Airplay Direct Yosemite

Peer to peer airplay between apple tv a1469 and retina macbookpro late 2013 are not working. Macbook sees apple tv but cannot connect to apple tv device. Any suggestions..?

Thanks for your suggestion but there is no peer to peer airplay at all, i mean there is no option for change resolution or extend option. Even i lowered the  macbook's resolution, nothing changes. There is a dialogue box which says cannot connect to apple tv..? When i connect my macbook pro via hdmi to hdtv, it automaticly changes resolution to 1080p and there is no problem. Also when i tried peer to peer airplay with ipad air to apple tv, there is no problem too. I think the case is all about the apple wireless direct link tech. I do not know but my macbook and yosemite did'nt accept apple tv airplay code on the hdtv screen..? Do you know anything about that..?

  • Is it possible to stream music to multiple sets of speakers via airplay direct from iphone4s on ios7 in the same way that you can in iTunes

Is it possible to stream music to multiple sets of speakers via airplay direct from iphone4s on ios7 in the same way that you can in iTunes / Remote?
I know this can be achieved by the remote app.
Airplay functionality appears only to support 1 set of speakers at a time?

Does anyone know how or if it's possible to stream my music from the iPhone to iTunes via bluetooth or wifi? Essentially I want to share the iPhone's library with iTunes (I know one can go the other way).
Here's why: I'd like to stream my music at work to my computer's speakers without taking the phone out of my pocket. I obviously don't have my home music collection on my company computer. And I figure if I place the phone on my desk to plug it in and play through iTunes, I could easily walk off without the phone. That would be bad (out of contact) and potentially sad (stolen).
It seems right now the only bluetooth connection to a computer is for the remote application.
Wait until November. Airplay/Airtunes iOS 4.2 announced for iPhone to iTunes/iTV. If you want a BT audio stream now, you can add a dongle to the PC for headset streaming.
As far as WiFi file transfer iPhone to iTunes, you can't. There's talks on it but nothing concrete. Except JB.

  • How to send computer screen to sleep whilst watching Apple TV via airplay using Yosemite?

Does anybody know how to send computer screen to sleep whilst watching Apple TV via airplay using Yosemite? I've tried the hot key Shift + Control + Eject, but that sends the TV's screen as well as my iMac's screen to sleep at the same time. I don't want the 2 screens playing at the same time - I would like to send the computer's screen to sleep whilst the Apple TV continue's to play/mirror. Hoping someone knows how to do this?

Thanks Vazandrew for your detailed explanation. I think you've answered my question in that what I'm wanting to do is not possible because it is mirroring in its entirety, unless it is being done via iTunes.
I live in hope that Apple (can in-time) organise the same screen sleep capability that operates via iTunes for people wanting to stream regular online TV via iMac!
I would like to mark my question as answered by you, but had already checked the helpful star before going to mark the answered check mark. Didn't realise you could only mark one or the other…with no editing function.
Your explanation as to what is going on with the mirroring was much appreciated, as I couldn't figure out why the short cut keys worked sometimes (via iTunes) and not others (via regular streamed online TV).

  • Has The Updated Airplay Direct Been Done

This is from Mac Rumors, it appeared several months back
Apple is planning an improvement to its AirPlay audio and video streaming technology, according to a report from The Telegraph.
The new AirPlay system would allow streaming devices like the iPhone or iPad to directly send content to a set of speakers or other receiver without a Wi-Fi network. The Telegraph expects 'AirPlay Direct' to be announced on September 12, together with the next-generation iPhone."
Has there been any progress on this? I'd love to use my iphone/ipad to stream to my Beolit 12 without having to be on my home network

Even if there was an upgrated model, you would receive the same model as the one you are getting replaced.

  • HT201335 Airplay Direct

Do anyone know when/if Airplay Direct (i.e. Airplay without wifi) will be released?

No. What are you are describing is a rumor, there was no such announcement and this feature does not exist.

  • Airplay Direct is already on sale?

