Airplay stalling big time

I am fairly new to Macs as a whole except the iphone. Recently bought an Apple TV and a Mac mini. Having real difficulties using Airplay when watching movies over to the Apple TV. They freeze, are jumpy ect,ect. We have a Thomson wireless modem from our ISP, I figure that is most likely the problem. is there settings I can change in the modem to help with the problem? Never ever have any issues with streaming anything to my PC

operations?No. In this test case, no writing function happens. (eg. put, del, update)
However, your description implies that the data has been initialized and exists
and no updates are going on. If that is the case there should not be any
difference because replication should not be involved on the get/reading side.True. Should not be big difference like I observed.
Do you have any of the debugging options configured such as debug_rop
or debug_wop that cause log records to be written on get()? Regarding BUILD option, I did not specify such options.
I hope they are OFF by default. Is it Right?
I'll run an experiment based on your description and see if I can duplicate
the results. Yes, please. I need help.

FCP HD Crash! Big time!

Hi all, could you please help. I am on MacBook Pro Duo Core 2.0 with 2GB RAM and running Mac OS 10.4.9. I had Final Cut Studio installed. The thing is, it crashes big time! Tried to start again and ot crashes again. Tried re-installing, but still crash. I run software updates and install FCP Update 5.1.4, Quicktime 7.5, and OS (Intel) updates, all successful except FCP 5.1.4. It said something about conflicting IDs or wrong key of some sort. Please help. I am getting really frustrated on this as I had my worked all stalled up because of this! I am not sure whether the problem is FCP, or Quicktime or the OS it self. Weird that problems only arises as they shifted to Intel processors. I tried running the video with Quicktime, but it crashes too.
Any idea? Help, please.

You probably need to delete your FCP license. Once gone, when you launch FCP, the program will ask you to fill in all the information again and should launch.

NEED HELP BIG TIME!

I wrote a few days ago about this and was told that gathering
information from a form using Post as the method and having the
results emailed to someone wasn't a good idea and that it didn't
work very well. People basically told me to investigate scripting
or hiring someone, or use a pay service like MailChimp. None of
these are options for me right now, I absolutely have to get this
site done tonight and the person I'm doing it for will not pay for
a service.
The client wants to have a form on his site to collect email
addresses so he can compile them into a mailing list to send out
infrequent emails notifying people of upcoming events he's putting
on. He's a local artist with a very modest following, nothing big
time. I have no idea about databasing or MySql, and the person
doesn't want to pay for a service, so basically I'm stuck doing it
the "unreliable" way.
Can someone walk me through how to do this in Dreamweaver? I
assume I add a form field, and put a text field and submit button
inside of it. Here's my questions, to get this to work and use the
mailto: thing, what do I put for...
Form Field: Name, Action, Method, Target, Enctype
Text Field: Name
Button: Type, Name, ID, Value
Any help would be greatly appreciated by one stressed out,

If this client doesn't want to pay for a service then tell
him the best
you can do is gather INDIVIDUAL emails from his site and have
them
emailed to their email address. Then it's up to them to mail
out to
their modest following INDIVIDUALLY.
Basically you put a form on the site to collect the email
address of the
user. Like this:

You would then need to send the submitted form to a formmail
script
which will then send it on to the clients email address.
A free script named Formmail does exist if you search for it
in google
under Free formmail script
You would need to alter the script as per the instructions
which should
come with it and then upload it to your cgi-bin assuming you
have one on
your server.
You then point the form at the script by filling in the
action attribute
like:

I no longer use formmail because it can be a bit of an issue
to set up
for beginners.
I now tend to use server side scripting like php to gather
the
information. IF you have php running on your server then

clear pdf
instructions that will do the job in about 10-15mins.

What happened to the latest episode of Big Time Rush? Sunday afternoon it was in the store and when I went to watch it it was the previous episode. When I went back to the store it was no longer available.

