Airport Express connectivity with a remote server

I have gone to our ISP already with this question, but they cannot assist me. I am hoping someone here will be able to assist me in solving this problem. My boss wishes to connect to our server at our company from his home using an Airport Express. The company's server is housed on our work site and connected to an internal network. This network is in turn connected to our ISP via a DSL modem. We opened the ports needed in order to connect with the server in house and redirected incoming traffic to the server's internal ip address. We had our boss test connecting to the server from his home. He could not do so. We were asked to have him try connecting directly to his DSL (also from the same ISP as what our company has). He will be doing that this evening. However, this does not help the fact that this diminishes the whole idea of him having wireless capability in his home or when he is traveling. We had our ISP test accessing our server remotely using Telnet, and it was successful. They were connected directly, however, not using a wireless network.
Is there something that we are missing here involving some sort of setting? Or is this something I need our ISP to dig into further? Please let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions. Thank you.

To combat the issue, enable an HLB port on your FE servers (or any other pool you are using HLB on) and configure the health checks for the load balancer to use that port instead of the port used for TLS traffic.
Start by configuring the pool in Topology Builder, right click the pool, and choose Edit Properties>General.  Place a check in the “Enable Hardware Load Balancer monitoring port” and specify a port.

  • Airport express connect with Imac via lan line or can not?

I using IMac with connect to internet with DSL modem router (having 4 lan ports).
Now I put Airport express connect with one of Lan ports from DSL router and still connect my IMac with DSL router via lan line and still connect to internet via lan line (switch off airport function in Imac).
The Airport express is using for provide wireless internet and printer to my other PC.
My Question is can I still set up as above and connect share file to my PC via airport express?
Forget to tell that I'm very newby to mac.

Yes you can do that. Configure the AirPort Express (AX) to operate in bridge mode (not sharing a single IP address).

  • Latest 7.6.1 firmware broke all Airport Express connections with Airport Extreme

Installed the latest Airport Utility (6.0) last night.  Once installed I ran Airport Utility and saw my 4 Airport Express N's, one Time Capsule, and Airport Extreme needed a firmware update to version 7.6.1.  Installed to all of them, and initially everything came back up-and-running.  All this equipment remains on 24-hours a day, and the four Airport Express are wirelessly joined to the Airport Extreme's wireless network.
This morning the wireless link between the Airport Extreme and all four Airport Express's was broken (flashing amber light on all of them).  Power resets did nothing.  The Time Capsule link was still good; however, the Time Capsule is connected to the Airport Extreme via ethernet.  Visited this forum and saw other folks were having similar problems.
I saw no way of downgrading the Airport Extreme firmware with Airport Utility 6.0, so I downloaded Airport Utility 5.6.  I launched it, and was able to downgrade the Airport Extreme firmware back to version 7.6.  After hard resetting the four Airport Express units, I was able to downgrade their firmware also back to 7.6.  Everything immediately came back online.
Am going to sit this firmware update out until more shelf life exists with it.  I also agree the Airport Utility 6.0 seem to be a less capable step backward.  Why someone thought we need a simpler interface for a "Utility" that resides in the "Utility Folder" is mystifying.

First I've updated my Extreme to 7.6.1, then, the Express.
Everything work fine untill I update the Airport Utility to the new version and rebooted my extreme, then my Express stop working (An can't be detected anymore by the Airport Utility, orange light)
So I took my laptop, plug a network cable between it and my Express (Now I was seeing it in the Airport Utility) and reconfire the wireless network connection between them.
    Hope this Help!

  • Airport Express connection with my wireless network

    Hi
I have tried to install my Airport Express, which was okay, but doing so I had to disconnect my wireless network.
What I would like to do is to connect the airport express to the wireless network (Linksys-router). I tried to choose the "Join an existing wireless network" in the admin utility, but now I have lost contact with my airport express base station.
    Please help me....

What I would like to do is to connect the airport express to the wireless network (Linksys-router).
What are you trying to do with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)? Use it for streaming iTunes and/or share a USB printer, or extend your existing Linksys wireless network?

