AirPlay Speakers Don't Show

Hello,
To start, I love AirPlay. Although I should be able to chose between Multiple Speakers, it's still amazing. However, I normally leave my WiFi on when I leave the house and come back. When I come back home, sometimes my AirPlay speakers show and sometimes they don't. They only way i've found to get them back is by restarting the iPhone. (Restarting and Reconnecting WiFi doesn't help).
This really isn't a major problem, but after a while it gets annoying.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Killa K

I have had same problems with missing AirPlay ikon on both iPad and iPhone. I have had loooong conversations with the People at Apple - Nice people but no solution. Of you have upgraded to newest software on iPad, Apple tv and iPhone, and have connected to the same router, and still have problems, the problem is 100 % the router. I have tried with 3 different routere. All working perfectly except AirPlay. It was a Zyxel, d-link and Sagem. The Zyxel router i could'nt get to work. Both d-link and Sagem worked without any problems. Today I use the Sagem.

  • My speakers don't show up as an audio output. How do I fix this?

I honestly have to say that everything was fine yesterday, but somehow I can't select my speakers as an audio output. When I searched many forums about this problem, people seem to think there's an option for that in the sound settings. Well take a look at this:
I use Bluetooth headphones for the time being, but that's just an uncomfortable temporary solution. Also, weird enough (yet probably somehow not coincidental) my mic gave up on me as well. I get basically the same screen:
I also have no clue of how to remove that Procaster Audioredirector, and to be honest, it drives both me and my dad completely nuts. Is there anyone who understands this? If so, please do help!

    Alright, here we go:

  • My iphone 4S doesn't show the volume controls when playing videos and the speakers don't sound. But if I plug in the earphones then I can hear fine and the volume controls appear on screen. Please someone help.

After a week or so of installing IOS 7 now I having this problem, the speakers don't work for videos, music or apps sounds, but they work fine for using the speaker phone. It's definitely some software issue as the volume control appears when i plug in the earphones, but disappears when unplugging them, same happens with the volume buttons on the side, they don't work when trying to use the speakers, but the work when using the earphones. Please help if you have a workaround for this. I don't want to carry my earphones all the time to listen to videos and music.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • Cannot select airplay speakers

I am trying to select a different AirPlay speaker in iTunes. When I click on the small icon in the right hand bottom corner of the iTunes window all my different AirPlay speakers do show. When I click on on of htem nothing happens and the "Computer" speaker stays selected. When I click on multiple speakers the window with the speaker selection shows and I can click on all the speakers but the click does not "stick". The Compute speaker stays as the selected speaker.
When I do the same thing from a different Mac it works nicely as expected. It is just my desktop - where I happen to have my whole library stored - where it does not work anymore. It has worked before and I do not know what happened.
Please help to restore this important feature.

I couldn't get mine to work so I went into Itunes Edit/preferences in "general" checked the items I wanted playing back ie films etc then in "sharing" I checked the music box and also clicked share selected libraries instead of entire library and also changed the preferred video version to 720p (it was set on 1080p), then in "store" I clicked download at 720p as mine is the 2G apple tv which operates at 720p (the latest is 1080p).  Then it all started to work so I don't know really what I did but it's now fine.  Best of luck

  • Airplay mirroring and airplay speakers

I would like to set up airplay mirroring so that audio gets directed to my airplay speakers and the images to the TV.
    LIke this:
    iPhone-->ATV-->Airplay speakers
I can airplay audio through the phone directly to the speakers, and I can also select speakers on the ATV and airplay audio from ATV apps directly to those speakers.. I can also airplay audio only from the iPhone through the ATV to the speakers, as long as I'm not mirroring.
However when I turn on mirroring, the audio always goes right to the TV and not to the speakers. I was told that what I'm trying do cannot be done with Mirroring. Is this right? Has anyone got this setup to work?
Would be nice if I can stream shows from a browser to the ATV and then audio to the Airplay speakers. So far I have not been able to get that to work.
    Help or advice appreciated, thanks!
    Sam

For what it's worth, I managed a workaround with VLC and Airfoil to mirror a video to Apple TV and send the audio to AirPlay speakers.   However, there's still the 2 second delay issue for most other sources, like Chrome and games.
It seems what's missing is a way on the Apple TV to redirect the audio to an AirPlay source while mirroring (holding down select does nothing in this mode, unlike Netflix or Movies where it brings up a source selection menu).  It would be SO COOL if this was implemented in a future ATV update - for all of us with projectors out there.

