Airport connection not enabled after boot
Hi, I have noticed recently that if I reboot the iMac, after shutting down or using Boot Camp for my Winslows apps, that Airport doesn't connect to my wireless network. It is easy to select the network to connect to, but I don't think I should have to do this every time. Does anyone have any ideas?
bossman,
Welcome to discussions.
Why don't you use the Network System Preference to prioritise how you connect to your network, which network you connect to, and even get it to store the password in your Keychain.
Fire up the Network System Preference. What is your Location at the top ?
Then chose Network Status from the Show: popup menu underneath (should be the default anyway). What connection methods does it show ? Which one is at the top ? Which ones have green dots next to them ? and which have yellow dots ? And which have red dots ?
Is AirPort even on ?

T2000 not enabled to boot from cdrom
Dear,
I have new T2000 and want to install Solaris OS but I am not enabled to boot from cdrom. When I run "ok boot cdrom" get following errors -
Rebooting with command: boot cdrom
Boot device: /pci@7c0/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/ide@8/cdrom@0,0:f File and args:
Can't read disk label.
Can't open disk label package
ERROR: boot-read fail
Evaluating:
Can't open boot device
So I searched on google, I got some tips like upgrade the firmware and run the "boot cdrom -nowin" command, I tried alls but no luck ...
"probe-ide" still shows "Device Not Present"...
Please share me your experience about this problem if you have....
///Thanks
Mohammed TanvirRun "boot cdrom" twice in quick succession. It worked for me, and it might work for you.

Wireless mouse pointer which does not move after boot *sometimes*
Hi,
I have a wireless keyboard/mouse combo from Logitech (MK700 keyboard and MX705 mouse), which uses a USB receiver.
After booting, the mouse pointer sometimes is completely blocked, and I have to reboot to make it work. Sometimes I need to do this twice. I cannot reproduce it and this is not linked to the fact the mouse is active or on sleep mode. This seems to be a race condition, considering it is difficult to reproduce. Once the mouse pointer is working, there is no issue anymore during desktop use.
I compared lsmod when mouse pointer is working or not, and did not see any difference in the loaded modules.
This started to happen maybe 3 months ago. I have had this hardware for two years with no problem in the past. It is not a battery problem either.
Has anyone an idea?

Ther is indeed a difference in evedev detection in Xorg logs when mouse is working or not working.

Could my Logitech camera interfere with the keyboard/mouse unifier detection? -
Keyboard and mouse not working after boot
Hello!
it's my first time here
I have been using archlinux for a couple of months and after an upgrade, my mouse and keyboard stopped working.
I have also posted it on linuxquestions:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions … ot-934040/
What might be causing that problem?
and, considering the problem occurred after an upgrade, reinstalling the system would correct it?when booting into runlevel 3, the keyboard and mouse works fine.
my pacman.log(only for the update day) and messages.log are:

1 of 2 Airport Expresses Not Responsive After New Wireless Router Installed
Installed a new Belkin N+ wireless router and now one of my Airport Expresses that I use for Airtunes cannot be "seen" by my computer. Tried resetting with no luck. One of them is a g and the other an n. It is the n that I'm having the issue with.
Welcome to the discussion area!
Temporarily, connect an ethernet cable directly from your Mac to the AirPort Express. This will usually allow AirPort Utility to "see" the Express so that you can reconfigure it to work with the new router. You can disconnect the ethernet cable after you have updated the settings on the AirPort Express.
If this is not successful after a few tries, then the next step would be to reset the Express back to a factory default condition and reconfigure it again. To do this you would:
Power down the Express for a few moments
Hold in the reset button and keep holding it in as you plug the Express back in to power
Release the reset button after 8-10 seconds -
Airport does not work after upgrade to windows vista SP1
Hi,
I have a MBP running windows vista 32 bit under bootcamp. For some of my professional software, I need windows. Up to now, everything runs OK.I've upgrade to bootcamp 2.1 and everything still runs just fine. However, I wanted to install SP1 because it fixes some of Vista's (many) flaws. After installing SP1 (it downloads automatically), e.g. airport does not function anymore - it just does not see the wireless anymore (it looks like on my MBP it does no longer find the drivers for e.g. the wireless card). Uninstalling SP1 fixes the problem but brings me back to square 1. Any solutions? Thanks.Hi,
Please reinstall the following package:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63287.exe
Regards.

