Airport does not stay connected

I'm having a bit of an issue with Airport.  My first Airport Express router died so I just got a new one.  It is the latest version with the power cord.  Prior one plugged directly into surge protector (no cord).
Here is the problem:
I simply plugged and played the new Airport.  I did nothing to any settings already present in my Imac from the prior router.
I connect without issue however if I put the Mac to sleep it  sleeps for 3-4 seconds as does the Airport than on it's on comes back on.  I get a message that disc not properly ejected etc. (no disc is in the Imac!) and if I go to internet i must reconnect Airport(join network, provide password etc).  All is well until I again sleep or power of  the Mac than same issue recurs.
I did a search and it was suggested I  reset both SMC and PRAM.  I followed instructions and did so.
Problem not solved.  I don't know if the disc eject error message is related to the router issue. I did inset a disc and eject to see if that would help but no change.
So I suppose my issue is two fold; computer will not sleep it turns back on after 3-4 seconds and when it does this the Airport is disconnected and I must reenter info to get on line.  I am not at all computer savy and appreciate any help.
Thanks
JK

Hi John,
Do you have it set to join a "Specific Network" in Network Preferences>AirPort?

  • Iphone 4 does not stay connected to my network

Since upgrading to 6.1, my iPhone 4 does not stay connected to my network.  I have to input my password each time I leave my house.  My other devices stay connected, so the issue is with the upgrade.  Has anyone found a way to keep their IPhone connected to their network?  Thanks.

I don't have another phone to try. I took out the sim to check for deffects but it looked fine. Cleaned the sim card with alcohol and cleaned the aim compartment. Phone didn't loose Internet connection all day yesterday, but this morning went to check emails and wouldn't update until I turned airplane mode on then off again.

  • Iphone does not stay connected to wi-fi.

When using apps or when in sleep mode my iphone does not stay connected to my wi-fi. All other items within the house have no issues with staying connected to my wi-fi.

By design, when entering sleep mode, the iPhone will disconnect from WiFi to conserve battery. If you want the WiFi connection to remain persistent, plug your phone into a power source.

  • WiFi does not stay connected after latest upgrade

I am having an issue with the WiFi connection on my Iphone 4 after the latest 4.3 upgrade.
It does not stay connected to the wifi. I have to go and manually connect to it.
Then after a couple of seconds it loses it again.
    Why is this

"I'm not sure why yours is doing it but I would suggest your reboot your router and reset the iPhone network settings.
If you are hiding your SSID, do the last step which is tap Settings > WiFi > Other and completely re-enter your network name, security, and network password."
Been there, done that... Did ALL these steps, but that does not fix the problem... AFTER inputting the SSID manually, selecting security, and then the password, iPhone STILL says it cannot connect...

  • IPhone 4 does not stay connected to internet over 3G+

I have an iPhone 4 on the telus network running the latest version of the os 4.3.3. My phone will not stay connected to the Internet most of the time. It looses connection and won't reconnect until I turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off. It also looses connection if I have wifi on and it detects a network but choose not to connect to it. I have restored my phone and it fixed the problem for half a day before it started again. I only have a couple months warranty left, is this covered do you think?

  • 58L7300U - Wifi does not stay connected

Comcast cable using a Xfinity branded ARRIS TG862 Wireless SOHO Router.
Two Toshiba 58L7300U TVs mounted on walls in residence.
LAN is setup and stable.  The Router has been properly configured using WPA2 AES encryption.  All computers (Apple, Microsoft Surface, Dell and Toshiba) access WiFi with no problems.  All Smart Phones access WiFi with no problem.
The two Toshiba 58L7300U -  they have a problem.  Even PC Magazine has noted the issue in their test lab.
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2428099,00.asp
"The 50L7300U supports Wi-Fi networking, but the set was unable to stay connected to any of our wireless access points here in the labs. It saw each access point and would connect for a brief moment, but each time it would lose the connection. The wired LAN connection worked perfectly, however."
We've been through every possible setup.  I was on the phone with Toshiba for 2 hours and they finally capitulated there was a problem.
Both TVs were purchased just prior to Chistmas 2013.  They both have software version 7.2.67.31.01.1 (5/22/14).
If we get the TV to access WiFi I can use PING -T to ping the TV IP address.  Yet the TV would say it can't get a connection.  It is on the LAN.  It has a TCP/IP stack and it can been seen from the POV of the Router and can be seen by another computer on the LAN.
One TV could get access, for a while.  It could access Pandora and YouTube content.  Then it LOST the ability out of the blue.  Othertimes the TV would see the SSID and from the Router POV I would enable WPS and then have the TV do a "scan".  Then it  it would say it can't find an Wireless Access Point.  I have done setups via;  manual, assisted and use WPS.
All I can say is that there is a BUG in the software of the 58L7300U in accessing a Wireless Fidelity networks and for a $1,000 per TV that's atrocious.
Personally, I'd hard wire the units but the owner doesn't want that.
The owner spent $2K, and wants the product to properly access WiFi.

