Airport drops out from router

Airport cannot access router wifi. (Imac)
However my Iphone and my printer can pair with router

An airport router will not easily wireless connect to another router unless it is apple brand.
If you mean something else please spell out full details.
What airport? Please give the model number from the base.
What wifi router? Again actual make and model.

  • Airport drops out randomly

    Hello..
Am trying to get to the bottom of why my airport drops out at random times roughly once every hour. I then just need to select my router again and it reconnects.
This isn't a massive dilemma unless i'm downloading a large file - can't leave it over night to download.
Is more of a gripe than a complaint - is just annoying when it happens.
    Any ideas?

I have a 2 week old MacBook and am experiencing the exact same problem. I can make it happen more frequently by downloading a large file (220mb) from the 'net. Still have not been able to retrieve that file. If anyone knows what the **** is going on-please let me know -> [email protected]
I may try adjusting (or fixing) the transmission channel of the router as I have several other wireless networks in the immediate vicinity. But the fact that I can make it drop by trying to pull down a large file speaks to other problems.
One thing - in my widgets I have the iStat window running that displays numerous operating data. It is interesting the temperature of the Airport Card - according to the window- is running 142 - 151 degrees, much much warmer than all the other components WHEN I try to download the big file. ANd the conneciton was dropped when the temp exceeded 151 degrees.
As I type this the temperature has dropped to 130 degrees.
Is anyone else running the iStat widget and seeing the same thing.

Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!
I hope this helps, because it was incredibly frustrating. Good luck!

  • AirTunes audio keep dropping out from my AE streaming...

I am using 3AE's for streaming audio from iTunes wirelessly. Been working fine but started dropping audio out intermittently. When it happens, the airtunes control shows no names for thoes AE's dropped out... but I see placeholders. Sometimes never come back and have to restart my iTunes... It's super annoying this happening to me. Is there anyting I can do to address this issue? Anyone?

    Hi.
    *Here's what worked for me.*
(sorry this is a double post here and in another topic).
In a nutshell : I *did a factory reset of my Airport Express base station* (saved and restored the Express's profiles) *and everything went back to normal.*
I had a perfectly working setup for about a year and a half (Airport Extreme-monoband as a router with a 5 Ghz only 802.11n network, plus a 802.11n Airport Express in bridge mode, connected to the Extreme via an Ethernet cable, and creating a 2.4Ghz 802.11n/g/b network).
The Extreme/5Ghz network is the fastest. My Macs, iPad and AppleTv are wirelessly (except for the Mac mini which is wired to it) connected to this Extreme/5Ghz network.
My iPhone 4 and iPod (latest) cannot connect to the 5Ghz network and connect to the Airport Express/2.4Ghz slower network.
Everything worked very well, including Airplay in all directions, including video from iTunes, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to my Apple TV, and audio to my sterero system plugged to the Airport Express.
Until 1 week ago : Everything from the iPod touch or iPhone started to fail : video to Apple TV rarely worked, and audio through Airport Express had a lot of drops out.
Internet access speed from the iPod and iPhone was very slow, as confirmed by internet speed testing apps.
Everything going through the Extreme/5Ghz network continued to work flawlessly, including video to Apple TV and audio to Airport Express.
If I connected the Macs or iPad through the Express/2.4Ghz network, problems appeared there too.
Connecting them to the Extreme/5Ghz network had the problems disappeared.
After reading some posts in another discussion, I factory reset the Airport Express using the Aiport Utility (actually first export profiles; then factory reset, then reimport profiles).
Everything is smooth as silk now.
It it starts failing again, I will just factory reset the Airport Express.
Let's just hope that Apple a firmware fix in a not too distant future ...
    Hope this helps,
    Jérôme.

  • Airport drops outs

    Hello

This seems very annoying as it happens several times a day.
any thoughts and am I not the only one?

When I experienced the same problem, I found out the problem was caused by
steel studs in the wall near the hub. That interfered with the computers on the one side of the wall but not on the other side.
We moved the hub in a different location and the problem stopped completely.

