Airport Express Error

Hello..I'm a newbie to this forum. I hope someone can help me out. Let's see..it's worked great for 3+ years. Suddenly I get an error when trying to connect itunes to my stereo remote speakers. I reinstalled the airport and still get the exact same result. This is the FIRST problem I've had with ANY of my Mac gear, thus my first visit to this forum. I don't think it's a problem with the airport itself because my system recognizes and installs it correctly and my remote speaker toggle is present in itunes. I also have a green light on the express itself. Methinks this may have coincided with an itunes update possibly. Thanks in advance!

Is this your problem: Tunes 8: Unknown error -15000 when attempting to stream music to devices connected to AirPort Express with AirTunes

  • Airport express error -15000. Any ideas on what causes this error?

I keep getting airport express error -15000 when I try to play a song from itunes to speakers set up throught the airport express.

  • Airport Express error (-15006) when trying to connect as a remote speaker?

I use an Airport Express (g) to port music to my stereo.
Recently it stopped working and although the green light is on (ie connected) when I try and connect iTunes to it gives me the waiting bar and then error (-15006).
I've tried doing a 'hard' reset on the unit and reconfiguring it but no change.
Is it broken or is this a software/setup issue?
    Thanks,
    Dan.

After reading dozens of reports about this issue in this forum I found my solution and I want to thank everybody for their contribution. Here is what I did. I think this can help many of you that are having your airport not recognized by airport utility:
1- connect your aiport express to your computer with an ethernet cable
2- while mantaining your aiport express connected to your computer by this cable do a factory reset (see apple support to learn how to do this simple procedure)
3- at this time you will see a steady ambar light in your airport express
4- launch airport utility and wait 30-50 seconds
5- airport express should now appear with factory settings ready to be setup
If you have an Airport Extreme base station and want your airport express joining your network follow the above procedure and TURN ON airport in your Mac in order you can access your airport express through airport utility.
I hope this help you. My airport express (n) is working again with firmware 7.4.1 that many people claim to have a bug as is air tunes. My house is a 2 story building and this airport is on the top floor where te network could be problematic but it is not.
    Regards,
    Jose

  • Airport Express (error -3256) trying to stream to multiple speakers

I have an iMac and have set up a network on airport extreme. Set up airport express to stream airtunes only and had no problem yesterday going to both computer and the speakers connected to airport express. Today, connected my windows laptops to the network with no problem using LinkSys wireless USB, but when I tried to stream music to computer and airport express both I got the error it seems many others have -- unknown error (-3256) and it will only now stream to one of the 2 locations (either computer or airport express, but not both at once) at a time. However, from iTunes from my windows laptop PC (I have version 7.0.2 on my PC, and just purchased my 1st iMac) I COULD stream to BOTH !! Now even when I disconnect the laptop PC's from my wireless network I get the same error. Some setting somewhere must have changed. I spent an hour on with Apple support and we looked at firewall, reinstalled iTunes, hard reset the Airport express and rejoined the wireless network, none of it worked. Since the PC laptop can stream to both, it must be the op system or some setting on my Mac.....shouldn't be the router.....should it? I am supposed to talk to Apple tomorrow and get the problem escalated when the hold times come down a bit, so if I can I will answer my question on this board, because I have seen similar issues that aren't solved yet (unless it was the firewall issue which didn't work for me).
Anyone who can help, please do. Or even suggest a course of action (maybe it is something with router? but then why did my PC laptop stream to both, or iTunes or Leopard?)......I have tried many of the obvious fixes on the phone with support. Thanks all.

The problem is simple, the Apple firewall is blocking UDP and the only workaround is to completely open it up ( Arrrgh! I hear you shout). "SysPrefs" -> "Security" -> "Firewall" -> "Allow all incoming connections" is the way to do it... horrible I know!!
Hopefully Apple will put a little more attention into making sure that the firewall provides adequate protection without impairing AirTunes functionality.
Have fun opening your network to the world... by the way I have leopard 10.5.1 not the 10.4.6 quoted below... have to update profile.

  • Airport Express error 6753 and IPAD2 "interference"

Airport Express works fine with my pc(Vista) until my brother-in-law comes with his IPAD2 and connects. My pc will connect to the Express(wireless network), but won't go on the internet. Can't get the Airport Utility to communicate either: error 6753. When the IPAD2 leaves everything works fine again. Any ideas? Thanks

I had a hard time to re-configure my Airport Express after an automatic update by Apple (New firmware for Airport Extreme) It just wouldn't work on my Leopard machine. (express was not responding, amber light flashing, unable to fetch configuration settings...etc.) Now, I've downgraded the firmware for the Express again (from 6.3 to 6.1.1) and i used a powerbook with tiger installed to configure the express. Now it all seems to work again. It took a lot of time to figure things out, wich is a shame, but I'm happy to have it all working again. And perhaps this knowledge is usefull to others.

