Is this a limitation of Safari? If so, how do you program preferences for widgets since Apple has clearly stated to use Safari to test widgets when in development?
This is with the latest versions of Safari (2.0.2) and Firefox (1.5).

Nah, no use posting code, I'm pretty sure it is just a limitation of the browser, for whatever reason.
I didn't have that much persistant stuff, so I just moved to the dashboard for development and that worked out okay.
Here's my final product, if you're interested:

  • Zen X-fi2 video files not working

    Hello!
I am very new to Zen, I bought the X-fi2 for watching my videos on but I can't seem to get any of them to work.
The converter on Creative Centrale takes about 30 mins for a 20 min anime and makes my computer run really slowly.
I've tried some other converters but with no real luck.
Is there anyone out there who can help me? I may need step by step instructions as most of this seems to be going over my head :smileysurprised:
    Ta muchly

Go here and download the best darn FREE file converter that can pretty much convert to anything you can think of.
    Install it. Start it.
ONE - Click on "All To Mobile Device".
TWO - This screen will pop up. In the drop down, find Creative, and choose the screen res that matches your device.
THREE - This screen will appear. Find your file and drag and drop it into the box. Or you can browse for it. But dragging and dropping is much easier.
FOUR - Choose your output folder if necessary at the bottom, then click "Okay" in the upper right hand corner.
FIVE - Back to this screen. Choose your output if you didn't in step four. Then click the "Start" button.
SIX - Watch your video convert. Time will vary depending on your computer's processor, what else you're doing, how long the video is, the settings you chose to convert it with, etc. (a ripped AVI movie file that is approximately 800MB and about and /2 hours long will convert for me in about 0-5 minutes, running on an <i>Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz 2.39 GHz with 2 Gigs of RAM, running Windows Vista 32 Bit</i>. Make your estimations from that).
SEVEN - Put the video onto your player however you do it, whether it's the bundled software, or dragging and dropping in Windows Explorer if your device is shown as an MTP device. ENJOY!
<i>Disclaimer</i> - Yes, I realize that I'm re-encoding an MP4. This is because a file I had already converted was the only file I had on hand. I figured that I'd squash this bug before someone asked why I was converting an MP4 into an MP4.

  • Video Files Not Working in QuickTime

I'm trying to play an MPEG-4 file on QuickTime, but keep getting an error saying that the file has invalid data. Normally, I would think that the file is simply corrupt, but it plays on Windows Media Classic perfectly. Any suggestions?

Microsoft uses proprietary codecs and these file will not play in QuickTime Player.
Use WMP to view these MPEG-4 files.

  • Destinations from an HTML file not working with Acrobat XI

When the link is executed in Acrobat X it opens to the correct destination. When opened with Acrobat XI it doesn't. In fact, when I open the PDF (created with Acrobat Pro X) with Acrobat Pro XI I don't see any destinations... I don't see where to view them if they do exist. I already tried disabling the protected settings in XI and that didn't work. What happens is a dialog for downloading the PDF opens and your only choice is opening the PDF to the first page (instead of the destination). This is also happening on all browsers... so I am suspecting something buried in the Control Panel. Please help.

Thank you but this doesn't help... I know where the destination pane is... that's how I created them... Acrobat XI is not showing the destinations but the issue is Acrobat XI opening a download dialog instead of following the destination. I think it's an application or Windows issue but I don't see it...