  • How to stop ipod touch dropping out from reading email, then displaying main menu

My wife's Ipod touch (4 or 5 years old) has worked fine for years, but now when reading emails, without touching the screen or any controls, the ipod drops out of the application and displays the main menu after a few seconds. Have rebooted it a couple of times, but the fault persists.
Ipod is a 16Gb with 10.4 Gb available
Does anyone know how I can solve this problem ?

Many thanks for your quick reply. The full reset has cured the problem.
    Thanks again

  • Airport Drop outs every time IMAcCwakes from Sleep

Every time use my Imac I have to find my network and then apply the password, I had hoped that that OSX would automatically find network an log on. I do not have this problem with my macbook.
    Many Thanks

It should work just as it does with your MacBook.
There are a variety of troubleshooting steps to try, the first being to delete your network from your list of known networks in your Network preference pane, close the preference pane, then reopen it and add it back.

  • AirPort drop out

Does anyone else ever have the problem where the AirPort just randomly loses connection? The signal indicator in the top bar of the screen drops from 5 bars to 4 (even the the AirPort sits right next to the computer) and I lose all connectivity. I cannot access webpages and iTunes stops playing through the speakers attached to the AirPort. My computer still says I am connected to the AirPort however. If I turn the AirPort card off and then turn it back on, my AirPort Express is no longer listed.
Equally as often, I have the problem where my AirPort Express is listed in my AirPort connections that I can connect to, but when I select it I get the error message "There was an error connecting to the AirPort......"
These both happen on average 4 times a day. I have the 6.3 update and I keep trying to change different preferences and things to help, but to no avail.
    Any ideas?

The problem is not with the Airport card. I have Express with 2 macs on the network. One using the old Airport card and one using the New Airport card. When I lose connection, I lose it on both. I just added a PC laptop with it's own wi-fi card and it does the same. When I lose connection it is for all 3 machines. That narrows it to either the Airport Express or the Cable Modem or the actual cable signal. I get no change in the cable modem lights when the system goes out, so I strongly suspect the fault lies with the Airport express.
Sometimes the signal comes back on it's own, sometimes I can re-configure airport express and get it back, sometimes I have to unplug airport express for a short time before I can reconfigure.
A common failure warning is that the Airport card in my computer is 'out of range' of the Airport express when they are about 3 feet apart.

  • Airport dropping out Reason 8

    Hi all,
I've been experiencing frequent drops of internet connection on my mac pro.
It is connected wirelessly to an airport express station. I looked thru messages in Console and found that "reason 8 ( disassociarted because station leaving)" appears to be the cause behind dropped connections. We also have 2 mbp, 2 iphones and 1 iPad hooked up to the system, and only the Mac pro eperiences dropped connections. I read through many threads, it seems that "reason 8" is frequently mentioned, though no one seem to have any solutions.
so I guess I am throwing this out there again, does anyone know of any solutions?
I'm running on n network, and pro is on 10.8.5.
    thanks

    Update :
I found out that of all the devices linked to my wifi, my 5 years old WII seemed to be the culprit. It only supports 802.11a, and all my other devices support upto 802.11n, I read somewhere that having a device on the network with older standard may interfere with overall wifi signal. So I turned off WII, and wifi signal to Pro has been uninterrupted ever since. =D
    Hope this helps

  • My home sharing is not working - connection is dropping out from iMac to iOS devices

I have a 2011 iMac running Mountain Lion, and am having real problems accessing my itunes library with my iOS devices (I had the same problem with Apple TV before I bought a set of power line adapters and now running an Ethernet into it). I keep my iMac on all the time, but every day I have to quit then reopen iTunes for any chance of accessing my content on my iPhone or iPad. Otherwise Even when the 'sharing' icon is there on my devices (which it always is) it just hangs when I press it. I have had this problem for over a year, but have only just starting wanting to access my library from iPad. I am using AirPort Extreme as a base station.
    Any ideas?

