Airplay volume slider affects ringtone volume

Consider following usecase:
Using iPhone 4S (IOS 5.0.1) and AppleTV 2 (4.4.4)
Streaming music from iPhone to ATV2 with Airplay using the builtin Music-app (iphone-side)
When changing the Airplay volume with the slider on the iphone this also affects the ringtone volume of the iphone.
Normally I set the loudness for airplay to max, because I change it then via my HIFI-Receiver/TV.
But the next time u get a phone call, you will be wake...for sure.
Its annoying.

Maximum number of wifi clients on an airport extreme before airplay is adversely affected

I know the latest airport extreme (2/1/2015) states that it can handle up to 50 wifi clients.
I'm curious if anyone knows if airplay is adversely affected before 50?

Airplay will be badly affected if you have any number of clients even 2 or 3 actively using the network over wireless assuming your network links for airplay are not all ethernet.. it is not the number of clients but the usage of the wireless that is problematic.. As soon as you get to 70% say usage wireless will become less and less efficient and unable to handle so many clients.
Wireless does not share well.. particularly streaming.. let me strongly recommend if you plan to stream a lot use ethernet.. and keep the wireless to a min.

Airplay volume very quiet with Pioneer amp suddenly.

I have a Pioneer VSX-2021 amp which has built in airplay. I'd been using it for several months with no problems now suddenly it is very quiet. I have to turn the volume up to maximum to just about hear the song that is playing. The amp volume is fine for everything else (internet radio, films, CDs etc) airplay is the only thing is effected. It is the same if I airplay from my phone or from itunes the volume is too quiet. I've been searching all over for why this is happening but it seems no one else has this problem. I can't understand why it is so quiet as it all used to work fine and at normal volume. Anyone else come across this problem or have an idea how to fix it?
Just to reiterate:
1. Used to work perfectly from itune or iphone
2. Still plays fine from iphone or itunes just increadable quietly
3. Amp volume is fine for any other input including playing songs from dlna server and internet radio

This problem has been resolved by doing a factory reset of the VSX-2021 amplifier.

Volume slider and playback volume...

I recently purchased a 120GB Classic and, due to the fact that I don't hear too well, you won't be surprised I find it too quiet (if only I'd known about the 'cap' beforehand so I could have got one from the USA...).
I bought a half-decent pair of headphones, which has helped, and also got an inline amp (which increases the 'noise' as much as the volume, so I'm not that sold on it...). Anyway, I had the idea of bumping up the volume on iTunes and re-syncing all the songs, so I did.
I wasn't sure what the effect on quality would be, so I knocked it up about halfway and resynced the iPod. Which took forever.
I'm pretty sure the iPod is now louder, but I may be imagining it - I'm tempted to put the bar all the way to the top, but if the increase is purely psychological it seems a waste of time (and it does take time!).
So, does the volume slider affect iPod playback volume?

No. If you increase the volume of a song in iTunes, all you do is make it so that the maximum volume on the iPod is reached before the volume bar is at full.
For example, if you increase a track's volume in iTunes by +100% then when it's on the iPod you will find that that track hits it's maximum volume level at about half volume, and turning the iPod up to full volume will not increase the volume any higher after this point. A track which has not had it's volume altered in iTunes will reach exactly the same sound level, although of course you will need to turn the volume level of the iPod to full in this instance.

Using apple remote to control iTunes volume

This must have been covered before. I searched through 12 pages and couldn't find the answer. I simply want to be able to control the iTunes volume with my white apple remote. Presently it will only control system volume and I'm going out to a different device where system volume has no effect.

