Airport Card Not Installed Error on Macbook Pro 13

I've a Macbook Pro 13 less than 1year old. 3 days ago, I attempted to update my iPod Touch 3G from 3.1.2 to 4.2.1. While in the process, my iPod froze and I forced quitted iTunes.
On the next boot, Airport was off. And no matter what I did, it didn't turn on. I fixed this with a reinstall of the OS. Yesterday night, I turned off Airport to save power. Today morning onwards, I see the warning "Airport Card not Installed".
What could be the problem?

No idea, but here is a thread on this very subject and many suggestions which have worked for some people:

Good luck!

  • The dreaded Airport Card not Installed error

I'm getting this error now, along with problems with my ethernet port. It was working fine on Sunday, I closed it and put it in its bag, then when I took it out later, no wireless and ethernet wasn't working. I rebooted and then got the "Air Port card not installed" message. The ethernet card will not pick up an IP via DHCP, however, if I manually assign an address, it can contact machines on my local net only - I even finished a Time Machine backup to a windows share after the failure.
    failed repair attempts:
    Reboot
SMC and PRAM reset - multiple times
    Reinstall
Delete .kext files (not all of them, just the ones recommended in other threads like IO8011family.kext - which was recreated, but still no joy.)
I'm about ready to wipe and reload, but I fortunately have a the old hard drive I took out when I upgraded - it exactly as I took it out - I didn't change a thing.
Before I try swapping the drives or wipe and reload, does anyone have any ideas?

Well, repairing disk permissions did not help. Another SMC rest and PRAM reset did not help, and booting from external hard drive (different software) did not help. I'm really scared now because there is no way I can afford to repair it until November. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Adobe CS4 will not install on new macbook pro [was: pro]

Adobe CS4 will not install on new macbook pro. It is coming from my other macbook.

Install normally means running setup from the orginal discs or the downloadable trial version. If you are copying from a backup or another computer, that won't work.
Best advice is to download the CS4 trial, and have your serial number ready in order to convert the trial into a licensed version.
Get the trial here. Follow the instructions carefully or the download link won't work.

  • My airport randomly said 'airport card not installed'

my airport has been working fine for as long as i had it, then yesterday i turned my laptop on and it says 'airport card not installed' how do i fix this?

This Airport Card suddenly not available happened to me at the begining of 2012. It always worked since I bought my computer. I am researching this problem. Have you any suggestions for me from what you've learned? Thanks.

  • Broken airport card and hard drive on MacBook Pro and can't go to recovery with LAN.

    Hi.
My MacBook Pro 13" (early-2011)'s hard drive has broken, and I bought a Kingston 120GB SSDNow instead.
Earlier, the airport card and cable has been broken too.
Are there other ways I can use LAN to recover my mac? It wants me to use wifi, but the airport card is broken...
If so, why does it only want to use Wifi instead of LAN?
LAN is like the extra parachute just in case, or the extra octopus regulator in scuba diving.

Is your model on the list? Did you ever upgrade its firmware? If not, then all you can do is start by booting from your Snow Leopard DVD and installing Snow Leopard on your SSD. Be sure to first partition and format the SSD for use with OS X. Once you install Snow Leopard you can download and install the firmware update for future needs.

  • 10.9.3 update is not installing on my macbook Pro 13" Retina

I have a MacBook Pro 13" with Retina display, late 2013 model (high end specs).
I tried to update from 10.9.2 to the latest 10.9.3 versio, downloaded the update and the computer asked to restart to install the update, but it got stuck with nothing on the screen and the menu options of the software update.
I kept it for a very long time with nothing on the screen and then held down the power button to shut off then start again.
The computer starts normally, but wifi will not detect internet from any hotspot I have, until I switch wifi off then on again.
Still my machine is 10.9.2 and everytime I try the update I get the same thing.
I tried the combo update (out of the Mac App Store), but the same thing happened.
    Anyone can help?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Help, Open Office will not install on my MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I bought a MacBook Pro last week and I am trying to install Open Office. However, when the install begins it works for about 30 seconds and then this error message appears..
    Apache_OpenOffice_in image data corrupted
I downloaded the program from the website so I don't think the validity of the file is in question.
    Any suggestions or help?

