Airport (Express) is turned on but is not connected to a network.

I am having an issue with my Airport Express set up. I have had 18 months of use of the AE for internet access (no other wireless hardware used), but have suddenly lost the wireless ability.
In my network preferences it shows the AE with an amber light (green on the actual AE) with the message "Airport is turned on but is not connected to a network". When I look at the Airport utility there is no AE showing even after multiple "rescans"
I have gone through multiple processes of turning on and off the router, AE and MBP to no avail. I have gone through soft and hard reboots to intermittent visibility in the Airport Utility. This includes direct linking MBP to AE with Ethernet cable
When the AE finally shows in the utility, i have reset all passwords etc as advised by program, but when the utility goes to restart the AE it loses it and I end up back at square one
I know the internet is working due to Ethernet directly into the MBP
I have take to a friends and they plug and play ... so know the AE works
Is there something i am not doing? Why is the AE and MBP not talking to each other?
Please someone help me !!

If so, go through the setup process. After the Express restarts, disconnect it from the computer and connect it to your DSL, cable modem, or whatever provides your internet connection. Wait a minute or so. The light on the Express should turn green.
Now tell your MBP to join the wireless network created by the Express. You can do this using the AirPort menu or the Network pane of System Preferences.
Does this work?

I want to set up my Airport Express Base Station again but do not remember how. Please walk me thru it.

I am trying to hook my Airport Express Base Station up to be a router again and have forgotten how to do this. Before I had it hooked through the modeum and would like to have it that way again but for some reason the process has completely left my memory. I know it has something to do with the little icon on the top of the computer but not what it has to do with it. Because it is not hooked up I am unable to get my printer to work unless I connect to another wireless that I have but do not want to use all of the time since I have to pay for it and do not have many GB. I am also paying for another that I want to use all of the time (unless necessary to use the other) so It only cost me when I am away from home. Please walk me through the process of hooking the Apple router back up.

All apple routers are setup via Airport Utility.. there is no icon for it in the top menu area.. I think you are confusing the airport network setup (ie the internal wireless card in the Mac) with the airport express setup.. Apple insist on calling everything the same name which makes it more confusing.
Open the airport utility which you find under applications/utilties.
Router setting will depend on what version of the utility you are using.
In version 5 it is under Internet tab and in v6 utility under network. You need to set it to DHCP + NAT.
Download and read the manual for setting up the express if you have forgotten the details.. manuals are always good.. all the manuals are listed at the head of the section. But you are in Time Capsule instead of extreme/express specific area.

If you want the express as router the modem should be bridged or it should be a pure modem for it to work without Double NAT issues. There is nothing wrong with bridging the Express.. that is not the same as using it in wireless bridge modes.. that is router bridge.
What modem do you have?
I am at a loss to understand the rest.. why the printer is not part of your own network.. and how setting up the airport this way is important. You need to give us specific details if you need more help.
How exactly is the airport setup now?
How do you connect to the modem?
How is the printer connected? What kind of printer?

Airport express light is green but is not working

My airport express is on,light is green, all of my computers see it though Airport Utility however the computer that is 2 feet away has no internet abilities. It however see the house network,sign in but no not able to communicate with other house computers as well as the internet. 'The lights are on but no one is at home'

If all the other computers can connect to the Internet, try power cycling your entire network.
Power everyhing down on the network...all devices, order is not important
Wait a moment, then start the modem first and let it run a moment by itself
Then start your AirPort Express the same way
Continue starting the devices the same way until everything is back up
Check for Internet connections on all devices
Please post on your results

Airport Express with Green Light but won't connect to iTunes or Airtunes!

I've had my Airport Express for a while and have just set it up in my new house with an Orange Broadband wireless router.
I originally got it set up to play music from my Macbook to my Hifi (that's all I use it for) and it worked fine.
I have now been on holiday for 2 weeks and switched it off.
Now when I turn it on the green light is on however the Airtunes option doesn't appear in iTunes and the Airport doesn't show up anywhere on the computer.
I have reset and set it up again and it still doesn't work.
My wireless internet is working fine and the Airport light is constant green as normal however I can't use it for the reason I need.
I normally have issues with it but nothing I try seems to work for this.

I've solved this by resetting my wireless internet connection at the box and then setting up airport express again.

I have a 6-7 year old airport express that I have used frequently as remote speakers for my macbook and 2 iphones. I am currently having problems with getting this to work in my new flat. It worked for a few weeks and now he green light is on but the remote speakers time out when i try to connect to it.
Sometimes the airport is visible in itunes/iphone and sometimes it isn't. when it isn't if i unplug it and leave it a while it appears again but i cant connect but the green light is always on.
It's all set up properly so I don't know if it is just getting old and I need a new one or whether this can be solved.

Airport Express listed in Itunes, but can't connect (error -6753)

I had to reset my router (Linksys) and Airport Express yesterday. Everything is reconfigured, with one exception. I have a green light on my AE and itunes lists it in the speaker selection bar, but it can't connect. I also cannot connect to the AE using the admin tool. The admin tool lists the AE, prompts me for the password then fails. In both cases (itunes and admin tool) error -6753 is reported.
Any ideas?

When trying to sync with itunes error message reads Apple mobile device not started. I pod turns on but does not connect to itunes

When I try to sync my ipod with itunes I get an error message which tells me Apple mobile device is not started.

This error is associated with ringtones, are you trying to sync a ringtone, purchase a ringtone...need more info...
I have also an error message saying it cannot sync and error message number 0050.
Are you on Windows XP? Is this the error message...iTunes displays -50 error message? If so, follow these directions:

systems that use this printer have Win7 32bit/ win7 64bit and windows xp 32bit. (via network)
tried updating the firmware - rebooting - manual ip vs dhcp - registered the printer - removing e-print - power cycle - adding e-print.
also forwarded the ports and added to dmz - no go... added googles dns instead of my isp. no change.(connection error)
but the printer will print any e-mail thrown and it shows on the eprint website as connected.
router is a d-link dir 615 rev b (old but reliable)
printer is not using wireless - wireless is off on printer.
printer is connect by cat5e cable.
Any ideas

Also try this - Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

How is the express getting internet? What modem is it plugged into?
How is the extreme setup? New extreme cannot be setup with 5.6 utility.. you must use latest 6.3. Which also means you cannot setup from computer using less than Lion .. or you must use iOS with latest utility but it has limited configuration cf the computer version.
IPv6 is also needed.. turn on local link.

I would recommend setting the wireless encryption on the AirPort Express BEFORE configuring it for the AirPort Extreme in this case. This issue also comes up often when configuring AirPorts into a WDS.
If setting up security in my recommend order does not work, temporarily connect the Express by Ethernet to the Extreme; make the security changes, and then, move the Express back to the desired location.

Airport Express/Mac work fine, Vista PC sees network, but will not connect

I have been working on this for two days. What can I do? I have the latest firmware on the airport express and my utilities are up to date on both PC and Vista (airport s/w ver 5.3.2). It all worked before. Also, my brother wireless printer sees network, but will not connect.

I have a similar issue. I have an AP Express set up for WPA2 Personal, G only. My Mac mini connects fine. My Dell mini9 with XP connects fine. My Dell desktop with Vista64 connects fine, but is local only, no internet.
