AirPlay/mirroring on guest network

Scenario: 4 SSID
2.4GHz
5.0GHz
2.4GHz Guest
5.0GHz Guest
Apple TV configured to connect to option #2: 5.0GHz
Users on guest network (2.4GHz Guest or 5.0 GHz Guest) are not able to use AirPlay/mirroring. Is there a solution so i don't have to switch the SSID on the Apple TV back and forth?
router can be either Airport Extreme or Netgear R6300 ac.
Thanks

i'm trying to simplify my network, rather than adding devices, i'd like to take advantage of what i have.
A few weeks ago i read this article (https://discussions.apple.com/message/21353187#21353187) and tried to implement it but it did not work out. I might have missed something though. Has anyone else tried and got it to work?

  • AirPlay Mirroring shows scrambled output in guest account

When using Mountain Lion's AirPlay Mirroring in the guest account, all I see on an Apple TV is some flickering scrambled image.
The same issue is observed by one other user on the Net.
The reponse by another user is as follows..
"To be more precise: after using AirPlay Mirroring in one account, one needs to log out that account before one can use Mirroring in another account on that same Mac. The same applies if you happen to use Mirroring in the guest account first, and then leave that account logged in and try to use Mirroring in some regular account."
    IS THIS A BUG?

i get this flickering from both my machines:
Mini is wired into Linksys Router and Netgear switch
    MBP wireless to same router
ATV2 is hard wired into router
both my OSX devices display flickering. IOS devices are all fine.
Any one any idea at all?
i dont have any other accounts on both machines except the admin user account i use for myself

  • Airplay speakers on a guest network?

    Greetings,
I have searched the forums (and the internet) and have not come up with an answer. So I thought I'd ask here...
Is it possible to allow guests (on an Airport guest network) to connect to audio speakers on an Aiport Express via Airplay?
I found some hints in my searches that this is possible, though have not gotten it to work. I suspect the Airport Guest Network does not allow Airplay access, though hope someone here can prove that wrong!
    My detailed setup:
    - Base Station: Airport Extreme (sixth generation / tower form factor) with 7.7.3 FW
         - Creates a main network
         - Creates a guest network
    - Networks extended with:
         - Airport Extreme (fifth? generation / flat form factor) with 7.6.3 FW
         - Airport Express (latest generation / flat form factor) with 7.6.4 FW
         - Airport Express (latest? generation / flat form factor) with 7.6.4 FW
    - Each Airport Express has speakers connected to the audio (1/8") jack
Though physically one would think they would connect differently, Airport Utility shows the three extenders each connecting directly to the base station.
    In Airport Utility:
    - Main and Guest networks extended on all devices
    - Airplay enabled on each Express
    - On Base Station, File Sharing allowed with "device password".
^^^ For file sharing, I typically have disabled this, though have turned it on as one answer I found hinted that this would allow Airplay to work on the guest network. I have tried turning this on and off, as well as cycling through the sharing options (with device password, etc).
Airplay works just fine on the main network, but not on the guest networks. Again, I suspect this is the intended behavior, but also see music / audio sharing as a key feature of iTunes, etc, and am hoping Apple has allowed this somehow on guest networks.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
    Best,
    Devyn

You cannot. There are no settings on the Airport to allow this.
You can establish daily time limits using Access Control, but I believe that this will only work on the "main" network. I don't have an AirPort handy here to check on that detail. Perhaps another user can help us on that.

  • Airplay guest network

I have an AirPort Extreme with a guest network. I can airplay (I'm on the main network) but my guests can't (don't even see the option). I'm surprised this can't be done or figured out. Any ideas?

There is nothing to change. As I said, both devices need to be on the same network. This is how each device is able to 'talk' to the other and transfer the data (over the local network).
May want to consider a separate ATV set up on the guest network if you are concerned about privacy.

My iPad 4 does not show up on my TV screen when in AirPlay mirroring mode using WiFi.  The iPad displays AirPlay set to TV with the Mirroring On (green).
My iPad IOS software is 8.2 and my Apple TV software is at 7.1.  The TV displays the Apple Menu.  The “Settings” does however displays the General menu allowing me to see:
    Apple software:          7.1 (7003)
Apple TV:                   Model No. A1464, Part No. MD199B/A
    Signal Strength shows 5 circles.
It does not display the iPad screen but when I use the BT Sport App I can hear the sound but there is no video.  I have searched the internet for a solution to no avail. The problem first arose when the IOS was at 8.1+ but it worked correctly briefly when I updated to IOS 8.2.  Can you help please?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • How to enable airplay mirroring on ipad mini using apple tv

I just bough an apple tv but i am unable to perform airplay mirroring using my mini ipdad

Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.
Basic AirPlay: Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
Mirroring: When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices.

  • How to disable airplay mirroring on iPad with ios7

How to disable airplay mirroring on iPad with ios7?

