Airport Express connected to WiFi but not visible on iPad

I have set up the airport express and it is connected wirelessly to my new BT HomeHub (green light on Airport Express).  However, I cannot see it in the choices (I have Apple TV also) so I cannot play my music through my stereo via Airport Express which is how I used to do it with the Sky router.  Am I missing something obvious here?

OK - Just started from scrath again - and it all seems to be working

hello all. i hope someone can help me with this. 2 days ago, my wife was able to print using her ibook/airport expess setup. today, the network diagnostics has this message: "network diagnostics was able to connect to the internet but not to the server EPSON Stylus CX3800.pdldatastream.tcp.local. this could be caused by problems with the server, or an internet problem between this computer and the server." she says this happened when she turned it on. what could be causing this? any and all help welcome. mcrat

You can reset the AirPort Express (AX) following the directions in Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ.
Then you can use AirPort Utility on your computer to configure the AX.

  • Airport Express connects to MBPro but not to my Lenovo or Blackberry

I just got the new Apple Express and here's my setup:
Optimum online cable modem --> Airport Express [Note that I don't have a regular router or Apple Extreme]
Airport Express software installed on my Macbook Pro 2010 (Snowleopard) to set up the wireless network. After struggling for a few hours, I managed to get my MacBook Pro to connect to the wireless (with and without password). However, I am unable to connect my work laptop (Lenovo T410...my wife has the same and it won't connect either), nor my Blackberry Bold.
The problem is that the Lenovos and our Blackberrys detect the wireless connection, but fail to connect (or acquire a network address). I am constantly getting "limited or no connectivity" message.
At first, I thought it was because of my WEP / WAP2 security, but I disabled my security and am still facing the problem.
I know this is a common problem, have searched forums extensively but have not yet found a solution. Any help will be much much appreciated.
    Cheers

I've been having similar issues with a Blackberry 9650 (5.x) but I'm using the Apple AirPort Extreme with an AirPort Express as an extender, it seems I've tried everything to get it working (change to WEP, WPA/WPA2, Mixed Mode, 5.0 GHz, etc.), but nothing seems to work.
Can you see the Lenovo or Blackberry in the DHCP logs of the AirPort?

  • My computer will connect to wifi but not the Internet

My computer will connect to wifi but not the Internet. It's not a problem with my router because I've tried other devices on the same router and they work. I have also tried my computer on other routers and there is still no Internet connection. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello Bmowat,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you are able to successfully connect to your Wifi network, but cannot get internet access.
I found this article for you named Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628?viewlocale=en_US
This section in particular since you have Mountain Lion installed:
OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.4 or later
Use the Wireless Diagnostics application included with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.4 and later to identify and resolve Wi-Fi issues. For further information, please see About Wireless Diagnostics.
It is a built in troubleshooting tool to help diagnose and repair network issues and should help you resolve this issue.
    All the very best,

  • I can connect to WiFi but not the internet

I am trying to connect a new IPad 2.  I have a Belkin router that is B+G+N.  I use WPA2 encryption and MAC filtering.  The IPAD's MAC address was entered into the router and when I provide the encryption key as the password I am able to connect to WiFi but not anything Internet related except for email.  When I type any URL in Safari it takes me to my router's management page.  In fact I can log into my router and manage it from my IPad but I can't connect to anything else.  I have 8 other computers/devices that connect to the router fine including two Apple Ipod touch's.  This has me baffled.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Able to connect to wifi but not internet.

I am able to connect to the wifi at work with my 3GS but I can't connect to the internet. There are SOME at work who are having the same problem (not all). My phone was able to browse yesterday and I've made no changes. I've tried resetting the Network settings and nothing. Password hasn't changed since yesterday.

Stephen: The problem might be similar in your referred post, but it is not the same.
I have a (more) similar problem, being that I CAN connect to my Airport Express (AE) via wifi, at least that is what the menubar and the "network settings" indicate, however while the phone indicates that I'm connected none of the phone's applications can access internet.
The app "Remote" can't find my MacBook Pro either. And that is most surely connected because I'm writing this post on the MBP connected to internet via the very same AE.
However, when I take my iPhone and MBP to my parents place (they don't have apple gear, but an old "Level One" Wi-Fi router), both internet and "Remote" works perfect.
I had no such problems before upgrading my 3GS to iOS4. Anyone?

  • I'm able to connect via wifi but not via ethernet

I have a iMac, Mac OS X v10.7.5, and recently had a problem connecting to internet.  I can connect via wifi, but when I try connecting via ethernet it's not working.  When I go to the preferences > network, it shows "green" / connected for ethernet but when I open up Safari or Firefox, it doesn't show a connection to the internet.

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
    Click OK.
10.5/10.6 instructions, System Preferences>choose interface>Advanced>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.

  • Airport Express works with Skype but not with internet

    Hi,
I recently bought some new Airport Express' for my company. However, when plugging it in we seemingly get full access, but only Skype seems to work. If I do a search on the internet it can sometimes look like it find the address after a long while, but don't manage to open the page. E.g. writing www.google.com in the search field doesn't give access to that page.
I brought them home to check if the Airports worked there, and they did. No problem. But at the office the Airports don't. If I connect the same plug which is connected to the Airport into the MAC / PC, then I have full connection to the internet.
    What to do?