I too play iTunes to remote speakers (airplay express, apple TV, IOS devices running Speakers app.) The volume buttons on my Macbook Air control the laptop speakers but won't control the iTunes application volume when playing Airplay. Going to iTunes to click on a slider is frustrating when there are volume buttons on the laptop.
Another App solution is Airfoil from http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/
There is a cost and I don't have a free Apple/Mac solution. But with Airfoil, you can link the volume bottons to Airplay volume. This is really a preference that iTunes should inherently provide. But with Airfoil, I can push any audio app (Pandora, Spotify, browser audio, and even iTunes) to any number of speakers both Airplay and computer. And Airfoil will link the volume buttons to the audio output on any of the speakers selected. I no longer use the Airplay option from within iTunes but use Airfoil to push iTunes whereever I want and properly control volume.
Hope this helps. Sorry it is a third party pay app as the solution when Apple could just incorporate this simple request.

Apple tv just lost its volume.

I was watching a program from my computer via Airplay when the Airplay volume stopped. I turned off the power on the Apple TV and rebooted it, but still no volume. There is sound from my computer and television, just not the Apple TV box. It plays video,but does not make the sound effect when making selections and does not play any other volume.
Any suggestions?

None of these fixes solved the problem. Like I said, everything has been excellent volume-wise, but while I was listening and watching, the volume suddenly stopped. I tried all of the suggestions, nothing seems to work. Maybe it's broken.

Cant use apps and stream music using airplay to apple tv: ipad

Hello all, was trying to stream music from my ipad to my apple tv to my stereo using airplay, and while doing that i wanted to play a game,who would have thunk it right, But as soon as i launch a game it kills the audio for my music and im stuck with the normally bad music of the games i own. They didnt design it so my ipad is now crippled untill i am done streaming music, did they? Is there any way around it, or am i missing something?
Question is, can i stream music from my ipad to my apple tv using airplay AND play games on my ipad. I see i can use the web browser with no issues. But games and other Pps kill my music stream. Please help and thanks.

well actually they arent. after pluging away at the problem for a while, i solved the issue. all i needed to do was mute the music in the app, and airplay is never affected. the issue only happens when launching an app with music. as long as i can mute the music in the app, airplay works perfectly. it workks so well that i can still hear the sfx from the game or app in the back ground of my music. which is perfect, just like a game i would play normally, plus i get the added suround sound to my bite sized game.

Why did my ringtone disappeared without press any button

i bought a ringtone from ITUNES , set it as my caller ringtone , but few hours later , it changed automatically n I don't know why , cause I've paid for it twice only for this ring tone -.-
p/s: I didn't upgrade anything n synce my phone ..

Slide Notes Bug

I'm using Captivate 5, and I've had an issue with slide notes that is very frustrating. I often duplicate slides and just swap out some or all of the images in order to save lods of time. I've had several instances in my current project where changing the slide notes in one slide, affects one or more other slides as well. In other words, whatever I type into the one slide replaces what was in the others.
I've checked out the forums and it seems this same issue has been happening since Captivate 2! Has anyone else seen this with Captivate 5 and know how to avoid it?

You duplicate your slides - do these slides have audio and closed caption associated with them? If yes, by design Captivate considers this as re-use scenario and hence change made to closed captions on one slide reflects on all other related slides.
In case, you have a different functionality in mind, do let us know via an enhancement request.

Low levels when recording?

Using a 1212m, recording from 1/4" line-in or from Host wave (ASIO 1/2), when the Patchmix Strip & Main Mix levels appear to be set just right, the recording software (SoundForge 9c or Cubase LE) shows peaks of only about 5dB. Is this normal? If I record at this level can I just Normalize afterward without distortion? It seems that clipping levels anywhere in the path would not be good, but I'd like to record the best quality signal possible. Any suggestions are appreciated.
By the way, are there any Plug-ins that allow Auto Levels in recording software?

Yes. For output volume, only the wave volume affects levels in Audition so I set it to maximum. The master volume changes loudness of the speakers but does not affect Audition's record levels per Audition's level meters.
For record volume, the "Line-in" slider affects audition level meters. I adjusted this to maximum.
With both output (wave) and record (line-in) sliders set to maximum, Audition's record level meters still show a maximum of about -30 db. When playing the recording back using Audition, the hardware speaker's volume knob has to be turned WAY up to hear the song.