I was expecting the launch of Airplay Direct during the event in which the Iphone5 came to public. It really was launched by Apple on that day?
I am a professor and I need a device to do presentations wireless, but not in a TV. In Brazil most of the devices to do presentations are projectors (datashow), mostly with VGA connections. I have a New Ipad.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Video AirPlay From Yosemite iMac Lag

When I AirPlay a full screen video to the Apple TV there is a small amount of lag / gitter.
I currently have the 3rd Generation Apple TV, updated.
I am also using AirPlay on an iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)
I use an E4200 Cisco router with the latest firmware.
    iStrumbler result:
S/N 71 db, Signal -24 dBm, Noise -95 dBm, Channel 157 (I'm only one using this channel in the area), Frequency 5785 MHz.
I have verified both Apple TV and iMac connected directly to my router with same results.
I have been using VLC as my video player.
The only thing that has worked for me was using Beamer  http://beamer-app.com
If I use Beamer there is no lag or bitter, perfect video!
I have posted about this similar issue in the Apple TV community and was suggested trying another router, so this morning I purchased the Apple AirPort Express and experienced the same lag/gitter results.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, I rather not purchase additional software (beamer), to resolve this issue.

    Thanks @vazandrew for quick response!
I set the Apple TV and iMac both connected directly to my router with the same results.
I have also used istumbler and Apple's Wireless Diagnostics provided with OS X.  My signal strength and noise are all strong and normal.
I also moved my wireless router to a new location just to be sure.
I'm using VLC to play the video, maybe there is another better player?  The video is running perfectly on the iMac just gitters on Apple TV display, it almost becomes unnoticeable after watching for a bit.

  • AirPlay iMac Yosemite Upgrade

I upgraded my iMac (late 2009) in order to use AirPlay & view iMovie Projects through AppleTV. Once upgrade complete, still no AirPlay icon. Is there any way to use AirPlay from an older iMac?

Look for the feature in iTunes.

  • Airplay video and audio choppy after Yosemite upgrade

i can not play music or audio reliably using AirPlay after Yosemite upgrade, it's quite choppy until I turn off Bluetooth mouse.
Has anone come across this issue or figured out how to fix it.

I've had a similar issue with a not very fluid stream of mirrored or extended display in Yosemite. Even my iPad's mirror image came out shoppy. So I followed some threads advice and turned off bluetooth on the AppleTV and now I can even play games without having to look at the iPad.
Even streaming a movie from my Mac is possible in mirrored / extended mode (if it's nothing too important as there are occasionally frame drops here and there) but very few in comparison with bluetooth on.
Hope this helps. I'm sure Apple will have a fix ready soon enough.

  • Using Airplay with AppleTV to share my MacBook Pro desktop is very unstable since upgrading to Yosemite, are there any settings I need to reconfigure?

I used to use desktop sharing from my Macbook Pro (Late 2011, Intel Core i5) to watch videos on my TV. Since upgrading to Yosemite the stream has been unwatchable. Both visual and audio latency problems are very common. As streaming from my iOS devices is fine, I'm pretty sure it's not my WiFi setup. Has anyone had similar problems? Are there any settings I need to change to improve Airplay from Yosemite?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot get Airplay to work after upgrading to OSX 10.8/iTunes 11.1.3

I have recently upgraded my Mac Mini to OSX 10.8.5 from OSX 10.7.5 and am now unable to play music or internet radio on my stereo.  Under OSX 10.7.5 I was able to play iTunes (11.0.3) music and internet radio on my stereo wirelessly via of an AE (A1084).
As part of the update to OSX 10.8.5 a newer version of iTunes was installed (11.1.3) and from that time on I have been unable to play music or internet radio on my stereo.  Whenever I attempted to connect to the AE I received a message stating, "An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device Stereo Airport Express G. The network connection failed."  I could, however, play both music and radio on a speaker attached to the Mini via USB cable.
Thinking it was the AE causing the problem, I replaced it with a newer version, an A1264.  This upgrade now allows connection to the AE and the music/radio begins to play on the stereo, however after a few seconds the transmission cuts out only to resume after about 30 seconds.  This stop/start of the transmission had me thinking it was a buffering problem.
I tried this suggestion found on the Forum:
First delete any files that start with 'com.apple.itunes.*' in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/. This will clear your iTunes preferences.
Next, open Terminal.app and run each line one at a time:
    defaults write com.apple.iTunes file-buffer-size 512000
    defaults write com.apple.iTunes stream-buffer-size 512000
No luck.  I still get stutters and skips.
To compound the matter, I have an iPod running iOS 6.1.3 (M540LL/A) with Tunein Radio installed that I use to stream internet radio to the same AE/stereo with no problems, so I know the modem/router feed is good and that the network is functioning properly.
Strangely, I have read no other posts of this problem cropping up after upgrading so it may be a setting on my system that is causing the problem.
    Any suggestions?

