Airport 6.2 and iPad1 5.1.1
Just installed AirPort w/ ver 6.2 for my router but now my iPad 1, ver. 5.1.1 can not connect to the internet. All of our other computers and iPhones connect without any problem.
Suggest that you work your way through Apple's Troubleshooting Guide for iOS devices:

If still no help, and everything else is working, you'll need to post in the iPad support community. We are not iPad experts here. They are there.

Time capsule has been working perfectly for months.
Suddenly I can't connect to the drive on my airport time capsule and am receiving the message: “AirPort Time Capsule” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found.
Time machine appears to be still backing up (last backup within the last hour), but drive is not visible and I have files stored on it.
I have tried rebooting everything in order as suggested for other issues, anyone got any ideas how to see the drive again??What OS are you running??
It is very typical Yosemite issue.
1. In airport utility does the TC show up.. if so click it.. and see the summary page which will include its IP address. That is what you are after.
From my screenshot you can see the TC address is 192.168.2.57
It might well show up briefly after a reboot or in ipad / iphone version utility. Yosemite is hopeless. The airport utility hardly works.
2. In Finder use Go, Connect to server.
Type in SMB://192.168.2.57 (replace with IP you discover).
If it is possible it will request a password.. type that in and DO NOT FORGET.. to store it in your keychain.
This will work until the TC changes IP which won't happen if it is main router.. but will happen if it is bridged.. so you need to tell me the whole network setup.
Mavericks is nearly as bad and the above instructions should be universal except I would use AFP instead of SMB. Apparently Yosemite is now totally Windows oriented. -
Problem with set up airport time capsule and ATT net gear 7550 router
how to set-up airport time capule to work with AT&T Netgear 7550 router. i keep getting an error
Since this is a full router.. simply set the TC to bridge mode..
Plug WAN TC into the LAN of the Netgear.
Highly recommend using ethernet to do setup as well.
Go to airport utility.. and select the TC. If it doesn't appear in the airport utility tell us.
When you click it a summary page will come up.. click edit on the summary.
Go to the network tab and select bridge mode..
Then go to the wireless tab.. you can choose here from a few options.. I recommend create a wireless network. And use a different name to the existing wireless of the Netgear.. use wireless names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. they just work better. Use it for whatever device is going to use the TC to backup.. for internet it doesn't matter if you connect to the netgear or the TC .. whichever is better connection. -
Use airport for internet and ethernet for local?
Hi. Ive searched around and cant find an answer for this.
I have a 27" imac connected to my router and all works fine for accessing the internet.
I have several other devices close by that I want to connect via ethernet. If i connect the imac to another router via ethernet I can browse my local devices but loose internet connectivity. It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected. I don't want my second router to act as a bridge as it doesn't support N speeds.
Essentially, I want the imac to use airport for internet and the ethernet port for local files.... The only workaround I have is to unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the imac when i want to use the internet. I'm hoping it's just a DNS issue, but cant seem to resolve it.
I do not need internet connectivity for the other devices and don't see how i can do that without enabling the wireless side of my second router and then creating a bridge...
Any suggestions? It is as if the imac will suspend the airport connection while the ethernet cable is connected.
The Connection Order on your iMac is set so that if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", the iMac will give priority to the Ethernet connection.
If you want to configure your iMac so that it gives priority to an AirPort connection if both AirPort and Ethernet are "on", give this a try:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock) and open Network
Click on the small gear icon at the bottom of the connection list on the left
Click on Set Service Order and drag AirPort to the top of the connection order list
Click OK, then click Apply
Now, if both AirPort and Ethernet are active, your iMac will give priority to the AirPort connection. If you want to connect using Ethernet, you will have to turn AirPort off by clicking the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of your computer screen. -
Can't Connect to Internet using AirPort Extreme Card and DLink Router
I have tried just about everything, but I can't seem to connect my MAC OS X 10.3.9 to the internet. I am using the Airport Extreme Card and no networks show up. I am trying to connect to my DLink router. I was told by DLink that it is compatible with AirPort Extreme cards, but the guys at Best Buy were unable to connect to their wireless routers, other than their Mac Router. Please let me know if you have a solution! Thanks
dannabee, Welcome to the discussion area!
What Mac do you have?
Do you have iMac G5 or a Power Mac G5?
Did you install the AirPort Extreme card yourself? -
How can I monitor my monthly data usage for all 3 computers in my house? I have an Airport base station and it seems there should be software to monitor it from that point rather than monitoring the usage for each computer and then adding it up.
The following example was one of dozens that showed up on a simple Google search of.....
monitor Internet data use on a Mac
Watch your Internet usage with NetUse Monitor | Macworld
Most service providers have an application for their users as well. -
I have just bought an airport time capsule and i am trying to install an airport utility programme to support this
However, it seems the version 6 which came out last year - i can't use on my Mac - Snow Leopard -
So tried to then install version 5.6.1 and although this installed properly, it says this will not support my capsule
2. I have BT home hub 2. I presume I cannot bypass this as the internet router? I bought the time capsule for its capability to back up . The router was a byproduct. But am I correct in thinking that it acts as a secondary router or a booster rather than a primary router . I still need the BT homehub?
if anyone can help that would be great
CS JYou should either return the Time Capsule or upgrade your Mac at least to OS X 10.7.

