Airport Express (AX) not found after restart....driving me mad, please help...!

I tried to search for this issue but never found the solution. In the meantime, it drives me mad......so please do respond if you know the answer.
Here is the problem. I have a WDS setup for our home, time capsule as base and several airport extremes (AX) for the wifi net through the house. In addition there is one AX for iTunes and I have one setup for the printer. Untill last week everything worked just fine. However, after installing a new printer, the printer AX blinked amber. I performed a reset and went through the setup, my AirPort Utility found it right away. I followed the steps for setting it up to join my current wireless network (usb printer). However, after the message: "The settings for this AirPort Express have been successfully updated. You can close this window or wait for this AirPort Express to restart" , the AX restarted, I finally got a message telling me there was an error joining my network. So I closed the ultility, resetted the AX and went through the process again. Unfortunately, the same result. Tried to connect the old printer, same result. Tried another AX, same result. Tried connecting it with a LAN cable, same result. It all goes fine untill right after the restart phase. NExt the AX is not recognized.
As nothing has been changed in the meantime, I have no clue at all what might be the problem. Anyone ????

Second AirPort Express Basisstation not found after update

Hello!
I'm trying to set a second AEBS in client mode (as defined on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108040), because I want to use it for AirTunes while I'm connected to the Internet thru the other AEBS I've had.
I'm following the instructions founded in the support-sites: I do a hard reset for my second AEBS and then configure it with the AirPort Utility (latest version) to use the existing network of my first AEBS.
Everything is ok *ONLY if I let the network unprotected*!
As soon as I try to use some kind of protection (thru WPA/WPA2 and password or by hiding the name of the network or even restricting the computers aloud to access the network thru the MAC-adresses), the second AEBS couldn't be founded anymore after the update.
I've tried this from my MacMini PPC running Leopard and from a pre-latest MBP running Tiger ... both succesless!
Do you have any advice?

File not found after restart

Hello,
We have a web application that reads in a .ini file. This works great. But, when we have to restart tomcat (for example after the database has been restarted) sometimes tomcat throws a file not found exception for that file. The only way to get rid of that exception is removing the deployed diurectory of the web application and start tomcat again so it deploys the the application again. The .ini file doesn't leave its place and is always there.

I have an Airport Extreme serving as my wireless router with an external hard drive connected to it. I also have an Airport Express in another room connected to a stereo for Airplay. Neither can be found on the Airport Utility (v5.5.3), but wireless internet still works. This happens often, with both reappearing in Airport Utility for short amounts of time periodically. What's the deal? Both the Extreme and Express are less than 6 months old. It's a bit frustrating not getting tunes when you have everything set up right and not being able to use Time Machine consistently.
All recommendations appreciated.

I've once had the same problem.
The reason for that issue is the frequency (radio band) hopping of the station.
On your AP-Extreme
Enter the manual setup
Disable Guest Network if not desperately needed
Set a dedicated name for the 5GHz wireless (wireless -> wireless options)
Eventually change the radio mode (if no 802.11b/g systems in your home) to "only 802.11n (5GHz) - only 802.11n (2.4GHz)" by holding down the option key *alt* while clicking on the drop down.
On your Mac
Disable (switch off) wireless
Enter system configuration -> network -> wireless
Uncheck "Ask to join new networks"
Enter advanced options and check that your wireless name is in the first position of the list. If not, drag it with the mouse to the first position.
Click apply
Join your wireless again and try to connect to the 5GHz name (SSID) because the 5GHz will improve the connection speed of your Mac remarkably.
Eventually you might change the settings on the Express too.
Check the location of the AP-Extreme.
It should NOT be placed: On the floor, in a corner, behind furniture, near metal objects, life high voltage wire or cordless phone bases.
It should be placed: As high as possible (up on a shelf or ceiling mounted) with a maximum line of sight to all stations, even thru walls.
If your home situation allows that, try to use the 5GHz band only. If you own a iPhone this must use the 2.4GHz radio.

The only thing you can buy legitimately is the computer and the basic discs that are necessary to operate it. All Apple apps over and above this cannot be legally sold on. The machine should have been completely wiped and the original OS re-installed, bringing the machine to its original factory condition. iPhoto and Garage band were part of OS 10.6.8. Snow Leopard.
You must not use the original owner's ID.

