Airplay - no video - new version

I've just updated my AppleTv to the new version 4.2 released today and my iPad to 4.3 also released today.
First thing I go try is video airplay from web. Well, Video from Apple site works but then I went to CNN.com and tried to play a video, it started streaming to the Appletv just fine and then switched to just audio. I tried again and now only shows the audio icon for airplay for this video and I also tried other sites wich only stream the audio portion. Apple site videos are fine.

Hello
I just installed today 11th March the latest iOS on my iPhone 4, iPad and Apple TV2.
I read about videos that have to allowed to be streamed on the AppleTV2 even if they can be read on the iPad or iPhone4 directly.
So my question.
If I use an Apple application (on one of my iDevices) like for example the VLC player, the Buzz Player or another video player to play a mp4 video (that I easily can read with audio and video on my iPhone), why, when I choose to watch this same video on my Sony TV, when I make the choice on my iPhone4 to play it or trough OR the connection "AppleTV" OR the connection "Component3 (original cables from Apple), I can not see the video but can ONLY hear the audio ?!
Or if I choose to play the same video from the natif iPod or Video application, I can hear and SEE the same video ?!
So this has nothing to do with the videos that I can watch o a Safari website!
Who has the same problem ?

  • After upgrading recently I got this message: "The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." The music/video files are still on my MacBook Pro.  Is it because I'm still on 10.5.8?  How do I fix this?

For your reference I’m using a MacBook Pro running 10.5.8.  Several weeks ago on a Monday I received an upgrade for iTunes. When Tuesday arrived I attempted to log in so that I could download the latest freebie song(s).  I was met w/this message: “The file ‘iTunes Library.itl’ cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.”
The music/video files are still on my Mac (I’ve verified that via Searchlight), but I’m unable to open the program.  Since I know that 10.5.8 is rapidly becoming prehistoric, could it be that the newest iTunes isn’t compatible w/this particular OS?  I’d like to switch up, but understand that the newest OS won’t work on a Mac of this vintage (6 years old).  In addition, my Adobe products (all CS2) won’t work w/anything newer than 10.5.8, so I’m reluctant to go to a newer OS (I just can’t afford the Adobe upgrade $$$ @ this point).
Is there any way to get a download of an “old” iTunes version?  If there were, I’d simply refuse any future upgrades until my personal economy allows me to stop working as if it were 2006.  Please advise, somebody!

I don't know how you received an upgrade for iTunes.  You make it sound like it was sent to you.  At most your computer will tell you of a new version and you tell it to download it and install it.  However, a computer will not do this for a version which is incompatible.  iTunes 10.7 came out a few weeks ago but your computer would not notify you and even if it did, 10.7 would refuse to install on your computer.  So this part isn't making a lot of sense.
Two ways to get the 'newer version' message.  One is to open your library on a computer running a newer version, and then try to open it with an older version.  Usually happens when the library is on an external and used with multiple computers.  The second way is if you have multiple versions of itunes installed on your computer.
The newest (and likely the last) iTunes for OSX 10.5.8 is iTunes 10.6.3 which has been out for quite a while.

  • Tried downloading new version 5.0.1 to mac running 10.4.11 to be able to download silverlight to view a video on fidelity site. failed and old version 3.5 something is gone too. everything's gone. No chance of getting bookmarks back?

Fidelity site said I needed latest Real Player or Silverlight to view a video on my mac (10.4.11). Recommended I click "test your System" button. Did so and recoomended silverlight specifically, but my browser (using safari at the time) was incompatible so needed to download latest version of Mozilla firefox to proceed. Clicked that button and a firefox page opens with dozens of 5.0.1 versions of firefox in various languages. Find U.S. english and click. Message says I have older version (3.5.or.6 something) and do I want to replace with new version. Clicked yes and download begins of disk image. Completes and window opens with firefox icon with bar over it and system apps folder with arrow to move