  • AirPlay Speakers drop off iTunes list - help!

My 4 AirPlay speakers (Bose, JBL, iHome) have worked fine connected by wi-fi to my Netgear WNDR4000 router. I play from iTunes, and also sometimes stream radio directly from my iPhone or iPad.
I have had some issues with poor wi-fi coverage, so yesterday I up graded to a high end Wireless Access Point, the EnGenius EAP-1750h. This is a 802.1ac dual band high power device - the signal strength is amazing. I have turned off wi-fi on my router completely, and am using the access point for wi-fi connections.
The issue I am having is that the AIrPlay devices are falling off iTunes after a variable time (minutes to hours). If I click on them in the iTunes airplay list, they disappear and I cannot connect to them. At the same time, the "connected devices"  lists of the access point and the router show that the speakers are still connected. There is NO issue with internet access on any devices. REBOOTING THE ACCESS POINT BRINGS THE DEVICES BACK, until they drop off again.
I am thinking that perhaps there is a bonjour port that keeps track of the devices that is not making it from the WAP to the router or something - and Apple in its wisdom makes it really hard to find out such info. I am an experienced user, and do not have any gross mistakes in my device configuration; I have read the relevant Apple support documents. I am not an IT tech, however, and I am not familiar with some the advanced settings, particularly of the WAP, which is a high-end business-oriented device.
All the AirPlay devices are connected on the 2.4Ghz network. The base PC is hardwired by Ethernet to the router. Turning off the 5Ghz band completely and using only a single 2.4Ghz network does not help. All software and firmware of all devices is up to date.
Does this ring any bell to anyone? I sthere a setting that will fix this?  I love the WAP, but I will have to bring it back if I can't get AirPlay to work! I'm sure it is not a hardware defect issue - it is an Apple AirPlay configuration issue - that's why I am posting here. Help appreciated!!

Recreating the speakers didn't work for me. I am not sure what the issue could be at this point. Any help would be apreaciated.

  • EXTERNAL SPEAKERS DON'T WORK

External speakers don't work. They are LABTEC LCS 2420 speakers. The internal speakers with RealTek driver works fine. I have an HP Pavilion 23 touchsmart All-In-One PC with windows 8. I plugged the speakers in the headphone port then tried the audio jack in the back with the same resullt. When I right click on the sound icon and click on playback devices and riight click  in the open area i checked  show disabled and disconnected devices only the speakers realtek icon appears. Do I need to download other drivers and how should I do this?

Try the following: Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices > in the 'Playback' tab you should see the ports (rear and headphone) > R-Click the one that you are using for your external speakers and make it the default device.
    Trust this helps.

  • Bluetooth versus airplay speakers

    Hi,
I have an hifi that supports airplay and it is absolutely brilliant. Now I'm looking for something smaller for my bedroom. Basically all I need are speakers because my ipad deals with the rest.
But I can't find airplay speakers. All that seem to exist are bluetooth speakers or proprietary stuff where I have to download something to my iPad (which I don't want).
Are bluetooth speakers as easy to use? Is there any disadvantage compared to airplay?
    Thanks.

For Airplay I use my Airport Express with Airtunes. I have pluged into the 1/8 speker jack on the Airport Express that runs to my music amp (stereo) and my speaker wires run outside to some outdoor speakers. Works great.

