Airplay forMacBook Pro, Mac OS X V10.7.5
Does airplay work on Mac OS X V10.7.5 ?
The supplemental update did address the 'slow' Time Machine backups under 10.7.5 - if this is your first backup, and depending on how much data you are backing up, I would guess that it could take 6-9 hours, but certainly not 2 (or 99) days. If it seems that the backup is 'hung' just stop it, reformat the external drive, and try again. For some great Time Machine troubleshooting tips, see http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html.
Good luck,
Clinton

MacBook Pros & Mac OS X v10.5.x?
Hi!
Does Palm Pre work with Apple MacBook Pros and Mac OS X 10.5.6 fully?
Thank you in advance.

yes it does, you can transfer to a google account and that works great
in a bit a 3rd party app will be available to do it directly
Thanks. My client doesn't have a Google account and doesn't want one. He'd like local synchronizations like the old Palm devices. We'll just wait then or get an iPhone. -

I have a Mac pro with osx ml in a Ethernet connection and a apple tv with a wireless, there is no way I can see the airplay in my Mac pro
Mac Pros don't support Airplay. Only some post 2011 Macs do, MAc Pros aren't amongst them.
http://www.apple.com/uk/osx/specs/
You could try Airparrot software as a workaround.

my Macbook Pro with 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo (Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger) can convert to Lion?
ToyooThese are some of the most common Questions (Q) and Answers (A) about Lion:
Q: What are the system requirements of the Lion upgrade?
A: Core2Duo, Core i3, i5, i7, and Xeon Intel CPUs with 2 GB of RAM in a Macintosh computer with 2 GB of RAM, and 4 GB (7 GB after installed) for downloading from the Mac App Store (Available in 10.6.6 and later). Unofficially, past upgrades have arbitrarily also required an additional 15% of the hard drive to be free for data.
Q: What applications are compatible with Lion?
A: http://roaringapps.com/apps:table provides a nice third party editable listing for people to include the compatible applications. Many of these compatibility entries came from before Lion's release. Please verify they are correct now that it has been released, and help edit it for more accurate data. Be sure to include any update version of Lion post release that you have found is or is not compatible with it, for the help of others who may be upgrading to Lion the first time. Additionally, as it was released, there is no Rosetta. This means any application that is stated to be PowerPC in the System Profiler, will not work with Lion, and needs a comparable application or upgrade to be compatible. The System Profiler is in Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info. Intel and Universal applications are on the whole supported, though may still need some tweaking before every feature is compatible.
Q: Are there any pitfalls to watch out for?
A: With all upgrades, backing up your data at least twice has been a given. Hardware can fail independently of downloads and upgrades, though may happen simultaneously. Software may be found to be incompatible that has not been tested with the new upgrade, or combination of other software that might be installed with the upgrade. It is also strongly recommended once your backup is complete, to shut down your computer, remove all but Apple wired keyboard and mouse (notebooks remove all input devices). Then once done, reboot, and go directly to the upgrade distribution system available. Third party system tools, modification, and "maintenance" applications should be verified as compatible, or removed until known to be compatible. Check with developers how to remove if it is essential to use Lion before those applications become compatible. Most "maintenance" tools that deal with system cache, prebinding, are not really maintenance tools. Ask on forum when are the appropriate times to use them before assuming they should be used for upgrades or otherwise.
Q: How can I get from 10.4 or 10.5 to 10.6.6?
A: Purchase a 10.6 retail installer from an Apple retail or third party reseller. It has a picture of a Snow Leopard on the DVD, and does not say Upgrade, Dropin, or OEM. Install it, and then install the 10.6.6 combo update from:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1349
Q: Is it true that I can only get it from the Mac App Store?
A: Presently this truth is based on current documentation as of the writing of this article. It may change, but we can't speculate as to its change. It has a better chance of changing if users request something different at:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Q: What limitations might one encounter if it doesn't change?
A: First off the 7 GB space limitation on the hard disc after it is installed. Secondly, the size of the download file requires significant time, unless you have a high speed broadband connection. Times expected are below -
4 GB at:
5Mbps is 2 hours.
at 1 Mbps is 10 hours.
at 384 kbps is 27 hours.
at 56k kbps is 184 hours (nearly 8 days).
If you include the 10.6.6 combo update of 1.06 GB
add 29 minutes for 5 Mbps
145 minutes (2 and 25 minutes) for 1 Mbps
6 and a half hours for 384kbps
A 24 hour day and 15 hours (for a total of a minimum of 39 hours) for 56kbps
Remember the retail 10.6 currently does not include the App Store, and those upgrading from 10.5.8 or earlier will need to both buy the retail 10.6, and download the combo 10.6.6 update, not to mention ensure they have the correct processor and 2 GB of RAM. Finally once it is available, you'll have find out how long approximately it takes to install after the download is complete.
These times do not include installation time, which on a MacBook Pro 3,1 15" installing on a Firewire 800 Newertech Voyager with WD10ACS-322J80 drive, 10.6.7, took 1 hour and a half to complete the installation from double clicking the install command to the registration screen. These times may vary by connection speeds from a non-dedicated connection, or background application usage of the internet. Any applications running when the installation process begins might interfere with the installation itself, and they should be quit first.
The installer just before it starts has in its package contents an InstallESD.dmg file a DVD burnable image to install on additional computers in the home without downloading over again. So if you desire to reinstall without an extra internet download, extract that file, by selecting the installer in the dock, and control-clicking it, and revealing it in the Finder. Next Control-mouse click it, and select show package contents. Inside that folder is a Shared Support folder. That's where you find the DMG.
Q: If I purchased a Mac recently, can I get it cheaper?
A: Yes, visit http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ for details.
Q: When will Lion become available?
A: It became available July 20, 2011.
Q: Which Macs can run Lion?
A: Look at Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info, and see if you meet the Machine ID and RAM requires under the hardware. 2 GB is required for all These Machine IDs will run Lion:
Mac Mini 2,1 and later
MacBook 2,1 and later.
iMac 5,1 and later.
All MacBook Air.
MacBook Pro 2,1 and later
All MacPros.
The Macs with the Machine IDs below will not run Lion (x can be any number):
Mac Mini 1,x or PowerMac x,x
MacBook 1,x
MacBook Pro 1,x
iMac 4,x, 3,x, 2,x, 1,x

