Airport Base & Config. & DHCP problems!  No automatic configuration?!?

Hello,
I've connected successfully, countless times to my Airport wireless network
with my two machines. After reinstalling the software on one of them, neither of them will now connect.
Read knowledge docs, reset base station, made sure I had updated the relevant irmware & software, etc.
I am able to connect successfuly & directly to my ethernet port but not to my airport station.
Using Airport Admin Utility, I choose configure>ethernet>configure using DHCP.
Normally, I thought that the IP Address.Router Address, etc. would all automatically configure "by itself" the way it does when I plug the ethernet cable directly into my ethernet port <-> cable modem.
By the way, I'm using a cable modem and Comcast and Airport Extreme Base station. I've test both of these things to rule out the problem being there. I've also tried restarting computer, unplugging and plugging back in base station. (I am able to have a working USB printer in which I can send MS word files to the printer (via airport base) to be printed out).
My guess is it's a problem between my powerbook and the airport base station but I'll be damned if I can figure out the problem.
Any insight, greatly appreciated, and you'll save me from jumping out my window or running into traffic.
Thanks!
JC

Well, I tried Tesserax's set of suggestions and they worked!

  • Airport Base Station DHCP WAN LAN Settings

    Hello,
I would like to set up an airport base station which will distribute IPs via DHCP. I am assuming that, if I plug the base station into an existing network via the WAN port, IP addresses will only be distributed to clients which connect to the base station via wireless and branched connectivity via the LAN port. Is this correct? I want to make sure that any clients "up the WAN tree", so to speak, will not accidentally receive IPs broadcasted from this station. My interpretation is that connectivity via the WAN port is a one-way, incoming based transaction only.
    Thanks,
    -Jim

That's correct. DHCP will only be handed out to LAN clients, not up the WAN connection.

  • No configured Airport Base Stations Have Been found-but we are connected?

    Okay,
Here is an odd one...actiontec DSL Modem/Router with Airport Extreme. I applied the update, and was having problems with my external hard drive being recognized, so I reset everything-modem and airport. Now that I have, when I launch the Airport Utility, I get a message that no configured airport base stations have been found. Weird thing is I am connected, transfering files, etc. I just cant access my airport to set up my printer and time machine capsule...any suggestions?

My Mac was working perfectly fine till about a week ago.It would not connect to the internet or anything.I  swapped my computer out clean and still nothing so i gave up since I am new to the Mac. The next morning i turned it on and it worked perfectly fine. That night it started disconnecting me from the web every 5-10 mins but the funny thing was it kept saying i was connected to the internet. I have to keep turning off and back on my Wi-fi for it to work right & even doing that does not solve the problem. I went to my time machine to try to system restore my computer to an earlier date and it does not work. The airport utility comes up and says no configured airport base stations have been found.Airport utility will continue searching. I have no clue what Airport Utility even is when i got my computer furnished threw the college I was going threw at the time everything was already set up on it. The Wi-fi connected instantly. I have a MacBook Pro (OSX) with this software OS Lion. I don't have the money to get it professionally fixed so trying fix this issue on my own. Would a factory reset solve the problem?.

  • No configured airport base stations have been found

I just purchased a new Time Capsule and tried to set it up according to the included instructions. After the initial set up Airport Utility give the following error message: "No configured AirPort base stations have been found. The only way I can connect to the Internet is wirelessly with a Verizon MiFi wireless modem. Could this be the problem? If so, is there a way to configure the TimeCapsule as a backup only drive?

I think.. you will get nowhere fast using v6 utility.. you must use the older utility.. 5.6.
Apple have so dumbed down v6 as to make it useless.
There are plenty of posts about how to install 5.6 under ML. I don't think it is that hard.
Download the 5.6 dmg.. open the pkg.. then extract the files from the pkg.
There is a free utility to do this.. as well as shareware Pacifist.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Simply load the files manually and then run it..
I am about to try it myself but confess it has not yet happened.
Make sure the TC is different IP range to the main router..
Set static IP in the computer and it must work. By all the TCP/IP I have ever learned it has to be available to the computer.. but I will test myself.

  • Problem connection between airport bases

    Hello everyone
I would like to ask a question if someone could give me a solution if it exists
I own four bases airport installed in a three-story house in this way:
Airport Extreme configured as "creates wireless network" on the third floor
Airport Express (Express1) configured as "access to the wireless network" always on the third floor
Airport Express (Express2) configured as "extend wireless network" on the second floor
Airport Express (Express3) configured as "extend wireless network" on the first floor.
All airport bases are updated to firmware 7.6.4
Occasionally the network configuration changes, and when it's like in "Fig 1", the wireless network signal on the first floor is very weak, and when the configuration is as in "Fig 2" signal on the first floor is at maximum capacity and will takes for all the floor.
I already tried to change the radio channel, to enter ip fixed on airport express but without resolving anything.
    Do you have ideas about?

It's OK if Express 3 gets a signal from Express 2, as long as it gets a significantly stronger signal from the AirPort Extreme than it does from Express 2.
Yes, I over exaggerated the situation..
My problem is in the middle of a repair where I have an old TC connected by wireless in extend mode to my main TC in the next room is the rest of the network on extend then goes haywire.. so I have seen the effect.. and it seems difficult to stop it although you did find an improvement in selecting a particular unit to extend..
I need to get over my laziness btw and run ethernet to the places that have so far missed out.. there is only one area.. but it means going right around via the ceiling or right through bottom and up double storey outside wall.. I had the whole house wired 10base2 from 1994 and it worked great.. so easy to simply put another outlet into the single run of coax.. and it seemed super fast back then.. Move on 20 years.. and doing it all again in Cat6 doesn't thrill so much. It is also against certain rules in Australia.. shhh . You cannot do your own data cabling.. !! Such is the state we live in.. !! Of course all my data cabling was installed before the law changed.. You can tell because I wrote the date on it .. 2006 just yesterday. This is called sarcasm btw.. !! Cat cable has a date on it.. and I keep a roll from 1993 for the job.. yuk yuk yuk.

