Airport express install freeze

Hello,
I did change location of my Airport Express, and before connecting I did factory reset. However when installing through Airport Utility (on the same macbook, as used before), the connection freezes in this moment:
I've tried numerous times, same result. Would be grateful if somebody could help out!
Thank you,
Nils

1) Please perform a factory default reset again on the AirPort Express.
2) Power off your main router for a minute or two, then power it back up.
3) Try the setup again with the AirPort Express in close proximity to the main router.
4) If the Express sets up correctly, move it to the desired location and test that way.
Please report on your results.

  • Problems streaming Destinos videos once Airport Express installed

I just added an Airport Express and an Apple TV to my home iMac. (The Airport Express is my only "router".)
Everything works great except one problem.
I can no longer watch a series of 30-minutes lanuage videos (Destinos: http://learner.org/series/destinos/watch/index.html?ep6 ) on my iMac without restarting each video every 5 minutes and them jumping to the point it last froze to continue viewing the remainder of the video. Suggestions? It feels like some kind of buffering problem.

i have an airport express that was working fine
wirelessly with the green light sustained and
everything was fine until i had to put a password on
my wireless router to keep unauthorized users from
slowing down my connection. i am using a linksys
wireless-G router and once i installed a password the
airport express isn't recognized by the computer and
there is a yellow light blinking instead of a
sustained green light. how do i fix this problem?
Did you add a WEP password, if possible use a WPA password instead.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

  • Airport Express Install help needed as Airport utility for PC seems to sort of work?

    Hope someone can help.
Just bought the Airport Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi
It is connected to my cable modem, and i have my ps3 hard wired to it.
It is on and sending a signal because this computer is using the internet connect on it right now.
Problem is it is still unsecured as the Airport Utility can find it but then when I click continue to set-it up it gives me the following message.
An error occured while trying to access the apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again.
    Error 10057.
Any help would be great. I'm on a PC running Windows 7.

    Thanks for the reply.
All we have is the cable internet modem....it provides our phone and internet signals....tons of lights on it the front that are solid green or flashing green when in use.
I have connected a cable from the modem to the airport express (WAN spot). Plugged in the device (power) and then downloaded Airport Utility for windows from apples website (no disk came in the box).
I have have two wired connections running to the extreme as well, one is to my PS3 downstairs and the other I use when I'm at my desk with my office laptop. These shouldn't be affecting anything and I can get internet on my PS3 wired connecton so I know the router is functioning.
I installed Airport Utility and have rebooted my PC running windows 7, I click and opne the Utility. It finds the base station but when I click on the options to continue or manual I get the error message noted in my first post. I have alos noted that the router goes green light to yellow to flashing yellow. It does nothing but flash amber right now.
    Hope this helps for solutions?

  • Trouble with Airport Express install

    Hi Everyone,
I just received my airport express and followed the guide to attach the eithernet/internet cable. I have a Powerbook G-4 with updated OSX 10.4 and aiport card installed. I have attached to my Motorola cable modem to a Linksys eitherfast 10/100 5 port workgroup switch router to distribute the eithernet connection to my pc computer by direct eithernet line in, and the second output goes to the airport express. The airport express is clearly being seen by my powerbook, with full power, but it is not receiving the internet signal from the airport express. But my pc is getting full internet function, just one port away on the same hub. I've also taken the eithernet cable that was working fine in my pc and connected it to the airport express, then rebooted everything, including a reset on the airport express. Still don't get an internet connection. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

The problem is that the Ethernet hub is not the proper device to use for sharing an Internet connection. You need to replace the hub with an inexpensive router.
Your ISP is giving you a single public IP address. The PC is winning the race and getting that IP address. You need a router to use that single public IP address and then create multiple local IP addresses for your devices.
The AirPort Express (AX) is a router but (since it only has a single Ethernet port) can not support Ethernet clients.

  • Printing to Canon Pixma MP170 on Airport Express from Windows XP

I got a Canon MP170 basically for free with the rebates.
Connected to my Airport Express, installed the drivers on my PowerMac and I can print just fine (I am aware that the scanner will only work when connected directly - which also works fine).
Now I installed the drivers on Windows XP, then added a new printer, selected the Standard TCP/IP port where I had my other printer on the Aiport Express before and changed the printer driver to the Canon MP170. Could not print.
Deleted the port (only managed after deleting the printer(s) defined with it and restarting Windows ...) and created the port from scratch - Standard TCP/IP port, IP address of my Airport Express, device type Generic Network Card, raw port 9100. Won't print.
Anybody managed to get this going?
Thanks in advance and Best Regards,
    alex

  • HP Laserjet printer connected to my Airport Express?

I have bought a HP Laserjet printer and I want to connect it to my Airport express, so I can print wireless. I have my Airport express installed and connected to my router via Ethernet cabel and I the printer is connected to the Airport station by a USB cable. But my Macbook Pro can't find the printer when I search for it? What might the problem be?
    Hope someone can help!

