Airport can't see my router on my Cube only!

Forgive me for re-posting this thread. My original title doesn't flag up my problem. Originally posted under 'Airport status bar greyed out.
I have two G4 PowerBooks, a G4 Cube and a PlayStation 3 all connected wirelessly to my BTBOYAGER 2091 router. Yesterday my G4 Cube awoke from sleep and the AirPort status bar appeared greyed out. I was able to re-establish the wireless link a couple of times via Network Diagnostics, but now the AirPort card fails to recognise the router. The other two PowerBooks and the Playstation 3 recognise the router and all work fine. I have tried deleting the SystemConfiguration folder and re-booting, repairing permissions and deleting the router keychain, but nothing restores AirPort or Network settings and let's it 'see' the router. I have the Cube connected to the internet via the ethernet link to the router and I have access to the internet. From Network Diagnostics I get the following report on screen: -
Network Status
AirPort - green light
AirPort Settings - red light (Failed)
Network settings - red light (Failed)
ISP - green light
Internet - green light
Server - green light
I have searched through the forums and can't find a thread, so I thought I would post my problem and ask if someone can help me restore my AirPort and Network settings, if indeed that is the problem. I have a screenshot of the Network, Network Diagnostics and AirPort windows showing the problem visually. I can email the screenshot on request.
I would be grateful for any help and hope that I have posted this correctly.
With thanks

Thanks for replying to my problem. Since posting my original thread, the Cube's AirPort status bar has re-appeared for no apparent reason on about 4 occasions. Each time I put the Cube to sleep and re-awakened it, the status bar again greyed out each time. This morning after awakening the status bar became visible after a couple of minutes. I immediately checked the DHCP table in my router's software configuration manager. The AirPort card and Ethernet's, MAC and IP addresses were both listed. I left the Cube running for about 20 minutes, put it to sleep, awakened it and the status bar was (is) greyed out once again. Armed with the IP address I tried configuring the TCP/IP settings manually (I entered the IP address displayed by the router for the AirPort card) but unfortunately I am back to square one. I am considering de-fragmenting my drive using TechTool Pro 4 and then rebuilding my directories using DiskWarrior. I have to optimize the drive since DiskWarrior reports that my HD doesn't have enough contiguous space. I have a small 20GB LaCie drive on which I will install TechTool Pro and optimize it from there. I was going to create an e-drive partition, but the program was de-fragging space for the e-drive to occupy and it was taking hours to do it. I hope that optimizing from the LaCie works. If all else fails I will wipe the HD and re-install everything. I don't want to do this but I might not have any choice. I still hope that someone might come up with a solution.

  • G4 (MDD) with AirPort Can't See/Won't Connect to Wireless Networks

Hi all. I've seen topics/threads that get close to my question/problem, but not quite.
    I inherited a PowerMac G4 (MDD)/Dual 1 GHz/1.5 GB DDR SDRAM/running 10.3.9.
I purchased a used original AirPort card from eBay, opened up the machine, and plugged it in. When I went to update the software (from a CD), my machine told me that it was up to date (though one HD is running OS9 and one running OSX -- so the software wouldn't install because the HD running OSX said it was up-to-date and the HD running 9 said it was impossible). The machine recognizes the card/shows it gray in the toolbar/says it has Firmware Version 8.70 in the System Profile.
My problem is that the AirPort can't see any wireless networks 99% of the time, even though 3 (including mine) are in range all the time. I've seen my network only flicker into possibility a few times, and even though I've disabled all security measures on the wireless router (Linksys Wireless-G, Model WRT54G), it simply won't connect. One time in 3 hours it momentarily looked like it was going to connect, then said "out of range," then disappeared completely. It has seen 0 wireless networks for the past hour.
I've read everything far and wide trying to solve this issue and am totally stuck. At first I thought I needed an antenna for the AirPort, but this is an internal card, so that doesn't seem right. I know the AirPort card (and not Extreme) is right because a) I don't have a FW800 port and b) the machine recognizes this card. Finally, I thought it may have had to do with the WPA security on the Linksys, but even with security disabled...nothing.
I'm feeling very frustrated. Any advice?
    Thank you very much.

Thanks, Tom. I did as you suggested, and the Max Signal under the Log is showing a red 12, which is terrible, yes? What, exactly, does this tell me? That this is simply a case of old technology (AirPort b) struggling to communicate with new technology (Linksys g) over a medium distance (Linksys is in next room, through wall)? If plugging straight into the ethernet were an option, I'd just do it. But I can't get my G4 onto the Internet without running cords down the hallway and through my TV room, which is an obvious eyesore.
Is there a chance this AirPort card is only partly functional and I should return it? Or do I need to accept the fact that this G4 needs to either be moved closer to the Linksys router or be plugged in directly?
    Thank you.