  • Airport express connection with broadband

Hi, am having trouble establishing a wireless connection. I plugged in my usb cable from my broadband hub into the unit and the usb light is not showing up on my broadband hub. It works fine when I plug it into my oldpc laptop. Any ideas?

sonyarea, Welcome to the discussion area!
Sorry but you need to replace your "broadband hub" with a device which has an Ethernet output.
The USB port on the AirPort Express (AX) is ONLY for a single compatible USB printer. It can NOT be used to connect to a USB Internet connection.

  • AirPort Express (Problems with multiple remote speakers

I've been so far successfully using several AirPort Express base stations to stream music from Itunes to differant rooms in my house. A week ago I suddenly started getting an error message ("Unknown Error -3256) when attempting to stream to multiple rooms. Anyone else having this problem all of a sudden? I've gone thru the configuration for Airport and each base station and everthing seems to be in order.... Any ideas... Anyone? thanks

A lot of people including myself have been having problems with the airport. We think it's the AirPort update or the security update that is causing problems. If you're experiencing problems or slow downs with your internet then that's also part of the update. Wait till the next update or we find a workaround to this problem.

  • SSRS 2012 with SharePoint 2010: Unable to connect to the remote server

We had originally installed SSRS 2012 with SP 2010 and I did not like how the installation was configured, so we uninstalled everything and removed the SSRS server from the SharePoint farm and uninstalled all the SQL bits (SSRS was deployed to web tier in
    sharepoint mode).
I've since added a new application server to host the SSRS SharePoint Mode and Installed the reporting services add-in on the WFE.   For reference, I have 1 WFE and 2 App Servers.  the WFE has the Reporting Service Add-in and both App Servers have
the SharePoint mode of SSRS installed as described here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh479774(v=sql.110).aspx
I've also installed the Service Application and all seems to work well up until I make an attempt to create a report or data source on the WFE.
It looks like somewhere, the WFE is still looking to connect to the original SSRS machine we installed.  I've gone through registry, config files and the SharePoint config database to see if I can see where the reference value is.  Still can't
find it anywhere.  None of the Reporting commandlets are helping.
    Technically what is occurring;
Add Reporting service content types and create a New Reporting Data Source through UI

Issue an iisreset on the WFE, and validate that SSRS Service is running on the App servers.

Hi..I have an AirPort Extreme base connected to my DSL Modem and has been working fine. But I recently bought another DSL modem along with the latest Airport Express. With this one however I can't get it to connect to the Internet. The light on the Express is flashing green though. Does it mean I have to re-set the settings on Airport Utility? I.e. the old settings haven't been cleared yet. Any suggestions?

Let's see if I can get this straight.
You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...
    Correct?
    See this Apple document:

The wireless unit on the right of the diagram can be either of the newer Apple base stations.

  • VPN Issue:  Could not Negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server

    Hello Folks,
I setup VPN on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2. I am successfully able to connect to VPN via laptop internally and externally. However, on my iPhone I am not able to connect and receiving the following error "Could not Negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server".
There doesnt seem to be a lot of documentation regarding this on Apple and or throughout the web.
    Anyone resolve this issue?
    Peace
    Phil C.

I am not entirely sure my full setup. I had a friend help me set it up. Now for some reason when on WIFI on my own network I am able to connect to VPN ( I wasnt able to before), but when I switch to edge there is still no response for the PPP server. I even messed around with the PPP options still no response. Unfortunately I am not extremely server literate so my troubleshooting is limited. However it is now working via my own WIFI and will try it on another WIFI network tomorrow. I am wondering though if it connecting had to do with any updates from microsoft. Since this is a newly installed server 2003 it has been running updates. Some food for thought.
    Peace
    Phil

  • Set up Airport Extreme with 2 Airport Express connected by CAT5??