Loss of sound after installing ios7

Hi. I had an issue with sound on my iPhone 4S before ios7. When low on battery it would stop playing sounds and keyboard clicks. I know its not a hardware problem, as with full battery, it was absolutely fine. I installed ios7 hoping that the issue would be sorted out, but its now worse - no sound at all. Again, I know its not faulty speakers, because if I go into Settings > General > Sounds, I can slide the volume slider for ringtone back and forth and it will play my ringtone!
How do I get this sorted?

I have this issue on iPad after IOS7. Spread the word, it's an issue. Have spent hours on the phone to Support and no result after back up and restore. IOS7 is the problem for sure. My iPad still gives sample sounds if I change Settings, they have conceded it does not therefore look like a hardware issue. Get momentum on this, or they will keep telling us to do resets or change the mute/screen lock options. More people need to get on this one or it will disappear.

Import video via iMovie and play iTunes simultaneously...?

Yo there, Mac forum! I'm a new Mac user and am pretty dang psyched to be posting my first question. I love my new PowerBook. woo!
So I'm in an improv comedy troupe and I use the PowerBook to play music and sound effects during our shows. I also video tape every show for us to watch at a later date to analyze our performance (like football coaches do). I would like to stream the video directly to my Mac, so at the end of the show I'll have a digital version of the show nullifying the need to perform the intermediate step of digitizing it from the cam sometime later.
Now, using iTunes to play music during the show is simple. Also, using iMovie to copy video from the DV out of my cam to the hard drive is also simple as cake. The TRICKY part is doing both at exactly the same time as they both send audio signal to the minijack output (or speakers). That causes not only the iTunes music and/or sound effects to be played back thru to the stage, but also any sound that the camera picks up will also playback--which as any of you sound people out there know, causes some funky feedback and resonant effects since the cam is also picking up the iTunes tunes and sounds. Phew.
SOOO, does anyone know how I can can capture live video to my harddrive (to a file or movie project) where it does NOT send audio to the notebook speakers or minijack out so that I can utilize iTunes to be playing the music for the show while the video (with it's audio) is streaming into the mac "behind the scenes" in the background?

Oh, in the "old" days importing video was a sacred moment -- you carefully optimized the system and hoped for the best when importing with NOTHING else running on the system... Nowadays people switch to www-surfing, iTunes, or some heavy weight apps during import/export.
...And that's the way it should be! Unfortunately not every system can take such a load so there may still be hiccups and dropped frames or even dropped footage.
But to the original question: How does iMovie's volume slider affect iTunes playback. If you turn iMovie's volume down (in the import mode), does it mute also iTunes? If yes, then you may have to get another device to play the music.

Audio levels drop under a title

When I put a title over a bit of video, the audio track drops in volume tremendously until the title disappears. I can't adjust it to meet the audio level of the rest of the clip. What's going on? How can I keep the audio level stable when I put a title - such as the name of the person speaking - under the video?

That's weird, because a similar bug was fixed in iMovie 5, and I've not seen/heard it since:
iMovie 4's volume slider affects the volume of rendered clips, such as overlaying titles, by setting the rendered audio to the level selected with the volume slider.

AirTunes and Local Speakers...

Well, Apple has fixed the whole problem with making the volume slider affect all connected sets of speakers, but I've go another problem.
My computer has 4.1 surround sound, and it's set up so the back speakers play over top of my bed. My AExpress is set up in the next room over.
I love being able to play music in both rooms at once, but when I am playing in both rooms at once, no sound comes out of my rear speakers.
I just tried playing winamp at the same time, to see if sound would come out of the back speakers, and nothing, so it's something that iTunes is doing to tell the hardware that sound should only come from the front speakers, which is beyond me why Apple would start messing with my computers hardware and turn off my computers surround sound.
My Question: Is there a way to get around this? I like being able to keep the music on in the other room while still coming into this room for music in bed.

i was watching 5.1 problem reports a few months ago, and there didn't seem to be a "common" cause for them. i can recall at least three different things working for people.
