Airplay mac mini can't see apple tv, but itunes does

it seems that my mac mini can't see my apple tv for airplay, macbook on same lan does see it
both are connected via ethernet, mac mini has hands off installed
i try to use guest account but can't see from there too

I'm not referring to the latest version, I'm asking if your mini is 2011 or newer?

Mac Mini can't see the same wireless networks as a Aluminum 24" Imac ....

I have a question for ya'll. Is there any reason why my new Mac mini 2.0g system can't see the wireless networks that my Imac can?
What I mean, is that I can see two Networks with my Imac:
1. Mine
2. Other networks around me.
On the Mini, using 10.4 or 10.5 My mini can only see my wireless network. Which is only 1 foot away from the mini (and Imac).
It has been suggested to me that my antenna is bad ... Are there ways to test this? Or is it just inherit for the mini?

The Mini has a much smaller antenna (the size of a larger postage stamp) -- and it is located in the back upper right corner, as you face the mini from the front.
The antenna is less capable than the larger antenna in the iMac, and it is more easily blocked. Make sure nothing is between it and your wifi router.

Mac Mini – can't see Internal HD after adding SSD-.

I have installed a SSD in my brand new Mac Mini – it was shipped with the 1TB drive.
I booted up and got the blinking Question Mark Folder.
• So, I booted up with option held down; I could see the SSD and the Apple 1TB (which has Mavericks system installed).
• No problem I thought – it probably needed me to choose the start up disk
• Opened Disk Utility; I can see both drives; that's good! I thought I'd format the SSD while I was here, so I did.
• Quit out of Disk Utility to get Start Up Disk options – both discs missing. Oh, dear.
• So booted up again and did an internet recovery; putting a system (Mountain Lion) onto the new SSD (whereas before it was an empty, erased Disk).
• This took an hour over the net but it worked. I booted up with it and it very fast – but the Apple internal 1TB is missing.
Weird part:
• Opened Disk Utility on the computer; I can see only see the new SSD; so I opened Disk Utility to see if I could view the internal, nope - not there.
• So I thought I would be scientific and boot up again holding OPTION down; opened disk Utility; and viola – there's both drives; each with a system and OK according to Disk Utility.
So in a nut shell – when I boot up with Disk Utility holding OPTION I can see the internal BUT when I am booted up as normal with the new SSD; and open Disk Utility; I can't see the internal.
Shall I just erase the 1TB internal and start again? I spent a bit of time Migrating my old machine to this 1TB; so would like to not to have to do that gain.

I have similar issue.
I can see my Samsung 840 Pro 256 SSD and original 1TB hard drive in Internet recovery mode. But it did not allowed to format 1TB drive. As soon as software installed into SSD and booted from it, my 1TB vanishes.
Do you have any luck?
What did you to get your 1TB back?

MAC Mini can't see HD

I have a AEBS working fine, sharing a printer and HD. I can see everything fine from my powerbook. Connect to the HD fine and can see it in HD utility.
Today I tried to connect my MAC mini to AEBS, I can get out to the 'net ok but I can't see the HD.
The HD utility doesn't see the HD and it won't even appear on the menu bar.
Any ideas?

Yep, clicked on the disck util, checked the buttons, it won't appear in the menu bar, even after I restarted and it won't see the drive. This is very strange.
I can print and also get to the net from the mini
Everything works on the powerbook fine.

Mac mini Leopard connects to Apple extreme BUT XP WONT CONNECT HELP PLEASE

*I have a new mac mini intel 1.83 ghz Core 2 Duo I used bootcamp to partition Windows XP pro SP2*
*I was initially easily able to connect to my wireless Apple extreme in either Leopord 10.5.4 or Windows XP.*
*I then installed all the new (100) security updates for SP2 and now Windows XP sees my airport extreme but for some reason can't connect. I set up the Wizard using a manual network key and using the same password for my network connection. When I startup in Leopard 10.5.4 no problems always connected to Airport extreme. But no connection on Windows XP to wirelessx Apple extreme.*
*I wonder if anyone has a solution, maybe a detailed explanation how to set up with the Windows XP network wizard?*

I have no idea what happened. I plugged in my USB flash drive in an attempt
to run the Apple Airport utility for windows to see if that would get me connected, but just as I plugged in the USB drive my wireless connection flashed and said CONNECTED and I've been good for the past 12 hours. I never had to use the Apple Airport utility.
I just wish I knew what happened in case I lose this connection and have to try & reconnect....I guess I could always try inserting a usb drive!

How do i make it so my mac mini can always access my media for Itunes on my time capsule?

I just recently switched over to a mac mini from a pc. I also purcahsed a time capsule and set it up to hold all my media like music, movies ect. So what settings do i go to so that my itune always acesses the media on my time capsule. If the only way to do that is never let the mac sleep i can do that. But i was wondering if there is a better way to make sure i can watch a move on my apple tv without having to "wake up my computer" and then reslect the hard drive as the media source. The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases: Without syncing:File>transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Can't see Apple tv on iTunes

I have an Apple Tv.The first time it work all very well! Now, every time I switch on iTunes its don't see AppleTv!Imean it work, if I use Air Tunes It works!I see they they connecting on...but It DON'T appear on the lateral bar!!!Why??I've already do everything is possible!!Plug!Unplug!Restart!Everything!!!

