Airport and network problems after recent update

I want to know if someone is aware of what went wrong with the latest OS updates, all my computers forget my local wireless connection and sometimes I'm connected to my co-workers unprotected red. Airport just won't do its job.
This issue is really frustrating since several applications like Flash for example give you and error when saving a file after reconnecting to your network after a network loss.
If someone knows how to work this around to stop this annoying behavior please advise, I'm sure I am not the only one experiencing this.
Regards

Dear Eyewake,
I have had the same problem recently, after QuickTime 7.1.1 upgrade. The only way I can now get wireless access is to leave the network unprotected at factory settings. At least one other person posting to this discussion list has this problem in the last week, but no replies.
Do you know where else we can try to get help?

  • [solved] sudo and yaourt problems after recent updates

After recent updates (past week) yaourt started giving me problems. When using yaourt it prompts me for sudo password but it does not seem to use my sudo configuration.
    I get this:
    [sudo] password for root:
    [sudo] password for root:
    Password:
    su: Authentication failure
    Password:
When entering mine or root's password I just get prompt again. The last password is for su, which when I enter root's works.
It seems sudo is not using /etc/sudoers configuration either, as I have things like insults enabled and it used to work previously.
    Any reason for this?
    sudo works fine otherwise.

  • [Solved] LaTeX and LyX problems after recent update

After the recent TeX update, problems arose that were already discussed in another thread, the solution is in a post by bender02. Because I use LyX instead of the "normal" latex command line tool, I was getting the following:
The layout file requested by this document,
    scrbook.layout,
is not usable. This is probably because a LaTeX
class or style file required by it is not
    available. See the Customization documentation
    for more information.
LyX will not be able to produce output.
I am just posting this here to make it easier for others that search for that LyX message to find the solution.

    Great jstarek!
    That information saved me!
Don't know why the TeX updates break so easily...

Why can't my Apple TV2 can't find my network connection after recent update?

I had to update the software on my Airport Extreme then reset my apple tv and that resolved the issue for me.

iPhone also works with no problems.
On OS X it's very hard to load a web page, only sometimes it works good, as shown on ping, i have 41% packet loss:

  • Z1 bluetooth and network problem after updating to 1.136

    Hi,
Last week I updated my phone via PC companion when it notified me a new system update was available. The update took me from Android 4.2.2 to 4.3, and the biuld number is now 14.2.A.1.136.
I use my phone with a SmartWatch 2 all the time, and a SBH20 bluetooth headset in my car. Before the update everything worked fine, but now I have issues with bluetooth connectivity. My SmartWatch 2 randomly disconnects and reconnects to the phone, and so does the headset. In the watch, specifically the Whatsapp notification app by LIS software stopped getting notifications most of the time, although every once in a while it does. The SBH20 also randomly disconnects and sometimes it takes minutes to reconnect by itself. I already unpaired and paired again both devices, even reset the SmartWatch, and the problem persists.
But the most recurrent issue is that the phone repeatedly notifies me to "Sign in to network"... and has problems connecting to the 4G and even to wi-fi networks, meaning that sometimes I don't get any data at all for who knows how long, because it happens randomly.
One thing that seems to me is that every time i lose my bluetooth connections it's because (or at the same time) of whatever happens that triggers the "Sign in to network" notification.
I was really happy of having purchased the whole package of phone, watch and headset, please help me with this.
    Leonardo

This is the responses I go from Sony "Customer DON'T Care....." regarding bluetooth issues -
"We can advise Sony Xperia do not test our products with other manufacturer’s devices and so we can not confirm the two devices are compatible.
As the handset has been updated this does indicate it is running different software which means the Bluetooth will have also been updated. Sadly, as Sony Xperia does not test our products with third party Bluetooth devices we will not have been able to foresee the change with your specific device.
We could only suggest that you contact the manufacturer of the device for any further assistance as there is nothing further we could advise.
We do apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
It is not that the software does not work it is the fact that we have updated the bluetooth drivers withing the update you have which no longer makes the bluetooth compatable with your car kit, if you ahve not contacted the car manufacturer already then I would suggest contacting them and seeing if there are any updates needed to the car kit."
Mmmmmm... so it seems that they DO NOT test any O/S upgrades against anything.....
It seems strange that both Samsung(S3 running 4.3)  and HTC M* (running 4.4.2) both work perfectly with my car audio system and the "developers" at Sony cant... either that or they just do not care... The smart money is on the latter... My z1 is THE WORST PHONE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF OWNING....

  • Airport slow to join after recent updates

anyone else experiencing problems re-connecting to wifi after sleep?
my wifi at home is virgin box and it's always been quick to connect. but after recent Mac OSX updates, it seems to be taking forever and sometimes fails completely.
no problem with other devices, including 2 iPads at home, so it's a reasonable deduction that wifi transmitter is okay.

If you just installed it, then you need to update grub with os-prober/grubmkconfig.
If you had it installed previously, had a working grub entry and then updated to 3.14.28-1-lts, then we'll need to look into what is going wrong.

