Airport Card don't appears

I've installed an Airport Card (2003 M8881LL/A) in my Power Mac G5 7,2 and it don't appears in the System-Profiler.
The OS is 10.5.8.

Open System Preferences>Network, see if new port detected pops up, or click on the little plus icon after unlocking the lock & see if you can add Airport.

  • My MacBook Airport card has never appeared.

I have a new MacBook. At no time has the airport card made its presence felt. In System Profiler, it says re Airport Card 'No information found'. On Network Port Configurations, Airport is grayed out so is unresponsive.
The MacBook is located adjacent to an active 802.11 Netgear router. An adjacent G5 desktop machine receives strong wireless signals from the same router. The MacBook is able to log onto the Web via a built-in ethernet link to the same router.
According to Apple, Airport is standard on this model, hence my confusion. What advice can you give me? Is there some straightforward set-up procedure that I can follow, to avoid having to return the MacBok to the supplier 130 miles away?
    Jonks.

If System Profiler is not showing the Card I fear it may have been jarred lose or just not connected during assembly. It's not like earlier ibooks etc. where you can get to it easily either. Sorry - I think you may have to bring it in.

  • My iMac Intel Duo & Airport Card Don't work...

I am a recent PC to Mac switcher. I have very little experience using Airport Cards, and quite a bit of experience netowrking in the PC world.
Here's my issue. I have my new iMac connected to my wireless network (D-Link 524 - 802.11g). I have tried using both static and dynamic ip. I use WEP 64-bit encryption.
My iMac has absolutely no problem connecting to the network, and obtaining an IP address. Problem is, it constantly disconnects itself, every couple of minutes or so.
I purchased a new super-antenna for the router, incase it was a signal issue. This certainly improved the signal strength, however, the mac keeps losing connection.
The router is situated within 30 feet of the mac, and only one wall - dry-wall, not concrete.
Any suggestions? I never have any issues with my Dell and Toshiba laptops.

You need the older airport utility.. that can be installed on Lion or Mountain Lion.. it cannot be installed on Mavericks.. do you have an older computer even a windows one.. or can access, borrow or bribe a friend over for drinks with laptop.. then you can configure your expresses.. !!
There is a rather complex workaround on Mavericks.. when I posted it in the past.. Apple deleted it.. go figure.
    Kappy's post is still there.

Do not re-install as it will be a waste of time. You can try SMC/ PRAM resets to start with and see if it works.
    SMC

    PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
If that does not work if your not scared to take the bottom case off do it, and see it the cable came unplugged. If it is not it could be bad MLB, Airport card, or flex cable.

  • Airport Card Can't Be Removed

    Hello!
I would like to pull the airport card out of my PowerBook G4 laptop.
There are two clear plastic square feet glued right in front of the wireless card which prevent me from pulling out the card. I can't find any card removal instructions that address these two plastic squares. It's like someone snuck these buggers into my computer or something.
    Please help!
    Thanks!

Haha, yah, far too many computer gnomes sneaking about around here...
I was afraid I was going to have to get a little medieval on my lappy and pry off those clear plastic squares. I just wanted to be sure first that they weren't there for a good reason or that there was some alternate way I was supposed to remove the airport card. It appears I'm just gunna have to pop the little warty things off and be done with them.

  • New Mac Mini doesn't recognize airport card

I have a new mac mini, leopard, 1.8G c2duo, and have finally resolved some display issues. Now it doesn't recognize my airport card. Ideas?

If the airport card doesn't appear in the System Profiler (select 'About this Mac' in the Apple menu, then click the 'more info' button, then click 'Airport Card' down the left hand side) then the mini likely has a hardware problem and would be in need of repair/replacement. On the other hand, if the Airport Card shows up there, the system clearly can see the card, but it then means there is likely a problem with MacOS or a setting - in which case if you could describe the symptom (ie, where it is you are not seeing the card) then it may be possible to resolve.

  • MacOSX 10.3.8 system with original Airport card can't connect via WPA/WPA2

    Hi all,
My WiFi network consists of an Airport Express running a WPA/WPA2 Personal network and 802.11b/g compatibility, upon which 3 Macs (all with Airport Extreme/G or /Draft-N cards) and 2 PCs (both G compatible) merrily connect to.
I have an old PowerMac G4 which I've just fitted with an original non-Extreme Airport card, and having updated MacOSX 10.3.8 with Airport 4.2 to enable WPA access, it still refuses to connect to the network; I get the "There was an error joining the Airport network ..." when the correct password is entered.
My understanding is that while the old Airport cards don't support WPA2, they do support WPA and thus if the Airport Express network is set to WPA/WPA2 and b/g compatibility (which I'm assuming is some kind of all encompassing compatibility mode, given there's also sole WPA2 options) then it shouldn't have any problems connecting to the network. What am I missing here?
    Cheers, Ben.

I am having the exact same problem. Powerbook G4; original factory installed airport card; with Panther 10.3.9 OS plus updated 4.2 Airport Admin. Utility. It will NOT connect to my Airport Express set to the WPA/WPA2, which is working fine with my iPod touch.
When I get to the screen requesting password for my chosen airport network ("Wireless Security: WPA Personal), the "OK" button is grayed out and it will not even let me submit a password to connect. Can somebody help?

  • Airport card failed?

I bought this 12" ibook g3 900mhz (running 10.3.9) about a week ago and the airport card was working fine until last night the card wouldn't find my network or the other networks around. It recongises that there is a airport card but doesn't show my network i have not updated anything on it for the past few days.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you changed your network encryption in the past few days? The iBook's original AirPort Card will not work with WPA2 encryption.
Have you tried turning the AirPort Card off and back on again?
AirPort Cards don't fail very often, but it does happen once in awhile. (It happened to one of mine, in fact.)
Have you tried removing and re-seating the AirPort Card?

