Every time use my Imac I have to find my network and then apply the password, I had hoped that that OSX would automatically find network an log on. I do not have this problem with my macbook.

It should work just as it does with your MacBook.
There are a variety of troubleshooting steps to try, the first being to delete your network from your list of known networks in your Network preference pane, close the preference pane, then reopen it and add it back.

My iMac does not connect when waking from sleep. I have to turn the airport off and on every time. Its been doing it since last October when i installed Lion. I had hoped it would be fixed with an update but no such luck. I have seen similar posts but no suggestions to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

Searching the web for "appcode.hex" the first item that I found was for something related to an Olevia TV.

  • Signal keeps dropping out when "waking up" from sleep state

When I reboot or reset my network settings,my Iphone 6 gets 5 bars with 3G (with 4g disabled or enabled). But when I LOCK THE PHONE and wait for maybe 1 minute and unlock it, the signal drops to 1 bar, search network and restore to 5 bars.It happens every time I lock the Iphone! I tried already restoring (IOS 8.1.3) and upgrading to 8.2, switching off and resetting network data. Nothing works, I look like it stays in a "low power mode", and when it wakes up the internet come back after searching for the network...I can not use internet immediatly. And this is happening when I am using it too! When I lock the phone, my nightmare start, with the network disconnecting and connecting,

    Hi,
I am coming from the MacBook faction, but there were similar posts in there, regarding at least your picture#2, the vertical colored lines.
The consensus was (and I cannot write from own experience here, just relaying the message) that this has something to do with system parameters. To rewrite these parameters, one has to set a different screen resolution than the current one and save the settings and then go back to the old resolution again and save the settings as well. We were told, this would prevent the colored vertical line issue, at least for the MacBook.
Worth a try, it is easy enough to do.

  • AirPort drops connection after waking up from sleep?

Hi, this situation only occurs on my university campus. My university has a 802.11b wireless network. It makes up about 28 hotspots blanketing the entire main campus, it has a 128bit WEP encryption 26hex and a proxy.
If I attempt to connect the first time, I would get connected. Once I put it to sleep then wake it up, it loses the connection and I would not be able to reconnect (while being bombarded with the error message, "There was an error joining the AirPort name 'xxxxx'") until approximately one hour has passed.
All troubleshooting steps have been tried (deleting p.list files, caches, keychains, reseting AirPort, reseting PMU and PRAM, reformatting HD, you name it, it's been done by my university's computer staff and by a Genius).
I'm currently frustrated not only I can't resolve this issue, but there's finger-pointing from both sides (Apple Genius blaming my Temple Univ wireless network, then Temple blaming on my AirPort's drivers/hardware) and there's nothing conclusive I can prove to both sides (not to mention my MacBook is only 1 week old and only 2 people including me have reported this issue at Temple). I have done one experiment to show that my home Linksys router with 128bit WEP encryption works flawlessly and to testify saying that the previous Core Duo MacBook I had work flawlessly with the Temple wireless network.
    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
This may not actually "solve" the problem, but it may help you bypass it. On my MacBook, I have a network location called "No Networking". I use this location in between some other networks when I have trouble switching (for example, I can switch from my home AirPort network location to my work Ethernet location without any problems, but I can't seem to go the other direction). The "No Networking" location has ALL of the network ports disabled. This is also helpful if you're on an airplane or somewhere you know you won't be using the network because the AirPort card and the Ethernet port actually use battery power to run if you're not plugged into the AC power. So, turning off the ports saves you a few minutes on battery power. So, when I arrive at home, I switch from my "Work Ethernet" location to my "No Networking" location, pause for a couple of seconds and then select my "Home AirPort" location and everything seems to be fine.
To do this, open the Network System Preferences and use the "Location" pop-up menu to create a "New Location". Give your new location a name like "No Networking". Then select "Network Port Configuration" from the "Show" pop-up menu. Uncheck every port and click the "Apply Now" button.
I have a different network location for each of my possible networking options I encounter. When I have trouble moving between two, I just select the "No Networking" location from the Apple menu and then I select the right network. See if that doesn't help some.

  • Airport crashes with Leopard after waking from Sleep mode

So I've always had airport issues (1st gen intel) and I was hoping Leopard might help, but now my airport shuts down every time the computer sleeps and it cannot be turned on. I have to shut down the comupter and turn it back on (restart doesn't work).
    Any ideas?

I spoke with Tech Support this morning. Apparently this is a known issue with Lion. I found it interesting that the rep insisted on saying that "it is the way Lion functions" instead of admitting that it is a GLITCH in the programming. He even said that it happens randomly and not on all computers and not all users experience this. That ought to tell you that it's a glitch.  Anyway, there is a "workaround" which is what you do to put a bandage on a persistent wound that should really get surgically stitched:
You either have to log out every time you leave the laptop, or you have to change Energy saver preference to set the display to go to sleep AFTER the computer is set to log out (in Security preferences).
Here is the article that instructs us on applying the bandage::
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4135?viewlocale=en_US
Suffice it to say that Apple does not plan on stitching this one up any time soon..

  • In Mountain Lion how to keep Dashboard from opening each time awakening from sleep?

Every time awakening from sleep and/or screen saver, the dashboard screen comes up as the opening display, how can I stop this?

    Nope.
If you launch Mail, you get mail.
You can only stop if from loading if your DON'T launch Mail.
You can also decide how much to have it load, and how far back.
The other option is to turn off Wifi before you launch Mail.

  • HT3728 every time my iMac sleeps or restarts it loses the connection to airport express and i must reset and connect with router via ethernet cable.

