Airport Express doesn't connect to HughesNet

I have purchased an Apple Airport Express, and when I plug it into the Hughesnet Modem, the indicator light = amber blinking. I have successfully connected to other routers (Linksys). Any Ideas?

If you can connect to your AirPort Express with AirPort Utility, it should show you why the Express unit is unhappy.

    Hi Jake,
Is it connecting to the Router or Modem?
Is the new Router using maybe WPA2 encryption? If so, G4s can only do WPA or less.

Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

  • AirPort Express doesn't connect to router via WLAN anymore

    Hello
A few days ago I've bought an *AirPort Express (802.11n)*
When I wanted to test it for the first time, I set it up to *connect to an Existing Wireless Network* and it worked, I could for example stream music from iTunes or print something.
The main reason I bought the APExpress was to extend the range of my wireless signal area, and since my router's got WDS ability I set the *AirPort as a part of the WDS Network* and logically I connected it via Ethernet to the router, and again everything worked.
    Now my problem is:
yesterday I wanted to use the APExpress to stream some music to the kitchen,
so I chose the profile in which it was set to connect to an Existing Wireless Network, like I already described above.
But now it doesn't work; the APExpress doesn't connect to the router via WLAN, though there's the green light which's supposed to mean that everything's fine but it doesn't show up in the AirPort Setup Assistant.
As soon as I connect it via Ethernet to router it shows up and you can start streaming music or whatever, but without Ethernet it doesn't connect to the router anymore.
And that's weird, cause for the first time I used the device it worked, but now it doesn't!
Now I would be very thankful if somebody could help me to solve this problem.
    Cheers
    Yasser

I've tried a bunch of 10.1.10.x's and none of them seem to work. The computer that does work has gotten the IP automatically, though.
I've been doing some reading, and it seems as though OS X self-assigns a 169.254.x.x IP address whenever it tries to get an IP from DHCP and fails. Aside from turning off both the router and the modem for about 15 minutes, is there any other way to make the router give me an IP address? And why does one of the computers work? Do you think that if we tried to renew the DHCP lease on that computer, it wouldn't be able to get one?
I'm not sure what the router is set to give out. How would I check that?

  • Airport Express doesn't connect to wireless network after firmware update

    Hi,
I just updated the firmware on my Airport Express to 6.3 and now it will no longer join the network. I have tried reseting to the factory defaults and Airport Utility accepts all the information and shows the unit with a green dot next too it. However, the unit is still flashing amber and in the final step where the Utility tries to save the configuration the update fails and I get the following error message:
An error occurred while reading the configuration.
Please make sure your AirPort base station is plugged in and in range of your computer or connected via Ethernet and try again. (-6753).
I am using an old style AirPort Extreme as a base station.
    Can anyone help?

Wow, really no suggestions yet? This is a first for me, on the Apple Discussion boards!
    Can anyone help?

  • Airport express doesn't connect to motorola 2210. how to set up?

just get a flashing amber light on AX. when i connect modem directly to via ethernet computer can connect to internet.

I'm familiar with that device.  You will need to re-configure the modem to work in "Bridge Mode" or "PPP is on the computer or router".
Right now, it is set for "PPP" is on the modem, correct?
Open the web page for the modem and look for the PPP Location tab on the left.
Then, the AirPort Express must be configured to "Connect Using = PPPoE" and you enter your user name and password into the setup of the AirPort Express.
Power off both the modem and Express. Start the modem first and let it run a moment or two. Then start the Express.

  • Airport express doesn't connect to internet at work

I'm currently connected to my home network using my Airport Express card. However, I can't connect at work. Here is a screenshot of my System Prefs>Network>TCP/IP page:
-One iMac at work previously has connected wirelessly, and stopped connecting once it restarted and tried to reconnect to the network again.
-Another iMac still does connect to the network. While trying to figure out what the difference was, I realized that it has a Router Number:
Is there any other difference that could make this happen? How do I fix it? Thanks for all your help.

I've tried a bunch of 10.1.10.x's and none of them seem to work. The computer that does work has gotten the IP automatically, though.

  • Airport Express doesn't connect to internet

Got a Airport Express to replace my old router. When modem is run into old router get internet with no problem. When I plug it into the Airport Express I loss internet but Airport Express gives green light.  Go into utility and see internet disconnected but Airport Express is green light. I have reset router and airport express and computer in every possible combination possible.
    Any ideas on the problem??

Power off the modem for 30 minutes by pulling the power cord from the back of the modem or from the wall. A longer power down period will not hurt.
If the modem has a battery that is easily accessible, pull the battery as well.
Then reinstall the battery if it was pulled, and start up the modem and let it run for 5 minutes by itself.
Then connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Express and start up the Express to see if the modem will now associate correctly with the device.

  • Airport express doesn't connect to pc only

Hi, I have had 2 Airport Express' in the last couple of weeks. The first worked perfectly with all of my devices but a relative took it as I was just setting it up for him. I decided to perchase one for myself after getting amazing speeds on my Win7PC and across the 2 iPads and 3 iPhones we have around the house. The problem is that this new Airport works terrifically with my apple devices but now it does not connect to my PC, or if it does, I get 0.5mbps for less than a minute before it disconnects. I have tried resetting the airport and reinstalling my wifi card drivers to no avail! A fix would be greatly appriciated,
    Thanks

The wireless voodoo gremlins at work.. !!
Two identical setups give completely opposite results.. makes wireless such fun.
Do a factory reset of the Express.
Setup wireless with a short name.. no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    See if that is enough..
No go.. set the wireless channels.. test 1, 6, 11 on 2.4ghz and say 40 and >150 on 5ghz. the exact channels is not important for 5ghz.. they are important on 2.4ghz as they are the only channels that do not overlap.