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • AirPort card not installed and other odd behaviour

Sorry for the long post, just want to provide all relevant info.
I have a first gen intel mac book pro 15" that has been working fine from the day I got it (well except for the optical drive, but that's another story) and today it decided to start playing up.
I've tried numerous things after googling around without success. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me find a solution.
When I woke it from sleep by opening the lid today, it wouldn't connect to the wireless network so I clicked on the airport button in the menu and there appeared the message "No AirPort" card installed". Then I noticed that the volume button next to the AirPort button was also greyed out so I looked at Sound preferences and there appeared the message "No output devices found". Sometimes the screen would not turn on after waking from sleep so I tried connecting the laptop to my TV (no other monitor around) to see I could get a picture without success.
After a restart or two, the computer would sometimes not boot – the LED light at the front of the laptop would light up but the computer would not load. A couple of restarts by holding the power button down later, the computer would start.
At one point, when I hooked up the power adapter while logged in, the screen turned off. I had to restart the computer a few times to get it to work again (both with the power hooked up and when running on battery).
I did some googling and tried a number of things to try to resolve the issue without success. I tried the following:
    - deleted the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration folder. Apparently OSX gets confused with network adaptors sometimes.
    - repaired disk permissions
    - reset the NVRAM
    - reset the SMC
    - reset the PMU
    - tried running the hardware tests from the Snow Leopard DVD but my optical drive decided not to accept the DVD when attempting to boot from it (ie. holding the D button) even though it reads the DVD fine from within OSX.
    - i even booted OSX in verbose mode (cmd-V) to see if i could spot anything – didn't notice anything obvious.
Not sure if this has anything to do with these issues, but I recently replaced my power adapter with a new one after the original one stopped working. I got the new style 85W power adapters after talking to the MyMac sales guy about which one suits my laptop. Looks like the cable got damaged over the years.
Short of replacing the PVRAM battery in case it helps (apparently they last around 5 years), is there anything else anyone can suggest I try? or provide insight into the problem?
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks for your suggestion.
One thing I forgot to mention was that I have a Bootcamp partition with Windows 7 and when I boot into Windows 7, the wifi and sound also do not work.
Do you think it is an OS X software problem if I'm having issues when booting into Windows 7?

  • Why will itunes not install on my macbook pro

Why will I-tunes not work on my brand new macbook pro?

Yes, it asks me to download 10.6.3 but when i click update it says.  The update “iTunes” can’t be installed.  The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.  I have updated all other updates and restarted the computer multiple times with no luck.

  • "airport card not installed" and can't open network preferences

I was earlier having the problem of no ip address and not connecting to the Internet and self assigning an ip address.  I tried everything to fix that and on my last attempt I turned off the airport and shut down but now it says I dont have an airport card installed. How do I fix this?

Your running snow leopard which may be the case. Probably not but i recommend doing a clean install of snow leopard if the problem perrsists.
Also I suggest going to the apple store anyways. I personally enjoy finding help on the forums but sometimes if you book in advance going to the apple is a whole lot simpler.
You might also want to try upgrading your operating system to Lion or Mountain Lion which may fix the problem.
Yet another option would be to open up the laptop (Voids your warranty) and check is the airpot card is loose and maybe not being recognized.

  • After Service, Airport card stops working randomly on macbook pro 17" early 2009

    Hi,
So after the last time my computer was serviced, the airport card stops working randomly on moving the screen.
Upons restarting the computer, it sometimes says wi-fi hardware not installed. Then, if I move my machine around,
lift it up, turn it around, place it back on the table and restart it, it works again. I don't understand this.
And all this started happening the moment my warranty ran out. Extremely frustrating!!

It may be possible that one of the following may be the issue:
The internal AirPort Extreme card is not seated properly.
The internal Wi-Fi antenna connector is not seated properly in the AirPort Extreme card.
The internal AirPort Extreme card's connector is faulty or damaged.
The internal AirPort Extreme card is faulty.
To get an idea on how the Extreme card is installed, please check out the following iFixit article.

  • Kernal Panic and "Airport card not installed"

    Hello.
I opened my laptop's lid this morning to find that my airport card did not turn on automatically as it usually does. Nor would it turn on from the menu bar. So I decided to restart the machine. Upon restart and log in, Airport said that the card was not installed. Restarted again... kernal panic. Restarted a third time... another kernal panic. Then tried to safe boot, successfully booted and logged in. Restarted from the Apple Menu. Another kernal panic. Reset the PRAM and had a successful boot, but still have same airport not installed message.
Does anyone have an idea about what may be happening? Or any other ideas of what I can do. Anything would be of great help.
    Thanks

    Jason:
Your Airport Extreme card is either not securely installed or has failed and needs to be replaced. Remove the Airport Extreme Card, wipe the contacts and re-install, making sure that it is securely in place. Then restart and see if the card is recognized. If it is not, you need a new card.
