AirPlay Connection To ATV - Can't Figure Out Whats Not Working  :(

2012 Macbook Pro 13  ||  Yosemite 10.10.2   ||  Apple TV 3rd Gen.  ||  Airport Time Capsule WiFi.  ||   75GB DL internet speed.
When using iTunes with the ATV thru Airplay to play music and/or video music, all of a sudden it seems to drop the connection as the music (audio) stops and TV screen goes black, and/or back to the ATV home screen.  Sometimes the ATV power light goes off, but not every time.
The Macbook appears to be connected as the "blue" airplay icon and the "pause" button is still present...and the WiFi connection is still strong.  If i disconnect then reconnect, it will play again... sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a lot longer.
I REFORMATTED and updated the ATV, disconnected and rebooted both the modem and time capsule, and its still doing it.  Bluetooth is off. 
I think it may have started with Yosemite upgrade, but since we only use it occasionally, we're not sure.
Does this sound like the OS?  The ATV3????   ANY IDEA'S????

Have had similar problems to you guys.
I've found that the connection between the Mac running iTunes and the Apple TV seems to need to be re-established AGAIN, for it to function properly.
Signing out of your Apple ID on Apple TV and signing in again whilst everything is on the same WiFi network and running seems to help. (a little time consuming I know)
I believe OS X Yosemite is the cause. It's not as stable as previous versions.
So after reconnecting everything I would first try using the ATV remote to access the iTunes library for Movies Tv shows etc. Generally once this direction is properly established the other way goes fine.
Please try to persevere as it does work and it's good.

    is it your your router's name?
    are you by any chance connected to another wifi router then your own because the other one was open and not password protected?

Maybe it is the lock noise but I can't tell for sure.  More movement makes more beeps.  Even walking with my phone in my pocket creates beeps.  The IOS is 7.0.4 (11B554a).  Anyone else have this crazy problem?

  • Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

    I'm using Studio 8 in Mac OS X (10.4.6). I've got some pdfs
    uploaded to my site that are accessible through links one one of
    the pages. I had to make changes to the pdfs and resave them. I
    thought I uploaded them, but when I test the links it downloads the
    old version and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Here's
    what I did.
    This may be a dumb way to do things, but I saved the new
    version and then dragged into the server file in
    user-->Library-->Application
    Support-->Macromedia-->Dreamweaver
    8-->Configuration-->ServerConnections-->unnamed
    server-->public_html (this is where all the other files are).
    When I go back into Dreamweaver and open the pdf listed in the
    Files window on the right (by control-clicking and selecting Open
    with-->Acrobat) the correct version appears. I thought maybe
    there was a delay or something, but I've waited and still the old
    version is what you get from the site.
    Is there an easier way to do this, or is something wrong
    maybe? Many thanks in advance.

    1. Use the mouse to select the field and then press the space bar.
    2. A null string is the same as zero. What is the result for division by zero?

    I have an IMAC desktop, I just purchased the Photoshop Elements 10 software for MAC, installed it, running fine. But now I have program that is contanstly running in the background that is slowing up all of my other applications I run while I'm working. I've checked the Activity Monitor but I can't see anything out of the norm...Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm very frustrated....

    I presume you mean that the hard drive is working on something. Again, any such process would show in the Activity Monitor. Check that again, confirming that you have "all processes" set so you can see everthing that's going on. It will be easiest to spot anything unusual if you click on the "% CPU" column header to sort by the amount of CPU time each process is using. Click twice so that the arrow is pointing downwards; then the top users of CPU time will be listed at the top. Post the name of any process that's consistently or unexpectedly using a significant amount of CPU time and we can probably figure out what's happening and offer suggestions.

    Oh ok, well that was what the test said prior to reformatting the hard drive. Now, it doesn't find any trouble no matter how many times I run it. That's what has me so confused, everything seems to check out and yet...I can't do anything, not even install the software!

    One way is to remove all apps and then reinstall a few at a time while watching the "Other" memory indicator, but this will cause a loss of any data the apps are storing, like files, high scores, settings, etc.
    I don't know of an 'electronic' way of find this out.