  • Watching iTunes Movie on Apple TV while streaming sound to multiple AirPlay speakers

    Hi Everyone,
I bought a pair of Airplay speakers and Apple TV 3rd generation to watch my Movies in the iTunes library. Importantly, I want to listen to the movies sound on multiple Airplay speakers while watching. So far I couldn't activate the speakers, once I started the movie.
Has anyone an idea, how to do that?

Thanks a lot for your answer.
I'm doing signal processing and work with videos professionally. The audio signal is technically always separated (and extractable) from the video frames. I don't see why  the audio shouldn't be possible to be distributed to different airplay clients?
Do you mean that this option is just not supported by apple? In this case, do you know if it is at least possible to stream to multiple apple TV's at the same time?

  • Airplay Speakers- Philips Fidelio SoundAvia

I am looking to play my itunes library and also music apps such as spotify, iheart radio and pandora off of my ipad to 2 speakers in different rooms.  I have a macbook but it is usually off.  I am looking into either an Apple TV or Airplay speakers, such as the Phillips Fidelio Avia.  Is it possible to do this with either of these? I understand multiple speakers may not be possible.  I have also heard about AirFoil and wonder if this makes this setup possible. Also, if I have wireless speakers attached to the TV, then if I use Apple TV will it stream to more than one speaker?

The Fidelio Avia can be used as part of a multiple speaker set up and you can either control it from your computer or use an iPhone or iPad with the Remote App which interfaces with iTunes on your computer.  The Apple TV can also be used as part of the same multiple speaker setup, as can an Airport Express, which is cheaper. In fact that is the system I have. I usually run my iMac, Apple TV and the Fidelio at the same time.
From the iPhone you can both choose tracks or playlists and adjust the multiple speaker setup, the relative volumes etc.
The only thing which is slightly problematical with the Fidelio is that it shows up in the Multiple Speakers popup at the bottom right of the iTunes window on your computer but doesn't show up in the control dropdown.  The trick is to select it from the popup so it is playing in single mode, then go to the dropdown and click the other speakers on. The iPhone interface for the multiple speakers is by contrast flawless and all Airplay speakers will show up equally. Once settings are made they will stick.
As far as I am aware you will not be able to stream from your computer to the multiple speakers outside of iTunes so that precludes Spotify or Pandora, however there are lots of radio stations within iTunes you will be able to stream.

  • Airplay speakers are missing!

I have an AppleTV and three Airport Expresses in the house, all with speakers attached to them. I've had the AppleTV for a couple weeks now. A few days ago, all Airplay speakers disappeared from my iphone's list of Airplay speakers. Only the AppleTV shows up.
All devices are on the same network. I have a current model Airport Express as my main router. Restarting the iPhone, the AppleTV and the Airport Express has no effect. iPhone is running iOS 8.1.3
    What's going on?

  • AirPlay speakers...where's the 802.11n??

So I'm in the market to get some whole home audio going in my house.  I've researched all of the various methods to do so (wired + receiver, airport express + speaker + amp, airplay speakers, bluetooth, etc) and I think I'm going to settle on getting AirPlay speakers.  I just don't want to mess with wiring everything up and doing the AirPort Express thing....plus AirPlay speakers are actually cheaper than doing anything else.  Granted you don't get the flexibility, but it's still a better budget decision.
In looking for some good AirPlay speakers, the only budget options ($150 or so) are Phillips and iHome.  I've found both on eBay for around $80 a pop depeding on the version.  Anyway....what's the deal with the AirPlay speakers only having 802.11b/g?  I was getting ready to pull the trigger, but now I'm thinking I won't because of 802.11n becoming the standard and b/g will be going out the window soon.  My wifi router supports the legacy frequencies, but I don't want to buy speakers and then in 2 years they are obsolete.  I know I know, go with the airport express route.  Well I'm open to suggestions at this point, but I'm just curious as to why the speaker manufacturer's are bundling b/g into their NEW products?