  • Macbook Pro, accidentally uninstalled airport card somehow. Reinstalled OS and everythng, appears to be software issue, but I don't know what to do.

Dad's Macbook Pro (10.6.3, from 2010) had perfect wifi, he accidentally uninstalled(?) it somehow, has no idea how he did it.
It said "no airport card installed" when I'd click the little wifi icon on the bar, or go into network settings.
I have wiped hard drive, reinstalled OS, reset SMC and PRAM, to no avail, and now there is no wifi icon at all.
I ran a hardware test (both regular and extensive), and nothing is coming up.
It's like the computer just CAN'T use wifi- I can't select it from any menu, for example:
-in the main "Network" window (under System Pref) it shows only Ethernet and Firewire on the side bar
-when I select the "+" to add a service/interface, only Firewire, Ethernet, Bluetooth DUN, VPN, 6 to 4 and PPPoE appear
-in "Network Setup Assistant" only DSL modem, cable modem, LAN are choices. "AirPort" is there, but is grayed out and cannot be selected.
Airport Untility is still installed, and will open but says unable to find any devices.
And when I ran System Profiler, under Network > AirPort, I have the following
    "Software Versions:
         Menu Extra: 6.2.1
         Configd plug in: 6.2
         System Profiler: 6.0
         Network Preference: 6.2.1
         AirPort Utility: 5.4.2
         IO80211 Family: 3.1"
I simply don't know what to do.  At first I thought I might need a physical "card" replaced, but hardware test says everything is fine, so I feel it must be software, but I wouldn't know what to try besides what I've already tried- I thought reinstalling the OS would do the trick, honestly, but it hasn't. Please help.

System profiler certainly does suppy information of installed hardware. Not sure why you said it doesn't.
If there is no wifi card found in the syetem then the info I outlined would be there.

  • HT3964 no airport card installed appears under the icon-.

no airport card appears under icon and can't connect to internet......

If you have Mountain Lion installed, you don't have a Powerbook.   Is your problem with a MacBook Pro as labelled on the screen frame?
    Did Airport ever work?
How long have you had the machine, and did you buy it new?

I have a MacBook Pro, I want to copy Itunes files to an SD card to play in my car, the SD Card doesn't appear in Itunes when I insert it, and I don't know how to convert the files to the correct format, can anyone help?
    Thank you

So it seems from reading the COMMAND manual that my first issue is that I used a 16GB SD card, and the manual says it will only recogize up to a 2GB SD card. I did use my MB Air's SD card slot and crated a folder and dragged the music files to it, then to the card. So I am going to get a 2GB card and try that next. Otherwise just stick with the iPOD connected. At least that is 8GB

  • How to use iBook for sharing internet via airport card... can it be done?

The title says most of it all. I want to share the internet coming from the wall through the airport card in my iBook. I've made it work, however I'm concerned about doing it securely. Can it be done securely? If so, how? I've read in the help files about using the firewalls and such, but I'm having trouble making heads or tails out of it all. How about a primer on basic wifi security in the iBook's Airport card environment? I'm not as savvy as I used to be! Thanks in advance for your help.

    ride a bike:
    Requirements for wireless Internet access
To use AirPort to access the Internet wirelessly using Mac OS X, you need:
An Apple AirPort Card, AirPort Extreme Card, or a compatible third-party wireless card
An AirPort Base Station, Time Capsule, AirPort Express, or an AirPort-enabled computer acting as a software base station (if you are hosting an AirPort wireless network)
    Internet access
Some Internet service providers (ISPs) are not currently compatible with AirPort.
If you’re setting up an AirPort Base Station, Time Capsule, or AirPort Express to connect to the Internet, you need an account with an ISP. When you set up your account with your ISP, you were most likely given account information (such as user or account name, password, phone number, and possibly other information). Have this information ready when you set up your device.
If you are connecting your base station to an Ethernet network that already has an Internet connection, you may need an account name and password to access the network. Check with the network administrator if you’re not sure.

  • Airport Card appears to be uninstalled on MacBook Pro

    Hey Folks,
I was attempting to help a friend who recently purchased a MacBook Pro off ebay update the software on his computer. After downloading a number of firmware updates and OS software updates his Airport stopped working. It appears that his airport card is no longer installed, however we did nothing to the card itself. I attempted to find support on-line on apple's web site under airports and installing airport cards, but nothing would appear when I typed "installing airport cards" in the search window. Where do I go to check the airport antenna on his MacBook Pro? In the network preferences the airport is grayed out, so it is not possible to turn it back on. Please disregard the laptop model in my user information. The information there is my computer and not my friends.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have a Mid 2010 15-inch MacBook Pro, which supports 8 GB of memory. Your MacBook Pro requires 1066 MHz DDR3 RAM. You can have a look at all the memory specs in this site > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1270?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#link2
You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3 You can buy RAM from other sources, but if you buy RAM from these two websites, you can be sure that the RAM will work with your Mac.
If you want to have a look at other brands, Corsair and a lot of manufacturers sell Mac-compatible RAM > http://www.corsair.com/us/memory-by-product-family/mac-memory-upgrades.html

  • No airport card installed appears under the status icon on my Powerbook g4

The airport connection quit on my PowerbookG4.......massage " No airport card installed" appears under the status bar. I have a Macbook Pro that shares the same airport and the Macbook Pro works well......

This message is almost always an indication that the wireless card has failed, and will need to be replaced. Take the MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or Apple Servicer to let them have a look and confirm.

What's the difference between the first card stock and the other card stock? What's the finish on the problem card stock? What printer are you using?  Does is have a physical adjustment for different stock thicknesses?