Again, did this happen after or before the update? If it happened after the update, could you post a list of packages that were updated?

Are you using KDE Plasma 5? It looks like that might be related. And what's meant by "I tried many things"? What did you try?

  • QuickTime in Safari problems after recent update

I noticed that, after the recent 7.1.6 QuickTime update, media content on some web pages (like http://www.comcast.net) do not display. In their place is a QuickTime symbol with a "?." I've attempted to re-install QuickTIme, but to no avail. I've also noticed that the problem does not occur when using other browsers (such as Opera). Any quidance?

Thanks for the link. The file that was recommended to be deleted (com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist) didn't solve the problem. However, since the problem didn't affect my other browsers, I tried to delete other Safari preference files (i.e. com.apple.Safari.plist and com.apple.Safari.plist.saved) and the problem disappeared. I didn't find any of this information on the Apple discussion boards, and forgot to look on MacFixIt, etc. Thanks for the help!

  • Problem after recent update!!

    Ok, here's the deal.
Recently I updated my 30 gig ipod (it was sometime this month, but idk what the day was, and the ipod was bought last summer i think)
so anyway, after i updated it, it started having these problems:
first off, when I am watching videos and i touch the click wheel sometimes only the battery will come on, and sometimes only the volume/time only comes on.
and then i have to reset it (menu and the middle button) for it to work again.
and then, when i was going through the songs really fast and the letter comes up in the middle (with the gray box around it)
so it goes from a-z normally, but instead of doing numbers next it puts "G" on there. ***?? and how can i fix this??
Also, if i do the reset with iTunes (or the one in the settings menu) will it delete all music and stuff like that off of it? Is there a way for me to get around this bcuz i delete the vids offa my comp. after they are on my ipod because i have a really small hard drive. Please help!!!

  • Firefox and Adobe problems after Flash update last night

OK, this is a non-Apple question, but I haven't found any solution yet.
Everyone knows that to run the "Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in, Version 10.1.3" in Firefox, you had to open in 32-bit mode. I did and that plug-in, plus the "Adobe Acrobat Create PDF 1.2" extension worked just fine running Firefox 12. Tonight I got notification that I needed to update Adobe Flash Player. I did (quitting and restarting Firefox after the installation).
THEN up popped a warning - Firefox suggesting that I disable the NPAPI plug-in and finding out here that Firefox was disabling the plug-in. So I disabled it, restarted, etc. Then I found that the Create PDF plug-in would crash if I tried to save a web page as PDF within Firefox.
Is there any way to go BACK to the older Flash plug-in? That seems to be at the root of my problem. I can use PDF Browser plug-in in Firefox to display PDF files but what I really need is the Create PDF extension back (it's strangely absent from Safari - at least I've not been able to find it).
    Any help out there?
    Thanks,
    Clinton

Create PDF or save as PDF?
    Pete
    Pete,
I can always use the PDF creator "Save as Adobe PDF" that is available from the Print menu and added by Acrobat Pro X, but it does not always save the hyperlinks correctly, etc., where the Adobe Create PDF does a fantastic job... I'd just like to have it back. It does not show up in the Safari extensions/add-ons for some reason.
Thanks for getting back so quickly!
    Clinton
Then you may well have to go to the Mozilla Forums on this one. As I say, I steer clear of Firefox because of all it's bulky extentions.
    Good Luck
    Pete

  • Keyboard and Contact Problems after Iphone Update to 4.2.1

Hey Guys, after i updated my brand new Iphone 4 I got a few Problems with my contacts... some Contacts were deleted (only the numbers, not the names). And I can not write ß, é, è and so on...
All Settings set to German. But these letters are not available while holding e or s...
    Can somebody help me?

if you dont have your contacts backed up on a computer then they very well could be gone
this wont fix your contact issue but this is what I would try for your other issue
to be honest these are the solutions that may or may not work..
first thing I would try is rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 15 seconds until you see the white apple logo
if that doesn't work I would restore from backup and if that doesn't work I would restore as new if all else fails take it to your closest apple store they may replace the phone for a working one..

  • Cyclic network issue after recent update

This topic is covered in a recent post but thought I would highlight it in a separate post now that I know more about it.
Having installed the recent Udev update on a virgin Noodle system, my network (Internet via LAN and Cable using dhcp) goes through a cycle of working, then not working with each subsequent reboot.
My other Linux system (Frugalware) and Windows XP are not effected.

Yes, this is an issue that was reported by several testers, but not fixed prior to release. The Engineers believe it has something to do with the Airport Extreme Base Station/Airport Time Capsule units. Some testers switch to non-Apple routers as an experiment and did not experience this issue. Maybe it will get fixed in 10.10.1.

  • Problems after recent update?

My phone updated a month or so ago and since then I have been having some new issues with my phone.  First, the phone only gives an audible alert when I receive text messages once in a while. Other times it will be half the notification sound will go, and the rest of the time there will be nothing.
Second, the auto correct doesn't work the way it used to. It will have a suggested word but it won't auto fill it for me, I have to stop and select the word from the suggestion bar.
Any one else notice similar things?