Safari stalls during Time Machine backups

Ever since I upgraded to the combination of OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1 (my workflow is not yet Lion-ready), I've been seeing Safari stall while Time Machine is running its automatic backup. I get the spinner on trying to interact with any tab's content, and then Safari tells me web pages are unresponsive and must all be reloaded (which itself baffles me...why do *all* my 100+ tabs have to be reloaded in this case? Aren't they each an isolated thread now?). This continues throughout the backup. Once the backup is finished, I can tell Safari to reload a tab and everything's fine again.
Other apps will also sometimes become unresponsive during backups, but none as predictably as Safari. Some sites are more likely to start the stall cascade than others (Facebook is the worst culprit, though that may be due to my use of the Better Facebook extension). It's bad enough that I've tweaked the Time Machine settings to back up only every four hours instead of every hour, just so I can get a decent period of time between backups where I can work. (If I let it backup every hour, one backup is barely complete before the next one starts, leaving Time Machine essentially constantly backing up.)
(Based on what advice has come up when I've googled this question, I will point out that Time Machine itself is not freezing. The backups themselves are proceeding normally, though perhaps more slowly than I'd prefer. It's only other apps I'm trying to use while TIme Machine is performing a backup that are freezing.)
I've taken to watching CPU percentage during backups, through iStat Menus, and it never spikes at these times, so it doesn't seem that processor capacity is an issue. The only other thing that comes to mind as a possible cause is disk access speed—could my internal hard drive simply not be fast enough to keep up with both an active backup and the large number of tabs open in Safari at the same time? If so, is there a fix that doesn't involve replacing my internal hard drive?

OK. Problem solved. Did a total clean install of Lion and stopped using Time Machine altogether. Using Memeo Life Agent backup app on both Macs and sending backups to a 1 ter network drive.
Found restoring via Time Machine to be unreliable. Also relized that with Lion and most other apps avilable for clean install via the net, I don't really need to backup my whole system as Time Machine provides.
Both Macs now run really well and no more problems.
Note: When using Memeo with a network dirve make sure to make that drive automatically mounted on startup. You can do this in System Preferences/Users/Login Items.

I pre-ordered the Big Time Rush album 24/seven and never recieved anything

I pre-ordered the new Big Time Rush album 24/seven a month ago. I haven't gotten any email and the album released today. A lot of people (on twitter) were going crazy saying how awesome the album is and yet I have recieved nothing. What do I do to get it to download?
I have the automatic downloads option clicked for both my computer and iPhone.

Look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for available downloads" command and select that. You may find the tracks there to be downloaded. If not, check the Purchases area of the iTunes Store and you may be able to download the album there:

Firefox 4 sucks big time. I uninstalled and downloaded 3.6.17.

Sorry Mozilla, but Firefox 4 sucks big time. I uninstalled and downloaded 3.6.17. I've turned off automatic updates. V4 breaks JQuery and who knows what else, so I'll be a lifelong customer of my v3.6.17 version, coz I'm just not going to have established, clean, awesome code killed by the browser! Only I build web apps so I've got to get all my clients to stop upgrading, too. I've been a Firefox guy for years now, but this is the end of my rope. Chrome is pretty good, as is Safari. I guess one of these is going to be my browser going forward.

I got back from Firefox 9 to my older 3.6.8 version. Despite of the really ugly new look there are silly annoyances like the trasposed right click pop up menu "open in new window - open in new tab" I cant tell you how many times ive right clicked and hit open in new window instead of open in new tab
However, the great flop are the disabled add-ons I was accustomed to (PoxySel and Auto shut down among others )
Many years ago I choose Firefox because the add-ons power but if you take them off and destroy the UI I was comfortable with you are inviting me to try ANY other new browser...like the so-talked Chrome.
Seriously, you should be careful with retro-compatibility. At least, give the user the chance to keep the old look, layout and utilities.

Why does my audio quality drop big time when I use the compressor to compress my final cut studio project?

When I'm working on a project, my audio sounds great but once I put my project though the compressor it looses it's volume big time when I play the DVD on a DVD player or computer. Where does the problem lie? How do I maintain the smae quailty of audio on the finished DVD?

You'll need to duplicate the Dolby Digital preset then alter the duplicate so that the DialNorm setting is -31dbfs and the Compression is set to NONE. Use the new, custom preset to create an ac3 file with the same output levels you had in your FCP Sequence.

My broadband wi-fi is chewing up MBs big time and I don't know why!

Hi everyone Since yesterday for some unknown reason my 4G broadband wi-fi is chewing up MBs big time from my laptop and I really don't know why! Even with the web browsers shut down, the broadband is chewing up at least 1MB per second and counting. Maybe it's a malware problem? I'm sure it's not a devious neighbour accessing the broadband because whenever I disconnect my laptop from the wi-fi, the wi-fi device stops chewing up MBs. So it's something to do with my laptop. I have a Sophos installed so I thought would have picked up any virus chewing up the MBs? Help anyone!

Has your laptop been downloading and updates? If you're using Windows, you can change the settings in control panel to stop it automatically downloading updates, you can choose which updates you want to install.
If Mac, I'm not knowledgable with Apple devices. I would recommend chatting with wireless Bigpond Tech Support on 13 39 33 "wireless"

Its the uglyest layout I have seen, after using the IDT Audio Control Panell in my old HDX 18.
I miss the ability to change the backgrounds, the graphic EQ, the change of font and panell colour trim amung other things.

