Airport Card finds network and says connected but won't let me on internet!
My airport is on and finds a network, shows full strength of signal (like it's done for the past 8 months). But it has stopped letting me onto the internet. Safari and Mail hang and say they are not connected. If I go ahead and plug the ethernet cable in (from same network) it starts up fine. I live in a hotel and have done the same thing for 8 months, why today would it start doing this? Can anyone help. This is my first mac and I haven't the foggiest how to deal with this. I've turned airport off, restarted, turned it back on etc. It always finds a signal and says it's ready, but won't let me onto the internet. Thanks for any help you have.
Is the internet service also password protected? (As in, do you need a password for both the wireless and for the internet connection?) If so, then when you run the "assist me" option you should set up a PPP connection. That's my situation but I still have problems with it remembering my settings after rebooting or disconnecting...

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Wi-Fi problem, bars full and says connected but can't load any webpages
The only difference between now and before it stopped working is that i installed active directory+DNS on windows server 2012 through Hyper-V for a school assignment :/ ever since i did that my Wi-Fi just failed, it says connected but when i try to
open a web page it can't connect and on the network and sharing center it says unidentified network.

OS X Mavericks says download but won't let me
I am trying to download a version of Final Cut Pro and Aperature which needs OS X Mavericks upgrade.... it shows in my account but won't install or download the upgrade..... why and what can I do to get this fixed.

I currently show that I have 10.7.5 and when I went to the Mavericks it didn't do the command that it was downloading. But when I go into purchase it shows it has downloaded.
I received a download code from a friend that works at Apple for Final Cut.... that also will not download.
I also tried to do any upgrades to Lion that I may have missed and it says my system is up to date.
In my Purchase tab it shows I need to Install Final cut but it won't install.... and it shows Maverick and says DOWNLOAD but when I click on either one it won't do anything.
Could it be that the Redemption Code are from my friends configurations?

My HP 6500A Plus is connected to wireless network and web services but won't print email or code
I have my HP 6500A Plus connected to my wireless network and it is registered on the HP Web Services but it will not print the printer email address or code. I have followed the directions. I would appreciate your help in this matter. Dave

If your printer is telling you that it cannot connect to the server, try these steps.
1. Find your printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page.
2. Type you IP address into the address bar of your web browser.
3. Click on the network tab at the top of the page.
4. Look at the left hand side and click IPv4 under wireless.
5. Change the IP settings to Manual.
6. Enter the printer's IP address, your subnet mask, and your routers IP address or default gateway in the spaces.
7. Set the Preferred DNS to 8.8.8.8.
8. Set the Alternate DNS to 8.8.4.4.
9. Click apply.(You may need to refresh the page if it says processing for longer than a min and click apply again.)
10. Now try to print the information page.

PowerBook Airport Card looses network and causes unstable...
The Airport Card on my PowerBook 1.67 is having some sort of strange problem. The wireless network I am using suddenly cuts off and disappears and the signal indicator on the toolbar drops to zero bar.
But this is not the only problem, the desktop will become very unstable -- when I move the mouse, the cursor jumps around (sort of like something is running busy and causing the computer to lag).
When I turn off Airport the problem goes away (unstable stage).
Sometimes I have luck by going under preferences > network > airport to re-sign on to the network I was using, but sometimes it will not come back on (it won't pick up the signal), or the desktop cursor keeps jumping (unstable). And I have the restart the computer then it's back to normal.
Did Apple release any update on Airport Card? ThanksInteresting....
My wife's 15" 1.67 GHz PowerBook just started experiencing the same problem (except for the Desktop issue). She can be using her laptop and her preferred network will suddenly vanish. She is usually less than 30 feet from the router at the time and had strong signal strength prior to losing the network. Meanwhile, other iMacs and iBooks in the house can still see the network and have no loss in signal strength.
This problem started happening less than a week ago. Prior to then, this laptop received excellent wireless reception in our house. No changes have been made in our Linksys router in over a month. No Apple updates have been installed since March 2nd (Security Update 2006-001).
This issue seems to be different from past Airport reception problems discussed on this board regarding a design problem. Up until now, she has experienced fairly good reception with her PowerBook. I agree it is not as good as the reception on our iBook, but it has not been an issue for her.

I just hooked up my Apple TV - it is all connected correctly- when my wifi comes up on my tv screen i click and select it. It then says it is "connected" , but it is not as is it has not asked for the password for my wifi. I have turned it all off and back on, I have restarted it as well. I do know why it will not ask for my password - am I missing something?
It will not ask after it is already connected. Is ATV working? Can you connect to the iTunes store, Netflix, etc?

