Airplay on ios5

How are you guys finding airplay.
Since the upgrade it just does not work for me, i can sometimes get the screen to appear n my atv but more often then not it says something about cmpatibility with my hdmi lead?
Or it just wont work.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Will the first gen ipad support display mirroring via airplay when IOS5 is released?

From what I have read, IOS5 will support display mirroring on the ipad 2.. Is this likely to be added to the first gen ipad ? If so then great, but if not, why not? Im sure if you can wirelessly stream music and movies to an Apple TV device (connected via wifi) from the ipad one, then surely you must be able to use display mirroring ?

In case you didn't click on the link above that is on the Apple site:
    AirPlay Mirroring for iPad 2
Wow your audience in the board room, classroom, or living room. AirPlay now supports video mirroring. Which means you can wirelessly — and securely — stream whatever’s on your iPad 2 to your HDTV via Apple TV. Everyone in the room sees exactly what’s on your iPad display up there on the big screen — even when you rotate iPad from portrait to landscape or zoom in and out on photos.2
So unless you were told be Steve Jobs that the iPad 1 will also do AirPlay Mirroring it really doesn't matter what you have been told, you are posting at best speculation but more likely misinformation.
And no, don't have anything better to do.

  • Intermittent music dropout using airplay on ios5 and iPhone4

    Hi!
After updating to iOS5 on my iPhone 4 I get 5sec dropouts in the music when trying to play, using airplay through my Airport Express. It's almost always 5sec drops and then music returns again, sometimes it appears that the drop of music is permanent until I jogg the iPhone by unlocking it and entering the Music Player. This problem does not occur when I play same music from my Macbook using the same Airport Express.

    ...a little more experimentation...
I booted the MBP 15 (Spring 2011) from an external backup of Lion (made immediately prior to switching to ML).  When I turn off the Server Firewall then I can iTunes Airplay to both the Apple TV as well as to the Airport Express.  But when I turn on the Server Firewall, even after allowing ports 3689, 42000-42999 both TCP and UDP, the Airplay does not work.  I could not determine which ports were needed for iTunes Airplay, all I could figure out is that when the Server Firewall is off then iTunes Airplay works but when the Server Firewall is on then iTunes Airplay does not work.  I tried logging all denied packets, but to no avail, I still could not determine which ones were being denied.
Interestingly, when I turn off the Server Firewall and switch on the System Preference Security pane Firewall, I can still iTunes Airplay to both the ATV and AX.  It makes me wonder if when I switched to ML from Lion that some ipfw rules were not left over from the Lion Server Firewall that then keeps ML from allowing iTunes Airplay to work.  (I wonder if I restore my Lion Server, then switch off the Lion Server Firewall, then download and install ML once again, then download and install OS X Server once again, whether the iTunes Airplay would then work?  Maybe when I have some more time I'll try this, in the meantime I'm going to try a little harder to figure out why the Lion Server Firewall stops iTunes Airplay from working.  Dang nabbit, even "ipfw show" does not tell me which packets are being denied when the Server Firewall is ON and iTunes Airplay does not work...does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out why the Server Firewall is stopping iTunes Airplay from working?)
    Thanks,
    Switon

  • What channel can we stream on Apple Tv

What channel can I stream on my Apple Tv 3rd Generation... I would buy it...
And can we what channel like Cartoon Network??

Keynote cannot currently be streamed to the Apple TV 2 with Airplay, however iOS5 is due to be released shortly which is slated to incorporate wireless mirroring to the Apple TV from an iPad 2, this will efectively mean that anything on your iPad display can be shown on your TV.
Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues).
I have created a User Tip to list Apps that have been tested with Video Airplay, if you have any Apps that you have tested please leave details in the comments at the bottom of the User Tip or email me if you don't have commenting privelages.

  • What apps can be viewed on Apple TV 2?

