Airport Express has stopped streaming my iTunes any ideas?

I have 2 macs connected to my home network. iBook G4 (Tiger) running iTunes 7 works fine. Connects with remote speakers, all is good. Mac mini intel duo core 2 (Leopard) runs iTunes and plays via my computers speakes but will not play wireless to my stereo. Have downloaded firmware upgrade. No luck. Have trashed prefs and dowloaded iTunes and reinstalled. Still nothing. I plugged in headphones to direct to the AX and got no sound.
What am I missing?

I finally figured this one out. I did a hard reset with the little button on the AE. I had to go in and create a new network but no big deal. iTunes sees my remote speakers and all is back to normal. This was a head scratcher...

Airport Express has stopped working. In my Airport tool, I can't see the Airport Express anymore.
Under network, I can still see the Airport, but it says, that it cant find an IP-Adress.
It can see my Airport Extreme.

Try resetting the Airport Express.
If you don't see it in Airport Utility in your Utilities folder, then you would need to reset it...
Do you have it set to "Join" the Extreme network? or something else?

Also, you would not see it in your Network preference panel in the System Preferences.
You will only see the main network which is your Airport Extreme....
Unless you have 2 separate networks....

Airport express has stopped working when college switched network to 'N'

Hi all,
My university has just switched their wireless to 'N'-band. My airport express ('G') is now upset: not only has airtunes stopped working (I previously had joined it to the dorm wireless network), but I can no longer even access my airport in the Airport Utility (5.3.2).
I've done a hard reset of my airport express and I still cannot access the device via the airport utility. When I click 'rescan', the device is never found.
I have noticed, however, the default network "Apple Network 600eab' appearing among my wireless network choices. Unfortunately, Airport never actually lets me join that network.
Does anyone have any ideas I can try?

I've had to go back to firmware 7.4.1 and that seems to work. Anyone know what is up with 7.5.2?

Airport Express has stopped working

Hi.
My AE has just stopped working and now can't connect to the network. I have tried a harware reset and all I get is the amber light and now and again it flashes then turns green and then back to amber. It looks to me as if the something has damaged the hardware as I cant get it to showup in my airport utility.

If you have tried a Factory Default Reset a few times, and the AirPort Express is still acting up, it is likely defective and will need to be replaced.

If it is out of warranty......and you have the patience.....and want to take a real longshot......carefully saw open the case of the Express along the center seam to open up the device and look for something obvious....like a connector that has come loose, broken wire, etc.

My airport express has stopped working as an extender.

I have been successfully using my my airport Express as an extender for several months when it just quit working. I now have plugged it in right next to my computer and airport Extreme to trouble shoot.
It just sits there blinking orange. I have pushed the reset button to no avail. I have unplugged it, pushed and held reset while plugging it in, still it flashes yellow.
Any good ideas?

When you performed the reset, you returned the Express back to its original new, out of box settings. So, you have to reconfigure it again to with settings for your network. You will not see a green light until you complete this process.
Temporarily, connect a spare Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme to the AirPort Express
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the row of icons and assign a name to the Express, a device password and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab and adjust settings to look like this:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as the AirPort Extreme wireless network
Enter a check mark next to "Allow wireless clients"
Wireless Security = WPA/WPA2 Personal
Wireless Password = Same password as the AirPort Extreme wirelesss network
Confirm Password
Click Update at the lower right
As soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored successfully, close AirPort Utility and disconnect the Ethernet cable
Wait 40-45 seconds for a green light. Now you can move the Express back to the desired location and plug it back in

Netgear N600 and Airport Express working together... Any ideas???

