Airplay mirroring from my iMac (late 2013) suddenly stop working.
Is it a known Yosemite issue? Airplay worked perfectly with Mavericks and if I don't remember wrong, it also did after installing Yosemite. When I turn on Airplay my TV screen goes black and only the sound goes through.
My Apple TV is gen 3.
Airplay works perfectly with iOS8
When I have a similar issue, sometimes I will turn off Home Sharing in iTunes, quit I-iTunes, then restart it and re-add Home Sharing. Then I will restart the Apple TV and finally do a test, most times it works fine.
Keeping both systems up-to-date also helps.

Airplay mirroring on Mac Mini (late 2012) doesn't work, extended display does... What's going wrong here?
Details: OS X Yosemite 10.10
Apple TV 3rd generation, version 7.0
Switching Airplay on on Mac Mini works. It goes automatically on extended display mode. Switching to mirroring works for about 1 sec and then it switches back to extended display mode. On my tv screen i see my second desktop. Funny detail: it has the desktop background i used previously. Another funny detail: I had exactly the same problem when i used the previous versions of OS X and the Apple TV software...
Who can help, please!I also have been having problems with Airplay on my 2014 Mac Mini see Mac Mini 2014 Airplay Display Disconnect Bug?
I"ve also noticed that my Apple TV (3rd Gen) does not appear in the iTunes Airplay list on my Mac Mini whereas it does on my MacBook.
I've booked a call with Apple Support for next Sunday to discuss the issue.
If I get any useful info I will pass it on. -
Airplay audio from iPhone 4's iPod app stops working after a few songs
I have problems with airplaying songs from my iPhone 4 to my Apple tv.
Everything works fine but after a few songs it suddenly stops and I'm not able to switch it back on. After a few hours I'm able to airplay again but only a few songs till the problem reapears.
Streaming music from my iMac to Apple tv works flawless over wifi so it shouldn't be a network problem.Have a look at the troubleshooting section of this article which may help

Return key on iMac Keyboard Has Suddenly Stopped Working
I'm using an iMac purchased in April 2007 and it is using the older white Apple keyboard (model A1048).
All of a sudden, after a shutdown and a startup, the Return key has stopped working (the Enter key on the keypad still works).
Nothing was spilled on it and no one has hit it too hard. I popped off the key to check if there was anything that could explain why it wasn't working. No dirt and the key depresses properly.
I also took the keyboard over to a Dell PC running WinXP and tested it there as well. Every key worked except for the Return key.
So, my question is, is there some serious hardware flaw that basically means that I need to get a new keyboard or is there some other explanation and method for correcting the issue?Having the same issue, would love to know if you were able to resolve it. I'm also not able to use Tab, Return, and F12 for some reason.

I took my MacBook Pro in for repairs and erased the drive for safety AFTER having copied the entire contents to an external firewire 800 drive using SuperDuper!
The copy process made the disk bootable and I was able to boot up my iMac and run it just as if I were working on my MacBook Pro. After a couple of times working this way, the iMac stopped booting from my drive.
The drive shows up when starting up by pressing the option key but then, after a long time, the iMac shows a circle/slash symbol as if it can't find the system files.
If I restart without pressing the option key, the disk mounts on the desktop and I can use it as an external drive just fine! I tried selecting it in System Preferences as the startup disk, but the same thing happens, blank grey screen with the circle/slash.
Since this happened with a Seagat drive - a brand that has failed me in the past many times - I thought it was a disk problem. I had backed up my MacBook pro contents to another Toshiba drive, and booted from there perfectly well for a couple of times...
Until the same thing happened! Thank God I didn't trash the Seagate although it makes very faint clicking noises that will keep me far away from using it again anyway... but that's another story!
iMac runs 10.5.8, the boot disk (and my MacBook) runs on 10.6.8 if that makes any difference... And now I'm scared that when I copy back to my MacBook Pro it might not boot up at all!!!
What gives???
- MerlinCreativeYou need to reinstall Snow Leopard onto the external drive:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
Do the following:
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/. -
AirPlay mirroring from Apple devices to Apple TV not working
Hello, I just bought a Apple TV (3rd gen) the other day. I updated it to the newest firmware, but I still cant use AirPlay. I have a Macbook Pro (mid 2012) on mountain lion, a iPad 2 (ios 6.0.1), and a iTouch 4th gen (6.0.1), but I cant seem to get airplay to work on any of them. All devices are on the same wifi and airplay was turned on the ATV. On my macbook, I would go into System Prefs/displays, but would be told that no devices were detected for airplay. I have double clicked the home button on my iDevices and scroll to the left looking for the airplay button button, but nothing. I even turned on homesharing on all devices (to see if that would do anything for airplay), and made sure all devices were running the latest os. Does anyone have an idea on how I can resolve this problem?
Sorry, with my limited experience with Apple TV, I think I'm out of suggestions.