  • Wish to post KeyNote file as pdf. Export from KN to iW not working

Wish to post KeyNote file as pdf. Export from KN to iW not working - get blank screen. Tried to upload PDF to mobile me and link to that file - also didn't work. I'm not familiar with iFrames but have read about them in this forum - is that my only option? Why wouldn't a KN export work?
    Thanks, Brian

I have just tried this with a test site and publishing to a folder and it does work perfectly for me.
I had a Keynote document already so all I did was click on File and then selected the Print option. I then selected the save as pdf option the the pdf document was created on my desktop instantly.
All I then did was open iWeb and type some words in a text box My Prices. I then highlighted My Prices and opened the Inspector and went to Hyperlink and clicked on the option Hyperlink to a file. I then selected the pdf file from my desktop.
I then used ftp to a folder on my desktop and when I opened the appropriate page, I click on the words My Prices and the pdf file opened straight away.
As OT has suggested, check that you have linked to the correct file. If it does not work, either you have not created the pdf correctly or at all or you have not linked to the correct file.
As I said, it worked for me.

  • Local video files on native player - any examples or official response?

Sorry to bring this up again as there are several posts in this forum asking the same questions but I figured now that Packager for iPhone is once again being actively supported it would be a good time to try and get some clarification.
Playing local video files on the iPhone/Pad's native video player is a well documented feature of the packager but one that I have yet to get working or even see an example of. There are quite a few posts here and elsewhere with people asking how to get this feature working, especially with reference to the navigateToURL() function as described in the developer guide.
Has anyone ever managed to get this feature working and are there any examples of code using navigateToURL() which have been successful for anyone? If not could one of the Adobe reps on this board give a response just to clarify if H.264 video playback is working as intended and documented.
Many thanks for any incoming responses, I have been very happy to hear the news from Apple/Adobe over the last few days and getting this feature working would top off a few days of good news!

I've tried that with no luck.  Here's a screenshot of the app.  You can see the many ways I've tried to play video files and it just doesn't work the way you suggested, or the way the documentation suggests.  What am I doing wrong?  Or does it just not work since no one can seem to get it to work?
And yes, I did include the video:

  • DVI to Video Adapter Not Working...

    Hi,
I bought this thingy to view video from my Dual 2 Ghz PowerPC G5 on a Panasonic HDTV, using one of its s-video inputs. The video is blank when I switch to that input. I tried using the "Detect Displays" in the Displays preference panel. I do get a picture, but it's heavily distorted no matter what resolution I've tried - it's treated as a VGA display. Composite output from the adapter does not work at all.
The video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600LE (came with the computer - two DVI outputs). Apple claims this adapter works on Power Mac G5 with DVI port, but I don't think it does. I also tried hooking it up to a VCR as Apple claims you can do, but no luck there either.
Any advice or alternatives outside of Apple TV appreciated.

Thanks for the technical information. That was very helpful. I took the adapter to my local Apple Store (even tho I didn 't buy it there) and asked them to test it, but they couldn't get to for a couple of hours. But, they gladly gave me a new one to try at no charge.
As before, I plugged it into port 2 of the graphics card with an s-video cable to the tv. No success - except the picture was completely blank on the TV instead of distorted like before. Port 1 was occupied with a VGA monitor. I shut down the computer, TV, and unplugged both ports. I then moved the adapter from port 2 to port 1 and left port 2 open, meaning the VGA monitor wasn't connected to the graphics card at all.
I turned the TV back on and restarted the computer. Lo and behold - after the booting process was done, my desktop appeared on the TV. I shut down the computer again and reconnected the VGA monitor. Ta-dah! - I now have dual monitors.
As a further test, I hooked up the s-video from the adapter to my DVD recorder and recorded the video output from a full screen QT video to its built-in hard drive. That was successful as well. The only problem is that there is a minimal black border around the video since I was not able to pick a resolution for the TV that fills the entire screen. I may need to play with TV's aspect settings to get rid of the border, or crop it out later.
All that's left is to capture the audio and sync it with the video, then output to my format of choice. There's my fair use copy. The quality of the video won't be as good as the original, but what the heck - I'm the only one using it anyway.
Apple should find a way to convince TV and movie studios to sell their stuff on iTunes Store without DRM, at a higher price - like EMI is doing with their music. I would gladly pay the difference just so I could convert and burn my videos to DVD with iDVD or DVD Studio Pro.