My Netgear N600 daulband router just started giving me problems the last few days. So thinking I needed a new router I decided to go with an Airport Express. I ordered it and it's on the way. Now after swaping out the power supply cord on the Netgear it's working fine again. (the problem was in the power cord) Since I have the Airport Express coming I was wondering how I could use it with my Netgear N600 router. I have two Apple TV units and also use wifi with my ipad and iphone and laptop (non-apple).
Is there a way I can use the Airport express to extend my wifi thru out the house? Any ideas or thoughts on this? Should I just send it back? Open to all ideas. Thanks

So Bob let me ask you this, are anyone else that may have any ideas. Should I hook up the Netgear router first then wire the Airport Express to it, or the Airport Express first then wire the Netgear router to it. Will it make a diffrent? I think the Netgear N600 is faster, 600 vs 300. Any thoughts on this?

The 'fix' is a replacement if the one you have is faulty. Bring the MBA and charger to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.

It certainly would not hurt to let the folks at the Apple store take a look to verify things. If the product is less than a year old, or you have AppleCare on one of your Mac, the Express may qualify for free replacement.
The Apple Store may also some some refurbished Express devices on hand at a discount if you need to buy, or they can direct you to the Apple online store for the same thing.

My airport express has stopped working when set to 802.11 b/g

All of a sudden I have basically no signal when my Airport Extreme is set to 802.11n (802.11 b/g compatible). It works fine at 802.11a compatible, but the Playstation 3 needs the g network.

I've had to go back to firmware 7.4.1 and that seems to work. Anyone know what is up with 7.5.2?

Why won't my airport express work with the latest iTunes, the airport shows green but there is no icon in iTunes any longer, what has gone wrong, desperate!!

Airport Express used to work with iTunes v11 but now with v12 there is no sign of the little icon that used to appear over the volume button. The Airport is finding the network, nothing has changed bar the version of iTunes, what should I do??

A friend has helped me solve this problem, in my case it was nothing to do with Windows firewalls as some have suggested but it was simply a matter of resetting both the router and the Airport, the Airport is fairly obvious but not the router at least this was the first time I recall HAVING to reset it.

buy one (or two) of those newer md031 airport extreme base stations as they have a higher power output.
ur post is implying 'join a wireless network' so i dont think limiting to 2.4ghz or 802.11b or 802.11g would help..
using 2.4 or 802.11b would help over distances, if ur creating a network and joining it then thats not an option
the airport has a couple settings like power output (make sure its set to 100%) or multicast rate that might be worth trying out. multicast set to low helps with clients joining at longer distances and multicast set to high kicks off clients at distances
put the aiprort express up high on the wall so it has a better chance of not being obstructed ?? and not on the bottom of the baseboard??

I'm having the same problem, even more:
- Watching movies over AppleTV: switches off every 20min (sleep mode).
- Listening to iTunes music ofer AirPlay: the same.
- A whole confusion with switching airplay destinations (AppleTV, AirportExpress) over iPhone remote app. Sometimes remote cannot find my library anymore
- Before, I was able to multitask: stream a DVD to AppleTV, using airplay mirroring, and simultaneously stream music from iTunes on the same computer, over the iTunes airplay selector, to loudspeakers connected to AirportExpress. No longer possible.
I've grown a big Apple fan in short time, proudly living what for others is the future (your media stored anyhwere, controlled from anywhere, played anywhere, stop thinking in terms of devices). And, I've learnt to savour the moments when you can look your Microsoft friends deep in the eyes and say: "The big difference with Apple - it just works"...
At the moment, I'm trying not to invite my friends.

Airport Express REALLY stopped working

My Airport Express has really stopped working: dead as a dodo, defunct, etc. It doesn't show in Airport Admin Utility or in iTunes, and the front light is also dead. I have tried changing the easy-access fuse but it makes no difference.
I assume it has rather annoyingly just died, but why or how I do not know. Is there anything else I can try or do? Is it worth having it repaired, given the relatively low cost?

anyway, our curretn investigations show that APX with serial starting with HS4xx or HS5xx or even HS6xx are mostly affected by the sudden death syndroma.
other APX series manufacture with a serial starting with 6F are much much less prone to die after the end of the warranty.

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(