Hi, I to own a similar model spectre, 3210nr. I am having the exact same issue and was not able to be helped by tech support staff. Infact the staff I spoke to claimed it was hardware related.
I am unable to make any changes that are physically reflected to my beats audio control panel. Most importantly my volume dial is locked on clockwise operation despite my settings selection. I also cannot change my EQ or Recording experience settings.
The issue only started the other day when a technician was helping me with another random problem with my tocuhpad drivers.
I tried a system restore and reinstalling the idt drivers along with spending a few hours with tech support using a remote access session. I think they did a bios update which I think is a possible culprit.
I'd hate to send my laptop in for repair due to previous EXTREME negative experiences on multiple seperate occasions with HP. I really hope someone from HP see this message and is able to help resolve this issue. Or maybe someone in the community with a work around.

Big Time Capsule Problems

I'm having big problems with my time capsule.
I've had it a week and the first backup is not yet done. Today I have spent 6 hours watching it say 'preparing' but never backing up. Now it is saying 'failed' because 'The backup disk image could not be mounted.' What is going on?
Please help - I've spent nearly a week on this and I'm sick of it. It's not what I xpect from apple.

I have been having problems with Time Capsule being unable to create disk image or not mounting, on and off since I got it about a year ago. I have gleaned a series of different assists, which I apply en mass, each time I need to reset and start all over.
Here are the key things to do to rid it of gremlins. (I don't know whether they all help or one is the key to my problems)
1/ Network name. In system folder> Sharing make sure there is a name of your network. Less than eight characters and no punctuation.
2/ Run disk utility to verify and repair disks
3/ In TC preferences, select no disc.
4/ Turn off TC at wall.
5/ Delete the sparse bundle (Created by TC)
6/ Erase the disk (In disk utility), if it will allow you
7/ Change name of Time capsule in TC preferences. Same again, less than 8 and no punctuation
8/ Turn back on and select disk, newly named disc.
9/ Try backing up.
Even if you have done some of these before, I always need to make minor adjustments to the disc or network names to kickstart it again. This will necessitate a 24hour full HD backup to take place, and will wipe what is already on your disc.

Nokia care sucks big time

Many times when have a problem with my Nokia N8, it gets impossible to get any help from nokia, email, calling or on the web, oh I hate the care website. It makes you fill out this big document before you can address your issue and finally when you do, and click submit, the site makes nothing, it just stay as if the submit button was unactive. I don't know if the problem is only in my country Panama? Or Just on the Latin countries or what. I am a Nokia lover, I have being patience with all the lacks of the company, but please do something for us Nokia.

Don't know what the problem may be with the 'Submit' button but hope you are filling up all the fields correctly. BTW, you should not have any problem calling..

When I updated my 3Gs, the selection for custom tones became limited to one tone. Even the said "17 text tones doesn't apply. Blame the web guy who updates the site huh?! hahahahahaha.

I have the basic 6. You got me all wrong. The update made the Custom Ringtone section select one custom ringtone. When in fact in the Itunes i have 3 tones to select. I did Restarts, Resets, Restores from backups, and Restores as new. Did all that Sir. And as a matter of fact all the custom ringtones where selectable back from the previous iOS, now on this newer and said better update it doesn't work.
I feel sorry for you man, i know you're ****** at everyone here in the forum, and i know that a lot of people are complaining. I'm not wasting your time. I'm just reporting the incident or the effects made by the update to let Apple or even you that there is an error in the update and thus reporting this may produce new update earlier.
That's why I'm asking if these updates were check by Steve Jobs himself.
Sorry dude, i'm not the enemy. Just a Mac and Iphone user/fan.

Missing files big time

Hello!
It looks like i made a big mistake. I used a script which searches for disowned files and erased a lot of files in /usr/share/mime/application, image and audio folder. I thought it is not such a big deal since no package owns them. Well, then i log in in my KDE and instantly got a lot of warnings of missing files for okular and juk (and some other too - i don't remember anymore). I "fixed" that with reinstalling shared-mime-info package but now i don't have my music any more in my partition. It is not just that playlists were removed all my music is gone. I just hope that other stuff in on my partition (have yet to check but for now it looks fine). How is this possible? How removing mime files erased my music?

EDIT: Actually i have somehow deleted this files on 2nd june. Don't know how by which actions i deleted them. Ouh well

That's because some of them were overwritten. June 2nd was a long time ago... Whenever you delete something, it still remains on the disk until you write something over it. The next time this happens you should immediately stop everything you're doing, unmount and make a dd backup of the partition (if you can) and *then* attempt recovery.