Not all content types are available in all countries - in each country Apple can only sell what they are licensed to (and in some cases what a country's laws allows them to). A list of what is available where is shown on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599

  • Can't see what I typed on screen (only on inspector)'

    2nd post on this problem:
Tried different themes and the same thing - screen is white.  Can see text boxs initially.  When I type something, I can't see it on the screen.  Only in the inspector - as I would imagine it would look like from the theme options.
Tried changing font size and color and no luck.  It almost seems like it is a button that is causing a white background, taking over the theme color and theme itself.
Anyone have any ideas?? Can't use as it is now.
    Thanks

Is the font the same colour as the background?  Do you have a missing font?  Is the font size sufficient?  Is the text behind other objects?  They're the 4 things I'd be checking...  You can do this by changing the font size/colour/typeface/priority (bring to front).
    Hope this helps.

  • Cube airport can't see my network

Hi. I have a Cube that I am trying to get up and running but I can't get the Airport card to see my wireless network. I know the Cube has an airport card installed because when I do a System Profiler I get the following:
    Wireless Card Type: AirPort
    Wireless Card Locale: USA
    Wireless Card Firmware Version: 9.52
Current Wireless Network: wireless network not available
My base station is an Airport Extreme 802.11b/g compatible with security set to "None". It shows up just fine on my other computers but when I look for networks on the Cube it just says "No networks within range". I have tried everything I know to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hey, never mind. I swapped out the airport card for another one and it worked. Apparently it was a hardware issue with the card itself.

  • HELP - moved iMac to college - airport can't  "see"  wireless network

I am a relatively new mac user and therefore, pretty clueless as to what's wrong/how to fix it.
At home, it picked up our secure network right away.
I moved it to college (University of Maryland) and the airport can't pick up ANYTHING, but my windows laptop picked up the network right away.
No clue what the problem is....any insights would be HUGELY appreciated.
    Wireless card type: AirPort Extreme
    Firmware version: 405.1 (3.90.34.0.p18)

    Hello Madimad!
I assume you have tried the basics:
    1. Click on Airport Icon and make sure it's actually ON
    2. Click on Airport Icon and Click on Other > see if the network you are trying to connect with is listed, if not try typing it in...
You can also go to System Prefs > Network > Location: Automatic and Show: Network Status... let us know what it says
    Good luck, Rick

  • Telnet can't figure out route to host, but only on certain ports?

This only occurs under 10.5. In 10.4.11, I can hit the server on both ports through telnet.
    telnet <server> 510
    Trying <server>...
telnet: connect to address <server>: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host
    telnet <server> 80
    Trying <server>...
    Connected to <server>.
    Escape character is '^]'.

    <html><head><title></title></head>
    <body>
    fetch: 0
    </body></html>
    Connection closed by foreign host.
    Here's the strangest part:
    ping <server>
PING <server> (ip): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto: No route to host
    ^C
    --- <server> ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
How come it can figure out the route when using port 80, but not when using port 510? And is the inability to figure out the route the reason why Wireshark shows ZERO outgoing packets on port 510 when it fails to connect?
And why only on certain IPs? If I use "edu.yorku.ca", I can connect via telnet on both 80 and 510.

    orangekay wrote:
So it works if you supply a FQDN but not an IP? Are you certain that the IP you're using is valid? There may be some DNS trickery going on behind the scenes.
No, it only connects when I hit the server on port 80. Using IP or FQDN doesn't seem to make a difference.
If I try to use Network Utils to do a trace route, it too says no route to host.
I've got a G4/ppc running 10.4.11 attached to the same router, and it has no issue hitting the server on any port, and can do a trace route as well.

  • SpeedGrade CC 2014 Can't see videos on the color window, only black

I'm just starting with the software and since I started I can't see the footage, I imported a sequence and there is nothing on the screen, I'm not sure if it's a problem on preferences that I have it wrong or what..
    Please, Help.

That could be the problem, I'm not using a graphic card and the resolution is 1920x1080 by 23.976 fps in fact when I play the video the little symbol of pc turns red
How do I change the settings so I can work? and when I use a different frame rate I need to change it on the preferences or it automatically set it?

  • Can't see body of text in emails only headers...why?

Can not see body of the email. Recent updates to mail server, and now I can only see header message. Why?