Aiport is connected but won't let me online
We decided yesterday to move some furniture and when we went to plug the internet stuff back in, it all of a sudden didn't work after working fine all morning. We were very careful so no, nothing was dropped or bumped or anything like that.
I can connect to the internet when I have my MackBook directly connected to the modem via ethernet but I can't wirelessly connect to the internet with my Airport. I can wirelessly print through my Airport and that's about it. It says that it's connected and when I run the diagnostic test through the Network System Preferences, it says I'm connected and everything is working. I even have an IP address.
I've reset and reset and reset. I've talked to Comcast 5 times. They say it's the Airport but I don't understand how if it was working fine earlier in the day and all we did was unplug it and plug it back in. We did just downgrade our internet (because Comcast is so expensive) and it might have taken them a few days to do the change, so could that be the problem? Does the AirPort have to have a certain speed internet to work? Comcast told us that might be the problem... so I'm trying to find out what speed we need for it to work and on top of that, if that could be the problem at all.Hello SallieLou. Just to be sure, let's double-check your AirPort Extreme Base Station's (AEBS) connection with the modem.

Does this match your setup? If so, then I suggest that you perform a complete power recycle of your network components in the following order:
Power Down
o Computer(s)
o AEBS
o Modem
Power Up
o Modem; wait 15 minutes.
o AEBS; wait 10 minutes.

Using Airport for office network and still connect to public wifi

I work in the public sector and we have open public wifi network that we can connect to, but have no control over and would never be given no access by our service user. we are a small sub contractor in a office tucked away.
We have 3 Macs and 2 wifi printers and several iPhones and iPads, our thought was to link them all and create a mini local network using the Airport extreme but still stay connected to the Wifi. as the only other option would be a 4G router but that is hit and miss with the connection.
After much stubbornness on my behalf i can not seem to fathom a way round this problem, is there a solution with the devices we have

I downloaded Dragon Express and think that it did not completely complete the download. However, it says that it has been installed and my account has been charged 50.00. However, when I click on the icon, it will not open. I have tried everything from restarting, trashing the app, but it continues to tell me that I cna't trash the app because it is open. I called apple support and they worked with me for about 30 minutes until they finally told me that the call had to end regardless of the fact that after all of their efforts, the problem was not resolved. He gave me a link to get a refund and said it was easy to navigate however, it led me nowhere. So now I am stuck with a worthless app, that does not work and a 50.00 bill to pay because I can't get support or link support to get a refund and even if I could get a refund I still have the Dragon express on my computer that does not work!!! HELP! I don't know how the app can be open when even support could not figure it out! When I restart, the finder window opens where it never did before.
Well first of all this is a public forum, so keep that in mind. The users here generally can not look up your case numbers.

Unfortunately, their case indexing is on a different database, and they will not be able to look up your case number either. However, their support is free, and despite it may take a few bounces of emails back and forth, there is a decent chance they may be able to get a solution.
Or... you can still try to shoot the **** with us here, which is Ok as well. But you'll have to keep in mind we can't look up your case numbers.

In your case I would check the router and WLan configuration again.
I mean you could try to disable the encryption in WLan router and could try to connect to open wireless lan.

I've been making my iTunes music purchases on my iPhone for over a year now. I bought a new one so I relied on iCloud to keep my purchases on record. When downloading my songs, I saw that some of them were missing. When I logged into the iTunes store, it said that the albums (yes entire albums are missing) have been "PURCHASED", therefore I can't buy them again. And they don't have that iCloud icon on them to download them (since I have already purchased them). I checked my iTunes account on both my PC and my iPhone and still nothing. These aren't old purchases, but ones that I made a few months ago. Can anyone help me get my music back??

AirPort says 'connected' but Safari says 'not connected to the internet'
I'm stumped.
I just replaced a failed HD. Installed OS from original disk. Airport shows strong signal and says "connected" but when trying to open Safari or check for software updates I receive a 'you're not connected to the internet' message.
Remember I had upgraded to Snow Leopard, so just installed that from disk as well. Same situation with the attempts to wirelessly connect.
Note - all other computers, smart phones, etc in the house can still connect wirelessly. When I connect the MacBook via the ethernet cable, it's fine. Problem is only with wireless connection.
Service is Verizon Fios. Have tried repeatedly restarting the router.

Yes, I've been running Software Update frequently over the last 24 hours (needed to update all the software on that new HD) said there were no updates at last check. However, followed link you provided above and installed the Combo update.
Was hopeful on initial restart after that install, as I rec'd a message to the effect of: "none of your preferred networks are connected". Selected my home network (which was listed and with strong signal), entered password and same result - not connected to the internet.
Took your advice above and returned to "Using DHCP" setting. Inital response was "no ip address" and then after short time, "self assigned ip address" "will not be able to connect to the internet". Tried "renew DHCP lease" and continually receive same result. All very frustrating.
My next step will be to try and connect wirelessly on a friend or family member's network (my local Apple store is a bit far away. Easier for me to visit the ones near my office during the work week).
If I am able to connect on another's network, does that indicate it's an issue with my router?
If I am UNABLE to connect on another's network, does that indicate it's an issue with my laptop?
This is so disappointing - the replacement of the HD was so easy, as was the reinstalling of software. This connection issue is souring what was a relatively painless and quick experience.

- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