I'm with Jon on this one. I know someone who uses FCP 5.0 on a MacBook Pro, he has all sorts of wierd issues including:
Projects he has created throwing up an error message "Unreadable on this machine" when re-opened.
Projects losing and refusing to connect to render files.
Dissolves simply not working -this is not to do with lack of handles, it just happens.
LiveType and FCP's own title generator files not automatically compositing.
Lots of kernel panics and unexpected quits.
These might not happen all the time, but always crop up at the worst possible moment.
I can move his project files and media to my setup and everything works. -
im running mac os x V10.5.8 on my macbook pro. Is there anyway i can update the operating system to os x lion?
If it's a Core Duo Mac, no.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, phone the online Apple Store and order a Mac OS X DVD, and if the computer can't run 10.8, a download code for 10.7.

Macbook pro late 2011 is on Mac OS X v10.7 Lion and it is using lot of RAM
Macbook pro late 2011 is on Mac OS X v10.7 Lion and it is using lot of RAM...when I turn on after 2minutes it freezes and do not repond and system prefrences also not working...plz help me....I don,t have mac os disc
I have tried safe mode boot, NVRAM and PRAM reset but no luck...First, try a Safe Mode boot.
Startup your Mac in Safe Mode
A Safe Mode boot takes a longer than a normal boot so be patient.
Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from your Apple () menu.
If that didn't help, reintall OS X..
Restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys so you can access the built-in utilities in OS X Recovery

