Airplay on ipod touch 2g

I own an airport express and currently use it to stream from my laptop to my receiver. My understanding is that airplay will allow ipods to stream to airport express http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12282499
So my question is, will my second gen touch be able to stream directly to airport express?

I would say yes since the Apple page the discusses the Apple TV and airplay says:
AirPlay is coming soon and will be available on all iOS 4 devices.
Thus, it appears that only the 1G Touches will not work with it.

  • Streaming music, movies using airplay and ipod touch on Macbook

I am not sure if this is possible but let me explain what I have with me.
I own an ipod touch 2nd gen, MacBook and airport express base station. Now ipod touch has iOS 4.2.1.
As title says, is it possible to stream music/movies from my ipod touch to macbook(instead of Apple tv). is it possible to use my macbook as an airplay device ? I know macbook doesn't comes with iOS, but I assume it is a superset of iOS.

    No....
You can only use AirPlay at this time to stream to:
    1. Apple TV
    2. Airport Express
    3. Other compatible powered speakers

  • HT4437 Apple TV - AirPlay and Ipod Touch

I cant find the airplay icon on Ipod touch...where do I find it if trying to connect to Apple tv?

You can double tap the home button, swipe (left to right) twice to bring up the volume slider and airplay icon. You will also see it within apps that are compatible. Make sure airplay is turned on in ATV settings and that both are on the same network. Ensure the iPod and ATV are is up to date.
Note: audio is on by default but not all will be enabled for video, which is up to the developer to do.

  • I set up my Apple TV without problem and it worked with my iPad 2. Following a software update on the Apple TV I no longer get the AirPlay symbol on any device. IPad 2, IPhone 4s or iPod Touch.

I Set up my Apple TV and it worked well with my iPad 2. Following an update of my Apple TV software none of my devices now show the AirPlay symboL.  This includes an iPhone 4S and iPod Touch 4th gen,. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • Mirror zoomed-in movie playing on iPod Touch 5g to Apple TV via Airplay?

Is it possible to mirror a zoomed-in movie (1080p) playing on my iPod Touch 5g to the 3rd gen Apple TV via Airplay?
My Soniq TV doesn't have a zoom feature and I know that Apple TV can't zoom.
I want the movie to fill the entire screen of my TV (I don't mind cropping some of the edges off).  I can zoom in on the movie playing on my iPod Touch 5g but when I enable airplay mirroring to the Apple TV, it reverts to the 1080p format with black bands along the top and bottom.  I know it is using airplay and not mirroring to play the video on the Apple TV but I want to display exactly what's showing on my iPod Touch 5g on the Apple TV.  Is there a work-around or an app in the App Store that enables this?

  • I have an iPod touch 5 16 gb and I have heard that it has airplay but it not showing up what do I do?

Hi guys so I have an iPod touch 5 16 gb and I'm very confused? I have heard ipod 5 has airplay but on my iPod touch i don't see like an airplay icon! Please help me because I'm very confused! I know my name is IPOD_GENIUS but I'm not a genius on this though! Lol thanks for the help maybe this can help someone else too!

If you have both a device that supports AirPlay, and the iPod has Bluetooth turned on, then it should appear in Control Center (swipe up from bottom).
If you are talking about AirDROP, then in Control Center, the AirDrop button is right below the volume controls. (This AirDrop only works with other iOS 7 devices with AirDrop enabled, not Macs). I have tested this feature, and it works fine.

  • IPod Touch 2nd Gen. / iOS 4.2 update, NO AirPlay!!!

I updated my iPod Touch 2nd Gen. this morning to iOS 4.2, and found that there is no AirPlay icon in ANY of my media apps (including the native players). There is also NO "text search" in Safari. I checked the "About" section on my Touch and it says I am indeed running 4.2. What gives??? Did 2nd Gen. users get left out again???

I have 2 second generation iPod Touches and they both have Airplay.
Not sure what you have for Airplay?
    Apple TV?
    Airport Express?
or some type of compatible powered speakers that can use Airplay?
You need to have on of the above for the Airplay to show up I believe but not positive.
I have 3 Airport Expresses hooked up to 3 different stereos throughout the house and the garage.
When I open up my playlists and choose a song to play, then I am given a choice of what Airport Express I want to play to after hitting the Airplay button on the right of the volume bar.
    So, mine works.
    Not sure why yours isn't.

  • HT201335 does the Ipod touch work with the airplay mirroring

Does the Ipod touch work with airplay mirroring?