I had a similar concern: an airplay speaker only support 11g, not 11n.  I did some study and made my move and hopefully it helps by sharing what I did.
    Study:
The major chip inside airplay speakers comes from one single vendor: SMSC (lately got bought by Microchip).  It offers 11b/g and not 11n.  No firm schedule on 11n, it takes time to make a speaker from a chip
Most 11n routers support 11b/g too.  So playing music to 11g airplay speakers shall not be a problem; but it will affect your internet speed as some old routers will downgrade to 11g (which is 54Mbps, not too bad).
The new 11ac routers with multi-bands (2x2 or 3x3) can be a solution to this with ability to have separate channel for 11g airplay and other channel for 11ac internet browsing.
    My Purchase:
I did not buy any airplay speaker as it is over $100 my budget.  Instead, I bought Yamaha PDX-60 dongle speaker which uses propietery RF technology which happened on sale at Amazon at that time.  I did a check at Amazon store as I write and they are gone already.  (relief: as I do not want to be sounded like sales :-)
    Hope it helps//

  • Devices don't show on iTunes 11.0.4 (OS X 10.8.4)

Recently devices stopped showing on iTunes, more specifically my iPhone 4S and iPad.
I plug them via the USB cable and they don't show on the upper right hand corner of iTunes.
I have tried reinstalling iTunes 11.0.4, restarting my computer, turning devices off then back on, and nothing has worked. The USB cables and ports are working just fine. I have searched for numerous discussions on this but none of the solutions have worked for me.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
I have the early 2011 Macbook Air (non illuminated keyboard) and know that Airplay does not work on this model (Something to do with the Graphic Card spec IMHO).  Thus to be able to use Airplay on AppleTV, etc then I have purchased the App "AirParrot" as recommended on here and in my local Apple Store.
    Hope this answers your question

  • Can't connect to airplay speakers from iTunes

I suddenly can't connect to airplay speakers from iTunes on my new Macbook Pro - they are visible but cannot be selected. I can connect to them from other Macs and iPads. Can anyone help, pls? I have set the whole network up several times, rebooted system ie.

I had this happen to me on the odd occasion but now have it sorted. If I'm going to use my Airport Epress(s) I first make sure that my PC is connecting to the AE before I even turn on iTunes.
A problem I was having was that my PC was connecting to my wireless router by default (specifically when my laptop was turned off) and not to the AE. As a consequence when iTunes started it greyed out the remote speakers and sometimes the button was not even showing up.
Now that I ensure my PC is talking to the AE everytime I do not have a problem.
I do have one annoying thing with the AE setup though, if I'm playing music over the AE and I unplug any USB device (printer, USB Key, External drive etc) the wireless connection is broken and I have to start iTunes. I suspect it is a hardware issue relating to my particular HP PC as I have just reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP and it still happens. I can live with it.

  • Apple Server as airplay speakers?

I have a Mac Mini runniing Mavericks / Apple Server. Currenly this is the iTunes server for the entire house. I also have several Airport Express units which I use to extend the network and attach printers and speakers remotely. I even have an Apple TV in the living room which I use for both viewing Apple TV as well as listening to the iTunes library as airplay speakers.
What I am wondering is, is there a way to "share" the speakers plugged into my Mac Mini via 3.5mm audio jack as an airplay device? (analogous to using the Mac Server as a TimeMachine server or sharing a printer attached to my Mac Mini to the entire network.). Specifically, I'd like to be able to control all speakers in the house via my iPhone or iPad INCLUDING the speakers attached to the Mac Mini server. Currenly I can only control all the speakers EXCEPT those attached to the Mac Mini.
    Thanks
    Michael

yes, you can stream music to TV
If i was to buy a appleTV then it would replace the one in the lounge which would be off to somewhere else in the house.
where ever you put the TV, keep in mind that you need to connect it to a HDTV (at least now and then, e.g. for the initial setup).
I don't want to loose the ability to control the music streaming from iTunes on the powermac.
you won't, but you may consider, at one stage, to get an iPod Touch or iPhone. with Apple's +remote app+ installed, you can control your tunes from anywhere in the house !