  • Airport express doesn't connect to fritzbox 3370

    Hi,
Two days ago I installed a fritzbox 3370, which works as modem and router. Cause my room is on the 2nd floor and the fritzbox is located in the basement, I had an ethernet cable plugged in my airport express and created my own wifi network. This worked fine until we got the fritzbox.
I can't configure it the way that the airport will connect to the internet. I switche dhcp off at the airport and it is running in bridge mode.
    Can you help me?

  • Airport Express G cannot connect to network

    Hello,
I have the Airport Express (G version) running the 6.3 firmware. My problem is that I cannot connect to my home network. When I use the airport express to create the wireless network, I can connect the Windows and Mac machines to it to stream iTunes and all works perfectly. When I connect it to my home network (Linksys WRT54G running dd-wrt) I cannot connect anything to it once it is configured. I set it up from the mac and all the network settings are transferred to the Airport Express. It seems to connect for a minute then the connection drops. Sometimes iTunes sees the Airport Express and it tries to connect but is unsuccessful. I cannot edit the airport settings from either machine without resetting it to factory defaults and reconfiguring.
The problem seems to be the Airport Express doesn't want to play nice with the home network. Does anybody have any suggestions?
As I am writing this I cannot remember if I have had the Airport Express working since I've installed dd-wrt. I know it worked pre dd-wrt and am hoping that isn't the issue.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Jared

Express works fine with third party routers including the WRT54G, but once you modify it you're on your own. I'd go to the dd-wrt forum and ask around.

  • I changed cable providers and now my Airport Express won't connect to the Internet.  How do I fix this?

I changed to Time Warner cable.  Upon doing so, my Airport Express lost its connection to the Internet.  When I run the Airport Utility, I am stuck at the first step, which says the AE doesn't have any DNS server addresses.  What are they and how do I find out what they should be?  And if I supply them, will that fix the problem?

Have you performed a Factory Default Reset on the AirPort Express?
If not, the Express is still remembering the settings that you programmed into it when you configured it to work with your old modem.
The Express is "looking" for your old modem, but it does not "see" 'it because it is no longer there...so it can't connect to the Internet.
If you have not already tried the Factory Default Reset and you need more info about this, post back for more details.

  • AirPort Express restarts/loses connection ?

I got a Time Capsule, and AirPort Express and an iMac. The last two were bought a month ago.
The way it's configured, the Time Capsule is the main base, and the AirPort Express is extending the signal of the Time Capsule so it reaches the iMac. The problem is that, even tho it works at the beginning, for some reason after a couple of minutes the AirPort Express goes from full green to blinking orange, and it disappears from the iMac.
I thought it would be the range so I placed the AirPort Express a bit closer to the Time Capsule, but it didn't work as well.
Then we tried a similar setup somewhere else (AirPort Extreme and the AirPort Express extending the AirPort Extreme), and it worked fine.
What could be the issue? In the first location, even tho the bases aren't close, the distance doesn't seem that big, and there are walls in between (maybe four or so), but there's a hallway that connects both areas, AND the room where both of the wireless bases are aren't completely closed.
I read somewhere that the problem is that, since the AirPort Express doesn't have any cable connected, after a while it goes into some sort of sleep mode? But it wouldn't make sense because most people that want to extend their bases wouldn't connect a cable in the base that is extending (cable doesn't reach the base)?

    Welcome to the discussions!
If you are still interested in extending the Time Capsule wireless network, you first need to take some signal strength measurements to determine whether you have an adequate signal for the AirPort Express to function correctly.
Keep the Express powered off for now.
Download a utility like iStumbler and move your laptop to the area where the AirPort Express would be located.
Run iStumbler to get an accurate picture of your 1) signal strength, and 2) noise on the network. You may be surprised that the actual signal strength is less than you might have thought...especially if you have been looking at the "bars" at the top of your computer screen.
You should be aware that the "bars" are there pretty much for show and they tell you nothing about potential noise problems on your network.
You may need to experiment a bit to find a location for the Express with a good signal. You want to show at least 50% signal strength...more is better...and ideally less than 10% noise at the location where the Express will be installed.
So, how does it look there?

  • DSL to Cable Modem switch - now Airport express doesn't work

I just switched from DSL to Cable and now connecting to the internet via my Airport express doesn't work. It's fine direct connecting via ethernet.
Is there a known issue? I've tried various things but no dice.
Are my Airport expresses now married to the older modem?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Okay I got a new Airport extreme since there was a chance that the new modem and the expresses weren't 100% compatible and the Extreme worked almost out of the box.
Truth is, I might have just had to hold down the reset buttons on the expresses longer so that they would revert to the manufacturer's default and they might have become functional since I did that later and my old expresses are now connected to the home network.
For anyone else with this issue, before giving up or if you don't need an excuse to buy an extreme, hold that airport reset button in a good two minutes before and then another two during the plug-in and you might get lucky.
    Thanks.

    Contact HP for support.
Explain that you are using a Mac, anticipate the inevitable groan, and wait patiently for their resident Mac expert to return from vacation.
Until then download and install its driver here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=5058338&cc=us&dlc=en &lc=en
