Airport blocking site?

I cannot access one website on any mac (Macbook pro, iMac and iPad)  on my network. I am using Airport Extreme. (Airport is connected to Cable modem by Ethernet and the rest access it wirelessley) I can access the site on my phone if I turn WiFi off. Hence the problem seems to be the Airport blocking the site. The site is http://vesap2.com/courses. Can anyone help?

I cannot access any site at vesap2.com including http://vesap2.com/Courses/login/index.php. I tried various other ways also.  I can remote login with Remote Desktop to my windows pc at work and can access them. I spoke with support at vesap2 and we narrowed it to the router somehow blocking the site.

  • Airport blocking sites from me

got a strange problem. my airport is blocking some sites from me. i can reach the sites if i type in the server number, but if i enter it as alpha characters i get nothing. thought it was my hosting service, then my isp. once i disconnected airport and connected directly into the modem it all worked (and at a fast speed too). i've downloaded airport admin utility 4.2 (i'm running osx 10.5.2) and an old snow single ethernet port airport.
any clues on how i clear the dns records (or whatever) out of my airport so it doesn't block sites and slow things down for me?

Now how do I "ensure that the DNS server settings ... are equal to the ones used in the Ethernet section of my network preferences?"
If your Internet service provider (ISP) provides your IP address via DHCP, or if you choose your IP address manually, the DNS server settings for the base station are at AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow > (select base station) > Configure > (enter base station password) > Internet > "Connect Using: Ethernet" > "DNS servers:"
If your ISP provides your IP address via PPPoE, the DNS server settings for the base station are at AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow > (select base station) > Configure > (enter base station password) > Internet > "Connect Using: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)" > "DNS servers:"
The DNS server settings for the Mac are at System Preferences > Network > "Show: Built-in Ethernet" > "TCP/IP" > "DNS Servers:" (Caveat: I use OS 10.4, so if there is a relevant difference in OS 10.5, I apologize.)
Each of the DNS servers entered in these fields, if any, is represented by four numbers separated by dots. Since the settings on the Mac when it is wired to the modem seem to have no DNS problems, I expect that you could add, delete or change the ones in AirPort Admin Utility to match those.
Is there some sort of AirPort preference that I should trash? or repair permissions? Or some DNS memory that needs to get flushed?
Good question. I don't know all the places where DNS data are cached. I doubt that the base station itself collects any DNS hostname data, especially none that it retains if it has been powered down. If its DNS server settings are corrupted, I suppose that a hard reset of the base station should fix that. See Resetting the AirPort Base Station (Dual Ethernet).
One more question. As I open up AirPort Admin Utility 4.2.5 it tells me "A newer version (4.0.9) of base station software is available. Click upload to install it now." Should I do that? Will it work with my older base station and newer OS X?
    Yes.

  • Time Capsule needlessly blocking sites.

Hello, I came home this morning to find my first gen Time Capsule (1TB) had turned into a brick overnight.  So I take it to the Apple Store and naturally they refused to fix it.  Five hundered dollars later I bring home my new 3TB Time Capsule, hook it up and it's running in no time.
But it's blocking all soscial networking, blog, or technological websites.  I'm having to write this on my MacBook Pro because the Time Capsule hooked up to my Mac Pro is blocking Apple's site because it says the administrator (me) doesn't want anyone accessing 'technology' websites.  Facebook and Twitter are also inaccessable.  Not that I'm a big social networker, but this is BS.  It's MY network, I should be able to do whatever I want.
Went to Airport Utility and checked and double checked that I have the latest firmware.  So newest firmware, newest Time Capsule.  Blocked sites.  Firewall is for sure turned off.  Already deleted the network and started a new one.  Problem persists.
    Any ideas?

The AirPorts or Time Capsules do NOT have a means to block individual websites. Do you use a DNS service like OpenDNS? These types of service do provide you a means to block websites.

  • Airport blocking connections to server

Working with OS X Lion Server, AirPort Express and Extreme.
Local connections work fine to the server when a MacBook is plugged directly into the wall, when it goes through an AirPort in the same wall socket we can't even ping the server. Is the AirPort blocking the connection? If so, how can it be unblocked.
    Thanks

  • The list of blocked sites is empty.

