AirPort Cannot Connect To Net

So I just switched to SBC Global (DSL) and since that time I cannot get my AirPort to work anymore. I can connect to the net with I am plugged in directly to the modem, but cannot get an IP when I plug the ethernet cable into the AirPort.
Suggestions?

Still having issues.
I have tried to put in a manual IP address into my AirPort Utility. No go.
SBC says they do not support AirPort problems, and I would have to call Apple, but the number they gave me doesn't seem to work (800.500.7870).
I have read a bunch of threads on issues like this, but they all seem to be unique in nature. The thread I have found that best resembles my issue is this one:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5418540&#5418540
but, I have tried the things in here and I still cannot connect (specifically the IP address issue in this thread seems to be one I am having).
Please help.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • Cannot get Airport to connect to net.. but ethernet works fine

I was trying to install an Airport Express and failed in great style.
How ever I have removed the airport from use and now use just modem\ router again.
but I have tried resetting airport settings .. as it now assigns a self IP address of 169.15.*. instead of 10.1.1.* .
I try adding the DNS as 10.1.1.1 (as on my partners iMac) and all the settings.. but it still wont connect to my network (well it connects but i cant use the net)
but when i plug in ethernet.. works great....
Have tried removing airport, adding dns address, manually adding details and that but still cant get my wireless cnnection working again (it did work until i attempted to install the airport express, but yea now airport card doesnt work.

Any resolution on this Paul? Today I began with the same problem. My Macbook Pro on S.L. has been working great wirelessly. Now, it connects to my router and gets an ip address. But no internet. However, when I plug it into the router with a cable, I'm on in no time.
I have logged into my router and cleared all the ip addresses and even reset it to factory settings. I've deleted my networks from my system prefs as well.
Right now I'm running it hardwired to a Linksys router running dd-wrt- which is as close to wireless as I could come up with in a pinch.
What did you do? Or does anyone else have ideas?

  • Cannot connect to net at my home...

But everywhere else it seems to work.
My neighbor came over and connected with his Macbook, no problems, all 3 of my other wireless laptops connect with no problem?
Spent 3 hours with Apple, they cant figure it out.
Spent a couple of hours with my ISP they cant figure it out.
I've had it with this whole Apple experience so far.

What version MacBook Pro do you have?
Can you connect with an ethernet cable to your router and get on the net that way? if so, have you run Apple software update?
I assume from your wireless connection, you cannot then see your network (SSID) from the Airport menu. (Or can you?)
Is your network encrypted? If so, are you putting in the right key and specifying the proper method such as wep or wpa?
Have you gone into the network control panel and checked to make sure Airport is activated?

  • 2 of 3 computers connected to the airport cannot connect to the internet

I have an airport extreme that is connected to the cable modem, and is set to distribute IP addresses using a single 10.0.1.1 etc.
All three computers, a ppc mac mini, a 12" powerbook, and the intel iMac are connected to the base station, and that is their only connection. the pb and the mini cannot access the internet through the airport, but they are assigned IP addresses, 10.0.1.2 and 10.0.1.3.
the intel mac has more info displayed than the airport, a real IP address, 216.195.... a different subnet, and a router #.
I am afraid to change the settings that I might lose the connection to online support on the intel mac, but am totally confused as to why it would have a different IP address than it is told to have by the aebs. I need to get all these computers online today.
I am also trying to connect a new epson aculaser cx11nf printer through the ethernet port in the aebs, and it is not acknowledging anything in the port. but that's another story, and i'll likely call epson for help later, but just in case someone thinks it's related.
    Thanks in advance.

Mary, Welcome to the discussion area!
From the information your provided, it is clear that your Intel Mac is not connected to your AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS). It is connected to a neighbor's wireless network.
On the Intel Mac, go to the AirPort menu and select the name of your wireless network. Hopefully you gave the network a unique name.
Ensure that you have the cable modem connected to the AEBS's WAN port.
Power off the cable modem whenever you switch the Ethernet connection. This causes the cable modem to forget the device it was talking to. When the cable modem is turned back on, it will find the new device to talk to.

  • Airport Utility and Airport cannot connect

    Hi,
I just installed a new Airport Extreme. I also installed the software that came with the Airport. The internet works great. The problem that I'm having is that the Utility is not connecting with the Airport. When I click on the Airport on left hand side of the utility, the utility tries to connect, but I get the following error- An error occurred while reading the configuration. I've tried reinstalling the software to no avail.
As I mentioned, the internet works great and I am within the range. I'm actually sitting right next to Airport.
I also just installed Snow Leopard.
    Thank you,
    CT

What is the exact problem you are having?

  • Airport cannot connect to ethernet

We just had Charter internet service installed and this will not work with AirPort Express (we have 2 units- one is brand new and neither will work). We just get the amber light and the AirPort Express units do not recognize the Charter service (ethernet DOES work when I directly plug into my Mac). Any idea how to get the AirPort to recognize Charter's service?

... the AirPort Express units do not recognize the Charter service (ethernet DOES work when I directly plug into my Mac).
Whenever you change what is attached to Charter's modem, unplug the modem and let it reset for a moment or two. Disconnecting the Ethernet cable from the Express and connecting it to the Mac without powering down the modem will confuse it.

  • LocationFree cannot connect through NET AV

Hi. I just recently purchased the lf-v30. I have done everything described in the support PDF in regards to port forwarding yet can't pass the NetAV test to enable me to watch tv over the internet. I shouldn't have had to even bother with that as my router supports upnp but for some reaon that setup won't work either no matter what I do.
Please help me, I'd like to be able to justify this purchase.