    Update.
I opened the iMac and swapped out the HD for one of the HDs that wasn't appearing in the Firewire cases. The HD according to Disk Warrior and Tech Tools Pro 4.5 is just fine. While this is great news, I can't figure out how 2 LaCie cases died at the same time. And a third case bought at Fry's doesn't seem to work either.
The FW ports on the iMac seem fine as my M-Audio FW works in either port.
Oh, I'm back running under 10.4.10 and the versions of the OS on DW3 and TTP4.5 are all less than 10.4.10.
I'm not going to 10.4.11 - I've learned to stick with what works and don't need to be so progressive on updates.

  • Video Quality worse in new version?

Ok, so I had the settings down pat in the last version of imovie and idvd. I imported my miniDV footage in widescreen format into iMove and then ported it over to iDVD. I used to use the "Best Quality" feature in the last version but changed it to "Professional Quality" in '08 because it should be the better choice. However the video looks bad. Edges of furniture and stuff are jagged and color variations are terrible.
Anyone know of other settings I could check? The camera and everything is the same but the new version of iLife has my videos looking bad now.

iMovie version 7.1 (506) all updates applied.
Using a Panasonic PV-GS300 Mini DV Camcorder.
I plug it into the computer using the firewire cable and iMovie comes up asking to import. I click import and it does it's thing. I edit it and get it ready to go.
Here's where it gets interesting....I use the share to media browser feature and choose large (the highest quality option I can choose as far as I know). It says 960x540 and I don't know if it's possible to export higher?
It then gets plugged into iDVD '08 (all updates applied) and I'm setting the encoding at "Professional Quality". Burn it and play it where I've decided it's worse than before in the last version of iLife.
I have a brand new 24" iMac and it has better specs than my last iMac. Any ideas?

Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!