I have what sounds like a very similar issue.
I had my Denon 3312ci working perfectly with Airplay from my 2013 iMac running iTunes. Upgraded to iTunes 11.1.3, and now when I attempt to Airplay direct from iTunes to the 3312, it plays for about half a second and then stops. Displayed on the Amp then says "Assigning Network". The amp starts dropping ping packets at this point. About 15-20 seconds later the pings start coming back, but no Airplay.
I tried different network cables, resetting the microprocessor, a different switch, changing between DHCP and static IP. Was about to make a warranty call to Denon, when I thought maybe I should try Airplaying directly from iphone and ipad. Much to my surprise, it worked from those devices.
I prefer to use my iMac to Airplay rather than ipad/iphone as I found I got next to no audio drop outs using it that way (they are both using wired network), where as ipad/iphone occasionally would get a moment of silence in the middle of a song.
My network set up is fine. I can use internet radio and connect to DLNA services fine on the amp. It is just airplay between iTunes 11.1.3 and the amp where the issue lies.
No fixes as yet, but I have logged a support call with Denon Australia to see what they say.

  • AirPlay with my Mac is no longer working

    Hello.
I have a 2009 MacPro running OX X 10.7.3, with 8 GB RAM, iTunes 10.6, and AirPort Utility 6.0.  I have an 802.11n Airport Express (AE) attached to my Onkyo receiver.
WHenever I try using AirPlay from my 3rd gen. iPod Touch, it works fine.  But when I try to select the AE downstairs in my living room to use AirPlay directly from iTunes on my MacPro, it says it's trying to connect, but after 3-4 minutes, it times out.
I've tried swapping out AE's, turning WiFi on and off on my MacPro, restarting the Machine, running Disk Utility, even running TechTool Pro 6 and DiskWarrior to see if there was some sort of file corruption issue.  NOTHING has fixed this issue!
    Anyone have any suggestions?

As far as automatic update, the iOS cannot be updated without user intervention, so it could not have been automatically updated.
You need to provide more information about your mail. Does this mean you cannot access the Mail app, you cannot download mail, or what? Not sure why you cannot access the cookies setting in Safari. Go to Settings>Safari>Block Cookies>set to what  you want.
Problems with 3rd party Bluetooth devices, such as car audio, etc., generally has to do with vehicle manufacturers not providing updates to match the current Bluetooth stacks that are found in today's phones. You can go into the phone and remove the pairing for the car, and then go into car settings and remove the iphone. Then put both devices back into pairing mode and attempt to connect them again. • Sound output to Airport Express horrible except through iTunes Airplay

I've had an Airport Express for 2 or so months now, and I use it for both wifi routing as well as its Airplay functionality, wired into my stereo. I've used it with Airplay directly from iTunes as well as setting the system sound output on my Mac to go over to the Airport Express.
As of today, only the Airplay over iTunes works without issue. When I go to the system sound preferences and select the Airport Express, I hear a very loud pop, and all output is muffled and highly distorted. If iTunes is playing, that sounds bad too.  However, with the system sound prefs set to internal speakers and ONLY iTunes set to Airplay, it sounds fine.  This is not good at all for me, as I often send audio from Youtube and other streaming sites to Airport Express to play on my stereo.
How can I get sound output to Airport Express from the sound preferences to play nice again?
PS, I have the identical issue with Apple TV, though I don't use it regularly for Airplay. System output to Apple TV is terrible, iTunes Airplay to it is fine, and the audio from content on Apple TV is fine.

Is there any way to output any sound from a computer to Airport Express, not just iTunes?
Yes, check out Rogue Amoeba's AirFoil.