    I just can't figure out where comments ends and where code starts so I was unable to run it for like 3 hours now.

    Ok macro works and triggers actions from recorder. I was doing it with hope I will select data in SAP and paste in Excel AND/OR export file from SAP with data.
    If I record select column and then copy it. Script is recorded until selection . It ignores copy (i tried use mouse right click and copy AND manual alt+F12 and then copy from context menu)
    When I export recorder does open export window but does not writes the line relevant to clicking save.
    I found such bits

  • An mp3 file on my computer will not import to itunes by either the drag-and-drop or the Add File to Library method.  Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.  My OS is Windows 7.

    I purchased an mp3 from a private website on my laptop.  The itunes library i sync ipod to is on my desktop, so i copied the mp3 onto a flash drive and then into my desktop in the Downloads folder and Desktop folder as well as the itunes music folder, 3 places.  I opened itunes on the desktop and read the instructions for importing music that's already in my computer.  Neither the drag-and-drop or the Add File to Library method works.  I've tried both ways over and over.  Cannot figure out what the problem is.  I do note that the name of the mp3 file doesn't show the .mp3 extension, it appears as simply it's title, Eating Healthy, without any extension at all.  Could the filename be the problem, or do you have any other idea what I'm doing wrong?  My OS is Windows 7, using IE9.  Thanks.
    ADDENDUM AFTER READING ANOTHER DISCUSSION HERE:  I have now tried right clicking the song in Windows Explorer and choosing Open With, clicking itunes.  The mp3 plays in itunes but does not add to the library.

    I don't have a Recently Added playlist.  However, I discovered that the file I had named Eating Healthy was given the name You Can Enjoy Eating Healthy when it copied to iTunes.  I'm guessing iTunes pulled the full name of the piece from the internet.  Upshot--the mp3 did transfer to iTunes on all 3 tries, but I was looking in my alphabetized list under E, not Y, so I didn't see it there.  Thanks for your help.

    Sooo, I just installed arch linux again to play around, starting at a fresh install I installed an xserver and got it running right, then I started installing some WMs and installed lightdm and lightdm-gtk3-greeter.
    So far so good, when I do try to login all WMs show up except metacity/compiz, that's not really a problem so I decide to add the entries manually

    From what I can tell the entries are right, they don't throw any errors and I get to a desktop and I have a cursor (no menus of any type though)
    The issue is that I have no clue how to proceed, I configured compiz with ccsm but can't figure out how to add menus, my goal is to make it look like GNOME2 without all the bloat (all I should need is metacity and compiz, true?), another thing I want is a fancy floaty dock and conky, conky is installed and I'll configure it once my desktop looks decent, the dock I chose is cairo-dock because it looks nice (does it auto-hide? Auto hiding is absolutely critical.)
    Anyway, I did my research, I read the compiz-article on the wiki (I installed 0.9.x if it matters) but I do not know how to get the config running, the syntax for .xinitrc is rather different from a .desktop file, Google didn't help nor did the forums search function.
    Did I mention what I want it to look like? I don't think so... anyway, I want it to look like gnome2 with the applications menu and places menu (have a look at debian 6.x if you don't know what it looks like) but I am rather lost ^^;
    Sorry for being so uneducated, I hope I don't cause someone too much pain with my silly questions.

    Anyway, thanks for the link, at least it gives me something to work with (I'm sure I can figure out the syntax based on the xfce4 file)
    Oh and I know compiz wasn't designed to be used standalone but I am not going to be stopped by that, for the metacity xsession file I wrote that as a test. If I recall GNOME2 uses metacity as the window manager and compiz as the compositor (which I know is a working setup, however it was merely a test), so yes. They can be used alongside each other since compiz has a quite capable compositor.

    Ah, a keen observation there! But if you would've paid attention I was also talking about compiz themes, you see the compiz theme I use also comes with a matching GTK theme, the GTK theme looks silly without the compiz theme and the compiz theme looks silly with other gtk themes. (that I have tried).
    Further I am aware that compiz uses three different decorators (based on choice), my theme has an emerald theme and a metacity theme included, I can pick either (isn't it nice?) and indeed I am using the compiz-dev package.
