  • No Audio in AirPlay mirroring from my mac (OS-ML) to Apple TV

I get a picture but no audio.
    I saw this discussion:
No Audio when Airplay Mirroring from Mac to Apple TV
BUT in my case I can't change the sound settings to AirPlay.
When I click it with the cursor, it tosses me back to Internal Speakers, and won't let me select AirPlay.
    Any suggestions?

    I'm in the same boat.
Found an instruction elsewhere to flip audio to AppleTV BEFORE switching to Airplay Mirroring.  Should not be necessary (several extra clicks where one should suffice), but if that's what I have to do, OK...
But as these users are reporting... it doesn't work.  I click on the AppleTV option and it keeps reverting to Internal Speakers.  I'm not able to actuall select the AppleTV for audio output.
    So, ***?

  • TS5150 I got my Apple TV a year ago as gift. I was mirroring from my Macbook Air ok until today.  I can mirror video but the sound stay on my Mac.

When I use Airplay, I can mirror video from my Macbook Air but there was no sound from TV (the sound on my Air still on).  I had use my Mac to do Airplay for six months without problem until now. My wife can use her iPad-4 to watch TV with Airply fine without the sound problem.  My Macbook Air was purchased in summer of 2011 running Marverick at the moment.  Can you help?

Welcome to the Apple Community psalay.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
        1.    Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
        2.    Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
        3.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
        4.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
        5.    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
        6.    Restart your mobile device.

Hi all, I have a macbook pro and would like to mirror my tv right to my apple tv but don't know how?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). • Can i mirror from a macbook pro to an apple tv 3 if my macbook is pre 2011?

I am trying to miror from my macbook pro to my apple tv 3 but i cannot find the icon on my computer. Im pretty sure my macbook pro is pre 2011. Is there any other way of mirroring?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course, but you cannot use AirPlay Mirroring because it requires an Early 2011 or a newer MacBook Pro.
Instead, you can use an application like AirParrot to mirror your MacBook display onto the Apple TV. It is a well-known app, so it is the one I recommend you to use, but there are more

  • Does airplay mirroring work on MacBook Pro late 2011 ( Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5)?

    Hi guys,
I would like to use airplay mirroring on apple tv (3rd generation) with my macbook pro late 2011, unfortunately the airplay option does not appear in the display preferences (see screenshot below). Did someone have this problem before? Please advise!
    Thank you!
    Tial

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 Your computer is compatible with AirPlay Mirroring, but you have to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion to get AirPlay Mirroring.
Make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion. When the download finishes, the installer will appear, so follow the steps to upgrade. To turn on AirPlay Mirroring, select the AirPlay icon in the menu bar or open System Preferences > Displays

  • Airplay mirroring with 2012 macbook pro ATV3 lagging

Hey! Just went out and bought a appl tv gen 3 for my new macbook pro 13"
Boy was I surprised by the lousy quality when turning on airplay mirroring...my wireless setup consists of a airport express (the older version) and the Apple tv. I tried mirroring with my ios devices too and it is lagging considerable - to the degree that I will probably return it to the store.
Watching the video reviews online and apple's commersials it all runs smooth so I'm also thinkng there might be a problem with my unit. The ATV has full connection in the status bar to my wireless. There is nothing wrong with my internet connection when surfing the web with the laptop or ios devices.
After doing some searches on the web I kind of get the feeling that it used to work, before 10.8 upgrade...is this true? In that case I might keep it and hold my breath for a fix. Otherwise it will be returned pretty quick.

Im having the same issue.  Airplay to apple tv 3rd gen works great on ipad 3.  On my $4000 macbook pro retina with 16gb and 2.7ghz cpu it keeps lagging and freezing.
    Can anyone please help us?

  • Airplay mirroring between my MacBook Pro and Apple TV (1080p one) has always worked fine until now. I only sometimes get video but usually just audio. Has anyone experienced the same issue?

When using Airplay mirroring between macbook pro and apple tv I cannot see video, only hear the audio. Worked fine before. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?

I have the exact same problem. The picture is very slow, incredibly pixelated... and renders my apple tv virtually useless until this problem gets resolved. I currently have an apple tv 3, ipad retina, iphone 4s, and a 2011 macbook air. I use the apple tv almost exclusively for mirrored content. And this is definitely causing quite a problem for me.
I had been able to use this for presentations as well- but until this problem gets resolved - I may have to look for a backup solution/product. And I imagine that I'm not alone in this... Please get this resolved quickly!

  • AirPlay mirroring with my MacBook Pro

Can someone kindly advise on how I can use my Apple TV so I can use my TV as the main screen instead of my MacBook Pro.  And the same with IMac? Having a hard time whereas the iPhone 5 is straightforward . Suggested would b very much appreciated.

There might be preference options for Airplay in the settings. Also go into Apple TV settings and make sure Airplay is enabled in the options. Then all you have to do is make sure that the Apple TV is on and click the Airplay icon on the top bar on your Macbook. The icon is that rectangle with a solid triangle infront of it. Once you click on that click Apple TV and it will mirror it. Once you've finished it click Airplay Mirroring : On and set it to off.
I find airplay a really useful feature as i used to do similar things with old PCs and DVI cables. Hope this helps.

  • FaceTime Airplay Mirroring on 2012 MacBook Pro

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can help. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and an AppleTV bought at the same time, Airplay mirroring works perfectly for music and video etc through iTunes and for Safari and Youtube etc, however I am having issues with FaceTime. With FaceTime only the video is displayed on the TV, the audio remains on the internal speakers despite going through the settings and selecting AppleTV as the output for audio. Software is up to date on the AppleTV.
Any ideas on how I can get the audio to play through the TV? Thanks.

Im having the same issue.  Airplay to apple tv 3rd gen works great on ipad 3.  On my $4000 macbook pro retina with 16gb and 2.7ghz cpu it keeps lagging and freezing.

  • AirPlay Mirroring from 10.8 Won't Start Sending Video (or Audio)

This question may have been answered, but searches for me keep coming up with people who don't have the AirPlay Mirroring icon showing up in the menu bar, which isn't the problem I'm having.
In my case, the Mac is compatible (latest-gen Air, 10.8.5), and the Apple TV (3rd gen, latest software) shows up in the list in the menu bar and Displays pref pane (as well as the Sound Output pref pane).
However, if I select the ATV, the Mac's screen resolution will change to what looks like 1080p with no corresponding response on the ATV (I have it set to conference room mode), and the right side of the menu bar and Displays pref pane both hang on a beachball for a consistent period of about 15 seconds.  After a fixed timeout, the AirPlay Mirroring request is cancelled and the Mac goes back to the default resolution and no mirroring setup.
A smiliar thing happens if I select the ATV in the Sound Output pref pane--no sound from the ATV, and the pref pane hangs on a beachball for a while before eventually switching back to the internal speakers.
The devices are both on the same WiFi network, which shouldn't be overloaded or have any interference, but it is a corporate network, so I'm assuming that there is some port or protocol being blocked that is interfering with the actual mirroring connection even though the discovery is working okay.
    My question, then, is:
    1)  Is there anything I'm overlooking that would cause this to work?
    2)  Assuming no, does anybody know what port might be blocked that would cause this behavior?  I want to know what, specifically, I'm complaining about when I go to the higher-ups in the IT department to try and get it bypassed.

    Hi felix69,
    Welcome to the Apple
    Discussions
iChat uses ports above port 1024 and consequently
like an On-line game needs these ports enabled in the
modem and any router you have..
iChat also uses the Quicktime Streaming speed and
this needs to be set to 1.5Mbps/T1/LAN in System
Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming tab
Can you tell us what you have done so far ?