I've had this problem ever since I was at my friend's house- she has Apple TV- and my iPad connected automatically. So, I have no idea why any of the practical solutions that people think of are not options BUT, in terms of just getting it done, I did figure out a way. The key for me was getting near another Apple TV. I was out of town so I took my iPad to another friend's house who also has TV. Once I was logged onto their wireless network (the same network that their Apple TV is on-- that's how it connected in the first place), then the Airplay icon and options showed up from the bottom-draw menu and I was able to make sure that mirroring was turned off from the Apple TV section and to make sure the selection was on iPad instead. Problem solved. Now whether or not this will stay the same (rather than me having to make sure it stays at this setting everytime I link up to a network that has an Apple TV on it) I don't know. So my advice is find someone with Apple TV and connect to their network with your iPad and then change it.

  • HT4437 how to use airplay mirroring between ipad3 and apple tv without any internet or wifi

I do presentation and a lot of the time, there is no wifi or internet connection available in the room (school, church, community center).
Is there a way to use airplay mirroring so I can use my powerpoint or my keynotes from my ipad to the apple tv?
I also have a macbookpro, I know there is a way to create your own network with the macbookpro, how don't remember how, but would prefer not to have to carry my macbookpro.
    thanks
    Christian

You can stream the content with a local connection. You dont need "internet", but need to connect the apple tv to a wireless router(plugged in with no internet) or hardline. Then connect the ipad wirelessly to the same router. Its a basic internet setup without the "internet ethernet cord" plugged in.

  • Airplay mirroring no longer working for videos played in iTunes

After the latest software update for iTunes on my Macbook Pro, Airplay mirroring stopped working with my Apple TV from iTunes.  I can still mirror anything on my Macbook display, except it won't mirror any video that I play with iTunes. All of my software is up to date. I've followed all the guidelines of ensuring that everything is connected to the same network, rebooting, etc. Is there a glitch in the latest iTunes software update?

    Here is the compatibility table
H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
You may want to also try converting using the Apple TV preset in Handbrake to see if that helps

  • I would like to AirPlay mirror my iMac and be able to use both my magic mouse and wireless keyboard, but the bluetooth range won't let me. Is there a way to extended its range?

I am buying an iMac to AirPlay mirror on my big screen TV with AppleTV (2nd generation). But my TV is located far away from my iMac and I won't be able to use my magic mouse or wireless keyboard via bluetooth connection. I know I can use an app to simulate both mouse and keyboard, but I really need to use the actual devices.
I wish there was a way to pair them to my iPad or iPhone, via bluetooth, and control my iMac via network. It is a cheap solution, as I wouldn't need to buy any other device. I believe all these devices, without modifications, have enough technology to be able to work as I've imagined. The only need was to adapt the software.
Is there a solution simple as this one, or do I have to buy a Bluetooth extender in order to use my magic mouse and wireless keyboard? If so, which BT extender do you suggest and what is its range?
    Thank you!

  • HT201335 Airplay Mirror Poor Image Quality on CBS app - help?

Airplay mirror from iMac/iPad to HD TV w/Apple TV has a Poor Image Quality when watching network shows via for example the CBS.com site or the CBS app. The image looks dark, not HD at all. My internet speed/performance is obviously not the issue because Hulu, Netflix etc all come in great using Apple TV ~ sorry, not all that savvy in this department, is the poor picture down to it just being a mirror of the iMac or iPad or is there a setting or something I am missing?

You should use the Acrobat extra menu in word 2010: then edit Preferences and choose Conversion settings : High quality print
    Hope it helps

  • AirPlay mirroring not working with Mac mini mid 2011

I recently upgraded my Mac mini to mountain Lion Osx for being able to use AirPlay Mirroring Feature with my Apple Tv3 5.0.
Normal l'y i should qualify for being able to use this Feature but the only thing i CAN get is a green screen... When activating thé mirroring on the upper right corner Of my desktop screen...???
If somebody CAN help trouble shooting this problem
    Thanks

the next thing i would confirm is that there is no network issue.  is your mini connected to your home network via wifi, or wired?  if it's wifi, then i would try to connect it with an ethernet cable, just for testing purposes.  if it's connected via wired connection and that's how you're getting your green screen, then it warrants a trip to visit the "geniuses" (please Apple, don't censor me for putting geniuses in quotes). because you would've effectively isolated the problem to your mini.  good luck.

  • Airplay mirroring problems from MacBook Pro only

I have the second newest MacBook Pro (the one that came out before the retina display) and an apple tv (Generation 3) that i just purchased last week. When i go to do airplay mirroring to put youtube or movies on the sound is perfect but the video is only a blurry picture of my screen and it updates the picture about once every minute and gets stuck on another blurred picture. but i also have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2 and airplay mirroring work just fine on that. Any answers to this would be awesome!!!
P.S. i bought the Apple TV to stream the BCS Bowl from my MacBook to my tv and that day we used it the airplay mirroring worked Flawless, but since that day it has been acting screwy.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
