Airport connected but internet not working!

My airport will say that it is connected to the internet and will sometimes pull up an IP address, but at my home network it will not pull up an IP address. I can connect to the internet through Safari while the airport has an IP address and it will work for about 30 seconds to a minute. If I shut off the airport then turn it back on, it works again shortly. At home, I have deleted the keychain for the home network and taken the network off of my preferred networks. I then re-added it and entered in the information/passwords. There is still no IP address despite renewing the DHCP lease. HELP! This seems like 2 issues that are both affected by my airport functionality.

After looking at other forums, it seems that other people have this same problem with the message of a "self assigned IP address" but not able to connect.
I have tried the steps of removing the keychain and network and re-adding and still no internet.

• New macbook, airport says connected but browser not working

Hi,
Just got a new macbook. When I connect to the internet the airport says it's connected to the network, but my browser won't work like it isn't connected.I have connected a few times,so I know it does work, but now it won't work at all.
Don't know what to do!

Having an internal IP address is essential.
Go to System Preferences>Network and note the color of the "Dot" to the left of Airport. Red=No connection, Yellow=connected but no IP, and Green=working.
Double click on Airport and click on the TCP/IP tab. Check to see if you have an IP address. Click Renew DHCP lease. Apply now if it is available. Open Safari and see if it works.
Let me know what happens.

• Linksys WRT54G Ver.6 not connecting (but internet is working through modem)?

I have the following router and the internet is not working through it though its working when I connect my Mac directly to the ISP's modem.
I did update the router to the latest firmware, I have had this router for the past 4 years. My friends other computer which is a vista and my iPhone is not able to get the Internet either. But it's connecting to the network with strong signal
status I'm able to see the ip adress, subnet mask etc
please help

As you upgraded the router's firmware,Reset the router and try to re-configure it from scratch.
If your Internet Service Provider is Cable follow this link to configure the router.
If your Internet Service Provider is DSL follow this link configure the router.

• Ethernet connection to Internet not working

I have a mac mini (pre wireless) connected to a siemens gigaset se587 wlan DSL router via Ethernet cable. This worked fine when I set it up a couple of weeks ago. Now the mac mini has stopped connecting to the Internet. The router is working: I can still connect to Internet wirelessly on my iPhone and can still run airtunes on an Airport express from the iPhone remote app.
My ISP (tiscali) don't support mac and have been useless. Apple support also can't work it out.
I've reset countless times and tried setting up a new connection and the mac can recognize the router it just won't open any web pages!
Please help - I'm tearing my hair out!

This could be a DNS server issue.
Following the suggestion in this post (thanks AndyO!) to enter an IP number directly would give us more info:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6151522&#6151522
If it is a DNS server issue, then switching to DNS server like OpenDNS might help resolve it:
https://www.opendns.com/start
though there are some countries where OpenDNS is not available.

• IPhone shows LTE and 4G, but internet not working ?

I got a new iPhone 6 on Friday. After restoring my iPhone from my previous 4S backup (created Thursday before getting the new phone Friday) the phone was working great with the exception of the data. The text and phone calls are working fine. The strangest thing is that the phone says LTE or 4G (if I turn the LTE off), but the data is not working.
Today, after resetting my network settings and getting a new SIM from AT&T I still couldn't get the data working. The only solution I've found was setting up my iPhone as new. When I setup the iPhone as new the data works perfectly fine.
Is this a common issue? Any insight would be gladly appreciated!
I'm on AT&T. iPhone 6 128GB, purchased from Apple.com.
UPDATE: I found that yesterday my phones text messages were also not working when I was not connected to WiFi. I talked to an Apple rep yesterday as well and he said that if I set it up as a new phone and it was working then something is wrong with my backup.

We went through the efelix help notes ((through a
link someone posted already)) and already did the WEP
security settings for XP.
The efelix website is my website (it's a mirror of the ifelix website)
The signal has been fading in and out. Is it possible
that the PC is confused by a signal from the base
station and a signal from the express?
Yes this is possible when using WDS as the client connects to the main station and then connects to the remote.
On the main base station turn off allow wireless clients to connect to this base station, so that clients only connect to the remote base station.

• Firefox won't work, every website has an error like the internet isn't connected but internet explorer works fine, how do I fix it?

This is the message I get for EVERY website I have tried: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at support.mozilla.com. I have checked the firewall and didn't notice any problems but I might not know what to look for. I have uninstalled and re-installed the program and still have the problem, I have also tried on different wireless internet signals and restarting my computer. I am using windows 7.

No problems here with that visited counter on your website.
Which extensions did you install?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• IPod touch wifi connects but internet doesnt work

I have a wireless router that I connect to but when I attempt to get to the internet or app store, it says "cannot connect: invalid argument"
What should I do?

When you think you are connected (a checkmark appears next to your network name), tap the blue > next to your network name. Do you have a device IP address, subnet mask, router IP, and DNS IP addresses visible? I think you are probably see just an IP address that starts with 169.x and an incomplete subnet mask.
If this is what you are seeing, the 169.x IP address is a self-assigned (and non-functional) IP address. You are logged onto your network but your router is not issuing your touch an IP address.
A few of things you can do (and you can check after each step):
1. Restart/reboot your router (just remove the power, wait a few, and plug it back in)
2. Reset your network settings on the touch - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. After your touch restarts, log back into your network by tapping Settings > WiFi > Other and re-entering your network name, security, and password.
3. If you are using WEP, either change to WPA2-psk or use your hex key in place of a password
4. Check to see if your router is using the latest firmware. If it isn't, download and install the latest.

• Bluetooth (i have been using for a while) says connected, but is not working.

I have a Macbook pro, just updated to Yosemite, and now blue tooth (devices I have been using) don't work even though it says connected. I have googled the possible problems-tried all the fixes, nothing has helped.

My experience in this situation has been that's it's related to the visa card, and not necessarily the phone or the iTunes store. In addition to verifying all of the credentials on the card as entered, I'd also check with you card bank and see if they have declined the charges due to some type of security concerns. I have a Chase card, and they will decline a charge even though there are sufficient funds available, if the charges meet some security screening criteria.

You don't mention the router model but some Thompson routers appear to have a problem working with Bonjour/mdns. There's some information here:

• New CDMA iPhone 4S, apps that require data such as Yahoo instant messenger and the weather channel, work fine with a wifi connection but do not work with 3G

These apps just time out on 3G, but load just fine over wifi from the device. I know the data connection is good because web pages load fine in the browser on the phone.
Any idea how to fix this?

What carrier are you using?