  • HT1218 my time machine no longer appears in airport utility "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."

my time machine no longer appears in airport utility "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."

Basic troubleshooting: start with a "hard reset" - hold its reset button depressed continuously, about five seconds, until your TC's LED flashes rapidly. After a moment or two it will flash amber, slowly. You will then need to reconfigure it using AirPort Utility.
This does not affect your Time Machine backups.
If its LED remains illuminated amber without blinking after several minutes, it may have a problem you will be unable to fix. In that event, try another "hard reset".

  • HT1178 No config Airport base station in airport utility

Having problems configuring Airport Time Capsule. AirPort Utility displaying No configured AirPort base stations found.
Worked initially but no longer backing up.

Try just a simple restart of the TC or restart of the network.. in order .. modem.. wait 2min.. TC.. wait 2min . then the client computer.. see if the TC reappears. if not you will need to do a hard or factory reset and start over. It is common enough on Mavericks to lose its marbles.. a good reboot will usually remind of it of where everything is.
Make sure ipv6 is set to link-local for whatever network client is being used.. that means setup in the computer.
And I do recommend using short names on the TC.. not apple names..
Keep names to <20characters.. <10 even better.
    No spaces.. and pure alphanumeric.

  • "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."  I can see the content of the TimeCapsule's drive in finder and Time Machine but it no longer is making backups. Ideas?

Bought new TimeCapsule March 2013. Worked fine. Now get "No configured AirPort base stations have been found."  I can see the content of the TimeCapsule's drive in finder and Time Machine but it no longer is making backups. Ideas?

Make sure that you have AirPort Utility 6.3.1 installed on your Mac.
AirPort Utility 6.3.1 for Mac - Support - Apple
Then, power off the entire network...all devices...in any order that you want
Wait a minute, then start the modem first and let it run a full minute
Start the next device connected to the modem, which may be your Time Capsule and let it run a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time the same way until the entire network is back up
See if AirPort Utility can "see" the Time Capsule now.
If yes, try another backup. If you encounter an error message, post back with the exact message.

  • What does No configured airport base mean

I am desperatly trying to add a TC to my wireless system. I am using a iMac (2 yrs old). Everyting in house is wireless. My Mac Air, etc. We have uVerse so all I want TC to do is be used as a BU. I have plugged TC into power and amber light is blinking. I have downloaded Airport Utility 6.2 for a Mac. When I hit TC icon at top. a screen comes up shows green light for i nternet but the says "No configured airport base has been found". Why is this so difficult?

There is no TC icon on the top of the screen. There is a Time Machine icon.. they are entirely different. Time Machine (TM) is the backup software in your computer. It is not connected in any way to Time Capsule.
TC is Time Capsule.. it is a network device. You are not connected to it, because you haven't directly connected to it by ethernet.
If you want to connect to its wireless and setup over wireless .. not IMHO the best way but possible.. go to the airport symbol on the Mac.. Go to join other networks.. and locate the wireless from the TC and join it. At the present time it is joined to the uverse router.. you cannot see the TC because you have no connection to it.
Please follow the clear instructions I gave already in the other thread. Plug it in by ethernet is the way to do this.. in complete isolation to the rest of the network.

My iMac cannot connect to my TP-LINK TD-W8970 router even though all other computers can. I get the message "No configured AirPort base stations have been found" and "No PPPoE configurations were found". Any ideas please?

Open the Network pane in System Preferences. If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner, click it and enter your administrator login password when prompted.
At the bottom of the service list on the left is a popup menu with a gear icon. From that menu, select
              Set Service Order...
A sheet will drop down showing all listed services. Drag the one that you want to use to connect to the Internet to the top of the list. Click OK to close the sheet, then close the preference pane and confirm when prompted to save the change.

  • Having problems with one computer not "seeing" the Airport base station.

    Aloha:
I have an Airport router hooked up to the internet via Cable. I have a laptop and G4 desktop talking to the the Airport Base Station via their respective Airport cards. This allows me to get to the internet with both of my computers. This system has worked just fine for several years, but recently my desktop computer has started to be unable to connect to my Airport Base Station. At first it was intermittent, but now it has stopped completely. The laptop continues to be able to get to the internet via my Airport base station.
The desktop is running OS 10.3.9 and the airport card in the desktop passes the hardware test that came with the laptop. But it can no longer see the signal from the ABS.
    What might my problem be?
    Dan

    Hi Clinton:
I have tried that to no avail. I don't see any
signal, so I see no networks "in the box below" to
choose. My airport card does not see a signal, but
the airport card checks out ok in the hardware test.
Thanks for replying, Clinton, much appreciated.
    Dan
Have you tried choosing "other..." and then entering the name of your network?

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

  • How to configure old AirPort Base Stations with current Mac

    Hi everyone,
I noticed that you can't use the current AirPort Utility to configure old AirPort Base Stations. I'm talking about the pre-Extreme models that only had 802.11b (Graphite and Snow). It won't find them and even entering their IP manually won't let you enter the configuration.
Copying over the older AirPort Admin Utility from a 10.3 system won't let you configure them either, the app itself runs fine though. You need to use an older PPC Mac with OS 9 or max OS X 10.3 if I recall correctly.
Is there a way to do it directly from a current Intel Mac running Leopard?
    Thanks

  • Problems setting up airport base station

I have been trying to setup my airport extreme base station to. When I did it the first time, all of my lights were green on the left except for internet and server. I changed some things and now my AEBS can not be detected when I start from airport utility.
    What do I do????

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.