If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPhone. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPhone on some other WiFi networks: work (apparently has problems), a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPhone does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPhone is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

  • AirPort will not stay connected

I have my wireless dsl modem in the same room as I am and it will connect sometimes and if and when it does, Im lucky if it stays connected for 5 minutes. Strange though if I go in my bed room, one room away, I have better chances of connection for at least 15 minutes. Whats up?

This isssue is most likely related to the Airport KP problem. I had the same issues. Apple will be releasing an update in the near future. Please see this thread:

  • AirPort does not automatically connect when IP settings assigned manually

    Hello,
Since I manually set up the TCP/IP settings in System Preferences > Network > AirPort, I have found that upon waking my iBook, it no longer connects to our AirPort network automatically. Instead I have to go to the AirPort menu and select our home network manually. As you can imagine, this is somewhat annoying.
I imagine it's designed this way as when you enter another wireless network you aren't going to want to use those same manual TCP/IP settings.
Is anyone aware of a workaround for this?
I'm not using DHCP as I want the iBook to retain the use of the '10.0.1.200' IP address, which the AirPort Extreme points port 80 traffic towards. 'DHCP with a manual address' seems like the way to go. However, with this setting my iBook is unable to determine the subnet mask or router address (why this happens is beyond me, since surely the iBook gets this information via DHCP?).
Any ideas? Am I missing something really obvious?
    Jon.

    Huh?
I have I think. "Configure via IPv4:" is set to "Manually". I have then manually set my IP address to "10.0.1.200", the subnet mask to "255.255.255.0", the router to "10.0.1.1" and the DNS servers to my ISP's DNS servers. I have no problems with the Internet connection. I don't think the problem lies here, if that's what you are talking about.
The problem I have is that, when my iBook wakes (or is logged in) it doesn't automatically connect to our wireless network. Instead I have to manually select it from the AirPort menu, which is annoying. If I use the "Configure IPv4: Using DHCP" option it all works fine, apart from the fact that I can't use the IP address I want to use.
It seems to me that if you configure manually AirPort won't auto-connect upon wake, for fear of connecting to a different wireless network using your manual TCP/IP settings.

  • HT4623 I want to purchase a ipad 32gb in the larger size but have read many bad reviews that the wifi does not stay connected and I don't want to have to buy another data package as I already own an iphone that i pay data for, what are my concerns

I want to purchase an ipad 32gb in the larger size buy have read many bad reviews that they have problems staying connected to wifi.  I don't want to have to buy a data package so I only want the wifi one.  I already pay apple for my iphone data and I can't afford more money.  Why are there so many bad reviews and are the newer ones that much better, according to many reviews they are not. Please help

I already pay apple for my iphone data
You pay your carrier for data, not Apple.
Why are there so many bad reviews
Where? Regardless, there are always going to be a handful of people having some sort of issue with any given device, but I would not therefore assume that you would be one of them.

  • Airport Does Not Automatically Connect

I recently put a password on my router (NetGear). Since then, when I wake my computer from sleep or turn it on, the Airport no longer automatically connects to my network even though I have it set up in the System Preferences to "By default, join a specific network" (which is my network, with the password typed in). Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • IPhone does not stay connected to iTunes

This doesn't happen to me every day or every time that i want to sync my iPhone, but maybe at least once a week or twice a week maybe...very strange.
So one day i was trying to sync my iPhone to my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro, and iTunes never opened (or if it was opened, it never detected the connection). I tried this numerous times in all 3 USB ports on the sides of my Mac.
An Erase & Install was recently done and restore from a Time Machine backup probably 3 months ago.
I wanted to make sure that it wasn't the USB cable, so i tried plugging it into the wall outlet to charge...of course, that worked.
So it's not the cable...but why is it not being recognized from either one of my USB ports? This particular day, i must have tried numerous times plugging it in to the different ports and it either never made the connection, or if it did...it would connect for a split second, start to sync, then disconnect in the middle of it....re-connect, dis-connect, re-connect...etc....back and forth and it wouldn't finish syncing.
I purchased the original iPhone on Day 1, June 29th, 2007, but this particular iPhone in question i just received as a replacement about 2 months ago....along with a new USB cable, AC wall plug, and dock....all replaced.
So i went down to the new Apple store that just opened up here in Pa a few weeks ago to have a Genius take a look at it. He plugged it into his computer there - it connected right away but he didn't leave it plugged in to see if the connection would stay or not, he just unplugged it and basically said there was nothing wrong with it.
So what exactly is it? It won't even let me restore it without it disconnecting...help please!? Thank you
    Jason

    Jason,
    Your troubleshooting:
"I was trying to sync my iPhone to my 2.4GHz MacBook Pro, and iTunes never opened"
"I tried this numerous times in all 3 USB ports on the sides of my Mac."
"I tried plugging it into the wall outlet to charge...of course, that worked." (not your Mac.)
    Apple store troubleshooting:
"He plugged it into his computer there - it connected right away..."
... his computer. (once again, not your Mac.)
    See the pattern?
I will assume that you didn't take your Mac Book to the store for the Genius to check with your iPhone since you said he plugged it into his computer. Go back, but this time take your MacBook to the store as well. The problem might be in the connection between your iPhone and your computer. If that's where the problem exists, and not with the phone or cable, there's nothing the Genius could do. Pain in the butt to schlep your laptop to the store, I know, but it could help you get an answer. I'm surprised the "Genius" didn't suggest that to you.

  • Does not stay connected to wifi - Solved

Over the holiday I got an iPad Mini and iPhone 5. On both devices my wifi disconnects often, especially when put into lock mode. I had to keep re entering password to reconnect, very annoying.
I read the discussions and had a thought to solve it. This fix works on both my iPhone and iPad.
Go to your wireless settings and disconnect. Then select any other network, one that you do not want to connect to.
Connect to the random wifi network and when prompted enter a password. Just make up any combination Of letters and numbers until the join button pops out in blue. Click join.
Obviously it will fail and tell you the password is incorrect. Back out and now connect to your wifi network.
That's it, problem solved. Both my iPad and iPhone now automatically reconnect to my network when I unlock device.

    Try resetting your network settings:
Go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset network settings   and see if that solves the issue. If it doesn't:
Backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, with multiple networks, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

  • IPhone does not stay connected to TC.

I am posting here since the iPhone maintains its connections with all other WiFi routers (and my iMac).
The TC is new, replacing the Airport Extreme with whom the iPhone strayed connected.
The iPhone automatically reconnects to my iMac when I go out to my other office.
The iPhone even reconnects by itself in restaurants that I haunt...
but walk into my home where Time Capsule lives -- no WiFi connection unless I manually choose it in Settings.
My dear old PowerBook 12" maintains its connections perfectly with the TC.
Any ideas? Any mysterious TC settings I need to discover?
    Thank you in advance...

    Fixed!
I found a tip on the iPhone discussions group...
Just go to the WiFi section of Settings, touch the right blue arrow next to the network's name, then touch "Forget this Network" -- this resets the historical data.
Now go back to the WiFi section and touch the network's name to join it.
Your iPhone should automatically rejoin your TC network!

  • WRE54G does not stay connected

Router WRT54GS with extended antennas 7dbi, connected 4 wired devices, 3 computers and a network printer.  Expander WRE54G, 192.168.1.240.  Wireless devices, 2 laptops and a PC.  Wireless configuration WPA2, all firmware is updated.
2 story house, Expander downstairs, laptop even without the Expander works fine
Initially installed & setup the expander worked fine.  Every once in awhile begins flashing red, I pin the reset and push the auto configuration button and remains flashing red after cycling.  All wireless devices sill connected, except the Expander.
This has happened before and I hardwired the Expander to re-setup and then place back downstairs.  That happened about a month ago.
And since then, I decided to disable SSID broadcasting, so this maybe the problem.  And today my wireless for whatever reason could not be detected by the laptops or PC and I just opened the WRT54GS web control page and enabled SSID broadcasting and noticed I had 2 SSID ID's  I have no idea how this came about, it only shows on the Laptop running Vista.
And usually all my neighbors SSID's appear, for some reason not one was listed from either of my laptops.  Is it possible someone is nearby to disrupt or block SSID transmitting and a reason for my WiFi side to go down?
I did not have to recyle my router either and I got my wireless back up, just not the Expander.
I will enable the SSID broadcasting and see if that solves my particular problem with the WRE54G Expander.
Thanks a million, sorry due to the economy, I do not have the $$, Doc

Hmmm. Are you sure you got the WRE to work with WPA2 security? It doesn't support that. So I guess that would explain your WRE's sporadic performance but I thought it would never connect that way. As for your other problems, I think a good power cycle of your whole network would do wonders. Why are you needing the WRE? Sounds like you are getting plenty of signal without it...