Powerline adapters use your home powerlines (mains a/c) to connect your devices via ethernet to your modem, they're easy to set up and the they TOTALLY fixed my ATV problem, the problem seems to be with the wireless. I've been trawling through apple discussions, and did found a workaround to my problem https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4222883?start=0&tstart=0
but its just a workaround :/

  • Airport drops out intermittently

    15" MacBook Pro, 2.66Ghz Core i7. OS X 10.6.4.
This is a relatively new machine (about 2 months old).
Every so often the wireless network stops working, and when I check
the airport status in the top bar, it shows no bars
(normally full bars - the Mac is about 8 feet away from my
WAP). I have to turn airport off and on again to get the
    network back.
This happens sometimes once in a week, sometimes a couple
    times a day.
It's not the WAP. There are 3 other Macs in the house, all significantly
further away from the WAP, and they have no such problems.
    Anyone....?
    Thanks,
    /jim

Check your signal strength while you are connected and consider the other tips in ¶6 here if needed:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2601
If the signal is weak on your new MBP, try moving or rotating its position a couple inches at a time and testing between moves. Sometimes moving even 6 or 8 inches can drastically reduce interference.
If nothing you try from these suggestions helps, ask your retailer to repair your new MBP while it is still under warranty.

  • Audio dropped out from thunderbolt cable to hdmi to monitor speakers

Audio was working fine from my Asus ve247 and my xbox plays it fine via hdmi so I know the monitor is still good. So this seems to have happened after an update.
I would like to know if there is anything I can do to restore the opportunity.

When something similar happened to me, I just restarted the Mac, then went to Sys Prefs >> Sound >> Output and all I had to do was choose HDMI. It was right there in the speakers list after the restart (with cable connected). Worked fine then. Did you try restarting with the hardware attached?

  • Sync Issues and Audio Drop-out from FCP to DVD Studio Pro

I have edited a piece in FCP 5.1.4 and all audio/video is in perfect sync. I have been using this program for several years with no issues, until now. Upon exporting with compressor and importing into DVD Studio Pro, the audio is out of sync by 15 seconds and after that first 15 seconds there is simply NO audio, period.
Any ideas? Please send the calvary...tight deadline and the hanging rope is getting shorter and shorter by the minute!
    Thanks

Could be something got corrupted in DVD SP (preferences). I have had my audio act strangely and playback getting bogged down. Repairing permissions and deleting prefs works for this one for me. Did you do any recent upgrades to the OS or QuickTime?

  • Mobile hotspot drops out from ubuntu every 45 seconds

I found this post that describes my problem exactly: click here for the similar post
'which claims that uninstalling "linux-backport-modules" is the fix.
The problem is, when I go into synaptic package manager none of the many packages that are titled with "linux-backport-modules" as a prefix are installed at all?
    I'm running lucid lynx 64
    Clarifications?! New fix?!
    Please help ^_^

    Please, see this post.
The solution you mention for Ubuntu is only a workaround. I think the problem should be fixed by palm in the hotstop app.

  • Airport extreme drops out on imac, but not on powerbook....

    Hi
    Here's what i have running.
A 4 year old powerbook which always connects just fine to the internet, with no dropping of the signal.
A new imac with a airport extreme built in. It regularly just drops the internet connection, even though the internet is seen perfectly by the other machine.
Router is a standard netgear router virgin media provide.
Periodically, and some days it will be totally fine, but mostly on the weekends (like now) the signal on the imac just drops out (from perfect 4 bars, to none) and i lose access to the internet on this machine (very annoying when you are trying to talk to someone on skype!). after some time it reappears, only to drop out again.
I have reset the modem to automatically select a wireless channel, but that seems to have done nothing. So following the advise on other chats here, i set the channel to 10. However the problem remains. I thought, well, maybe its the wireless phone, or the microwave, but these do not seem to affect the internet connection to the powerbook g4. The software updater for the "airport utility" claims it is up to date.
And now i am totally lost as to what to do! Any suggestions? Thanks

I have this very same issue. Reproducable on 2 laptops (ibook and powerbook), both 10.4.3, to 2 separate ftp servers.
    Transmit fails as well.
Fetch, however, seems to work just fine. Does Fetch not use the underlying ftp command line app?
Transferring small files (under 1k) seems to work though.
The message I get is as follows:
421 Service not available, remote server timed out. Connection closed
Timesout for 10-20 seconds, then I get the message. Setting the transfer mode to "binary" manually seems to correct the issue. But this won't work for what I'm doing (Dreamweaver, which must use the command line ftp?).
Attempting to ftp the same files from my local Solaris and Linux servers seems to work just fine.
    sftp works.
    Apple? Is ftp broken?