Every time my imac sleeps or restarts it loses the wireless connection with my airport express (used for streaming music). I then have to disconnect the airport express from my stereo, bring it to my router, connect it to my router with ethernet cable and reset the wireless connection. Even with my airport express  in the same room as my router Airport Utility cannot find it until i plug in an ethernet cable, so i do not think this is an issue with my wireless network. Router is a newer netgear.

    Hi there frustrated newbie 2014,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.

  • Airport drops out randomly

    Hello..
Am trying to get to the bottom of why my airport drops out at random times roughly once every hour. I then just need to select my router again and it reconnects.
This isn't a massive dilemma unless i'm downloading a large file - can't leave it over night to download.
Is more of a gripe than a complaint - is just annoying when it happens.
    Any ideas?

I have a 2 week old MacBook and am experiencing the exact same problem. I can make it happen more frequently by downloading a large file (220mb) from the 'net. Still have not been able to retrieve that file. If anyone knows what the **** is going on-please let me know -> [email protected]
I may try adjusting (or fixing) the transmission channel of the router as I have several other wireless networks in the immediate vicinity. But the fact that I can make it drop by trying to pull down a large file speaks to other problems.
One thing - in my widgets I have the iStat window running that displays numerous operating data. It is interesting the temperature of the Airport Card - according to the window- is running 142 - 151 degrees, much much warmer than all the other components WHEN I try to download the big file. ANd the conneciton was dropped when the temp exceeded 151 degrees.
As I type this the temperature has dropped to 130 degrees.
Is anyone else running the iStat widget and seeing the same thing.

  • Drop outs every few hours

    Hi all
hope someone can help as i am coming to the end of my tether with my BT Faster Broadband connection
it drops out every few hours and has done for almost 2 months.  i cant watch a movie or play a game without losing connection at least once, maybe twice if i am really unlucky.
i got a new hh5 a little while ago and was fine for a while. then the problems started - dropping 2 or 3 times a day.  contacted bt and they sent a replacement hh5. no change.  eventually in the last few days got worse and its now sometimes dropping at least a dozen times a day, rendering my connection little short of useless.
almost convinced it was a hh5 issue as they seemed to take an age to resynch, so bought an asus dsl-n66u and crossed my fingers.
soon enough, connection dropped again and again.
i have tried 3 different cables, between router and socket, removed the openreach faceplate and plugged a new filter  in to the test socket.  connected for around 4 hours and droped again.
Connection details from the Asus, with the filter in the master socket - the same as with the openreach filter (as you can see i lost connection again not so long ago.

The OR modem is a couple of years old, not sure of the exact model as it's mounted on the wall behind a piano.  Not used it since we have the HH5 or the Asus, but as i said earlier, the same happens with the OR modem plugged in to the WAN socket on the Asus and the HH5

  • Airport Card turned off when resuming from sleep - New since 10.6.6

I use safe sleep regularly, as I use my laptop at both work and home. Ever since the update to 10.6.6 though, I have had to manually turn my Airport connection back on after resuming from sleep.
Previously, although it was unreliable about connecting to a preferred network (an unrelated, but equally frustrating issue*) at least it would remain on. Now I've had to add the icon to my Menu bar just so I don't have to dig into System Preferences every single time I reawaken my laptop.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and if there is anything I can do to prevent it? I apologize if this has been asked before, but when I searched I was unable to find anything.
*This issue is unrelated and not the focus of my post, but if you happen to know about it I would absolutely appreciate your input.
When resuming from sleep, despite being between 5-20 feet from my preferred router I will often receive a dialog asking me to select from a list of SSIDs and enter a password even though that information is already saved. Then, once I complete this information Airport doesn't actually connect and the only way to resolve the issue is to turn Airport off and then back on. After this, it will automatically connect with no problems and remain connected until I put the computer into Sleep mode again.

Maybe check in your keychain and verify the password saved is correct for your wireless router?
Do you broadcast the network name?
Could you describe "unreliable about connecting to a preferred network"?
Is "use secure virtual memory" checked in the Security preference pane? If so try unchecking that maybe? If it's a hibernation issue sometimes that could cause weirdness.

  • Broadband keeps dropping out - every 20 mins or so...

This is getting beyond a joke now so really hope someone can help fix this for me.  The broadband started dropping out every 20 mins or so about 6 weeks ago and is just getting worse.  Any moderators reading this - if I can't get it sorted I'm leaving BT.
Have read a few posts and I think this is the info I need to provide.
    I have a Home Hub 3.
Speed test on the line gives download speed of 4.85Mbps and an IP profile of 5.87Mbps.
Upstream test gives 1.18Mbps and a Rate IP profile of 0.83Mbps
I performed the quiet line test and the line was perfectly quiet with no crackles or hisses.
    The ADSL stats are below.
Anything anyone can do to help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Phil

I'm trying to setup a printer go wireless through my airport extreme, but every time I try to print the printing file gets paused. I'm in loop. PLEASE HELP! (The printer is a Brother 7020  monochrome)

I had the exact same problem
It turns out I was using a 20 foot USB cable between the printer and the Airport Extreme and the signal had become to weak to work. Try using nothing more than a 6 foot cable or try a new cable

If you have a credit card on file on top of your gift card then it is asking you to confirm the security code for the card, which for a Visa or MasterCard is 3 digits located on the back, or AMEX has 4 digits on the front.  This happens just to ensure that you are the account holder, and would happen from time to time whether it was a free or paid app, even if you have a credit through your gift card.  This doesn't mean that your credit card will be charged.