The problem may be that the AirPort Express does not support your printer model.  Not all printers are supported, and Apple tends to favor popular, lower priced All-in-One devices for USB support.
On your Mac....open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Print & Scan
Click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list
Hopefully, your printer model will appear. If it does, click on the name of the printer to highlight it, then click Add to install the printer at the location of the AirPort Express
Try to print. Be sure to select the correct location of your printer, as it may appear as a printer connected to your MacBook Pro and as a printer connected to the AirPort Express. You must choose the correct location to be able to print.
If your printer model does not appear when you click the + button in the steps above, about all that you can do is contact HP Support to see if they have an updated printer driver that you could download and install....that might allow the print function at the AirPort Express.

  • Slow boot and very slow shut down after installation of Airport Express

I have an iMac on an ethernet connection and a Macbook on the Airport Express installed as a bridge. After starting up the Airport Express, the shutdown of the iMac went from five seconds to about 65 seconds. Bootup is about 15 seconds longer as well. If I take the Airpot Express out of the circuit, the startup and shutdown of the iMac go back to normal.
Any ideas why? The iMac isn't using the AE unit as its Airport is turned off.

  • Airport Express and HP F4180 All in One Printer

    Hi
I just bought an Apple Airport Express to connect my F4180 to my wireless home network. This F4180 used to be connected directly via USB to my Vista PC and was available to the other laptops by sharing the printer. This worked ok, but I always had to start this specific computer to make the F4180 available for the other laptops.
After installing the Airport Express and Bonjour everything seemed perfect, but after the first print I noticed that only 60% of the page was printed and an error occured. I tried everything, installing, reinstalling, deleting, reading forums, helpdesks, etc, etc, but did not find an answer.
    Does anyone have a clue?
    Thanx in advance
    Henri
    Vista,
HP F4180 All in One printer,
    Apple Airport Express (latest version),
    Apple Bonjour (latest version),
    Linksys E200 wireless
Apple Airport Express installed as extension of existing network

This combination SHOULD work but it often does not.  I have replaced several base routers from non-Airport to Airport and resolved issues like this - USB printers, AirPlay issues, etc.  Its the only way I know how to make it work, sorry.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

I want to use my three year old airport express station to stream music from iTunes to my speakers. When I try to load my airport express software onto by OS10.7.5 imac I get the following error:
"airport can't be installed on this disk. Ther version of Mac OSX on this volume is not supported."
    Can you help?

If you have an old AirPort Express, install AirPort Utility 5.6 with Pacifist in OS X

  • Airport Express breaking my base station network?!?!?

I've had an AEBS and Airport Express installed in my home for about a year. I use them with my PBG4 and iMac G5, both of which are running 10.4.3. The Express is mostly just a range extender for the PBG4. Airport Admin Utility v5.6.
I recently purchased a Dell 6000 and it connects to my network well. However, sometime during my setup of the Dell, I used the Airport Admin Utility on the iMac to change the WEP settings for the base station (the Dell said it required WEP 40 instead of 128 like I had on the original network). Since uploading changes to the AEBS and reconnecting the iMac, Dell and PBG4 to the network, the following occurs...
If I keep the Express unplugged, I don't have any problems. BUT, if I plug it in and get too close to it with any of the computers (I've tried with both laptops and plugging it in near the iMac) then I can't connect to the internet any longer. The Airport menu says I'm connected to my network but that I'm NOT connected to the internet (if I try to launch safari or firefox). If I unplug the Express, the connection returns and I can surf again. This happens with ALL my computers.
My concern is that I changed a setting in all the computers and the AEBS that is keeping the Express from connecting properly. BUT, none of my Airport software (Admin utility, setup assistant) can find the Express when it's plugged in and steady green light??? The only "base station" available is my main AEBS but the Express is AWOL. I just can't figure out how to make the computer find/see the Express. I know it's working because it is breaking an internet connection when it's plugged in
Any thoughts on what I need to do to be able to see and edit the configuration of this Express?

Make sure you do a factory default reset of the Airport Express per:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108044
Run the Airport Admin Utility and use it to clean up the configuration of the Airport Base Station:
    - under the Airport tab, make sure the option to "create a closed network" is not checked
    - under the Access control tab, clear all entries
    - under the WDS tab, clear all entries
Then (temporarily) put the Airport Express and the Mac you are using for the configuration in the same room as the Base Station. Run the Airport Setup Assistant, and use its guidance to configure the Airport Express as a new Base Station that "extends" the existing wireless network created by the Airport Extreme Base Station.
If you still have problems, make sure you are not using the problematic firmware version 5.6 (Base Station) and 6.2 (Airport Express). The version you should be using are available at:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportexpressfirmware611formacosx.html