BOOTCAMP Suddenly not working after a year...Please help

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I need help with the BOOTCAMP hard drive on my mac. I had this macbook for over a year now and when I first got it I installed the BOOTCAMP hardrive and since it has been working fine. I know that when you turn on the laptop you press the option button and both show up. HOWEVER for some reason today, out of the blue, it won't work. When I press the option button nothing shows up and the screen stays grey. I then have no choice to just turn it off and turn it back on again. I can't get into the bootcamp harddrive.
At first, it showed up and then went black. And my computer was low on batter and shut off. in the middle of processing it. When that happened something popped up and over a black screen and I couldn't read it cuz the computer shut down fast. And since the harddrive doesn't show up anymore...
Does anyone know why this happened and how I can fix this? Please help me

If you can get the Windows install disk the first thing would be to see if it will boot the computer and then run the repair utility. If not then a reinstall is probably necessary.
For furture reference it is prudent to back up a BootCamp partition so that a complete reinstall is not necessary and your data is protected. For information via a recent thread read this:

UNKNOWN SYMBOL DRIVING ME MAD, PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a symbol that has come up on my screen. It's a white box with a black dot inside and a red dot like the 'notification star' on it. It's in the same area as where you get your bbm, facebook, email, etc. notifications. I've tried going through all my apps and nothing is helping. It's driving me mad. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

Html:link not working in struts project driving me mad, please help...

Can anyone help me with an issue I'm having with my first struts project, I'm learning as I go.
Anyway, I'm trying to create a bog standard hypertext link which passes a value back to a specified struts action. The flow of the application
is as follows:
1) search.jsp
User enters a name and postcode to search on, then click submit
2) searchAction
Struts action 'search' is called and does the search in a back-end db.
Each result found from search is created as a javabean (named resultsBean), and added to a list object. The list object is set as a request
attribute named 'SearchResults'.
The action is then forwarded on to another jsp page named results.jsp
3) results.jsp
The results.jsp page retrieves the list object from the 'SearchResults' attribute and loops through each entry
in the list and converts each entry to the 'resultsBean' javabean object.
Each resultsBean object has a getVirtualID method which stores a string value. This value is retrieved and a hypertext link is created which
passes this value on to another struts action named 'select'.
When this link is clicked on, the select struts action is called and the value passed as a parameter is retrieved.
This is the part I can't get to work, I can't get the link to render properly. When I click the link the select action retrieves
& lt;%= resultsBean.getVirtualID() & gt; as the value of the parameter 'vid' instead of the value stored in the getVirtualID method of the resultsBean.
Listed below is the code from my results.jsp page. If anyone can help me get this to work I would be very grateful.

If you have part of an attribute dynamic, you need to make the entire attribute an expression.
ie instead of
page="/select.do?vid='<%= resultsBean.getVirtualId() %>'"
it has to be
page="<%= "/select.do?vid=" + resultsBean.getVirtualID() %>"
However for my approach, I would aim for zero scriptlets, and use the struts tags even more. For instance instead of an iterator, use the struts logic:iterate tag (or the JSTL c:forEach>
Also instead of div tags, I would use html table tags - <table> <tr><td> etc etc. Thats what its for right?
Here is at least some of it rewritten with struts tags.
I left out the div tags so I could focus on the "important" stuff.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

Dimmed images are not dimmed after saved as PDF.. please help!

After dimming multiple images in AI, they are dimmed in the program but once i preview the pdf I saved of the .ai file, the images are not dimmed. What am i missing?

Dim is an Illustrator layer options attribute, that does not tranfer over to the .pdf. You will have to either group all in the layer and set transparency to you dim percentage, or draw a white rectangle and fill that with a percentage of white.

WRT54G wireless not working after upgrading to windows vista, please help

Hello everyone....
I have a few problems. I upgraded to Windows Vista and cant seem to get my wireless internet working. My router is WRT54G wireless-g broadband router. Ever since I upgraded Vista my xbox 360 will not connect.
I just bought a new wireless web camera and that does not work either because the wireless is not working.
Any suggestions on what I should do to solve this issue?
I noticed when I goto 192.168.1.1 my firmware version is Firmware Version: v3.03.9 does that have anything to do with it? Is there a more up-to-date version that will help?