  • Can't able to syn own videos iPhone using the new version of iTunes 12.0.1

Can't able to syn own videos to iPhone using the new version of iTunes 12.0.1

    Hi Hamedkhan,
Happy New Year!  The resources below will show you how to sync your home videos to your iPhone using iTunes 12 for Windows:
iTunes 12 for Windows: Syncing overview
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH20342?viewlocale=en_US
    Do I have to sync?
If you have iPod classic, iPod nano, or iPod shuffle: You have to sync your device with iTunes. There’s no other way to add content to it.
If you have an iOS device (iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad): You only need to sync your device with iTunes if you want to:
Add your iTunes playlists to your device (unless you subscribe to iTunes Match)
Add your own videos to your device
Add photos, contacts, and calendars to your device (if you don’t use iCloud)
Remove previously synced items from your device
If you prefer not to sync, you don’t have to: you can download items from the iTunes Store directly to your device, and—if you have a free iCloud account—use iCloud to make sure items like your photos, contact, and calendars are on both your computer and device.
iTunes 12 for Windows: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH20343?viewlocale=en_US
iTunes 12 for Windows: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad
To add items on your computer to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad, you sync them using iTunes. You can have iTunes sync items automatically (which is the quickest option), or drag items to your device manually (which gives you more control)—or you can do both. You can also remove items from your device automatically or manually.
For more information about syncing, see Syncing overview.
    Select items to sync automatically
Connect your device to your computer and click the device button near the top left of the iTunes window.
Select the type of content you want to sync (for example, Music or Apps) in the sidebar on the left.
Select the Sync checkbox, then select the items you want to sync automatically each time you connect your device.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each type of content you want to include on your device.
The bar at the bottom of the window shows how much space will remain on your device after you sync.
By default, iTunes syncs your device whenever you connect it to your computer. If you want to have iTunes ask you before syncing, do one of the following:
Require a prompt before syncing this device: Click Summary, then deselect “Open iTunes when this [device] is connected.”
Require a prompt before syncing all devices: Choose Edit > Preferences, click Devices, and select “Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.”
When you’re ready to sync, click Apply.
Tip:    To automatically sync a connected device at any time, choose File > Devices > Sync [device name].
WARNING:    If you delete an automatically synced item from your iTunes library, the deleted item is removed from your device the next time you sync.
Add items to your device manually
You can manually add music, movies, TV shows, apps, podcasts, and iTunes U lessons to your device. You can’t manually add photos, books, contacts, or other info.
Make sure your device is connected.
From anywhere in your iTunes library, begin dragging the items you want to add.
A pane with a list of connected devices appears on the left.
Drag the items to your device in the list until a blue border appears.
The items are added to your device.
Keep items from being automatically synced
If there are some items you never want synced (for example, if they’re too big to fit on your device), you can keep them from being synced.
You can also turn off automatic syncing for music, movies, and TV shows. You must do this if you want to sync iPod classic, iPod nano, or iPod shuffle with more than one iTunes library, or automatically fill your device with songs using Autofill (see the next task, below).
Connect your device to your computer.
Click the device button, then click Summary.
    Do any of the following:
Keep individual items from being synced: Select “Sync only checked [items].” Then, deselect the checkbox next to any items in your iTunes library that you don’t want synced.
Turn off automatic syncing for music, movies, and TV shows: Select “Manually manage music and videos.”
    Click Apply.
Fill your device with a random selection of songs using Autofill
If you don’t want to always hear the same music on your device, you can have iTunes fill it with a random selection of songs by using Autofill.
To use Autofill, you must turn off automatic syncing for music and videos (see instructions above).
Connect your device to your computer and click the device button near the top left of the iTunes window.
    Click On My Device.
Select Music in the sidebar on the left.
Choose which songs you want to sync from the Autofill pop-up menu at the bottom of the Music pane.
To adjust Autofill settings, click Settings.
    When you’re done, click OK.
    Click Autofill, then click Sync.
Each time you use Autofill, iTunes adds different songs to your device.
    Remove items from your device
Make sure your device is connected, then do one of the following:
Remove an item that was synced automatically: Do any of the following, then sync your device:
Deselect the checkbox for the item in your iTunes library, and select “Sync only checked [items]” in the Summary pane.
If the item was added because it’s part of a synced playlist, remove the item from the playlist.
Change your sync settings to keep the item from being synced.
Remove an item that was added manually or using Autofill: Click On My Device, select an item (or items), press the Delete key, and click Delete.
The types of content you can sync depends on your device. For more information, see the documentation for your device.
You can sync multiple devices with your iTunes library, and use different settings for each device.
Important:    Before disconnecting iPod classic, iPod nano, or iPod shuffle from your computer, click the Eject button .
    Sync and organize iOS apps
Add photos to iPod, iPhone, or iPad
Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad

I hope this information helps ....

Then new version of IMovie imported nearly all of my video and then  suddenly closed.  Now it won't recognize the video that it stil hasn't  imported?  I took the sd card out of the canon camcorder but still won't  recognize or import it.  Is there a cache that needs cleared?

Did you get any joy with answering this?
My first thought was that maybe when you imported you chose to leave the files  in place rather than copy then to the iMovie library..but I can't see where that option is now.
I too have created a short movie from load f clips..but can't export or share either..the 'Share 'menu is empty..you go to it and no sub menu appears.

You get all the new iWork suite (Pages 5, Numbers 3 & Keynote 6) free with your Mac purchase. You just need to go to the App Store and sign in with your Apple I.D.
We warn against relying on the new iWork Apps, they really are just public betas and we are getting a number of users here with unopenable files. Bad news if this is your Masters.
iWork '09 can be purchased as a Boxed DVD set from Amazon US$27, or online.
It is much more usable and safer (not totally).
LibreOffice [free] does not have as polished a UI but is actively supported, and uses open file formats as well as MsOffice formats. It also has the advantage of opening/saving virtually every known format on the planet (wish it would do Pages!) and has a usable but not briliant intgrated database.
