Airplay stops when YouTube app is sent to background - every second video

When I send a YouTube video to Apple tv and then switch to another app all is ok. However when I switch back to YouTube and start to Airplay another video and switch to another app again it stops Airplay streaming on Apple TV.
I have to bring YouTube to front, click airplay icon, select Apple TV again and press play. Then I can switch to another app and Airplay continues. Then next video and Airplay stops again.
So in simple words every second video plays ok and every second does not.
Is it a bug or is it just me?
I have iPhone 3GS.

okay spoke a little too soon - deactivate is fired off on any
time the app loses focus, not necessarily when it stops playing. Is
there an event which signals right before the player is going to be
paused? Thanks!

  • Music stops when launching apps

Brand new iPod Touch 64GB iOS 4.1. When playing music and then launching an application (most of the time, Google mobile app), the music shuts off. Doesn't happen every time.
    Memory? ???

If you are playing music using the native iPod app then it will continue to play when other app is used. However, I do not know if the other app also play music what would happen. If your music is coming from an app like Pandora it will stop when another app is used. This is because the presently multitasking is limited to a few Ipod) native apps. The Nov 2010 iOS 4.2 update will add multitasking for third-part apps like Pandora.

Yes, I am connected to the Internet through my wifi. Everything is working fine with the e  eption of youtube.  I have reset all Internet settings and have tried synching to iTunes followed by rebooting.  This is all the advice I have found although none of it has been helpful.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

  • Airplay stopping when idevice slumbers (with auto-lock on)

    Hi all,
I've noticed that airplay stops working when my idevice (iphone or ipad) goes to slumber with auto-lock on.
I'm not sure if it's an auto-lock issue or something that was introduced with IOS6.
Since the auto-lock is a requirement for my mailserver turning that of isn't an option. I would really like for this to go away :-)
Anyone else noticed this? any solutions available?
    Thanks!

When I go to crop or move an image close to the edge of the canvas it jumps to the edge. I am having trouble especially with cropping the space between the image and the edge of the canvas the way I want it. Can anyone help with turning off this jumping to edge problem I'm having?
Hold down your Ctrl key when using the Move tool or the Crop tool, and you can precisely move and crop without the automatic jumping to the edge.

In the Options Bar for the Move tool, de-select the "Auto Select Layer" option.

  • Music stops when open apps

I have an iPad 2 and iPad 3.  Both have the same issue.  I will start playing music using the music app (standard app which came with the iPads).  Music plays fine.  I will then open an app such as Safari or iBooks.  Sometimes the music will continue to play.  Other times it will stop.  I can't seem to reproduce the experience the same way each time.  For example, I can open the music app, start the songs playing and then click on home button to open Safari (or iBooks).  When I do that, the music will stop.
I am using the latest iTunes, have my iOS up to date etc.  I regularly sync to my MacBook Pro which has Mountain Lion.
I suspect I am simply doing some step in the incorrect fashion.
Any suggestions oir advice are welcome.

Actually, in my experience - if you are using the music app and then switch to another app - the music may stop ever so briefly - and I mean for about a second - and then it will start playing again. That split second of stoppage is just because the device is switching to another app and may be short on memory - at least that's my assumption. Otherwise, the music should continue to play.
The built in music app should run in the background as do radio apps like Pandora, iHeart Radio, TuneIn Radio. Those apps should continue to run in the background when you switch apps. They are some of the few apps that really do run in the background in iOS.

  • AirPlay stops when iPad sleeps on iOS 8.3

I recently upgraded my iPad to iOS 8.3   After upgrading, the AirPlay now stops as soon as the iPad screen goes blank.   This did not happen prior to the upgrade to iOS 8.3

I was having this problem too, but I just now discovered that it starts playing again if I press the volume control on the iPad.

  • Why airplay stop when installed airport extreme

After installing airport extreme, I cannot airplay from my iPhone 4S.

First check to make sure that the AirPort Extreme (AEBS) has been configured to allow the wireless to be extended.
Open AirPort Utility, select the AEBS and click Manual Setup
Click on the Wireless tab just below the row of icons in the setup window
Make sure there is a check mark next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Jot down the exact name of the wireless network and the type of security that the device is using
Click Update to save any changes
Perform a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Express (AX) as follows:
Power down the AX for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in another 10-12 seconds as you plug the AX back in to power
Release the reset button and allow 40-45 seconds for the AX to restart to a slow, blinking amber state
Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the AX
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the icons to assign a name to the AX, device password and adjust Time Zone settings
Click on the Wireless tab and adjust your settings as follows:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Exact same name as your AEBS wireless network
Enter a check mark next to Allow wireless clients
Wireless Security = Exact same setting as the AEBS network
Wireless Password = Same password as the AEBS network
    Confirm Password
Click Update to save settings.  Close AirPort Utility as soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored and wait 40-45 seconds for a green light.
Unplug the AX and move it to a location that is approximately 1/2 the distance from the AEBS to the area that needs more wireless coverage.
If you are using a PC, as your post indicates, the Windows Firewall will often block the connection between AirPort Utility and the AEBS or AX, so you may need to check the firewall settings for "blocked" connections, or you may need to "allow" a connection in the firewall application.

  • Why sound stop when youtube video playing?

the imac 0s&system software>os x mountain Lion i don't know doesn't working with my imac computer i don't know why?

The iPad's work.  I believe that we will see some iOS improvement with version 5. I hope with the iOS 5 update for ATV2 will help as well. Maybe even a bluetooth keyboard for 'Safari for Apple TV'

  • How to you stop the health app running in the background?

