Airplay Mirroring no sound output! (MacbookPro Lion)

I have been successfully airplay mirroring with iPad with no problems. However, when I do the same to my MacbookPro Early 2011 , it works only for graphic , but the sound seems to speak only from my Mac. I have already tried to fix this by System preference - > sound -> Output. The problem is when I click to select source for speaker that is airplay for apple TV while I'm airplay mirroring , it always disconnects my Mac from Apple TV and then Apple TV on my TV screen go to standby mode. However, I can steam movie via itunes perfectly. My wish is just to have a graphic and sound come together from the TV when I do the AirPlay for skype or something else other than Itunes. Thanks

Luxurypop, try selecting the audio output before you launch airplay mirror.  Please just confirm you are mirroring as you say you have Lion on the title not mountain lion (OS X 10.8).  Your macnook pro certainly mirrors but please confirm it is not an OS issue.

  • AirPlay Mirroring shows scrambled output in guest account

When using Mountain Lion's AirPlay Mirroring in the guest account, all I see on an Apple TV is some flickering scrambled image.
The same issue is observed by one other user on the Net.
The reponse by another user is as follows..
"To be more precise: after using AirPlay Mirroring in one account, one needs to log out that account before one can use Mirroring in another account on that same Mac. The same applies if you happen to use Mirroring in the guest account first, and then leave that account logged in and try to use Mirroring in some regular account."
    IS THIS A BUG?

i get this flickering from both my machines:
Mini is wired into Linksys Router and Netgear switch
    MBP wireless to same router
ATV2 is hard wired into router
both my OSX devices display flickering. IOS devices are all fine.
Any one any idea at all?
i dont have any other accounts on both machines except the admin user account i use for myself

  • Why isn't my iMac compatible with airplay mirroring with the new Mountain Lion upgrade?

Yesterday, I upgraded to the newly released Max OS X Mountain Lion, mainly because I was very interested in the airplay mirroring function that Mountain Lion brings to the table. To my dismay, however, I found that AirPlay is not available on my device due to the fact that my iMac is from mid/late 2010 and that function only works on mid-2011 and newer.
Why is it that my 21.5" iMac running a core i3 processor is not deemed worthy enough to have this function. I honestly feel a bit robbed that it is not included in my $19.99.  Why am I paying the same price as someone else who is getting that key feature.
I love Apple to death. I've had many of their products, but I really feel as though this is unfair, and that I have been mislead.

I don't know why it does not work - assuming it has something to do with firmware, EFI, or similar; however, if you want Apple to hear you, consider filing feedback here since these are strictly user to user forums:

  • HT204291 can I use AirPlay mirroring with IMac OS X Lion 10.7.5?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Unfortunately not.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). It also requires the computer to be using wi-fi.

  • Airplay mirroring intermittent sound only through Onkyo Sound System

Downloaded the Mountain Lion y'day. The video is perfect but the sound is intermittent. I got an apple TV y'day which I connected to my Onkyo sound system. I can play itunes and get sound through the sound system both via macbook pro as well as iphone. I can't understand what's wrong when I mirror my laptop. Sooooooooo frustrating. Any good soul who would help me ;(

    Update:
    First Applecare chat session:
    1. Was asked to boot in safe mode. No luck.
    2. Was asked to zap the pram. No luck.
    Second Applecare session:
    1. Was asked to archive and install. No luck.
    Third Applecare session:
    1. Was asked to try with a clean user. No luck.
At this stage the tech told me they will approve a second mid plane swap, all I have to do is call them in to arrange for the spare part to be shipped to my local Apple techs.
I have to say this: While I am terribly annoyed at this whol e ordeal, having Applecare has made an incredible difference in the stress levels of this whole business. Each of these 3 sessions were done as an onine chat. I kept working and only had to make sure to keep an eye on the tech in case he was asking for something.
It is a **** of a lot better than to play phone tag with two tiers of tech support. While sure, I am glad that Applecare extends my coverage by two years, the combination of being allowed to deal with these issues over a chat session totally kicks ***. And the on-site repairs are awesome when going to an Apple store is too much of a hassle.
This is the last time I don't purchase Applecare at the same time I purchase a Mac.

  • Airplay mirroring not working on mountain lion

    Hi,
I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro and one of the main reasons for purchasing Mountain Lion was the ability to use mirroring.  Sadly this feature does not seem to be working a part from in itunes. I have now studied the Tech Specs and now see my model is not supported. This should have been made much clearer when purchasing the upgrade.  Very very disappointing Apple.  Just starting to lose patience and up until now have been an advocate of Apple. I will think twice before recommending again.
Of course if there is a solution my faith would be fully restored.

The only reason i bought mountain lion was for the mirroring too. I have the same issue. Honestly I am so disapointed with Apple. If we were simply informed more clearly that this won't work I may still have purchased the product and at least wouldnt have been so disapointed. Coupled with the wait for Facebook integration this has been real shame.
My advice to anyone thinking of updating or even purchasing an apple product. Don't expect Apple to consider you unless you have a new product.
Apple really are becoming a bunch of money grabbers.

  • Does mountain lion support airplay mirroring

I am trying to get netflix on apple TV and have had 2 stories aout airplay. 1 is you cannot use airplay from the imac outside the itune app if you have a core dual processor? Secondly you need mountain lion to use airplay outside of itunes. Reason being I am trying to get netflix onto the big screen using apple tv and am in an area netflix is not in yet. Before i go to mountain lion from snow leopard i wanted to ensure i could do it on the imac i have. otherwise the choice is a cable or a new imac!!!

  • OS X Mountain Lion AirPlay Mirroring

AirPlay Mirroring is advertised to work on ANY early 2011 or later MacBook Pro. I bought my MacBook Pro on 2-22-2011 yet I am unable to get AirPlay Mirroring working. I made sure that my MacBook Pro SHOULD be able to use AirPlay Mirroring BEFORE I bought Mountain Lion, and to be honest, I feel I was ripped off, because, as far as I can tell my MacBook Pro is perfectly capable of using AirPlay Mirroring however I am not able to.

  • Airplay Mirroring sound choppy

I have an AEBS running in radio mode 802.11n only (2.4GHz), and AppleTV (not the 1080p one) an iPad 2. All network devices are in my living room. My iPad is about 4 feet from both AEBS and AppleTV. When using Airplay mirroring, the sound is choppy. There is basically nothing else going on on the network. Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue. The audio here also cuts comepletely out at times. Not good!

  • OS Mavericks has disabled Airplay mirroring on my Mid 2010 MBP, on all apps except iTunes. WHY???!!!

A major function of my computer has now been disabled - not because the MBP cannot run it (as proven by Mountain Lion and current iTunes functionality) which is now, in my opinion, rendering the 3 year old computer 'not fit for purpose'!!
I can't even stream the BBC iPlayer from safari onto my v3 Apple TV!!!
(one of many things I could do with OS Mountain Lion)
    Apple, please rectify this quickly.

    Hello Liam,
It sounds like you are not seeing the AirPlay mirroring icon on your MacBook Pro after upgrading to Mavericks.  I found an article with steps you can take when you do not see the AirPlay icon.  I recommend reviewing the full article and specifically steps in the section titled "Troubleshooting AirPlay Mirroring:"