Scan from Envy Printer to MacBook suddenly stopped working
I recently installed an HP Envy 100 printer, scanner copier. For the first week everything worked perfectly. I could print and scan wirelessly using my MacBook, iPhone, iPad or the Envy's controls themselves. Recently when I touched the "scan" icon on the Envy I was taken to the "Choose Scan Destination" as normal, then when I selected "Computer" I received this message:
"You can start a scan from your computer OR scan to your computer from the printer.
Make sure the HP printer software is installed.
Window's Only - Network Connection
In the HP printer software, enable the "Activate Scan to Computer" function.
For Mac and USB connections, the "Activate Scan to Compuer" function is automatically enabled.
Then the option to click "ok' which only returns me to the previous screen.
I used to see instead (when it was working properly) the two computers on my network and I would simply select the correct one and and the scan would wireless appear in my documents folder.
I called HP, we did all their trouble shooting and they said they could no longer help me. The suspected the problem was with my wireless network and suggest I contact apple. They also said the Envy uses Port 427 to scan wirelessly and that I should tell that to someone at apple when I am trouble shooting my airport extreme and network.
Anyone encounter the same problem and know how to fix it?I suspect this has more to do with the fact that HP &/or Apple haven't gotten their act together to ensure that OS X Lion worked with the printer? I too bought an Envy 100 a few days ago for my daughter to take to university with her. On unboxing it at home to check it worked, we found initial set-up pretty straight forward..... but the only way we can get it to print is by having her 2010 MacBook Pro connected (NOT wireless). My 2011 MacBook Air won't connect to the printer at all, and neither will our iMac...although the latter did "briefly" show the Envy 100 as an available printer before asking for a software update which wouldn't download.
I can only assume that we are expected to sit and wait until HP &/or Apple deign to pull their fingers out; in the meantime there is ZERO information readily available from either company as to what it going on, despite the fact Apple are happy to push HP printers in-store and on-line.
I'm severely tempted just to re-box the printer and find one that, you know "just works " -
While using Safari or Firefox my trackpad 2-finger scroll stops functioning after working normally. Trackpad works fine with all other applications.
Seems it might be a setting or software problem. Any resets needed?Howdy mandasaureezy,
If I understand correctly you are unable to successfully boot past this gray sreen when using the built in monitor on your Mac unless you boot to your Boot Camp partition even after resetting your SMC and performing a Safe Boot. I would next use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve or isolate the issue here, named:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
It's a pretty big article so it can be a bit daunting, but just take it step by step from the top and you should do just fine.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the best,

IChat suddenly stopped working
I'm on an iMac 2.8ghz Intel Duo running OS 10.4.10 connecting via Airport
After 2 years (on my iBook and then my new iMac) the iChat suddenly stopped working properly 2 days ago. It allows me to see the people in my buddy list but when I ring them for a video chat, they can't see my ringing to accept, and when they ring me, I can't see their invitation. Sometimes I can text them, but it's only worked a couple of times and then not for very long.
I thought perhaps there was something wrong with the program on my iMac, but it does the same thing on my laptop.
I called my ISP thinking it may be the modem. We reset the modem and made sure the firewall level was set to OFF, but still no difference.
I tried some of the suggestions I read here in the forum such as changing the Quicktime speed and making sure the bandwith limit was set to None, even downloaded the newest version of Flip4mac.
I'm totally baffled. I can log on, see my buddies and they see me, but we can no longer chat or IM.
Thanks for any input.ThermoMan ?