Airport does not reconnect after standby...
Is anyone having issues w/ wireless not reconnecting after standby? In order to resolve the problem, I have to turn airport off then back on. Most of the time I can get back on using on/off method, but seldomly I have to reboot. This is my config:
SSID is not broadcasted, using capital letters and numbers for SSID Name.
WPA TKIP set for router encryption. WPA Personal selected on Airport.
I don't seem to have this problem on my Macbook running Leopard, so I'm pretty sure it's hardware/driver related to my Macbook Pro. I have to keep tabs on this, but I almost think this problem does not appear when a network SSID is broadcasted and/or unecrypted. It could be my imagination but not sure.
Any ideas or same issues out there?I always have the same problem; I assume it has something to do with the fact that I regularly switch my cable modem to "standby" when done surfing the internet. Seemingly Airport loses the signal (or whatever) because the modem isn't feeding a signal being in standby mode? When I turn the modem back on, I have to turn Airport back on as well. So far, I've just felt it to be a small inconvenience.

T40: Pointing device not recogniced after booting
The pointing device is sometimes not recogniced right after booting. The error message says: activate the pointing device by the bios setting. But in the bios section it is always set to automatic as welll as in the IBM system setup. The error occurs only randomly.
Might be something wrong with the bios? Any experience?? Battery problem?
Thanks!
MartinYes, it is the Cisco "b" wireless card and here's the driver:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-42683
Make sure to follow the instructions on the download page, since the actual process has two steps before the driver is fully installed.
Hope this helps.

New harddrive not recognized after boot
Hi,
I just got a new (never been used) Western Digital Green 4TB hard drive today, but it doesn't seem to be recognized by the OS after booting. In the BIOS it is recognized, but as having ~2TB of storage instead of 4TB. During booting I get this message a few times: "ata9: softreset failed (device not ready)". This causes booting to take around 30 seconds longer than usual and the drive makes some strange beeping noises while this is happening. Eventually the message stops printing, and the beeping stops, and the OS finishes booting, but the drive is not recognized at all.
Did I get sent a defective drive?
My motherboard is a z77 Sabertooth that I purchased in the summer of 2012. Is there a certain SATA port I need to use for a drive this big? Could it be that the drive is not getting enough power to spin up? I noticed that the drive has some extra pins that none of my other hard drives have, like in the left side of this image http://techreport.com/r.x/wd-red-4tb/straight.jpg. Am I supposed to plug anything into those?
Last edited by tylerpnn (2015-03-17 15:58:31)The pins are for jumpers.
Try different SATA cables, SATA ports, and power connectors. If behaviour doesn't change you probably have a bad drive. -

UDEV touchpad not enabling after removing mouse
Hi and thanks for reading,
I have created udev rules
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="045e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="00cb", ENV{DISPLAY}=":0.0", ENV{XAUTHORITY}="/home/john/.Xauthority", ENV{ID_CLASS}="mouse", RUN+="/usr/bin/synclient TouchpadOff=1"
ACTION=="remove", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="045e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="00cb", ENV{DISPLAY}=":0.0", ENV{XAUTHORITY}="/home/john/.Xauthority", ENV{ID_CLASS}="mouse", RUN+="/usr/bin/synclient TouchpadOff=0"
Now it works as expected when I plug in the mouse the touchpad disables. However when uplugging the mouse the touchpad does not enable again. I cannot for the life of me figure out why?Never mind, I have solved the problem. Searched "Synaptics" in My Computer. Opened up a folder labelled Synaptics. Selected InstNT. Right-Clicked; chose "run as administrator". Problem solved.

Printer connected to Airport will not work after update
I recently updated my airport express firmware to the 7.6.1. The printer was working just fine before I did this. It is connected to the airport base station via USB. The error message is " USB write error: Unable to send 1024 bytes of data"
As I said before everything was fine until I updated the firmware. Any suggestions? What can I do?Suggest that you try the following:
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
Open Print & Scan
Click on the installed printer to highlight it
Click the -- (minus) button at the bottom of the list to delete the device
Close the Print and Scan box
Power down and restart your Mac
Make sure that the printer is plugged into the USB port and powered up
Open Sysem Preferences
Open Print & Scan
Click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list area
Hopefully, your printer family will appear in the next window that opens
If yes, click the printer name to highlight it
Click Add
Try to print. Be sure to select the correct printer since it may also be installed on your Mac.
Power down and retart the printer if needed
Report on your results
