AirPlay not showing up

... I have read all help files and about 20 other similar posts in the community but no luck.  I am on the same network and I have reset all devices including the router ... No luck

You've definitely done your research...but there's another reason why Airplay won't work.
Airplay works fine if you're only using iPads, but for some reason, iMacs and MacBooks aren't compatible yet; Apple says they're working on it.
But there's a solution that works every time. Download Dropbox and set it up - and you'll be able to transfer data between devices - free of charge for smaller files (under 4GB).

AirPlay not showing on iPad anywhere. I've tried all of the rebooting functions and checked the control centre to no avail. The wifi networks are the same. Please help, thanks.

To use AirPlay, you need the following:
    1. iPhone 4s (or later), iPad 2 (or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation)
    2. Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)
    3. AirPort Express
    4. Wi-Fi (802.11a/g/n) network

  • Airplay not showing up ISO7, Apple TV update but still no Airplay showing up? Anyone having the same problem?

Airplay not showing up, all are on the same wifi. Can anyone help?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Airplay Not Showing Up on Mountain Lion Menu Bar

I upgraded to Mountain Lion and cannot get the airplay status icon to show on the menu bar as shown in the Apple online help for Airplay..  Airplay does show up in my Mountain Lion iTunes and sees all my airplay devices (Apple TV's) and plays video and audio through them just fine.   Other Mountain Lion features, like the notifications bar on the far right seem to work fine and the notifications Icon appears on the menu bar.
This kind of ***** because we have been waiting to upgrade all our Mac's in the office so we can get rid of the cables in our confernece rooms and just use Apple TV to connect to our LCD's.
Did I get hoodwinked on this feature ?   Is it not really in Mountain Lion ?

    Well, let me explain.
I run a software company.  I LOVE Apple.  I bought 80 macbooks and switched my whole development team off of windows.  They all LOVE Apple products.
We think AirPlay was going to be very cool because we have meeting areas that have huge LCD's in them and we constantly use AirPlay to do UI reviews from the iPhone and iPad - - both of which we write software for.   We were pumped about AirPlay in ML to do the same thing.
There was a collective groan yesterday when we figured out what was happening.   It may have been announced a while ago, but it sure wasn't visible in the marketing promo material that's coming out.
I think Apple UNDERESTIMATED or MISSED the value this has in offices for eliminating cables.  Maybe they thought it was a minor feature.    I don't know.
In the end I think the real issue is it uses too much CPU on the older machines and they were afraid it would cause some real warranty or support problems.
I just don't get why airparrot can create the same feature and it works great.  No CPU heating, no system slowdown.
My personal guess is that it has to do with the encryption operation in some way - -which a lot of people wouldn't worry about.

  • AirPlay not showing up on any device

ive had my AppleTV for nearly a month and it has worked perfectly.  I've been using AirPlay without any problems what-so-ever.  Today I try to use it and the AirPlay icon isn't showing up on my iPhone or iPad.
After having my AppleTV turned on for a few minutes this afternoon while looking for solutions to the problem, the Apple TV said it needed to be updated so I did.  After updating I still can't get the icon to show up on any of my devices.
I've tried power cycling the Apple TV, iPhone, and router and none of that has worked.  Everything else appears to be working fine (I'm watching Netflix on the Apple TV at the moment with no problem) and there's nothing wrong with my network.
The only thing I can think of that has changed is I got a Wireless Keyboard today and paired it before trying to use AirPlay, other than that nothing has changed since I last used it (a few days ago).

Mine works now thanks to this thread.  All Apple devices weren't showing the Air Play option.  It was completely missing.
Before I got my system to work, I reset the Apple TV device several times through the software menu but that didn't work.  It was one common point that could have caused the issue.  Then, I checked my modem.  It didn't have any blinking lights - all solid green lights, so I unplugged the cable modem and plugged it back in after about 30 seconds.  Lights came back on and several began to blink like they're supposed to.  Now my internet is working fine.
Before I did this, I couldn't get online but thankfully I have a mobile device which allowed me to access this thread and I got a couple other ideas on things to try.
Next, I checked Time Machine to see if my Time Capsule required a firmware update.  I didn't think it did because the small light on the Time Capsule device was green and not yellow but I figured why not check anyway.  I found a setting that I changed so it was good that I went into the settings to see if something here was causing the problem.  I have the firmware check now set to 'daily' where it was only checked if I went into the settings which isn't very often.
This is where the thread came in handy.  I noticed that someone posted to check the Apple TV setting to make sure the Air Play was turned ON.  I didn't know you could turn it ON and OFF and hadn't noticed this setting previously.  The default must be OFF because as soon as I went to this menu selection, there it was, plain as day.
All I had to do was turn the Apple TV setting to ON and now the Apple TV selection has magically reappeared on all Apple devices.
Coincidentally, I couldn't get Cloud streaming to work at all either which is why I turned to Air Play but that original problem was because my cable modem was jammed up and needed to be reset.  Had I noticed this to begin with, it might have been weeks before I encountere the Apple TV setting problem.
I'm going to go and submit a complaint to Apple so they know there's a problem with the Air Play setting on Apple TV.
Thank you contributors to this thread!  In all, I spent about 45 minutes on this issue trying 5 different Apple devices to see what the actual problem was.  It could have taken much longer without your help.

  • AirPlay not showing up in iPad Air

I've read the articles about this and tried the basic troubleshooting. Bottom line is that my iPad Air won't display AirPlay, but the person standing next to me has an iPad that will. We're on the same network, same everything. Makes no sense. Our IT people haven't even figured it out yet. Seems to be a 50/50 chance with your iPad.

It's not a matter of chance. It depends on whether or not the iPad supports AirPlay.

  • Airplay not showing up on 2013 MacBook Pro

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro and I have recently purchased an Apple TV which works perfectly with my iPad and iPhone, however my MacBook Pro won't pick up that the Apple TV is even connected to the network. I have had this problem a few times and the last time I completely restored to Mavericks and it was able to pick up the Apple TV, I do not want to have to restore my Mac again. Any fixes?

    Hello Scott,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with AirPlay on your MacBook Pro and the troubleshooting steps you have taken.
I found an article with steps you can take when you do not see the AirPlay icon.  I recommend reviewing the section titled "Troubleshooting AirPlay Mirroring" (the title of the article says Mountain Lion, but the steps are applicable to Mavericks as well):

My Win 8 computer won't play on my apple tv. The icon is missing as well. My Win 7 computer works fine. Both have latest version of itunes. Does anyone know of a problem with Windows 8 and itunes?

    See

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
