So I was wondering if I could play games or something like Ableton Live and still have the wireless sound system with AIR TUNES / AIRPLAY.

AirTunes streaming with apps other than iTunes

I love the Dashboard "Rabbit Radio" Widget, but why can't applications other than iTunes support AirTunes streaming? I 'd like to listen to Internet Radio through the $2000 sound system the computer is connected to (through the Airport Express). Dashboard, and other applications, need audio streaming capability, just like iTunes.
It seems silly that we cannot do this. This also can be a problem with Safari as well, and other system-level or iLife applications...
Also, the last time I checked, iTunes won't even stream music video or movie audio through AirTunes-connected speakers...

Airtunes is part of iTunes, it isnt really a stand alone app.
If you dont mind paying a little, Airfoil is a great little app that allows you to stream from most other sources to your Airport Express.
With regards to video/movie audio, it does tend to get out of sync when you stream to an AE!

Can you load songs with anything other than iTunes?

I'm trying to re-install itunes after my PC collapse, but I can't and I really want to upload new music to my ipod, but I can't, can I use any other software other than iTunes? Cuz seriously, I don't know what's the problem with iTunes, but I can't install it.

There is a lot of software for iPods that allow you to transfer music and more.
There are things like anapod (http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/featpw.php), ephpod (http://www.ephpod.com/), podplus(http://www.ipodsoft.com/index.php?/software/podplus),and even a winamp extension (http://www.mlipod.com/).
They aren't hard to find, just search.

Can I use something other than ITunes?.....

I am new to using a ipod and I am looking to get one, but I need to know if I can just use a downloading program and sync the music I download onto the ipod? I use morpheus to download music right now and use windows media player.

Although Itunes is sort of the defacto standard for the iPod you can use a bunch of different programs that will interface with it...Try "Musicmatch" although you can't have "Musicmatch" on the same computer as Itunes as there is a compatibility problem so you have to uninstall Itunes to use Musicmatch but I think Musicmatch is much easier to use than Itunes.

Php data service with something other than localhost for mysql

I'm trying to use an external host as an mysql source.
I've used the 'generate from template' option and filled it out with the correct data.
The php code is on my localhost on my mac.
I've made a testfile in php to test my service and it seems to work and get the data from the database.
But flashbuilder doesn't see an operation and when I try to refresh it says:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: protocol = http host = null
I get the same error if I try to 'generate from database' and I click the 'connect database' button.
in the hostname field, I've tried the url to the server and also the IP (in case of a DNS problem), but either of them generate the same error.
I hope some one can help me, so I can really start trying out the new data services.

At first I got the error below, but after putting a ZendFramework folder in the /Library/Webserver/Documents folder my settings got accepted.

I think this is some kind of bug too, since I let the project wizard create a local ZendFramework folder in my project automatically, but it did not get used.
It would really be great to have the webroot on a remote server through ftp or maybe afp in a private network to the remote server, but with only tapping into the remote database already solves a lot of problems for the workflow.
In order to make this work (mysql remote connection) one should create a user on the mysql server with host '%' instead of 'localhost'.
Since this is not very secure, you could also set the host to your external IP (if its not dynamic), or give that user only rights to your testdatabase.

Front beehive with something other than BIGIP

Obviously the iAS 10.1.3.4 under Beehive cannot be updated nor replaced and, alas, Oracle cancelled its work on giving Beehive collaboration server a decent Weblogic base.
Question: while there are papers on how to front Beehive with BIGIP solutions, has anybody been successful in setting up alternatives like NGINX? NGINX seems to be designed to also run as reverse proxy, and comparable products have implemented it as proxy solution, e.g. ZCS.

As far as my understanding is, no you can not. Now, I may be wrong, but I believe Apple formatted songs will not play on another mp3 player. Someone else correct me if I am wrong.

Can Ipot beoperated with any other program other than itunes?

I would really love to use my IPod. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I remove itunes and reinstall it, I get this message:
The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50).
Since I can't get any help from anyone at Apple without purchasing it (and I don't feel I should have to purchase help for a malfunction in a program), does anyone know if I can download books, etc., on to my ipod using something other than itunes.

Can I change the view of videos from thumbnails to details or something other than thumbnails?

Finding files on an iPod Classic that were added from somewhere other than iTunes

I added files onto an iPod Classic from another source other than iTunes, but can't find that file on the iPod, either its not connected self, or when it is in iTunes.
So, how do I go about locating the file without going back INTO iTunes and adding the file into iTunes' library?

Hey thanks, Jim... Actually I do have a back up of my entire library on an external drive. Is the process just dragging the songs and albums from the Finder (from the external drive backup) onto the iPod when I plug it in to iTunes and they copy over? Is it possible to create new or update existing Playlists with this method? But is key is to never sync the iPod with iTunes or do I need to check Manually Manage Music & Videos?

I'd do a "deauthorize all" from a computer you have access to, and then reauthorise the computers you still have access to.

Im new to apple and its softwares, tricks..etc.
So the question is i purchased some stuff from itunes i would like to have in phone and i also have loads of music in my pc that were taken from old cds etc...after my research i noticed there is a itune match or someting that can allow you do that with a 25$/year cost which i agree is not much and i might end up doing it but i don't find it right to NOT HAVE FULL control over my stuff...so is there anyway to be able to transfer these old songs into iphone without using itunes without any risk or problem?

Has anyone encountered similar issue while configuring dg4odbc....I never had trouble with hsodbc. Since hsodbc is desupported , We are evaluating dg4odbc and openlink odbc
drivers to establish connectivity to mysql and stuck at this point.

Boot into something other than hard drive

I'm having problems partitioning in boot camp, so I read that I should defrag my drive. I'm getting the error because it can't move certain files.
So I'm using iDefrag, but it won't let me use most of the defrag options because I'm using the disk it is defraging. I tried to boot using the leopard disk that came with my macbook, but I can only use certain programs while this disk is open.
What do I need to do to boot into something other than the hard drive to defrag?

Since this How-To was written for OSX Tiger you might consider getting a bigger sized USB-Stick for the space OSX Leopard needs.

Kirk, I'm almost certain that any Napster downloads have DRM on them. 2nd problem is that Napster doesn't work for a Mac.
The forums are having problems as you can see. When you post it is taking over 30 minutes to appear in the thread at the moment, so it's really not necessary to re-post.