No. Only iPhone 4S and iPad (2nd or 3rd Gen) as it requires more processing power. You can still use airplay with your device though.

  • AirPlay iPod touch to Apple TV.

Has anybody tried the AirPlay facility to beam anything on your ipod touch ( or iphone ) to the Apple TV.
For example has anybody used this method to watch BBC iplayer on their Apple TV.
How does the wifi network stand up transmitting everything twice? Once to ipod touch from internet and then to the Apple TV. What about programs in HD?

My iPad and AppleTV are updated to latest versions. I can play only the audio from programs on BBC iPlayer from my iPad on my AppleTV. Works beautifully for audio, but no video!!!!
    Any thoughts?

  • Can I use ipod touch 5th to mirror my screen on Apple TV via Airplay with out wifi connection?

Can I use ipod touch 5th to mirror my screen on Apple TV via Airplay with out wifi connection?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Peer-to-peer AirPlay
With peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device and Apple TV don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. If you have one of these products, you can use peer-to-peer AirPlay:
    * iPhone 5 or later, iPad (3rd generation or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation) using iOS 8 or later.
    * Apple TV (3rd generation rev A, model A1469 or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later. Find out which Apple TV model you have.
To use peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device needs to have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.

  • I am having issues with streaming music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my audio system through AirPlay.  Works perfectly with my iPod Touch.  The AirPlay icon appears irregularly in iTunes and when selected doesn't connect.  Running latest IOS software.

I am having issues with streaming music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my audio system through AirPlay.  Works perfectly with my iPod Touch.  The AirPlay icon appears irregularly in iTunes and when selected doesn't connect.  Running latest IOS software.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    You said:
No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this.
That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

  • Problems connecting iPod Touch to multiple airplay speakers

I have an iPod Touch 4th gen and Apple TV 2nd gen which is also linked to my stereo. I have just purchased an airplay speaker but can't link to both it and the Apple TV at the same time and there is no option for multiple speakers. Is this possible?
When I open ITunes on my main computer this option is available, but I rarely boot up the computer and just want to be able to select the TV and the speaker from my iPod.
    Thanks

This is a mix of wired and wireless with a speedtouch router providing the ADSL connection to the outside world and wired & wireless to one part of the building and then the Airport Express plugged in to a wired ethernet socket to provide wireless access in another part of the building and has a fixed IP. DHCP and fixed networking are provided off all wired and wireless access points. Thus most laptops see two wireless access points. The Speedtouch uses WEP 13 chr encryption and the Airport uses WPA2. All the Mac laptops work just fine off either source, even an old IBM from my wife's work using a PCMCIA netgear card can connect.
However the iPod Touch can see the Airport, will accept it's password, shows the signal strength meter but will not perform, either on DHCP or assigning fixed IP. It does work on the Speedtouch but with limited range. I've tried downgrading the encryption to WEP on the Airport but with no luck.
    Hope this helps.

  • Does the iPod Touch support airplay mirroring?

I'm thinking about buying an iPod Touch ro use as a remote for my apple TV but need to know if the Touch also supports mirroring with airplay.
If it does, is it hard to enable?

No. I think it is only for iDevices with the A5 (or A5+) processor

I wanted to buy an ipod touch 4th gen since it's so cool with the music the movies and especially the gaming. I wanted to know whether its possible to play games on the ipod touch 4gen on Apple TV with Airplay?

  • A note on AirPlay and Third-Party Apps on the 2G iPod Touch

I've been experimenting to see what third-party audio apps work with AirPlay and an Airport Express on my second-generation iPod Touch. Anything that has a play/volume control--Pandora, Public Radio--is just the same as iPod. The trickier thing is apps that don't have that control. Apparently with a newer iPod/iPhone, there's a control in the multitasking interface to switch to the remote speakers in any app, but the 2G doesn't have that interface.
What I found is that for some apps, if you switch to the remote speakers in iPod, pause, and launch the other app, the sound still comes through the remote speakers. This works for TapTap Revenge 2 and Beatwave, for example. It doesn't work for DigiDrummer, for some reason (which is just silent after the procedure above).
Hoping that some of these audio-based apps can add the control eventually.

right now it is only office, but it didn't do it before the update. granted office 2004 was slower on leopard than it was on tiger. i upgraded and office because it was supposed to be quicker and it's not. i've found that quicken is slow under leopard as well. yes, i know it's running under rosetta, but it was much much much faster under tiger running through rosetta.
btw, i'm opening powerpoint by double clicking on the app in the dock, and the app folder, not a presentation.
i've posted on the ms forum as well.