Have used Firefox for years. There should be a healthy list of blocked sites (exceptions to cookies).
Privacy: always use private browsing mode - ticked
Accept cookies from sites - ticked
Accept third party cookies - always
Exceptions - shows as blank (no sites listed)
Cookies (only Google, coz I'm using it - I always clear out after session).
Reason for question: wanted to check that I hadn't got a site blocked, as this site repeatedly times out - I can't respond quickly enough to the ALLOW button when I get the "Firefox prevented ...." message.
    Help!

Current Firefox versions do not show the Cookies in the Cookie Manager when you are in (permanent) Private Browsing mode.<br />
In Private Browsing mode all cookies are session cookies that expire at the end of the session (all PB mode windows closed) or when you exit Firefox.
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Site Preferences
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • Safari will not work due to blocked site

I am trying to use my Safari browser a blocked site keeps showing up...genio.com???

The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

  • Block Site 1.1.8 is not blocking websites entered into Blacklist

I am using Firefox 31.0 on a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I added an add-on called Block Site because I keep getting these very aggravating windows opening that I haven't visited and don't want to see such as adcash.com and gacetainformativa.com. Block Site seemed pretty easy to use and I entered these website into the Blacklist. The websites continued to show up. So I entered them again leaving off the first and last letters and putting in asterisks for wildcards. They are still showing up as full screens. I will get 3 to 5 of these websites opening at one time and for no apparent reason. Does anyone have suggestions for what I need to do to block these unwanted sites? Thanks for your help.

  • Blocking sites on the Mac

hey. how can I block certain sites from my mac? im trying to ween my sister off her fanfic obsession and I don't want any of it on my mac. any easy ways to block sites?

If you own the Mac (ie, you are effectively the administrator), and your sister has another, standard, user account, you can use Parental Controls to block access to certain sites.

  • Every time I've tried to open my hotmail today, an H&R Block site pops up trying to get me to buy their tax prep software and I can't find a way around it. This is driving me crazy. Please help.

Every time I've tried to open my hot mail today the page is usurped by H&R Block, trying to get me to buy their tax prep software and I don't see a way to close it out.

No, it doesn't come up in any other browser. The interesting thing this morning was I had inadvertently doubleclicked my hotmail icon and two windows came up, one over the other. The first one had the H&R Block site that is driving me crazy, which I closed, but the second one had my dear old emails without the dreaded H&R Block takeover. I haven't been able to send a picture of the page, but it looks like an H&R Block web site and lists the various tax prep software and prices. You can navigate all around the site, too.

  • Firefox won't auto update or manually update, Opendns is blocking sites

Open dns blocks sites such as Victoria's secret and an art studio I want to go to for nudity, lol. I don't remember loading it onto my computer and I don't have admin access to Open dns. So I can't uninstall or unblock sites. Also I get a message that Firefox could not update. I have the latest version of Firefox.

I don't have an administrator, so I don't know who to ask. I contacted OpenDNS and they replied: You have a Netgear router on your network with Live Parental Controls enabled.
Please go to https://netgear.opendns.com/sign_in.php to change your Live Parental Controls settings.
Afterward, flush your web browser caches and DNS resolver caches.

I'm going to try and see if that helps.

  • Limit on Blocking Sites

I have an EA6300 router.  I have come across a problem with the limit of blocking sites.  So, I have 4 kids who like to use the computer to surf the internet.  Typically, stuff kids like to do. I have 2 dedicated computers for the kids to use in my house.  One main computer they like to use, I manage with Parental Control to block sites.  Unfortunately, the limit is 10 sites that I can block.   I need the ability to block more than 10 sites on one managed computer.  I can block the main sites, Youtube, Twitter, etc.. but I can't ignore the other sites.  The point of managing this computer is to make sure they don't go to inappropiate sites and social media sites.  As my kids come across more sites, I can't control it if I am limited to 10 sites.
The point of having this type of router is to "manage" the computers they use.  Again, when I speak of "manage", I am speaking of having some sense of control over which sites are good and which sites are bad.  I am trying to allow the good sites and not allowing the bad sites.  I don't want to install some sort of "firewall" or parental type software in order to make up for the limitation of block sites.
Has anyone come across this problem before on the EA routers?  Is there anyway around this 10 limit block?

I think it is a very poor design flaw on the part of Cisco or Linksys to restrict ONLY 10 sites per computer.  It is my part as a parent to monitor website activity at home.  Just like every parent should do.  I think the Smart WIFI routers are good but this limitation sucks.  I should NOT have to use 3rd party software to monitor and restrict website activity.