Hi, I'm curious as to purchasing an Apple TV 2 but I need to know the Pros and Cons before I make my ultimate decision.
Can the Apple TV 2 show any apps? Example, would it be possible to share my Keynote presentation from Keynote on my iPad 2 to the Apple TV 2 or would I have to make the Keynote into a different file to send to Apple TV 2?
What features does AirPlay involve? Is it just for streaming music, pictures, and videos? Is there any support for streaming apps?
Is it possible to be able to give a Keynote demonstration with your iPad 2 wirelessly to your Apple TV 2?
Thanks in advance for answers to my questions!

I also had a lot of problems after ios 5. Go back andcheck your settings in itunes. Make sure you have the movies and photos added to the library and have them selected to sync. Then resync and you shoulb be ok.

  • Will an Airplay device need an update to support iOS5 Mirroring ?

We are shopping for a home theater receiver which supports Airplay, and we found out the Pioneer VSX-1021 seems to be a good one.
I know it will work well right now with iPad2 through Airplay, but I like to know after iOS5 is released and "mirroring" is included in AirPlay, will there be any update required on the recevier side ?
As far as I understand, an Airplay device is just a monitor and speaker to an iDevice, if it works now for video / song / pictures, it sould work in the future if the iDevice is allowed to output more contents, or am I wrong in that assumption ?

The iOS 5 mirroring feature essentially 'mirrors' what is on your iPad to your TV screen. If you opened an app on your iPad 2 with Mirroring enabled, it will appear on the TV. To utilize this feature, you must have an Apple TV. An Apple TV is a way to rent movies, view Netflix, browse Youtube, play music and video from your iPad or computer, and other things.
In a way, the Apple TV is the same thing as your Home Theatre system, for 1/5 of the price. However, I recommend waiting until September/Fall when iOS 5 is officially released and is out of beta to buy an Apple TV, due to the possibility of Apple releasing a new model.

  • IOS5 Mirroring with IPAD1 and AIRPLAY on APPLETV

How do I make my IPAD1 with IOS5 handle the mirroring function using AIRPLAY and my APPLETV?

The AirPlay Mirroring function requires an iPad 2 or an iPhone 4S.
But some Internet video works with traditional AirPlay on an iPad 1. As a test, try playing a video at the CNN Website at http://www.cnn.com.

  • HT4559 My new third gen iPad dosn't have game center or AirPlay. Where can I get and reinstall ,download ios5.

My new third gen iPad does not have game center or AirPlay. Where can I get and reinstall ios5. Thanks in advance

Check to see if Airplay is present as it's a little hidden away.  Press the home button twice then swipe along the bottom from left to right.  You should get the volume and screen settings and there should be a Airplay icon.

  • I upgraded my ipod 4 gen. to ios5, and i don't have airplay.

i upgraded my ipod to ios5, and i don't have airplay. Why not?

No app on the iPod is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or conbtinue to show off-line.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    iCloud: Erase your device
    iCloud: Use Lost Mode
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order

  • Is the iPhone 4 going to be able to AirPlay mirroring when we get the ios5 update

Is the iPhone 4 going to be able to have the capability to AirPlay mirroring when the ios5 update is available

Only iOS devices with A5 processors will support Airplay Mirroring.  So it WILL work on the iPhone 4S and iPad2  which are equipped with an A5.

  • No airplay and no home sharing in IOS5

I do not get this,  after upgrading to IOS5 and I no longer get Airplay on my iPad, nor Home Sharing on Apple tv2. I have rebooted ATV2 and iPad, no luck. They are all on the same network, iMac/iPad are wireless and ATV2 are wired. Same subnet and same router.
Anyone with any suggestion (iI have also tried to turn off/on Airplay on ATV2)
And, yes, the same stuff worked before I upgraded to IOS 5, but then all were wireless, I did put ATV2 back on wireless, but with the same result.

    Solution found !
Saw another thread where someone booted the router, tried the same and voila !
Airplay in IOS 5 is very, vey nice, got to download real racing 2 hd now if you will excuse me...:-)

  • Airplay symbol stopped showing on iOS5 devices

Airplay symbol used to show on iPad2 and iPhone4S for use with Apple TV(2).  Now it just stopped showing up.
I tried reset of ATV.  All devices are on the same wireless network.  All devices are logged into the same iTunes account.
    Any suggestions?