Yea, I'd like to see some suggestions on this issue as well. I have another post describing my problem and situation, but bumped this post to the top since it seems to mirror my sentiments. I have try NUMEROUS things and nothing seems to work. It works great within my home network, but the NetAV check feature (for access outside my home) has never passed yet for my LF-PK1. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Airport will connect to network but not internet

    Hi,
My MacBook air started out working beautifully on my wireless network-high download speeds, solid connection, etc... After about six hours of operation however, it has stopped being able to find the internet consistently, no matter what wireless network I try. I use a NetGear wireless hub in my room, and my laptop is able to consistently find and connect to the network (the hub is only about 3 feet away) but it cannot connect to the internet. Under network settings I get the message "Airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet" or "Airport cannot connect to the internet." I know that the internet is working, because the network works fine for my MB Pro, iPhone, TiVo, and xBox 360. In fact, the MBA is occassionally able to find the internet and get an IP address. Sometimes this IP address allows me to load web pages extremely slow and sometimes I cannot even find google. The problem extends beyond my one network, however, as I have difficulty connecting to other wireless networks. I am on a college campus and sometimes can connect to the campus WiFi, but it again frequently connects without being able to figure out an IP address. Some help would be great.

I have a similar issue. Mine does the same thing, but only if in a specific area. If I'm sitting on my recliner with the Air on my lap, then it will connect, but I can't get to any sites. The browser just stalls.
If I move to the table that's 3 feet away from me, then the internet connects without any problems.
It could be a reception issue with me, or something. I don't know. At first it connected at very high speeds. That was before 10.5.2.
I don't know if the Leopard Update has anything to do with it, since my iMac doesn't have this problem at all. And that has an N card also.
I hope Apple is looking into this wireless issues.

  • Airport not connecting

Having a problem with my airport, cannot connect to the internet wirelessly. It is not a distance problem as a laptop sitting right next to it registers three out of five bars and works perfectly. Been having this problem for several months, at first the connection was just dropping off and not working on occasion but every softwear update since then seems to have made it worse and worse. Now my internet does not work at all although it seems to pick up the signal but not connect. Any help fixing this would be appreciated, have tried a number of fixes and been through every used every help tool for connection issues available in the network preferences menu. I have several other issues with this mac however I use it for work and cannot afford for it to be away for repair at the moment. My other issues include dead pixels, optical eye doesn't work (cannot read any type of disc, DVD, softwear disc, CD you name it) And some form of leakage on the top left hand side of the screen that cases a shadow on the display. Has anyone else had problems like this? I love this mac like a baby so its not a chase of rough handling or not looking after it properly. This is my first mac and I can honestly say I am very disappointed by the quality of the product after all the good things I've heard about apple.

    hi,
your problem is not with the airport, it is how you have configured it,you need to check system pref. and make sure you eleminate all security first, you can do this also in the internet connection app as well, this sounds like a firewall issue/

  • Airport dont connect to Internet anymore

Airport cannot connect via PPoE to Internet... out of the blue. Connection via Ethernet works fine. I think DHCP dont work.
Airport Base works still fine with Laptop and Printer, but cannot route to host.
Have no idear to fix it. Tried all so far:
    - reset Airport
    - new Network
    - reset DSL Modem
Happened a day after upgrade from DSL 2000 to 6000 and update Quicktime 7.1.1.
Anybody has an idear to solve my problem?

Have you read the thread "Loss of signal after restart following QT upgrade".
Bunyip (the OP) indicated the problem was solved by:
...download and install the latest Airport upgrade (I used AirPortSW42.dmg b/c I'm on MacOS 10.3.9). Then do HARD RESET on your base station or Airport Express and run Airport Setup Assistant to set up your base station as new.
The same solutions seems to have worked for cekulesh in the thread "Cannot connect to AirPort Extreme; after mac os security update?"

  • ITunes cannot connect to remote speakers / Airport Express

    Hi Guys
This is a quick post with a problem & solution.
I've been searching for ages tonight to find a solution to my problem:
'iTunes suddenly cannot connect to my Airport Express Speakers" and could not find one answer on here, only a mixture of replies all over the net.
So, just incase some people are still looking for an answer:
    What I did...
    1. Go to System Preferences, Network.
    2. Click Advanced, on the TCP/IP tab, set "Configure IPv6" to Off.
Open up Airport Utility, go to the Music tab, set a password (I did this just for the sake of seeing whether iTunes noticed that the Airport was now password protected, then atleast you know it's talking!)
    3. Open iTunes, go to preferences.
    4. Click on the devices tab, untick "Look for remote speakers connected with Airplay, Allow iTunes control from Remote Speakers, Forget All Remotes.
    5. Close iTunes
    6. Open iTunes, retick "Look for remote speakers connected with Airplay, Allow iTunes control from Remote Speakers, Forget All Remotes.
    7. Connect to remote speakers worked!

    thanks Simius,
I just tried what you said to do, i had it in Automatic, but when I momenterely switched to manual the fields were all blank so I left them that way and turned on to automatic as you said and left it in auto, then tried to change itunes speaker to remote airplay and it didn t work.
so i don t know what else to do, I read alot about this in the last few days the bug seems to be related to the newest itunes upgrade and with the presence of the IP6V not turned off completely.
in the old system one could turn it off completely, now the off button is gone.
there are work around using terminal, I tried that but it doens t recognize my commands, so it didn t work either.
    anybody has any idea?
    thansk a lot
