Airplay won't stop trying to connect and internal speakers don't work
Yesterday I was listening to music (not iTunes) through my headphones when all of a sudden the sound stopped working. At the same time, a window popped up asking me to enter the Airplay password of a device I did not recognize (I was in a public location). Any time I tried to adjust the sound, the same Airplay window would pop up. I thought when I went home the problem would be fixed because I would no longer be in range of the Airplay device, but I still do not have any sound through headphones or the internal speakers. I don't even get the startup sound when the computer turns on. I have tried plugging and unplugging my headphones several times to reset that sensor, but nothing changed. There is no red light by the headphone input, and when I go into settings there is no external output option (see picture). Also, whenever I press any of the volume buttons on my keyboard, I get the the second image. I have restarted my computer, and searched everywhere for solutions, I have seen a few other people with the same problem but so far no solutions. I have a 2011 MacBook Pro and am running OS X 10.9.5

10.1.0.4181 won't stop trying to load, and now the Calendar won't sync
Hello, my Q10 upgraded to 10.1.0.4181.
1) BB Link trying to upgrade and it's already done. I turned off the auto upgrade but that hasn't fixed it.
2) Now my local Calendar entries won't sync to Outlook. I restored from the backup taken just before the upgrade, but still no calendar entries. I don't want to put my private info on the cloud.
I've read other threads on issues with 10.1.0.4181 but haven't seen anything on how to fix my device. Any suggestions?MCGozers wrote:

Internal speakers don't work and don't appear in system prefs
all the sudden... i was using my macbook in the morning, it was working. then, later, i turn it on again and it just has no sound and there is a red light coming out the headphone hole... what is happening??? can somebody help me??
The headphone jack on the MacBook has a small switch for "digital output". The red light you see means the switch is stuck in the "on" position. Try inserting and removing your headphones a few times to see if you can flip the switch. You can also try using a toothpick to poke the switch back into the "off" position. If you're not comfortable doing that, take the computer to an Apple Store and ask a Genius to fix it for you.

Upgraded to yosemite now my speakers don't work and i can't play videos on Facebook.
When i play a video on face book I'm told i need to upgrade flashplayer, i wasn't even aware i had it downloaded! I have got rid of flash player (i think ) and now I'm told i need to download FP before i can watch videos. I can't play games on FB either and my speakers don't work.
I wish i hadn't upgraded to Yosemite to be honest as i prefer the old layout and it seems to have caused me problems. Everything was working fine before the Upgrade to Yosemite.
Im not good with computer terminology so please reply as simply as possible :-)
Thank youTry un-installing and then re-installing.

Audio port and internal speakers issue
My audio port and internal speakers are not working when playing and/or streaming audio. I'm assuming it's a software issue considering it has happened straight after downloading OS X.
Any, simplified and jargon-free advice, would be very appreciated. Need music for my hours of coursework/essay writing ahead of me.
Many thanks for any help
AndyIt often is helpful to know what EXACT model MBP one is dealing with.
What works or does not work under what conditions? Internal speakers, earphones?
Have you opened System Preferences>Sound and checked the settings?

iTunes RADIO is not working.
“iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.” Try as I may, as many as ten attempts, trying to connect after restart, after shutdown, nothing works. Just so …
iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio. People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

NOTE: no password for iTunes exists in my Keychain. Is this a problem?
Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes. Very strange.

How can I get iTunes to stop trying to connect to the iTunes Store?
So my company decides to cut off my access to the iTunes Store. So I go in to Prefs and turn off all things iTunes Store related. I'm still getting a message saying it can't connect to the iTunes Store. How can I get iTunes to stop trying to connect?
Disable itunes store in preferences.
It's also possible you have some podcast group trying to connect to iTunes if that's their source. Disable podcasts or at least set preferences to check for podcasts manually. -
The Archive Utility won't stop trying to unarchive
hi there,
i downloaded a zip drive yesterday and the unarchive utility won't stop. i pressed cancel, and the cancel button greyed out. i've gone to force quit and it doesn't do anything. i've tried to shut down the computer and it says the shut down was canceled by the archive utility. any suggestions?\
thank you!try killing the process from Activity monitor.
if that doesn't help kill the loginwindow process that belongs to your user using Activity monitor. this will force an immediate user logout. if all else fails hold the power button to force a shutdown. -
I updated to iOS5 weeks ago; but suddenly I can't open the mail, contacts, calendar settings and I am not getting any email to my iPad2 AND it keeps trying to connect and it is runnijng the battery down...any help?
I already tried rebooting, and I tried hooking it up to itunes as well, no luck there either.Try to reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings. It won't delete your data.
When you say reboot, do you mean you pressed the home and sleep button at the same time until it restarted? -
My phone won't stop trying to send iMessages to a Blackberry user
My friend experimented with the iPhone 4S, but returned it a week later for another Blackberry. Now my iPhone won't stop trying to send him iMessages. I've tried deleting his contact info (from everywhere, including the iCloud), and re-entering it. I've also tried deleting all previous text/iMessage conversations with him. Restoring, resetting, etc. Nothing has worked. Any thoughts/suggestions?
You don't have much choice, do you? You're either going to have to restore the software or take it to the Genius Bar to see about getting that button fixed.

My iPhone 5 won't stop scrolling through songs and I can't stop it please help !! :(
settings - general - usuage - music - delete. Then do a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then sync the music back via iTunes. -
I just tried to connect and sync my iTouch 4G to iTunes and got this error message: " This iPod can't be used because Apple Mobile Device service is not started". I just did the upgrade fo Safari and iCloud. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

When I select the Airport Express as Remote Speaker in Itunes I just see trying to connect and it can't connect.
I changed my password on the Airport and I don't see where I can put in the new password in Itunes.
This problem is on my Imac. On my Mac Pro a window came up asking for password to connect because it was the first time.
I can connect on the Mac Pro but not my Imac.Update on my problem connecting in Itunes with my Airport Express. Not sure if anything I tried made a difference
but I finally got the Pop up window saying this device requires a Password. I entered the password and I can once again use the Airport Express as a remote speaker. -

Whenever I try to text ...
Remember, your iPad is not a cellular telephone. It cannot do texting in the way a cellular telephone can - using SMS over a cellular network. All it can do is iMessage - meaning it would use WiFi to communicate to another Apple device. -
I've been having this problem for a while now and I can't seem to fix it. Any time I log into any page, Firefox says not responding and I have to restart it. I have to run all of firefox in safe mode if I log out of my email or facebook. I've tried resetting FF and it still doesn't work.
''' "I have to run all of firefox in safe mode if I log out of my email or facebook. " '''
Please explain what you mean by '''all of firefox'''. You're either running in the Firefox SafeMode or you're not. There's no "all" or partial SafeMode.
Please see this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