How to you stop the new Health App from running in the background? Its its always running collecting data on how many steps I have taken and how far I have walked.. I walked 12000 steps and travelled 4.1km DRIVING my kids to school this morning according to the app.

I never intend to use the health app because I do not need an app on my phone to help me live a healthy lifestyle.  Therefore I find it intrusive there is no way to stop it from tracking my steps or whatever else it may be doing.  I found a way to force the app to crash and maybe this will stop it from running in the background.  Open the app, tap "Health Data" at the bottom of the screen, tap "Fitness" then "Steps" and tap "Add Data" type in a huge number - a very huge number with 30 or more characters, you can even add more than 1 decimal point.  Repeat this for "walking + Running Distance".  From this point forward the app will crash when you try to look at the data.  Maye this prevents it from recording new data, I'm not sure but I really like the fact the app crashes.  Hopefully Apple will add a feature to allow us to turn off data collection altogether or even better, allow us to delete this app.

  • Youtube app doesn't play my own private video

I am using youtube iphone app but it doesn't play my own private video even thought I have logged into my youtube account.
Could some please help me how to play it and also recommend me any good youtube client app which is clean and easy to use.

Try resetting the iPod. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • YouTube App Video Playback Poor Performance

Not sure when or what changed but video playback performance on my iPod Touch 4G when using the YouTube app has been very poor the last couple months. Used to work just fine. The performance has been so bad that I basically gave up watching YouTube videos on my iPod. By bad performance I mean it would literally take 10 minutes to watch a 2 minute video (estimating of course). And I would get chunks of about 20 seconds before I had to wait while the video would buffer again.
I know this is due to my connection speed as video playback using the YouTube app at other locations that have a faster speed still worked fine.I think my home connection is up to 5 MB download but I actually only get around 4 MB. But still, this should be just fine as it used to work. Also, NetFlix and FaceTime work just fine at home. The YouTube app should be able to determine the video quality based on your connection for streaming. But it now longer seems to do that.
Talked to Apple tech support and they had me reset my iPod which did not help. But they had me try using Safari instead of the YouTube app. By using Safari and going to YouTube.com video playback on my iPod Touch was just fine. Videos would buffer more quickly then they would play. Even if I left HQ on, video playback was fine. Go figure? Something definitely seems wrong with the YouTube app.
So I thought I'd post this in case anyone else was searching for a solution. This works for me.
Seems like the YouTube app needs to be updated. Mentioned this to Apple tech support but was told Google would be responsible for that and they doubt it will be done due to YouTube no longer using flash. Hmmmm, the app seems pretty integrated into iOS as the app comes installed and can not be uninstalled.

    See:

Try when connected to another network to help determine if it is a network problem
Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.

  • How to create a Notification in the Action center when the app is in the suspended state...?

    Hi,
I want to send a notification to the action center of Windows phone 8.1, when I get a callback from the lower layer code which I have registered for(I have implemented). I am able to do it when my app is in the foreground. How can I achieve the same when
the app is in the background.(ie. in the suspended state)

Yes Franklin, your understanding is correct. But I cannot use Push Notification, as it require a cloud server to send the raw notification.
Is there any other method, which can be used to trigger the app (ie... the background service registered) to send a toast message, when app is in background. Trigger should be initiated by a lower layer service running as different process. I am looking
for something similar to "Broadcast Receiver" in Android...
    Hi Jose,
    >>But I cannot use Push Notification, as it require a cloud server to send the raw notification
The Background Task is the only way to make things work in the background in Windows phone, it have some triggers we can use, such as
    SystemTrigger,
    TimeTrigger, or
    NetworkOperatorNotificationTrigger:

  • AirPlay stop audio streaming closing iPad control app

    Just bought AirPort Express.
Wifi connected to my NAS, used to stream music to my old stereo that is in another room using analogic audio out.
Opening iPad control app I can select and play music, but when I close the app (not leaving in background, closing down or shutting down iPad) the audio stream stop.
In the control app (DS Audio from Synology) I also can't select AirPort Express as player in settings, only iPad is listed. I can correctly select AirPort for AirPlay.
NAS firewall is configured to allow AirPlay, AirPort firmware is latest release, I use iPad 2 with iOS 6.01.
    Any suggestion?

also i want to specify something............if am using loopback address, the sender and receiver(in this typical code, capture and receive files) ought to have diff. ports( i suppose as their ips are already same)
    or am i wrong???
i have given same ports.......i had tried once with diff. ports........miraculously perhaps it worked (the sound was echoed through my headphone),....but next time when i tried i failed......and still failing........any suggestions please waiting eagerly

  • Why did my phone's airplay stop working when I updated to ios 6.1.1

I recently updated my iPhone 4S to the new operating system ios 6.1.1, and I now cannot connect my phone to my apple tv through airplay.  I still can connect my wife's iPhone (3GS) to the apple TV, so I know it is not a network thing or something like that.
Does anyone know of a solution?
If you use airplay with you apple TV, I would reccommend holding off on the update until this error is fixed.

Today, I did a restore on my iPhone 4S, then reinstalled ios 6.1.1.    My airplay works now as I had set it up as a new phone instead of restoring the from one of the backups.
Sometimes when a person restores a phone from one of the backups, you will just reinstall the previous problem.  I also did not setup iCloud when I reinitialized my phone for I did not want the processing to be impeded.
I'll setup iClould later and see if that causes airplay to stop working as I think that was the cause.
I believe the problem was that there was just too many apps running in the background and too little ram and/or processing power left for airplay.  With the new ios 6.1.1, it probably takes up more processing than previous versions and just enough to shutdown airplay and keep it from running.
Miket502,  you might have a simular problem.  I'm not telling you what to do with your phone, but it may be a solution to do what I did.