I have the same problem, and so does my son, he has a toshiba satellite new laptop and I have an acer new laptop, both have Vista on them, and my wife has XP and has no problem getting on teh router, but i have this problem everyday.
Eventually it will all of a sudden show up and connect and start working, then if you laeave your computer in standby movde overnight, it will still work in the morning, but if you shut down comeplety you will lose the connection for who knows how long. what is the fix Linksys?

FCP plays DVCPro HD - QuickTime does not - Driving me mad – please help-.

This is a follow on from a previous post. Trying to get DVCPro HD QuickTime file to playback on a MAC Mini. The file opens but the image is white and I occasionally get a dialog box informing me that a QuickTime component is missing.
I have installed Final Cut Pro on to this MAC
I have downloaded and installed the DVCPROHD components software from apple.
From FCP I can do a custom export (File Export QuickTime Conversion) for DVCPro HD but the same option isn’t available if I try and do a custom export from QuickTime.
I have done the same install on a G5 and all is well. Is it the Intel – Mac Mini that is causing the problem? Both MACs have 10.4.8 installed so I don’t think it’s a system thing.
?????..any advise is greatly appreciated.

I tunes problem driving me mad - please help

Hi, I've just got a new laptop and have installed i-tunes on it. I have copied all my music to the hard drive from my previous computer and i-tunes has has automatically placed all of the music in the i-tunes library. The problem is that for some reason the library is showing 3 copies of each song even though there is only one of each on the hard drive. i have tried removing i-tunes and reinstalling but it is still happening. i have looked through the i-tunes settings but can't work out why it is happening. i dont want to have to go through the library deleting songs as it would take forever...
Has anyone else had this problem? any help would be greatly appreciated

sometimes different songs are placed under one name and also it looks through multiple directories.try to single the folder out for music and then it might work

Airport express not found after setup

I have a maddening situation. At the beginning of setting up my airport extreme, the computer has no problem finding the wireless device. However, after the A/E is configured and added to my current network (linksys router), the computer can't find the A/E anymore.
What's going on?

The following are Apple's instructions for setup using the Airport Setup Assistant, which is different from Airport Utility, but most of the steps are the same. Some are important for your installation, such as "do NOT select extend the range of my Airport..." and entering your network password correctly. Some steps, like plugging in the Airport, you probably already figured out
Since your router is a Linksys product, after the Express is set up you will no longer be able to see it using Airport Utility. The reason is that you set up the Express using its wireless network (Apple Network xxxxxx), which is subsequently disabled after setup. Once you're done and you click Update you'll be using your Linksys wireless network. Airport Utility only recognizes Airport networks. You didn't create one with your Express nor do you want to given your desired setup. If you need to use Airport Utility to configure the Express again you'll need to perform a hard reset.
If everything's right and you have checked iTunes Preferences > Devices "look for remote speakers connected with Airtunes" option you should see a new menu appear in the lower right of the iTunes window.
If this doesn't work, try disabling your router's encryption temporarily to simplify things. Reset the Express and run Airport Utility without a password this time. You may also need to modify your Sharing > Firewall settings too.

Plug AirPort Express into a power outlet.
On your computer, join the wireless network created by AirPort Express.
Open AirPort Setup Assistant. Mac users: Find it in /Applications/Utilities/. Windows users: On the Start menu, point to All Programs and click AirPort.
When you see the Introduction screen, click Continue.
Select "Set up a new AirPort Base Station" and click Next.
When the AirPort Setup Assistant confirms that it has found your AirPort Express, click Continue. (If >your AirPort Express wasn't found, click Try Again.)
Select "Connect to my current wireless network."
Be sure that "Extend the range of my AirPort wireless network" is not selected (this option is used >only for WDS).
Click Next; AirPort Express Assistant will scan for your existing wireless network. Once it finds it, click Next again.
Choose the correct network (there may only be one) from the Wireless Network Name menu. If the wireless network is password protected, you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password and then click Next to continue.
Note: If you have difficulty with your password, you can get help with joining a third-party WEP-protected network.
Enter the name of your AirPort Express.
Tip: If you don't know the name, it's what appears in iTunes as the name of your AirTunes remote speakers.
Click Next.
Assign an administrator password for AirPort Express. This password can be different from any network password, and is used for just changing settings on AirPort Express.
The Summary screen outlines the configuration options you've set. Optionally, you can click Show Passwords to review the administrator and network passwords. Finally, click Next to update AirPort Express with your settings.