  • Airport Express Error (-8)

I've had my Airport Express for some time and wanted to use it to stream itunes to the basement. I plugged it into my router with a cable and it does appear on my airport utility but I'm being told it need to have the firmware upgraded from 6.1.1 to 6.3.
I've downloaded the new version and the Firmware updater see the Express however when I attempt to do the upgrade I get "An error occurred while attempting to communicate with the AirPort Express. (-8)"
I don't know how to correct this or even what my next steps are. I reset the fto the factory settings but still no change.

I just had the same problem. It turned out that when the Airport Express was factory reset it went back to giving out 10.x.x.x IP addresses via DHCP. I still had a hard-coded 192.168.x.x IP on my computer, so even though I was connected to the wifi network, my computer and the Express were in different sub-nets and couldn't connect for administration or a firmware update. Changing my computer's Airport IP config to DHCP put me in 10.x.x.x and then everything worked (but you may need another connection to the Internet to pull down the firmware).

  • Airport Express error code -4

Hi, I'm trying to configure my aiport express but I'm always getting the following message:
'An error happen when trying to connect to the wireless Apple device. Check that the network is correct and try it again. Error code: -4'
The thing is that the Airport express is conected via ethernet to a router, and my laptop reach internet through the wifi Apple Network created by the airport express.
    Can anybody help, please?

    Bump for anymore replies
I am having the same issue but it is with an extreme not an express. Anyway i tried to upgrade to a new dual band router as this one is about 3 years old. Bad decision. When i tried to hook up my airport it was very slow all of a sudden so i deleted everything to start over. I have it working now (unsecured), downloaded the airport utility program. If finds it but gives me the error above.
I did read elsewhere that it could be related to the first generation mac book pros with the intel chip. I origially setup the device on that computer and now i am trying to access it through my PC.
    Any suggestions?

  • Airport express error message

Trying to add Airport Express to extend Airport Extreme. Can not open Express in Utilities --error message: -6753 "an error occured while trying to access the wireless device..." What does that error message indicate?

Did some research and tried a firmware update on my airport extreme, which solved the problem.

  • Airport Express error 15006 after period of no use

I have a network composed of a Time Capsule connected via ethernet to a Mac Mini running iTunes which broadcasts to three Airport Express stations. As long as I'm actively using it, I don't have any problems. When I come home from work, I can always count on an error 15006 in iTunes saying one of the Airport Express devices has disconnected. At this point, I have to stop and restart iTunes and everything is fine again. Since the Mac Mini is headless, running as a media server, this means pulling out my laptop and getting a remote desktop on the Mac Mini to restart iTunes - a daily ritual for months now.
I see a lot of discussion in here about restarting AEs and flashing firmware and whatnot, but it seems to me that iTunes just doesn't handle this situation properly, an error dialog is unnecessary when it could apparently just rescan the network and repair itself as it does on startup. Is there some other fix for this scenario? iTunes developers, could you please handle this sort of error differently with a more proactive approach?

    What a pain!
After the investment, and getting everything tuned in and working perfectly, having that outstanding issue was... quite painful to my psyche, yes
If you have a suggestion you should direct it via:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
I did that... no feedback, of course, but it sure does seem like the last iTunes update addressed it. The dialog is still left up, but it seems to rescan the airport express devices and make them available again, for instance, in the Remote application. Keeping my fingers crossed, but it's been awhile since I hauled out the remote desktop and restarted iTunes because of that error - it was a daily event.

  • Airport Express error 9672 on ip2200 printer

    Hi folks,
Can't seem to get the ip2200 connected by USB to my Airport Express. I keep getting the error 9672 message, and I have tried following the manual, done an update on the Canon drivers, checked all the details on AE Admin, and they all seem hunky dory. When I go to connect the printer on Bonjour, this message keeps coming up. Can anyone assist me please.
    Cheers
    Kurt

BTW - everything else is working fine, internet and iTunes are working.

  • Continually getting airport express error message

I keep getting an "unexpected error" when setting up my new airport express.  The set-up seems to go smoothly but when the express needs to reboot, it always ends in error. I have tried it with both my new comp (mountain lion) and old (leopard).  Does anyone have a helpful tidbit?

Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

  • Apple Airport Express Error Code -6753

    HI,
I have just bought my third Airport Express. I have 2 already set up in different rooms and wanted a third for yet another room.
I have a wireless network that I want it to join along with the others.
I cannot connnect to it to configure it. Here are all the ways I have tried.
    1. From a Vista laptop using the Utility that came on the disk. The device appears in teh list with the amber dot next to it, but when I try to connect to it I get a pop up that says it will connect to it, and disconnect from my existing network, which is fine. But nothing happens. So no joy.
    2. Tried the same from my XP desktop PC that also has a wireless adapter. Still no joy. It detects the new wireless network but cannot connect to it.
    3. From my Mac Mini. No joy whatsoever - doesnt even detect the new network created by it.
    4. Coonected an ethernet cable, looked up the ip address, then tried to connect to it directly using "Other" on the XP PC. This time it asks for the password, which I enter "public" - then I just get an error code -6753.
    Any ideas?

If at all possible, switch your encryption to WPA ... it just works better than WEP. If you have XP, you might need a hotfix from Microsoft.
1 Open up your router software: choose WPA PSK.
2 Type in passphrase, copy the key that is generated.
3 If your router gives you an option for AES or TKIP, choose one or the other (or mixed, if you have that).
Do not save yet. Keep the router page open on your desktop.
4 Open up your Airport Express Utility.
5 Enter the new key (not the passphrase) into the Airport Express.
    6 Save this.
7 If you have any other devices on your network that require the key, open them and change the key.
8 Now, return to the router/access point page that is open on your desktop.
    9 Save.
9 Your wireless network card also has to be changed in order to reflect this.
10 Open up the NIC by right-clicking on the icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your desktop. In Vista, you can also access this through Network->Network Sharing ->Status -> Wireless Properties -> Security. Add your security type, (TKIP or AES) and your key.
    11 Turn off your computer.
12 Turn your computer back on.
Also, unplug AE, unplug router, and unplug modem. Plug in modem, plug in router, and plug in AE.

  • Airport express  error (Muted) with youtube, shoutcast and with tplink router

    Hi!
    My problem is:
I have an airport express 802.1g
Its wired to a tplink router .  The airport's wifi is disabled.
    1.     Iam  playing  a youtube video. When its finised and i would like watch another one, the  sound is not working anymore util i reboot the airport.
    2.     similar with shoutcast. If the stream disconnect, after reconnect there is no sound on speakers.
Iam using a tplink router and my ipad /iphone is connecting to the router's wifi. The router is wired to airport express.
    Thanks for help:
    Kavics

Unfortunately, if you are trying to use the Express to extend the Sitecom router's signal...using wireless only....the Express is very likely not compatible for that purpose.
The Express can extend a signal from another Apple router....but it would be extremely unlikely that this would work with a router from another manufacturer.
If you have tried this a number of times and always get an error message....I am afraid that you have your answer.

  • Airport Express: error code another device on the network is using your computer's IP address

I have set up the airport express now I get an error reading 'another device on the network is using your computer’s IP address 192.168.1.64. ' and I am unable to access the internet. Any suggestions?

The modem is fine, it's just not designed to work with a router without some re-configuration.
Connect the modem directly to your computer using an Ethernet cable
Pull up your browser and enter 192.168.1.254 into the address bar and press enter. That should pull up the modem configuration pages
Look for an Advanced tab on the left. You may need to enter the modem access code when you do this. It is on the bottom of the modem
    Click the PPP Location Tab
Change this setting to "PPP is on the computer (or router)..... or, if you do not see this setting, there should be a setting for Bridge Mode.
Make your selection and click Save or similar and modem will restart with the new settings
Important....if you need to get back to the original modem settings again, you will need to first hold the reset button in on the back of the modem for 10 seconds, then let it restart. That will get it back to original factory settings if you need to get back to those settings.
With the AirPort Express powered up, hold in the reset button on the device for 10-12 seccnds and then release the reset button. Allow 40-45 seconds for the Express to restart at which time it will slowly blink amber
Connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the AirPort Express
Make sure you are logged onto the wireless signal for the AirPort Express. It provides a temporary network with a name like Apple Network xxxxxx. Log on to that network. There is no password.
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab/label located just under the row of icons to assign a name to the Express, a device password (write that down) and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab next to the Base Station tab
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Your choice
Check mark next to Allow network to be extended
    Radio Mode = 802.11n 802.11b/g compatible
    Channel = Automatic
    Security = WPA2 Personal
    Password = Your choice
    Confirm Password
    Click the Internet icon
    Connect Using = PPPoE
User Name = probably your email address with your provider
Password = password with your provider
    Verify Password
    Service Name....Leave this completely blank
    Connection = Always On
    Disconnect if Idle = Never
Click Update at the lower right and allow 40-45 seconds to restart. You may see a message about "setup over WAN".  Click to ignore.
As soon as you see the message in AirPort Utility that the settings have been stored...Close AirPort Utility.
Wait for a green light on the AirPort Express and then click the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the computer screen to look for the new network that you just named. Log on and enter the password.
You should have an Internet connection.
If not, power everything down. Start the modem first, then the Express, then your computers