Acrobat XI Pro & Mac OS X 10.7.5
I have Mac OS X 10.7.5 and I'm about to try installing a trial version of XI Pro - but the download instructions suggest that it will only work with Mac OS X v10.6.8, v10.7.4, or v10.8 - is that right?? Also I use firefox not safari yet the download notes suggest that I need to be using a specif version of safari if using a mac. Again is that right? This all sounds very complicated to me! Any help appreciated
These would have been the versions it was tested with. 10.7.5 is a small update to 10.7.4 and should be fine.
Acrobat adds certain functions to Safari. These won't be available with other browsers, but the rest of the product isn't affected. -
Hp 2840 scan, Mac os-x V10.7
My HP Color Laserjet 2840 worked perfectly for years when connected to a PC running XP. I recently converted to a MacBook Pro running OS X V10.7. The print function works fine but the HP Director icon is nowhere to be found so to select a Scan function is not possible. My goal is to scan documents and have the output end up in a folder on my Mac. Any ideas? I see the HP 2840 has print driver support for OS X 10.7 ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c01664444#N1839 ) and I have downloaded all of the latest updates offered by Apple. Help please.
Hi,
I believe that repeating steps 1 to 7 may help,
Make sure to carefully follow the steps as is (as including the space within step 3 as example)
This is the only workaround I aware of, and to add, it is not an official solution as a such does not exists.
If you still facing any issue after completing the steps, I would recommend you to consider the second suggestion to consider any 3rd party solution as officially, scan no longer supported for your product while using Lion.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.
If my post resolve your problem please mark it as an Accepted Solution -
HT2693 Upgrading from Mac OS X v10.7.5 to to Mountain Lion 10.8
Hi,
I would like to update my Mac OS X v10.7.5 to to Mountain Lion. But what would happen if I am downloading/upgrading my MacBook and somehow network gets interrupted?
Please let me know the whole process.
Thanks in Advance....
AmitUpgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
If you are downloading and the connection is interrupted, then you will need to start over again. You don't upgrade the computer until AFTER you have downloaded the Mountain Lion installer. Also, see the following:
Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/
Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button.
Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move
the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You
must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes
installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
a. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
b. After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left
side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until
the process has completed.
d. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side
list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
e. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the
button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
drive size.
3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
a. Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
b. Open Disk Utility.
c. Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
d. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
e. Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
f. Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
g. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above (you still have to do your own download of Lion/Mountain Lion) you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process of Steps 2 through 4. -
I am using mac os x v10.5.8 - what do I update to?
I am looking to do some updates, I am currently using Mac OS X v10.5.8. (Is that Leopard?)
What do I look for next?OSX 10.5.x is Leopard. The next iteration of OSX is 10.6.x which is called Snow Leopard. That is a necessary stage in order to get to the next iteration which is 10.7.1 which is called Lion. However, before you continue with the steps to upgrade you neeed to determine the capabilities of your MacBook Pro. If it is one of the early Intel machines (Spring 2006) then it will not be able to upgrade to Lion. You need at leastan Intel Core 2 Duo processor. A careful look through the required specs would tell you about the advisability of your own personal pathway for upgrade:

I cannot perform security update with Mac OS X v10.411
I cannot perform security update with Mac OS X v10.411. My Mac Book Pro is super behind concerning updates and security.
Yes, I too have that problem. And, I have actually been hacked into, had all of my files, folders, photos, applications, sys pref, (in-other-words) EVERYTHING copied and recopied. It has been a nightmare. My identity was completely stolen. What makes it worse is that when I told apple ~ I was told by 1 Apple Supervising Technician that I was out of my mind and that it wasn't possible. He was very dismissive and treated me if I were some kind of idiot. Well, check out below. This is since Saturday or Sunday last. I didn't authorize this and I sure as **** don' know who any of these people are.
I installed the 10.5 disk. And I too, like many Macbook Pro users had the "Black Screen" bug. So I had to go back to 10.4. I went back and this is what I inherited. I now rarely have control over the computer, never my printer and I my security has been and is constantly being compromised. I believe that Apple needs to own up to this and, perhaps, do something about it? Am I asking too much?

Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