After Grant pointed out the DNS thing, I started to check that part, and I noticed something funny. I called Apple Support regarding the problem, and now it's solved
    Here is my experience:
    1. My Airports worked fine when home, but not at work.
    2. Checking the LAN DNS addresses I received three addresses. 2 in the 158.xx... range and one in the 129.xxx... range.
    3. The Airport Extreme and Airport Express does only support two DNS addresses, and since the two 158.xx... DNS addresses came first in that range the 129.xxx... was left out.
    4. I manually changed one of the 158.xx... addresses to the 129.xxx... address I got on my MAC / PC when I connected directly to the wall and did a "ipconfig /all" on the PC. The three same addresses is listed under network - airport on the MAC.
    5. Now suddenly it all worked. This due to that the two 158.xx... addresses seamed to be internal addresses, and the 129.xxx... address was from outside delivered from our operator.
    Summarized:
When you receive 3 DNS addresses you MAC and PC can handle it fine, but your Airport not. Find all your DNS addresses and write them down. Enter Airport Admin Utility and do a manual setup. Change one of the two equal address to the third address. Most probably listed as the last DNS address when you are connected directly and type e.g. "ipconfig /all" on your PC or you enter the network settings.
    Best regards,
    Bouw

  • When i try to connect my iPhone 4S into iTunes through wifi or USB it will not connect the other thing  is when i hook up my iPad into iTunes it will connect through wifi but not USB? Now is this a issue with my iPad and iPhone or is this iTunes?

When i bought my iPhone and my iPad they both were on iOS 7.0.2 i updated them shortly after thinking the new iOS 7.0.4 was better. i see its not but they both worked great with iTunes before and after the update. My question is why is my iPhone not connecting to iTunes? it will not connect through USB or wifi and i know that the setting to do that is turned on. my iPad connects through iTunes through wifi but not USB. This isnt making any sense but i wanna know is this a iTunes issue? or is it my phone and iPad??

This can sometimes be the result of a faulty/damaaged USB sync cable.  Do you have another cable you could test it out with?

  • Can connect to Wifi but not LAN internet with iphone 6

    Hello from Australia.
Ever since I brought my iphone 6 home, I have been plagued with Wifi issues.  All of my idevices have lost internet connection, even though they can be connected to WiFi via Airport Express (2nd gen).
My internet is a LAN ethernet cable, and usually after connnecting to WiFi (on any device), I get a Login Page from my ISP and I can connect to the internet as usual.
The new iphone 6 has never been able to bring up the Login Page, but is able to connect to my WiFi network.  My old 4S is also unable to connect, as well as my husband's 4S.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you.

  • Can connect via wifi but not by ethernet cable?

    Hi,
    I'm a bit confused here.
I have an airport express which works fine and I just bought an airport extreme.
The airport extreme is connected to the modem by an ethernet cable and the airport express is connected by ethernet cable to the airport extreme.
I am able to connect to the airport express wifi with all the computers but I'm unable to connect any computers to the airport extreme via ethernet cable.
Both airport express and extreme are lit up green and they both appear on the Airport Utility.
The airport extreme setting is set so that it is joining the airport express' network. That's the only way the light shows up green instead of flicking amber.
I've looked at the settings over and over again and am not sure/don't understand why this is? All I know is that I've got the wifi working! The ethernet connection is not workin for both PCs and Mac.
    Any help is much appreciated!

The airport extreme is connected to the modem by an ethernet cable
    On the WAN plug, right?
and the airport express is connected by ethernet cable to the airport extreme.
Why? You don't need AirPort Express anymore, unless you have signal weakness in your home.
If that is the case, you can use the AirPort Express to extend the range of the new AirPort Extreme WiFi network with WDS (Wireless Distribution System).

  • Airport Express Shows in WAN, but not Wireless

I have an old Airport Express and a Time Machine (and Powerbook 13" 2011 model ... OSX 10.8.2). I have been using the TM fine for quite some time now. I used to use the AE, but packed it away for the last two years. Having just gotten a new stereo, I would like to play music via the AE again, as I used to.
However now I cannot get the AE to show up in Airport Utility. If I plug it in by Ethernet, it shows up fine and plays music. But the moment I unplug the Ethernet, I lose connection. I have tried to configure as Extend a Network and Join a Network, and the same thing happens with both ... music plays fine with plugged in, but cannot get a signal with wireless. AE does not show up at all on AU on wireless. Resetting the AE has no effect. The AE light is solid green the whole time.
I suspect I am doing something really basically wrong and dumb, but cannot figure it out at all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    ok here's an update.
now my airport express turns to green automatically (only in my room)
it will still be blinking amber anywhere else
so the problem is still not solved.

  • Airport will connect to network but not internet

    Hi,
My MacBook air started out working beautifully on my wireless network-high download speeds, solid connection, etc... After about six hours of operation however, it has stopped being able to find the internet consistently, no matter what wireless network I try. I use a NetGear wireless hub in my room, and my laptop is able to consistently find and connect to the network (the hub is only about 3 feet away) but it cannot connect to the internet. Under network settings I get the message "Airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet" or "Airport cannot connect to the internet." I know that the internet is working, because the network works fine for my MB Pro, iPhone, TiVo, and xBox 360. In fact, the MBA is occassionally able to find the internet and get an IP address. Sometimes this IP address allows me to load web pages extremely slow and sometimes I cannot even find google. The problem extends beyond my one network, however, as I have difficulty connecting to other wireless networks. I am on a college campus and sometimes can connect to the campus WiFi, but it again frequently connects without being able to figure out an IP address. Some help would be great.

I have a similar issue. Mine does the same thing, but only if in a specific area. If I'm sitting on my recliner with the Air on my lap, then it will connect, but I can't get to any sites. The browser just stalls.
If I move to the table that's 3 feet away from me, then the internet connects without any problems.
It could be a reception issue with me, or something. I don't know. At first it connected at very high speeds. That was before 10.5.2.
I don't know if the Leopard Update has anything to do with it, since my iMac doesn't have this problem at all. And that has an N card also.
I hope Apple is looking into this wireless issues.