Quit the mail app, launch the app again and then look to see if the messages appear, if not - quit the mail app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps.
Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, reset your iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Were can i see the size of ur cube

    Hi
were can see the size of the infocube

    hi
we cannot directly see the size of the info cube but we can calculate the size of the info cube.using this information
Each keyfiure occupies 10 Bytes of memory
Each Char occupies 6 Bytes of memory
So in an Infocube the maximum number of fields are 256 out of which 233 keyfigure, 16 Dimesions and 6 special char.
So The maximum capacity of a cube
    = 233(Key figure)10 + 16(Characteristics)6 + 6(Sp.Char)*6
    Hope this will be helpful
In general InfoCube size should not exceed 100 GB of data.

  • Airport Express can't see Linksys router

Hi, I'm getting nowhere trying to get my Airport Express to find my Linksys E2000 router and I hope someone here can help.
The E2000 is connected to the internet and both laptops in the house, an iphone and an Android phone can all use it successfully. I have a 1 month old Airport Express which I'd like to use to stream music. Until today I've been using the Express as the wireless router without problems so I know it can be used in that capacity. In the Airport Utility, the Express is found but after setting the Wireless Mode to 'Join a wireless network', the droplist of visible networks does not include the E2000's secured network. Curiously, the unsecured guest network created by the E2000 can be seen. The network which can't be seen is secured with WPA2-PSK. I've tried disabling the firewall on the E2000 but this had no effect.
Has anyone else come across anything similar with the Linksys routers or similar? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It won't come up up in Airport Admin Utility. To configure the router launch a browser. Typically Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1 as the admin address for their routers. Once there, use admin as the password to gain access. If it won't let you in you will need to reset the router to factory default settings. Check the Linksys web site for the router manual.

  • Utility Airport can't see Airport Express on my MacPro, although the same AE operates properly with a MacBook Pro

I've unsuccefully spend almost three days on the web to find the solution to a particular problem.
The configuration  I'm running is as follow:
    - one Airport Express attached to the Orange box to communicate through internet
    - one printer attached to the AE through USB
    Two Mac :
    - one MacBook Pro : it operates with no problem using the AE and the printer, internet is fine since I write this message with that Apple. The two machines may operate simultaneously under different or identical softwares.
    - one Macpro : two points:
         * the Airport utility does not see the Airport Express, but the AE logo is fully active on the computer and I can read information with Preferences/Network.
         * the Network diagnostic, launched from the MacPro, yields GREEN from Airport to FAI included steps ( green LED), but fails at the Internet step (red LED)
The computers are in the same bench, the AE being at 2 meter distance with no shield in between.
The Orange box is proved fine since all the internet communications are OK when I use the MacBook Pro . The phone is fine as well.
There are no other WiFi in the neighbourg.
The problem occured on Sunday evening for an unclear reason, while I was trying to connect a window XP based PC to link to the printer using the same wireless network ( I miserably fail as well, although the PC sees the Airport Express, but no way to connect to the printer : this is another issue )
The full network is running permanently for a couple of years with no issue, no fault, no reset, no slow down, just fine !
Both machines use the same OSX 10.6.8.
Information system returns the same data when reading the Airport network file.
Of course, the Airport Express yields solid Green light .
I've already checked the trouble shoot procedures as recommended by Apple with no success.
Well, this is a major issue since I do need my MacPro to handle work that must go through the internet.
Any advise and/or recommendation will be highly appreciated.
    Michael

    Hello,
Finally, I solve the issue by re loading the mDNSResponder which has been deactivated for an unknown reason. The system is back to normal operation.Thank so much to the Krypted.com site to provide the appropriate command to handle theplist file.

  • Airport can't connect to Router

I have a 2wire wireless router from AT&T , I am having trouble staying connected. I can setup the SSID and password connect and it will work fine , the next time I try to connect I get an error, I have to change the ssid and password on the router to connect again. What am I doing wrong, is there a fix?

Hello Dakine07...Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    Let's double-check your AirPort settings...
To setup AirPort for High-Speed Cable Internet connectivity:
System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Port Configurations
    - Verify that an AirPort option exists. If it does not, click "New" to create one. - Verify that AirPort is "On" (checked)
    - Verify that AirPort is at the top of the list. If it isn't, you can drag it to the top.
Systems Preferences > Network > Show > AirPort
    AirPort tab
    - By default, join: Automatic
    TCP/IP tab
    - Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    - Configure IPv6: Automatically or Off
    Proxies tab
    - Configure Proxies: Manually
    - Select a proxy server to configure: <All proxies should be unchecked unless you specifically require a proxy for Internet access.>
    - Exclude simple hostnames (unchecked)
    - Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains: <leave blank>
    - Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV) (checked)
