I have an Epson Stylus R280 on an Airport Express.
When I wait a day or so and then go to print, I always have to unplug the Airport Express and plug it in again to get the printer to print. I have the newest driver for the printer.

Is this message box indicating the Airport Express is re-connecting to your internet service and if so, is this Airport Express connected to a DSL internet service that uses the PPPoE protocol to connect? If so, run the Airport Admin Utility, select your Express, click on the Configure button, click on the Internet tab, and check the box to "always stay connected". Update settings to the Airport Express.

It seems that each time I reboot my macBook, my airport express needs to rebooted to be detected. I use it for streaming music only- not for internet access- and have it configured accordingly. Airport express in another room needs to be on all the time!

I'm running airport express on my stereo in my bedroom. it needs to always be "on" so i don't have to get out of bed to select which audio output is active. is this possible? please help.

The only difference is the installation method and the ownership verification. The program still is installed on and runs from your local machine. You only have to hook up to the internet every 60-90 days to verify ownership.

My IPad sound keeps turning off. I have checked all the settings nd they are ok. I have to reset it all the time. It is very frustrating as I use it as an alarm, need I say I've waken late a few times.

It is amazing that Apple does nothing about this. It used to work before but this function (keep me logged in) stopped working a couple of months ago. Many people seem to have the same problem but Apple seems unable to solve their own problems...

Airport Express as Print Server

I have a PC (which has no wireless card) that is connected by ethernet to Airport Extreme BS, which is also connected to cable modem. I also have an Airport Express, which I would like to use as a wireless print server. Can I print from the PC (which has no wireless card but is connect by ethernet to the AX)? I have tried to set it up, but the PC can't find the Airport Express. How do I get it to "find" the AE?

I have a PC (without a wireless card) which is connected to an Airport Extreme Base Station to create wireless internet access in my house. Separately, I have an Airport Express (which is NOT connected to my main PC or any computer). I would like to connect my USB printer to the Airport Express and keep those in a separate room (again ... not connected to the PC). Can the PC print wirelessly via the Airport Extreme Base Station to the printer which is connected to a separate Airport Express (keeping in mind that the PC does not have a wireless card but is connected to the Airport Extreme Base Station)? I'm sorry for the questions ... I'm a little technically challenged and new to Apple products. By the way, setting up the Airport Extreme Base Station was incredibly easy! In conclusion, I cannot get the PC to "find" the Airport Express (maybe because the PC does not have a separate wireless card ???) ... and therefore I have a blinking amber light on the Airport Express.

Does external HD have to be on all the time?

So I have an external drive I'm using for Time Machine. It tends to run hot if I leave it on all the time (passive cooling enclosure- no fan). Plus it's extra noise around my otherwise nearly silent mac.
So I've been turning it off and on, and usually when I turn it on the activity light starts blinking and Time Machine goes to backing up. Tonight I connected the drive and it shows up under finder but isn't doing anything. Do I need to send some command to start the backup? (I added some photos today I wanted to backup).
Do I need to leave it on all the time? Most of the external HDs I see these days don't have a cooling fan- I'm not sure if they are supposed to be on all the time. I'm looking at upgrading to a 500GB WD My Book drive, (using a 120GB drive already 80GB full after one week) but it doesn't have a fan either.

I leave mine off and turn it on only when I want to backup (once per day). You can manually start the backup from System Preferences or if you enabled the icon on the Main menu, from it.

Airport express as print server - how?

I was using an Airport Express with a (non-wireless) router supplied by my ISP for wireless broadband and wireless printing with no problems at all for a year or so. Then the router died, and my ISP provided a free replacement wireless router. This now provides my wireless access. I've connected the Express to the router using an Ethernet cable, with the printer (Epson 2100) connected to the Express as before. However I have only been able to print succesfully once or twice, and now nothing happens at all. I've reinstalled the printer driver and tried gimp-print to no avail. Is there any solution to this?

Airport Express as print-server when a client to a router

I just successfully connected an Airport to my existing wireless network. It is in "client" mode under DHCP.
My goal is to use it as a print-server in my mixed windows and mac network. The printer is a Minolta Magicolor QMS 2300, connected via USB.
Following the Airport directions, I created a new Standard TCP/IP port. I entered the same IP as was assigned to the Airport by my DHCP-serving wireless router.
However... no joy. My print-jobs never seem to get there.
Any assistance would be MUCH appreciated.

Thanks. I'll try that. I did try connecting AX directly to the router, which didn't do anything to help. I gave up when directions said to use Airport Utility to configure, because I assumed AU needed to communicate wirelessly with AX, and my Macs don't have wireless cards. So I'll continue the steps with AU and see what happens. Again, thanks for the hint.

Don't know, how did you hook it up (what kind of cable)? You can send audio through an HDMI connection provided a MacBook Pro is (I believe) from 2009 or newer.
Converting to VGA or DVI will not send audio - if you're using that kind of connection, you'll need to add an audio cable from the headphones port.
Also check the Sound Out setting in the Sounds panel of System Preferences.

CLV, I hope you are doing well and welcome to the HP forums;
What you are experiecing happends, most of the time due to your cookies (information that the browser saves to use later when you access the site again) have been erase during that period.
So the computer does not have recollection of the information you can select not to erase that particular one how to this varies form browser to browser A quick Google serch will help you with that.

Myinfotopic has appeard and now I have adds popping up all the time that I don't want. I feel infected. How can I get rid of it

I really have liked Firefox but now I am having a lot of problems with "myinfotopic" and all the adds that pop up unwanted. I don't know how it got in my computer and I can find no way to get rid of it. I have a service called Answers by Technical Support and they say the problem comes from your website and they can't fix it. There is an add the runs across the bottom of the screen and before I updated Firefox it would just stay on the screen and obscure whatever I was looking at. There would also be adds that would slip out from the side of the screen on each website I went to. Both types of adds could be removed but there was always another one that popped up when I went to a new site. Also, before I updated Firefox pages would just start opening automatically and I have no idea where they were coming from.
On your browser I also have the security warning coming up 2 times every time I go to my start page to try a new search for something..
I like your browser better than any I have tried but I will have to change if you can't help me fix this.
Please advise what I can do.

Try removing these extensions:
* AllCCheeappPreiicie
* DownSave
Open the Add-ons page using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. If they can be removed great, if they can only be disabled, disable them for the moment.
Usually a link will appear above a disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the add-ons page and click the link as the last step.

Have windows 7 and I think it is 32 bit.

I believe I may have had the same problem. What I did was remove flash completely from my computer (All files and folders) and did a fresh install. That seemed to fix the problem for me. If you don't know how to do that, google removal of flash and fresh install. Adobe has it all laid out for you. I hope that works for you.