My iMac (Late 2013) change 2 sets of Corsair 2x16GB memory (CMSA16GX3M2A1600C11) but always hang suddenly
I have checked it by memtest and show all ok, are any one know what the problem is? Many thanks!Well, I only buy my RAM from one of the two most recommended RAM vendors here: OWC (macsales.com) or Crucial; not sure if the dual channel would have something to do with your problem, but I'd test with the old RAM - if it works, then it appears to be the RAM or try the Apple hardware test (run that in extended mode at least twice).
FWIW, I've not seen a positive post about Corsair; Macs have always been extremely finicky about their RAM. -
Upgrading Intel Imac late 2013, to Yosemite from Mavericks
Hi, I hope you can advise me! I have a 27" iMac late 2013 2.5 gb processor and 8 gb of ram. I have the following questions though:-
1. First and most important is should I upgrade? people seem to be having lots of problems with it!
2. I have Photoshop CS5 (upgrade from CS3), will it work on Yosemite or do I have to remove it?
3. will Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 work on Yosemite?
4. Will Microsoft 2011 work on Yosemite?
your advice will be much appreciated as I have been toying with the idea of upgrading for a while now.
Regards and thanks in advance. DenisOn the Adobe apps, please check with Adobe to check their compatibility with Yosemite. MS Office 2011 works just fine, that much I can tell you.

Persisting crashes with brand new iMac late-2013 27-inch (14,2)
Please help!!!
Last week I purchased the latest iMac late-2013 (14,2) 27 inch with everything top range directly from the Apple Online Store. My configuration in a nutshell is the iMac (of course) with wireless keyboard and magic mouse, attached to it through Thunderbolt a LaCie 5Big (10TB) external drive as well as a USB connected WD MyBook (2TB) for Time Machine and a USB3 connected WD MyPassport (2TB) for those files I want to keep mobile between my devices, all of this on OSX 10.9.1. Futher details on the hardware below:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac14,2
Processor Name: Intel Core i7
Processor Speed: 3.5 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 8 MB
Memory: 32 GB
Boot ROM Version: IM142.0118.B00
SMC Version (system): 2.15f2
My problem is that it keeps crashing... sometimes while doing some Final Cut X or Logic Pro X but other times while simply copying files between hard disks while Time Machine is running and everything else is closed... I can't figure out what the root cause or the particular event that triggers the crashes, thus they are quite unexpected and pretty abrupt - no warning signs at all.
I read in some of the threads that the 3rd party RAM may cause some problems but my 32Gb RAM came directly from Apple as configured while purchasing.
Here is the latest report my system gave me and I know some of you folks are pretty good figuring out what these messages mean. I will most likely get in touch with Apple support but before I do, I wanted to check with you geniuses before I spend hours on the phone with Apple support. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
You may want to do a hardware test to determine if there is a hardware failure:

Corsair Ram for iMac late 2013
Hi,
I got a new iMac 27" late 2013, and bought 32GB Ram somewhere else. It's 4x8GB Corsair Mac Memory DDR3 1600MHz PC3 12800 (CMSA16GX3M2A1600C11).
I got several Kernel Panics, but only with the Corsair Ram. Everything seems to work fine if I use the original 8GB hynix.
Memtest shows no problems with the Corsair Rams at all...
My questions: Am I right to suggest that the Corsair Ram is causing the Problem, altough memtest shows no problems? If yes, should I return the faulty RAMs and get the same as replacement or would you suggest different RAMs? If yes, which ones?
Here's the Diagnostic Report from after the last Kernel Panic:

Lord GallifreyI'd like to Order via Amazon (it's the easiest way for me) but I'm not sure which one.
Would someone help me to decide?
This one seems to be officially compatible with the iMac late 2013: http://www.amazon.de/Crucial-memory-PC3-12800-1600MHz-Macbook/dp/B008LXX9OC
But this one is cheaper, and the technical Data seems to be the same, but I read already bad ratings about them: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B008PSEHAS/
