AirPlay stuttering while streaming radio from iPad
I have a 1st gen iPad and 2nd gen Apple TV. I can stream videos, YouTube, etc from the iPad to Apple TV with no problems, but if I stream radio stations they will drop out intermittently. Some days are worse than others, but rarely does it stream any radio without stuttering. Again, NO problems streaming video.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Doug
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

trying to stream netflix from iPad to tv, but not working...settings in iPad, or something?
Sorry, totally missed that. Can you give some information about what is happening when you plug your iPad to the TV?
For example, does normal mirroring work (i.e., do you see your iPad home screen on the TV when you plug it)? Does any application other than netflix (be it a game or another streaming application) work? Do you get an error? Does it just show a white/black/blank screen on your iPad and TV? -

HT1218 What do I need to do to use the Airplay feature with Jango Radio from my iPhone or Mac?
What do I need to do to use the Airplay feature with Jango Radio from my iPhone or Mac?
Thanks Community! I solved the problem. In fact it was not a problem but lack of understanding. These guys at Apple are way ahead in thir thinking. I will try to explain as short as I can.
In Lion, ihe Prefferences/Display show only two choices: 6-7 steps of resolution and some color tab. No two screens, no two display to overlap, nothing for us to do. "That was the problem"! Everything is automatic.
When I connected the HDMI cable to the Miniport into a T-bolt slot, the TV screen showed the "spiral galaxy" how Zyriab is calling it. In fact he gave me the best clue. That shows the connection is good. But where is the Mac Book image?
You have to drag it to the right out of the Mac Book display area, and "voila!" it will continue on the TV screen. The same with the mouse pointer, push it out ofthe Mac Book display area and you see it on the TV sreen. Good image, you can keep the max resolution, etc. The sound is still on the Book's speakers. I have to figure that out.
Thank everybody, especialy Zyriab, ne was the closest.
High regards to everybody -
Streaming video from iPad to Apple TV using Airplay
Hey there,
I have the following problem which I havent been able to fix. I have an Apple TV (2010 model) and the latest iPad which I use to stream videos on my TV using Airplay. Everything seems to work fine, I am able to stream and whatch movies on my TV using my wireless network.
However, as soon as I purchased a movie and trying to stream it to my apple TV, I am only able to stream the audio through my Apple TV while the video is shown on my iPad. Both my devices iPad and Apple TV are updated with the latest software.
Is there anyone that shares the same problem or have a solution to this? As I said, only when the movie is being downloaded while I want to stream it on my Appe TV, I am only able to hear audio through my Apple TV. As soon as the movie has downloaded, I am able to stream both audio and video to my TV.
Thank you so much for your input.
SebastianI have just experienced the same issue with the same setup and its very frustrating.
Wanted to watch a movie (Airplane 2), but couldnt find it when browsing directly on the Apple Tv, so switched to iTunes on the iPad, found the movie, and purchased it. I was thinking thatnwhen I purchased it, the movie would appear in my library and I'd be able to start playing it as it downloaded. I realised quickly this was not the case, and that it was just downloading on my iPad, so then I thought, well thats okay, I'll just start playing it on my ipad and airplay it to my Apple TV.... Which is where I met the same as yourself. Only the audio plays when trying to airplay a movie thats downloading. If I try to airplay mirror, I get the message ""the connected display is not authorised to play protected movies". Great.
So I've had to wait for the entire move to download, and now it airplays from ipad to AppleTV. I also then had to do a Transfer Purchases from iTunes, to get the movie into my library. Not very intuitive really and very frustrating when I wanted to watch the movie quickly. -
Cannot Stream Video from iPad on AppleTV - Media Server Apps via Airplay
Hi,
Need help on this one. Am using iPad 4th gen - Apple TV 3rd Gen and iPhone 4S. (all latest firmware)
Last week was streaming video via Airplay using GoodPlayer and ArkMC apps on iPad to stream from my NAS (WD MyBookLive) via DNLA media server to Apple TV - Worked Amazing
Upgraded firmware on appleTV.
I can no longer stream via Airplay from these apps - Airplay Icon appears - I can Select the Apple TV device for airplay (Checked - icon is blue). But no image on apple TV - video image stays on device.
Full reboot of both AppleTV and iPad.
Other software using server type setup (ex.:EMIT app) work perfectly and streaming directly from video on iPad works perfectly. (need to turn on the server on the computer though) or airplay enabled web sites and/or apps seem to work well also.
Mirroring works but the video is not full screen and wrong ratio.
Any clues ? I've lost this one.
ThanksApparently what is happening, and this was brought up in another thread, and what I suspected was happening as well, is that the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch is not streaming the video itself directly to the AppleTV (it might be streaming it if it's audio only, haven't confirmed). What it's apparently doing is, is telling the AppleTV2 to download the video and play it on its own, starting with xx:xx timestamp directly from youtube or your iTunes library. This is why it's only working with your iTunes library or the built-in YouTube app. And also why it wouldn't work with the camera roll, because it isn't streaming directly from the iPhone. So it's not exactly what we were originally thinking or expecting.