I'm having the same problem, and suspect it is due to the latest update to iTunes (8.1.1[10]). My router sees the ATV, and I can access trailers from the ATV, so it is connected to my local network and to the Internet. I've tried all the suggestions in Apple's Support help file (TS1453), including restarting the computer and resetting the ATV w/o success. I did have iTunes and ATV synced on my old computer, but killing that didn't help. Now I can't see it from the old computer either, and of course all my music and movies are gone from the ATV.

New iMac doesn't see Apple TV, but Macbook does

Until yesterday I was using my Macbook Pro for the Apple TV. Last night I moved all my content over to my new iMac (copied actually) and I want to start using the iMac for Apple TV. (once everything is set up I will just wipe the content off the MacBook.... 96GB is too much for a laptop!)
Currently the iMac isn't seeing the Apple TV, but the Macbook Pro is. Do I need to remove the Apple TV from the Macbook in order for the iMac to see it? I am just hesitant to try it because there is a warning message that everything will be erased from the Apple TV if I remove it. I am pretty sure everything is on the iMac and therefore wiping the Apple TV won't cause me to lose anything... but I would rather know if this is the solution before I do something like that!

Thanks... I was just getting ready to ask a new question I followed the Help guide's instructions to do Settings > Computers > “Connect to iTunes” but we can only stream now with that. So thanks for the response, it helped me to know what was going on there. Now I am going to go see if I can figure out how to do what you suggested.

I am trying to restore my Apple TV. I followed the instructions in the article "Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Restoring your Apple TV", but iTunes does not display devices. What do I need to do to see it?

I am trying to restore my Apple TV because when updating, it showed the USB cable point an arrow to the iTunes app icon. I call the apple support team and they said to connect the micro usb cable to my computer. But iTunes isn't showing the devices screen so I cannot do anything. Maybe it's the cable or something. Help.

Have you tried the following:
Disconnect the HDMI, power and USB cables
Wait for 10 seconds
Reconnect the USB cable
Immediately hold the menu and play buttons on the remote for 15 seconds
Apple TV 2 should now start flashing the LED wildly and appear in iTunes with the restore button.
If it still doesn’t show up, maybe it's your cable (even if it works just fine with other devices). Sometimes you need to wiggle the USB plug or put a little weight on it in order to have a reliable connection. Or just try another cable if you have one, sometimes that helps too.
If that still doesn't work, try the above but add the power cord after step 3 (and before step 4).
@Hecumi: this goes for your 2nd gen Apple TV as well, incl. the last tip concerning the power cord.

Can't see Apple TV from iTunes

I have 2 Apple TV's at home. Both have home-sharing activated. Both are connected to my network router (wirelessly). Neither can see my iTunes library. On my home PC, I'm running iTunes 11.0.2.26. I think the problem is that from the home PC, I don't see either of the A-TV's as choices, when I play a song. It only plays on the PC - and doesn't show the graphic that represents A-TV as a destination choice.
Home Sharing is activated on the PC with my library. As a side note - my iPod Touch, iPad, and my iPhones can all play - via Airplay to either of the A-TV's with no problem. I also have the iTunes "App' called "Remote" loaded on my iPhones, iPod, and iPad.
Any idea why I don't see the A-TV's as options, when I play songs? Shouldn't I be able to select those locations - from the PC; and shouldn't I see my iTunes library from either A-TV, with home-sharing activated? When I select the "computer" from the A-TV, it doesn't show my library - just says to activate home-sharing (but that's already active).

Can't see movie on Apple TV, but iTunes does - why?

I have MANY movies on iTunes, and with a couple of exceptions, am able to view them all on TV via Apple TV. The exceptions are movies that look great on my mac, but do not show up on the movie list via the Apple TV. I have deleted them and moved them to the trash and then rebuilt them and I have done a logical but not physical delete and re-added them to the library - all to no avail. They refuse to show up. One of them is a middle disc of a set of disks, the rest of which worked just fine. Suggestions?

Migration Assistant can't see MacBook Air, but Finder does

Hello,
I purchased an iMac 2 weeks ago. Now I'd like to make the best of this Migration Assistant by automatically move files and setting from the MBA (MacBook Air) to the new iMac, but this utility is looking for other computers forever without finding anything.
Facts:
The iMac Finder see the MBA
The MBA Finder does not see the iMac.
Firewalls on both computers are set to "Allow All Incoming Connections"
Both computers are loaded with Leopard 10.5.5
Both computers are connected to Time Capsule through Ethernet cables.
Any idea on how to make the Migration Assistant see the MBA?

When connecting the MBA directly into the iMac's Ethernet port, I get the same symptoms.
From the Finder, iMac sees MBA but not the opposite!
From the Migraton Assistant, the little wheel turns endlessly without seeing the MBA.
I think I'll have to call Apple about this one. Then again I think the Support representative will be clueless...

I did not format the drive. I was using it as purchased to do backups for a while. After the corporate backup system was working correctly again I was using the disk at home for my homevideos. Since the corporate backup was running correctly for ten days in a row, I have decided to delete those backupfiles on the usb drive. Each backup was a folder consisting of almost 30GB data, mirroring the servers harddrive which is running on windows xp. After I have deleted those folders, only the video files remaind and I could not open the drive on the macmini anymore.

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address. If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini. This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is, if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT: Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified. Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL
