Airport doesn't recognize Wifi at night.

During the daylight hours everything works fine. My airport connects to my wifi network and recognizes surrounding ones. At night (some time between 8 and 10 it seems) it not only refuses to connect to my network, but it does not recognize any networks. Once or twice it shows mine but when I tried to connect it says there was a connection timeout.

A cordless phone in the area, microwave oven, or another nearby network is interfering with your wireless. Unfortunately, not much you can do about that.
If you have your own network setup, try experimenting with different channels on the router to see if that may help. If you are still running 10.5.x on your computer, you can download iStumbler, www.istumbler.net and use it to identify other nearby networks and the channels they are operating on. Change your channel to a setting this is as far from the other channels as possible.
Sometimes just moving the computer to a different location in the room can make a big difference. Wireless is a strange animal.

  • Airport doesn't recognize my network and/or shuts off.

When I use my Macbook 2008 with Snow Leopard, the Airport often shuts off  and/or doesn't recognize my network. What usually happens is first the network isn't recognized, then it shuts off completely. I have another Macbook 2008, same model, but with Leopard and no problems. They are both the same: 2.4 ghz core 2 duo.

Well, I found my own solution. Updated the Firefox server and problem solved.

  • X220 doesn't recognize Wifi-card

Hi everybody, I ran into some issues with my X220 some weeks back and have been trying to fix them to no avail. As far as I can remember I took some time a few weeks back to install the 1.40 firmware-update and also updated the battery-firmware in the same routine. I'm not sure If it was immediately afterwards (since I'm using a dock with LAN), but the wifi-card (Intel 6205) wasn't recognized by the OS anymore. No entry in the device manager! Here's what I've seen/tried so far:1) What I was firstly able ot see was that the device would sometimes show up after returning from sleep when not in the dock.2) Since I have an Ericson WWAN-card i switched mPCIe places. WWAN-card works in both slots. No recognition of the Wifi-card in both. >> So it doesn't seem to be related to mPCIe or the board.3) My guess was a faulty card, so I tried a newly-bought Intel 7260 Wifi-card in the slot.3.1) The Wifi-card must have been recognized by the BIOS, since the whitelist-fault was presented and I had to remove it to even be able to boot again.3.2) As the warranty wasn't my concern anymore anyways I flashed a whitelist-disabled version of the 1.40 firmware. As promised, I was able to boot with the 7260 card.3.3) Yet still, the card is not presented in the device manager.4) Since my Windows 7-installation had quite some time on its shoulders I reckoned that maybe another OS would be able to properly recognize the card. I just freshly installed Windows 10 and again - nothing is able to bring back the Wifi-card.5) I used a linux live distribution to check whether that one recognizes any of the the cards. It also wasn't able to see any of the two. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of issue? With best regards and a hopeful thanks in advance, Christian

    Update:
I used a debian live installation running from a pendrive to look for detected hardware. No wifi was found - again for both cards.
I'm really lost for ideas at this point. What really irritates me is that the BIOS/UEFI recognizes the 7260 card with correct VID and PID. Yet still the cards are somehow (I guess) not made available to the operating system.
On another note: I've just noticed that I posted in the wrong forum section. It's about an X220, so the "ThinkPad X Series Laptops" forum would be the correct one. Could a moderator maybe move this topic?

  • X201 Access Connections doesn't recognize WiFi card

    Hi
A week or so ago I ran Lenovo System Update, which prompted me to update the drivers for my WiFi card (Intel 6200-AGN). After the update Access Connections can no longer recognize the card. Windows still connects automatically to wireless networks through the built-in software, but Access Connections not working is really bothering me.
I've tried rolling back the wireless drivers (my current version is now 14.3.0.6, dated 10/27 2011), but with no luck. As far as I can see, there have been no updates to Access Connections for quite a while (it's hard to tell due to system update itself recently being updated), but is it worth a try uninstalling it and reinstalling an older version? My current version is 5.97, oddly the version listed on the support page for the x201-3626 is 5.62, but all my Lenovo software comes from Lenovo System Update.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's a new version AC related issue. Uninstall it and install previous version 5.93, manually.

  • Itunes button on iPhone doesn't recognize wifi connection

I recently syncronized my iPhone to add the iTunes button. Button appeared - all seemed fine. Went to a hot spot and got a pop up message asking if I wanted to connect to that wifi. I answered yes (settings showed that I was connected). But when I hit the purple itunes button, it says "cannot connect to iTunes store, must connect to a wifi network".

I have found the same problem with connecting to the iTunes store with an ACTIVE Wi-Fi connection. Everyone keeps responding in the same way. "Make sure you have a Wi-fi connection ..etc etc..blah blah blah.
Does everybody on here think that everyone else is stupid?
While giving these very complex and technical solutions to so many different Wi-Fi problems no one..and I mean NO ONE seems to be able to figure out this seemingly simple issue. BTW..when connected to my Airport(which is Wi-Fi) the itunes store connects with no problems.
    I commiserate with you!!!!
Also weak signal?...Nope. Tried inside close to the Wi-Fi router as well. And please. don't insult me with these dumb comments of.."what city are you in? Because the iTunes Starbucks connection is not everywhere yet" Sheesh!!!! Get a grip!!!!! IT'S WiFi PEOPLE!!!!!!!

  • IPad doesn't recognize wifi connection

I am connected to my home wifi but ipad2 says not connected to the internet. If I switch to cellular data I can connect. I tried resetting my network settings but no change.

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPad a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the "i" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • I just installed update version 11.1.4.62.  Now Itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad.  My wife just installed the same version with the same result.  The problem is clearly a problem with itunes.  What's wrong with itunes?

I was running the previous version of itunes and it worked perfectly.  I just installed the latest version of itunes (version 11.1.4.62) and restarted the PC and now itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or my ipad.  I'm running Windows 8.1 on my pc.  I tried diagnostics to no avail.  The diagnostic didn't recognize either device.  As the directions advised, I closed itunes, disconnected the devices and stopped and restarted the apple  mobile device service,  That didn't work either.  My wife, who also has Windows 8.1, has the same problem.  She installed the new version and it doesn't recognize her devices.
Until now, itunes has been totally reliable.  I am convinced the problem is with itunes.  Where do I go from here?

I resolved the issue by doing the following:
    1. Uninstall iTunes and every Apple application (device support and such).
    2. Uninstall bonjour.
    3. Reboot.
    4. Go to Apple and install iTunes.
It worked.  When I opened iTunes (after reinstalling) it recognized all my devices, music and video.

How do I get Itunes to recognize it.  I spent a lot of time recording my old cassetes and don't want to start all over again.  I just want to get back to where I was.

  • Mini doesn't recognize airport

My mini doesn't recognize the airport card. I have restarted my rounter, modem and my mac but no luck. All software on my Mini is up to date and other computers are connected to the network. The network tab in System Preferences doesn't give me an option to connect to airport.

In this thread, your first post suggests you are running MacOS 10.4.8, but the second that you have 10.4.10. If you are running the latter, did the Airport work before and since stop? Perhaps around the time of the update?
Do you see any sign of Airport, such as the empty fan in the menu bar?
In the network preferences (and I apologize, I don't presently have a Mac running Tiger to test this on), when you click to add an interface and select Airport, does it then show the hardware to be present?
Some time ago I was tracking a series of posts on www.macfixit.com which related to Airport issues in 10.4.10. It was suggested that if the Airport card was not recognized, to try an SMC reset (Intel Systems) or PMU Reset (PPC minis) Other issues could occasionally be resolved by removal of AppleAirport.kext, AppleAirport2.kext and AppleAiport3.kext files from the >System>Library>Extensions folder, but you would need a source of rreplacements, either from your existing MacOS install disk or the latest Airport Updater downloaded from Apple. In either case you'd need a utility called Pacifist to extract just those files. Sadly I don't have a Tiger system on hand to test that out at present.
One troubleshooting step you might try is to create a new user account on the system and see if that account can 'see' the Airport card, thus indicating an issue at the user rather than systemwide level.
It is a good sign however that the Airport hardware is seen by the profiler. Basically that means it's failure in the system is software.

  • New Mac Mini doesn't recognize airport card

I have a new mac mini, leopard, 1.8G c2duo, and have finally resolved some display issues. Now it doesn't recognize my airport card. Ideas?

If the airport card doesn't appear in the System Profiler (select 'About this Mac' in the Apple menu, then click the 'more info' button, then click 'Airport Card' down the left hand side) then the mini likely has a hardware problem and would be in need of repair/replacement. On the other hand, if the Airport Card shows up there, the system clearly can see the card, but it then means there is likely a problem with MacOS or a setting - in which case if you could describe the symptom (ie, where it is you are not seeing the card) then it may be possible to resolve.

  • Airport extreme doesn't recognize airport express remotes

Airport utility doesn't recognize airport express remotes in my network even though they appear to be working. Any ideas how to fix this?

You don't need to download drivers to the Airport Extreme Base Station.
However, you may have to download and install a printer driver on your Mac - if Epson's web site has a newer version than the one built into OS X (which is version 3.09).
You could also try using the alternate "Stylus Photo R340 - Gutenprint" driver built into MacOS 10.5.

  • Suddenly iPad mini doesn't recognize my wifi

    IPad suddenly doesn't recognize wifi

Try to reboot your ipad? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again
You can also try to power cycle your router. Unplug the power to the router, count to ten, plug it back in and let it reboot and try again.