Make iPhoto Airplay capable: stream photos from ipad?
I think it would be nice if we could stream photos from iphoto to AppleTV via Airplay. Does this exist via some smart 3rd party app that I am unaware of, or is it something we should ask apple to do?
~gN@The only way I found to do this (on a computer, not an iPad) is to EXPORT a group of photos from iPhoto, select Slideshow, and "automatically load slideshow into iTunes" THEN you can play that slideshow in iTunes. Klunky & slow at best, considering that iPhoto cn instantly display a slideshow on my MBP. :-(
Hope they add Airplay in the next rev.

Macbook audio stuttering while streaming from Netflix, Hulu, etc...
As of late my wife's 2008 Black Macbook 2.16ghz C2D has been acting up while streaming video. It first started with kernel panics, but Iocated the problem and relieved the Macbook of it. Now though after a hard drive erase to zero, a re-install of the OS, and an uprgade to the ram it has an audio stutter present when watching Netflix. I've checked practically everything on it. Even opened it up to check the hardware. Can anyone help? I ran this diagnostic from some help here in the forums. Can anyone see anything I'm missing? The help would surely be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like you have many plugins in your safari.
Disable all plugins except silverlight and try Netflix.
Try Chrome.
Once you run HULU the flash plugin it eat up hundreds of megabites of ram and then KEEP them for hours. It is a FLASH problem.
If you run Netflix (silverlight) after you run Hulu, you will run out of memory pretty quickly. The solution is to quit (not just close) Safari and then go to netflix.
Look at your activity monitor while you are using Netflix. How is your RAM and CPU usage?
Also Comcast (and the like) sometimes throttles your internet connection. Make sure your internet connection speed is still just as fast as it used to be. -
No airplay output to apple tv from iPad 2
I'm trying to stream a web video in an iPad safari browser and output it to my Apple TV (gen 2). It says it's streaming on the iPad, but is stuck at 0:00, and the spinning icon on the TV never changes. What can I try? Both devices are updated to current OS levels.
Howdy Jonny,
If you are having an issue with AirPlay mirroring not functioning as expected from your iPhone and iPad to your Apple TV, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Cannot stream photos from iPad, cannot stream audio from Pandora
Updated to iOS 4.2.1 and I can stream audio from the iPod app on the iPad to the ATV2, so I know AirPlay is working. But, I cannot stream photos (there is no AirPlay icon showing on top of the screen, unlike the video demo from Apple.com web site). Also, cannot stream audio from Pandora (again, no AirPlay icon).
The odd thing is that I can stream Pandora audio from the iPhone 4. But, not photos (same problem as with the iPad).
Is anybody able to stream photos from either iPad or iPhone? How about Pandora audio from the iPad?Apparently what is happening, and this was brought up in another thread, and what I suspected was happening as well, is that the iPhone/iPad/iPod touch is not streaming the video itself directly to the AppleTV (it might be streaming it if it's audio only, haven't confirmed). I can not stream video from Ipad to apple TV!
Hi
I have Ipad with iOS4.2 and I am able to stream audio from my ipad such as youtube, itunes but the video no luck any help please?
see the image : http://www9.0zz0.com/2010/11/07/22/143518425.pngNo, if you can't get it to work with the developer iOS 4.2 for iPad, you should file a bug report on Apple's developer site. The one they distributed is supposed to be the "Gold Master," so the released version will probably be the same.