I would like to set up a homegroup with a new Macbook Pro and 2 Windows PCs. The PCs are wired to an Airport Time Machine and the Mac is wireless. All computers have internet through the Airport Time Machine.
The method for setting up file sharing is described here:

Basically had APxtreme working with fiber optic in Japan, got to the states with Docsis(cisco) modem and my APxtreme doesnt work now. Tried forever, and it just didnt work, I had a yellow light for internet on airport utility with a green light for the APxtreme? Still nothing workey....
Anytime you change networking hardware, it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking components.
I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results. -
If I have an airport extreme and a time capsule is it possible for seamless switching between the 2 when a signal is weak or drops
Main reason is as I move from my first floor to my attic office and would like to place one (airport extreme)downstairs and time capsule upstairs to get complete coverageIn theory, yes. If you configure the two base station into either an extended or roaming network configuration, you should be able to walk a laptop between routers and the laptop should attempt to connect/reconnect to the base station providing the stronger signal ... but, in reality, this is not always 100% true.

AirPort is on and everything is conected but nothing is happening?
Trying to play speakers and print but nothing is happening. Just need a little help with this Express.
All software has been down loaded. It's telling me the airport is on and I'm conected to my wireless hub in the office.
When I open itunes the bar at the botom of the window that should be there to select my stereo is not there? Maybe not compatable?
Printer is a new HP Photomart. It's been installed but will not print wireless.
I'm a little lost, help? Can you connect if you hook up directly to the router or modem?
Personally, I would run the Mac OS X 10.4.6 Combo Updater (and then run permissions) to bring my system completely up to snuff. -
Creating a bridge with airport extreme (base) and airport express
i am having trouble creating a bridge with airport extreme (base) and airport express. i got the airport express to connect to my network. Airtunes sees it fine. i have an iMac (running Tiger) connected to the airport express via ethernet which i was hoping to get internet on (the iMac doesn't not have built in wireless and i had a spare airport express). now the airport express is no longer visible to the airport setup assistant on that iMac. but, like i mentioned, Airtunes is working fine, and the light is green.
i'm new to the wireless stuff. i am sure i just missed a step. how do i get the iMac to connect to the internet via my airport express bridging to my airport extreme wireless network?
your help is appreciated. You can do this with the equipment you have. Configure the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to act as a WDS main base station and configure the AirPort Express (AX) to act as a WDS remote base station. That will allow you to use the Ethernet port on the AX.
Unfortunately WDS also causes the available wireless bandwidth to be cut in half. -
Airport times out and have to restart
airport times out and have to restart constantly
I have exactly the same problem. It started a few weeks ago and the helpline could not work out the problem, so they sent me a new HUB 2.0. Ever since, the broadband connection keeps stopping every day several times a day, which is a real pain as I work from home.
I've just ran InSSider and there are two NETGEAR SSIDs on the same channel as mine (11). Would this affect / be part of problem? There are other SSIDs on channels 1,6,7 and 13. Not very techie, so would appreciate very basic advice! -
Bought an Apple Airport Extreme used and it did not come with any discs. Do i need any discs? or is there another way to setup this airport without using a software disc?
You can download the setup manual and software that you need.
Look on the bottom of the AirPort Extreme for the Model Number. It's A....... something.
Post back with the model number and the exact operating system you are running on your Mac or PC. -
I had an Aiport Base Station and extended using Airport Express, where I also connected my printers (network). Now using Airport Extreme off Mt Lion 10.8.4 and Utility 6.3.
I can't extend the network (express) or connect my printers (USB) nor will it find my one wifi printer.
What's up?For now, leave the AirPort Express powered off.
Power off the entire network....all devices.....in any order that you want
Wait a few minutes
Power up the modem first, and let it run 2-3 minutes by itself
Power up the AirPort Extreme next, and let it run a full minute
Keep powering up devices one at a time about a minute apart until everything is powered up (leave the Express off for now)
Open AirPort Utility and check to see if the AirPort Extreme is visible.
If it's not, click the AirPort Utility menu at the upper left of the screen, then click About AirPort Utility. Post back with the version number of AirPort Utility that you see there....which should be AirPort Utility 5.6.1.
Post back on your progress.