I recently bought an Airport Extreme base station and an Airport Express. My plan was to use to Airtunes with my AV receiver in my basement. Unfortunately, because the distance between these two areas is long (and separated by two floors) I'm not able to get a strong enough signal with the Airport Express to use Airtunes. I bought another Airport Express to put on the middle floor of our house but the signal in the basement was still not strong enough even with this addition.
I do have a way of connecting the middle floor of our house with the basement area by a CAT5 ethernet cable. My plan now is to connect the two Airport Express modules by their ethernet ports with this cable. The Airport Express on the middle floor connects with the Airport Extreme base station wirelessly without any problems. My question is what is the proper setup for the 2nd Airport Express connected by ethernet in my basement.
Airport Tech support said this could be done. They recommended setting up a new wireless network with the 2nd Airport Express by "fooling" into thinking it was connected directly to the router but using the same network name with a different wireless channel as my Airport Extreme base station. This setup actually works for several hours but then the Airport Express module that is connected to the Airport Extreme blinks amber. Interestingly the 2nd Airport Express with usually remain with the green light on.
Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to set this up regarding network configuration with the Airport Utility?
    Thanks

That will work with as long as the AirPort Express (AX) is connected via Ethernet. The only other setting you need to make is to configure it to act as a bridge (not sharing a single IP address).
If this one looses connection, then something is wrong with the AX or the Ethernet connection (cable and/or connectors).

  • Can't connect (wireless) to my Airport Express anymore with iBook, iPad or iPhone.

Can't connect (wireless) to my Airport Express anymore with iBook, iPad or iPhone. It still recognizes the printer on the iBook (bonjour), but not on my Windows notebook (work). The only device that still connects via wireless is the PlayStation 3.

The latest firmupdate solved the issue.

  • Time Capsule with (2) AirPort Express connection problem

I have (1) Airport Time Capsule with (1) AirPort Express connected. I'm trying to connect another Airport Express but only get a yellow light on the 2nd Express. If I connect it with a ethernet cable I get a green light. How do I connect a 2nd Express?

The 2nd Express needs to be about the same distance from the Time Capsule as the 1st Express....and....it cannot be closer to the 2nd Express than it is to the Time Capsule.
The reason for this is that the Express will pick up the strongest signal and you want the Express to pick up the Time Capsule signal to be able to extend it.
Then, start over as LaPastenague instructs on the 2nd Express and configure it again.

  • Will airport express work with 3G wirelessly without access to Y Fi connection ? (usinmg an iPad )

I do not have wi Fi at work. Will airport express work with just the 3G on my Ipad2?

In addition to Keith's comments, if you are asking if the iPad can configure an Apple router like the AirPort Express, the answer would be yes, if you download and install AirPort Utility from the App Store. It's free.
I'm assuming that you have a newer version of the Express. Check the Model No on the side of the device. It needs to be A1264.
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/airport-utility/id427276530
if you do not have an Ethernet Internet connection to connect to the Ethernet port on the Express,  you can still use the Express to "Create a wireless network", but of course devices will not be able to connect to the Internet. The Express will complain, but you can ignore the error messages.
If your printer is wireless, hopefully it is an AirPrint compatible printer. Then you would be able to print from the iPad.  Check this Apple Support document for information about compatible printers. There might be other applications that would allow this as well. Check Keith's post for that info.

I'm still not clear on exactly what you are trying to do, and devices that you have, so if you can state your goals again....we can make sure that we are not missing something.

  • Problems Printing: Airport Express connected HP Laserjet M1319f

    Hello,
I have an Airport Express connected via ethernet to my network.  Attached to it is a HP LaserJet M1319f MFP printer, via USB.  I can get my iMacs and my Windows systems to print to the printer without a problem.
I would like to be able to print logs to it from my OS X Server (10.6.7), which is located quite a distance from the printer.  So far, I've had absolutely no luck configuring the Airport-attached printer and getting it to work.  From what I've been able to figure out, OS X Server expects any remote printer that it attaches to, to be attached via IPP, TCP/IP, or via Windows.  It doesn't seem to want to discover and use the printer via Bonjour.
Any ideas on how I can make this work?  Am I missing something obvious?
    Thanks!
    Sven

See if these guides help, it sounds like a driver issue. Does the printer work correctly when directly connected to the PC?
Ensure that the Macs are not sharing the printer, as this is not needed and the PC should be able to find the printer on the AX.
